ABOUT CARTESIA
Our mission is to architect AI that learns from and interacts with the world like humans do.
We're pioneering the model architectures that will make this possible. Our founding team met as PhDs at the Stanford AI Lab, where we invented State Space Models or SSMs, a new primitive for training efficient, large-scale foundation models. Our team combines deep expertise in model innovation and systems engineering paired with a design-minded product engineering team to build and ship cutting edge models and experiences.
We're funded by leading investors at Index Ventures and Lightspeed Venture Partners, along with Factory, Conviction, A Star, General Catalyst, SV Angel, Databricks and others. We're fortunate to have the support of many amazing advisors, and 90+ angels across many industries, including the world's foremost experts in AI.
About the Role
As a Recruiting Coordinator at Cartesia, scheduling is your core craft and you'll be the friendly face candidates meet along the way. As we scale, you’ll also gain hands on exposure to recruiting operations, process building, and improving the systems that keep our hiring team moving smoothly.
Cartesia is building the models and infrastructure powering real-time voice AI, and you'll help shape the team that gets us there. This role is for you if you love the satisfaction of getting things done quickly, thrive in environments that are fluid and constantly evolving, obsess over learning new things, and enjoy meeting and interacting with new people.
This is a contract-to-hire role: the position starts as a contract with a strong opportunity to convert to full-time based on performance. Please note that full-time benefits do not apply while in the contract phase.
Your Impact
Own scheduling end to end. Coordinate interviews, debriefs, and interview kickoffs so every candidate and interviewer shows up informed, prepared, and on time.
Host candidates onsite. Create an experience that's warm, human, and memorable adapting to different personalities along the way.
Partner cross functionally. Work closely with recruiters, interviewers, and hiring managers to anticipate needs, solve problems in real time, and keep things moving.
Maintain accurate data. Keep our ATS and scheduling tools (Ashby & ModernLoop) accurate and up to date so nothing falls through the cracks.
Support ad hoc projects. Assist with initiatives related to recruiting operations and candidate experience.
Drive continuous improvement. Constantly find and execute on opportunities to improve how we operate.
What You Bring
2+ years experience. As a Recruiting Coordinator, in recruiting ops, or a similar role in a fast paced, technical environment.
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail. Nothing slips past you. Wrong time zone, missing dial in, double booked room. You catch it before it becomes a problem.
Initiative taker. You don't wait to be told. When you spot something inefficient, you take it as a personal challenge and you've got the judgment to fix it the right way.
Proactive communicator. You flag delays before anyone has to ask and keep everyone in the loop without being prompted.
Empathetic. Every person in the process matters to you. You are thoughtful to make the experience seamless for everyone including the candidate and the hiring team.
Comfortable with chaos. You are comfortable keeping everyone organized and up to speed.
Discreet. Comfortable handling confidential information with care.
Nice to have: Experience with Ashby & ModernLoop
Note: Cartesia participates in E-Verify and will provide the federal government with Form I-9 information to confirm employment eligibility after hire.

This is not a standard annotation engagement. You will own your language end to end, which includes managing annotation quality, auditing data, monitoring product performance, investigating customer-reported issues, and executing projects that require deep linguistic expertise and attention to detail. You will operate independently across these workstreams and serve as the team's go-to resource for anything related to your language.
This is an ongoing contractor engagement. Availability during some US Pacific business hours is preferred to allow for team syncs and real-time support.
ABOUT THE ENGAGEMENT
You will coordinate with the Human Evals Manager on project deliverables and timelines. Some examples of what your day-to-day work may include:
Answer questions from annotators about guidelines, edge cases, or language-specific issues via an agreed project communication channel.
Cascade new feedback, instructions, or rubric updates to annotators working on your projects.
Listen to annotator-rated audio files and check whether their ratings and written feedback align with the rubric.
Prepare written quality assessments for annotators with specific examples and recommendations.
Listen to TTS output and provide ground truth assessments of pronunciation, prosody, and naturalness in your language.
Update or expand sections of the annotation guidelines when you find gaps or edge cases.
Prep and run calibration meetings with annotators.
Hold office hours on a mutually agreed schedule during active studies so annotators can ask questions in real time.
Develop onboarding materials and resources for new annotators.
Write QA reports on annotation quality and calibration outcomes.
Review production audio in your language and flag quality issues to the team.
Investigate language-specific issues reported by customers and identify root causes.
Audit datasets for linguistic accuracy, completeness, and consistency.
COMMITMENT
Roughly 40 hours per week with flexibility in scheduling. Project hours may vary depending on active studies, data projects, and product needs. Participation in periodic coordination meetings during US Pacific hours is expected.
REQUIREMENTS
Native-level proficiency in French as spoken in France.
Experience with data annotation, transcription, or language quality assurance.
Strong foundation in linguistics or a related field, with the ability to apply concepts like phonetics, prosody, and intonation when evaluating speech and writing annotation guidelines.
Strong written English proficiency. All guidelines, feedback, reports, and team communication are in English.
Ability to write clear, structured instructions and deliver specific, actionable feedback to annotators.
Comfortable working with data and metrics such as inter-rater agreement scores, audit spreadsheets, and structured feedback templates.

Data & Strategy Lead
Cartesia · San Francisco, California, United States
The Data & Strategy Team reports directly to Cartesia's founders and shapes our models capabilities. We work alongside researchers to find where models break, through evals and direct customer conversations, and then fix them by sourcing high quality data. We're looking for people who bring technical depth, operational rigor, and high agency, who want to have a lot of impact.
As a Data & Strategy Lead, you'll have broad ownership and autonomy to shape one of the most important inputs to frontier AI models. You'll work across research, product, and go-to-market teams, make decisions with incomplete information, and build new processes from the ground up. If you enjoy solving ambiguous problems, learning quickly, and creating leverage through systems, you'll thrive in this role.
Your Impact
Partner tightly with research and modeling teams to find where models fail, through evals and direct customer conversations.
Design, source, and maintain the evals that define quality for our models. Ground them in observed customer failures, benchmark continuously against other systems, and turn the results into concrete data requirements.
Establish new sources of human data to advance model performance, building collection pipelines from scratch, and own data quality from acquisition through delivery.
Stay close to the research. Read papers, understand what datasets move which capabilities, and collaborate with the team on what data to collect next.
Be commercially minded. Engage with customers, enable the GTM team, and drive revenue growth.
Principles for the role
Bias for action
Extreme ownership, low ego
Ability to operate in ambiguous environments
High standards and accountability
Bar raiser
Outcomes oriented
Winning mentality
What You Bring
3โ10 years of experience in high-ownership roles (e.g., founder, GM, or strategy/ops at a startup).
Technical fluency with data and operations; SQL proficiency required.
Holds themselves and other to a high bar, bias to action, and strong attention to detail.
Comfortable with ambiguity and rapid pace.
Low-ego, collaborative, and mission-driven, focused on team and company success.
Nice to Have
Experience in AI/ML data operations or large-scale operations
Background in audio, speech, or language-related workflows
Background in CS, industrial engineering, or similar.
Note: Cartesia participates in E-Verify and will provide the federal government with Form I-9 information to confirm employment eligibility after hire.

Data & Strategy Lead
Cartesia · San Francisco, California, United States
Your Impact
- Partner tightly with research and modeling teams to find where models fail, through evals and direct customer conversations.
- Design, source, and maintain the evals that define quality for our models. Ground them in observed customer failures, benchmark continuously against other systems, and turn the results into concrete data requirements.
- Establish new sources of human data to advance model performance, building collection pipelines from scratch, and own data quality from acquisition through delivery.
- Stay close to the research. Read papers, understand what datasets move which capabilities, and collaborate with the team on what data to collect next.
- Be commercially minded. Engage with customers, enable the GTM team, and drive revenue growth.
Principles for the role
- Bias for action
- Extreme ownership, low ego
- Ability to operate in ambiguous environments
- High standards and accountability
- Bar raiser
- Outcomes oriented
- Winning mentality
What You Bring
- 3–10 years of experience in high-ownership roles (e.g., founder, GM, or strategy/ops at a startup).
- Technical fluency with data and operations; SQL proficiency required.
- Holds themselves and other to a high bar, bias to action, and strong attention to detail.
- Comfortable with ambiguity and rapid pace.
- Low-ego, collaborative, and mission-driven, focused on team and company success.
Nice to Have
- Experience in AI/ML data operations or large-scale operations
- Background in audio, speech, or language-related workflows
- Background in CS, industrial engineering, or similar.
Note: Cartesia participates in E-Verify and will provide the federal government with Form I-9 information to confirm employment eligibility after hire.
