The Role
This is a high-impact, high-autonomy role reporting directly to the General Counsel. You'll serve as the GC's primary partner across the full range of legal matters at a growth-stage fintech, with the ability to move fluidly between commercial, product, regulatory, and corporate work. You should be equally comfortable negotiating an enterprise SaaS agreement, advising product teams on AI and data compliance, and managing outside counsel on specialized matters. This role calls for someone who takes full ownership of matters end-to-end — from first read through final resolution — and moves with urgency rather than letting issues sit.
What You'll Do
- Commercial contracts: Own and manage the full lifecycle of customer, vendor, and partner agreements, including SaaS/API agreements, data licensing, partnership arrangements, and procurement contracts driving deals through to signature independently
- Product and AI counseling: Advise engineering and product teams on legal issues related to AI/ML, document automation, data privacy, and financial data handling
- Regulatory and compliance: Support compliance with financial services regulations applicable to Ocrolus's lending customers and partners, including state lending laws, fair lending, BSA/AML, and evolving AI regulation
- Privacy and data security: Partner with InfoSec and engineering on data privacy compliance (CCPA, state privacy laws, GLBA), data processing agreements, and incident response
- Corporate and governance: Assist with corporate governance, equity matters, board materials, and other general corporate needs
- Outside counsel management: Select, direct, and manage outside counsel on specialized matters, keeping costs and timelines in check
- Legal operations: Help build and optimize scalable legal processes, proactively identifying, piloting, and rolling out new AI-powered legal tools to increase the team's speed and efficiency
- Cross-functional partnership: Serve as a trusted advisor to business leaders across sales, partnerships, finance, and product
What We're Looking For
- J.D. from an accredited law school and active bar membership in good standing
- 7+ years of legal experience, with meaningful time at both a top law firm and in-house at a technology or financial services company
- Strong commercial contracts experience, particularly with SaaS, API/data licensing, or platform agreements
- Familiarity with financial services regulation, including lending, payments, or fintech compliance (experience advising on AI in financial services is a plus)
- Data privacy and security knowledge, including practical experience with CCPA, GLBA, or similar frameworks
- Demonstrated experience using legal AI tools (e.g., contract review platforms, AI-assisted research, legal workflow automation) and a genuine enthusiasm for integrating technology into legal practice
- Ability to operate independently with sound judgment, prioritize across competing demands, and deliver practical, business-oriented advice, taking full ownership of issues through to resolution rather than escalating or deferring decisions
- High sense of urgency and comfortable making decisions quickly and driving issues to closure without being prompted or waiting for direction
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to distill complex legal issues into clear, actionable guidance for non-legal stakeholders
- Comfort in a fast-paced, high-growth environment where building from scratch is part of the appeal
Nice to Have
- Experience at a fintech, lending platform, or financial data company
- Background advising on AI/ML product development or AI governance
- Experience supporting fundraising, M&A, or other corporate transactions
- Familiarity with mortgage lending or small business lending workflows
Note:
The full-time salary range for this role is around $220,000 + equity + benefits. Base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and market location.

Help drive growth across our Mortgage BU, one of Ocrolus's largest and fastest-moving segments. You'll partner directly with the VP of Mortgage Product to accelerate execution across the portfolio, owning strategy and delivery for a significant set of products while ensuring customers experience one cohesive product vision. You'll push how AI automates the mortgage workflow while keeping humans in control of the decisions that matter and innovate to create and deliver value end-to-end in the mortgage manufacturing process. Beyond building great products, you’ll raise the bar for product thinking, customer discovery, prioritization, and execution across the Mortgage team.
Why this role?
Mortgage is being rebuilt around AI in real time, and Ocrolus sits at the center of it. This is the rare seat where genuine mortgage expertise meets frontier AI product work, and where the person in it gets to decide how one of the largest financial workflows in the country actually gets automated. You'll own a portfolio that moves the business, work alongside a team that ships at startup speed, and see your decisions reach millions of loans. If you want your fingerprints on the future of lending, not a slide about it, this is where that work happens.
What You'll Do:
- Partner with the VP of Mortgage Product to coordinate priorities across the portfolio and present a unified product strategy to customers and internal stakeholders.
- Own strategy, roadmap, and delivery for a portfolio of mortgage products.
- Drive AI-first automation, across and adjacent to the mortgage manufacturing process, with human-in-the-loop accuracy as the standard.
- Work closely with engineering, AI/ML, and design teams to rapidly ship, measure, and iterate on new capabilities.
- Translate agency guidelines (Fannie, Freddie, FHA, VA, USDA) and lender workflows into real requirements and intuitive product experiences. .
- Partner with Sales, Account Management, Customer Enablement, Implementations, and Marketing to drive successful launches, adoption, and customer value
- Establish strong product management practices, using customer insight, data, and clear success metrics to drive prioritization and decision-making. Own the metrics that matter, adoption, accuracy, ROI.
What You'll Bring:
- 8+ years in product, much of it building mortgage or mortgage-tech products (POS, LOS, origination, underwriting automation, income/doc verification, or agency integrations).
- Deep mortgage fluency: the loan manufacturing process, agency guidelines, underwriting and operations workflows, and what lenders and underwriters actually struggle with.
- A builder who ships, fast and to a high bar. You prototype with engineers rather than write specs from a distance, and you move with urgency without cutting the corners that matter.
- Hands-on AI/ML experience, ideally in lending, document processing, or underwriting.
- A track record of products lenders use at scale, with measurable impact.
- Grit and ownership: you push through ambiguity, take outcomes as yours, and drive them without being told.
- Intellectual curiosity: you dig into how things work, question assumptions, and keep learning.
- Cross-functional leadership: you align engineering, ML, ops, and GTM, and you've mentored or managed PMs (or are ready to).
Nice to Have:
- Certified Mortgage Banker (CMB) or equivalent.
- Encompass / ICE, Fannie Mae DU, Freddie Mac LPA, or ULDD experience.
- Time at a modern mortgage-tech or AI-lending company.
- Experience shipping to mortgage lenders as customers.

We're at an inflection point. Large language models, agentic AI and our proprietary human-in-the-loop verification engine are converging. The VP, Engineering will own how that transformation happens — in our product, our platform and how our teams build.
This is a player-coach role: a hands-on technical leader who progressed through the IC route — Architect or Principal Engineer — gets into the weeds when it matters, and leads at the executive level. You build the team and stay in the game.
WHAT YOU'LL OWN
Engineering delivery and velocity
- Own end-to-end engineering execution: roadmap planning, sprint cadence, release quality and cross-team dependency management
- Partner with the Product teams to align engineering capacity with product priorities; surface honest tradeoffs early
- Drive a culture of high velocity and high trust — ship fast, learn fast, fix fast
AI-native platform and product
- Lead the engineering strategy for integrating LLMs, agentic workflows and AI-native development practices into Ocrolus products at scale
- Drive adoption of modern developer productivity tools and AI-augmented engineering workflows across all teams
- Define standards for AI output quality, hallucination control, cost governance and production reliability
- Compress idea-to-ship cycles for GenAI features; set the bar for moving from prototype to production
- Partner with the ML and AI Transformation teams to embed AI into internal workflows, not just external products
Architecture, scalability and reliability
- Remain deeply hands-on: lead architecture reviews, own critical system design decisions and drive technical decision-making — not from a distance
- Own the technical roadmap across distributed systems, platform architecture, scalability and reliability for your engineering domain
- Set and enforce engineering standards: code quality, observability, incident response and security
- Make high-stakes architectural calls that balance speed, cost and long-term maintainability
Engineering organization
- Lead and grow a distributed engineering org across the US and India as one of three VP Engineering leaders; partner closely with peer VPs under the CTO
- Manage directors and senior managers; coach them into leaders who scale with the company
- Set the hiring bar, build the interview machine and recruit senior talent in a competitive AI-era market
- Own DEI and retention outcomes within your domain
Executive and cross-functional leadership
- Represent engineering at the executive level; contribute to the narrative on technology execution, risks and investments
- Own your domain's engineering budget: headcount planning, tooling spend and cloud cost optimization
- Partner with Sales and Customer Success on enterprise commitments, SLA design and escalation resolution
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Non-negotiables
- 14+ years in software engineering with at least 5 years in engineering leadership; has scaled through Series C or equivalent growth
- Strong IC background — progressed through the Architect or Principal Engineer route with deep ownership of architecture, system design and technical decision-making
- Hands-on experience shipping AI/ML systems to production: LLMs, RAG, agentic workflows or document intelligence — not just oversight
- Proven ability to build and scale large-scale distributed platforms with high availability and reliability requirements
- Has partnered with a CTO or CEO on technical strategy; comfortable in the executive seat
- Deep expertise in distributed systems, cloud-native microservices architecture at scale (AWS preferred)
Strong signal
- Background in fintech, document AI, IDP (Intelligent Document Processing) or regulated data-intensive industries
- Experience running engineering in a human-in-the-loop or hybrid AI/human system
- Built or rebuilt engineering culture — hiring bar, onboarding, performance, career ladders — from a growth-stage baseline
- Familiarity with modern developer productivity tooling and AI-augmented SDLC practices
- Comfortable operating across US and India time zones with globally distributed teams

Director of Product - Platform
Come build at the intersection of AI and fintech. At Ocrolus, we’re on a mission to help lenders automate workflows with confidence—streamlining how financial institutions evaluate borrowers and enabling faster, more accurate lending decisions.
Our AI workflow and analytics platform for lenders is trusted at scale, processing nearly one million credit applications every month across small business, mortgage, and consumer lending. By integrating state-of-the-art open- and closed-source AI models with our human-in-the-loop verification engine, Ocrolus captures data from financial documents with over 99% accuracy. Thanks to our advanced fraud detection and comprehensive cash flow and income analytics, our customers achieve greater efficiency in risk management, and provide expanded access to credit—ultimately creating a more inclusive financial system.
Trusted by more than 400 customers—including industry leaders like Better Mortgage, Brex, Enova, Nova Credit, PayPal, Plaid, SoFi, and Square—Ocrolus stands at the forefront of AI innovation in fintech. Join us, and help redefine how the world’s most innovative lenders do business.
We're looking for a Director of Product - Platform to own the foundational layer that powers everything Ocrolus builds. This role sits at the center of the company, responsible for document intelligence infrastructure, our API and developer platform, and model orchestration. You'll define the platform strategy that enables both business units to move faster, ship better products, and scale without reinventing the wheel. This is a high-leverage, high-visibility role for someone who thinks in systems, builds for durability, and thrives when the problem is ambiguous and cross-functional.
What you'll do:
Platform Strategy & Roadmap
- Own the product vision and roadmap for Ocrolus's platform layer: document intelligence/extraction infrastructure, API/developer platform, and model orchestration
- Define platform abstractions and capabilities that serve both SMB and Mortgage business units without creating one-off solutions
- Make crisp prioritization decisions across competing BU needs, balancing near-term delivery with long-term platform scalability
AI/ML, Automation & Agentic Services
- Own end-to-end human-in-the-loop learning systems, including task design, feedback loops, and data generation to continuously improve model performance
- Partner with the Automation and ML teams to advance document accuracy, classification models, and extraction pipelines
- Drive the product strategy for model orchestration, including how we evaluate, deploy, and monitor AI/ML models in production
- Be a thought partner to our vertical teams (SMB and Mortgage) on developing and executing agentic services. Help identify where AI agents can automate workflows, replace manual steps, and create step-function improvements in our products
- Translate emerging AI capabilities (LLMs, vision models, foundation models, agentic architectures) into practical platform features that create defensible competitive advantage
- Stay deeply curious about what's happening in AI/ML. Read papers, break things, form opinions. We need someone genuinely excited by the technology, not managing it from a distance
API & Developer Experience
- Own the developer-facing surface area of Ocrolus: APIs, documentation, webhooks, and integration patterns
- Define the platform contract that internal teams and external customers build against
- Drive improvements in API reliability, latency, and developer ergonomics
Cross-BU Collaboration & Stakeholder Management
- Navigate competing priorities across SMB and Mortgage product teams, acting as the connective tissue between vertical needs and horizontal capabilities
- Partner closely with operations teams to ensure platform capabilities effectively handle edge cases and real-world variability in document workflows
- Partner with engineering leadership to align on technical architecture, capacity allocation, and build-vs-buy decisions
- Communicate platform strategy and tradeoffs clearly to executive leadership
Execution & Team Building
- Lead a team of platform product managers
- Define and drive accuracy-first quality frameworks specific to document intelligence, including measurement and continuous improvement
- Ship iteratively with a bias toward learning, not perfection
- Roll up your sleeves. Prototype with code, vibe code solutions, build quick proofs-of-concept. We value PMs who do, not just spec
- Define platform metrics, SLAs, and health indicators that create accountability
Who we're looking for (Skill Sets and Qualifications):
- Experience in product management, with years of owning platform, infrastructure, or developer-facing products
- Technical/engineering background (CS, engineering degree, or equivalent hands-on experience). You can read architecture diagrams, reason about system design, and hold your own with senior engineers
- Deep AI fluency and intellectual curiosity. You follow what's happening in AI/ML because you're genuinely interested, not because the job requires it. You have opinions about model architectures, tooling, and where the space is headed
- Demonstrated experience building and scaling AI/ML-powered products or platforms in production environments
- Hands-on builder mentality. You've prototyped solutions, written code (or vibe coded) to test ideas, and don't wait for engineering to validate every hypothesis
- Track record of working at growth-stage companies (Series B-D, $20M-$200M ARR) where you had to build systems, not just manage them
- Strong cross-functional leadership: you've navigated competing stakeholder priorities and made tradeoff decisions that stuck
- Experience managing or mentoring other product managers
- Experience in fintech, lending, document processing, or financial data infrastructure

We’re looking for a Mortgage Forward-Deployed Engineer (FDE) to join our team and be the bridge between our product and our customers. This is not your standard engineering role, you’ll be out in the field, working directly with clients, writing production code, and helping them reimagine how they run their business with our platform. You will be working directly with our Account Management team, implementation team and onboarding team. This role reports to the VP of Account Management.
As an FDE, you’ll wear different hats: engineer, architect, and trusted advisor. One day you might be prototyping a custom integration; the next, you’re running a proof-of-value with a C-suite exec; the next, you’re feeding back product insights that shape the roadmap. If you like variety, ownership, and making real-world impact, you’ll love this role. This role will report to our Lead Forward-Deployed Engineer and be a part of the Account Management team.
What you'll do:
- Act as a technical expert and trusted advisor during the post-sales process, embed with customer teams to understand their workflows and demonstrate how Ocrolus’ technology improves efficiency in mortgage origination.
- Review and consult on technical solutions, APIs, microservices, data pipelines, and integrations that solve real business problems.
- Build and support technical solutions and integrations for mortgage clients using Ocrolus, Encompass, and other POS/LOS mortgage platforms.
- Run proof-of-concepts and proof-of-value engagements that demonstrate ROI fast.
- Troubleshoot gnarly technical issues in live environments and get things back on track.
- Partner with the Account Management and Product teams to deliver value, and influence the roadmap.
- Travel occasionally (~30–50%) to customer sites and industry events
Who we're looking for: (Skill Sets and Qualifications)
- 3+ years of experience in software engineering, solutions engineering, or technical consulting.
- 3+ years of a background in mortgage, or lending workflows.
- Strong understanding and experience with Encompass
- Strong consultative sales/account management approach—able to map technology to business challenges and drive change management conversations.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with experience engaging senior mortgage executives.
- Backend: Python; APIs; Encompass Developer Connect; SQL.
- Frontend: React/TypeScript; JavaScript with ICE Secure Scripting Framework (SSF) for Encompass custom form and workflow logic.
- Supporting: Familiarity with mortgage LOS/POS platforms (Encompass, Blend, SimpleNexus, Floify); Git; cloud basics (AWS/Azure).
- Thrive in fast-paced, ambiguous environments where you figure it out and get it done.
Nice to Have:
- Experience with SaaS integrations or loan origination systems.
- Additional mortgage LOS/POS experience
- Exposure to AI/ML or generative AI.
Why You’ll Love It Here
- You’ll have ownership from day one, our FDEs lead projects end-to-end.
- You’ll work directly with customers and see the immediate impact of what you build.
- You’ll shape the product by bringing the voice of the customer straight to engineering.
- You’ll work directly with a team focused on creating an excellent client experience
- You’ll have fun working with a highly proactive, collaborative team
