Growth Engineer (Remote)
Data quality is the bottleneck of the AI era. Every Fortune 500 is trying to solve it. We're the team they call.
Soda is the data quality layer for Disney, Ralph Lauren, CBRE, HelloFresh, 2K Games, and Nubank. The category is growing rapidly because AI doesn't work on bad data.
We're hiring a GTM Engineer to build the machinery that gets that message to the people who need it. You'll join the Growth team reporting to a co-founder, and build the systems the rest of the team runs on: content, visuals, videos, skills, agents- whatever the biggest constraint is that quarter. Your first and largest project is the content engine.
We publish a lot - webinars, technical blogs, founder LinkedIn, product marketing - and most of it is still hand-made. Your job is to build a pipeline that turns a raw source into content a Staff Data Engineer or CDO with 20 years of experience would read and forward: real prompt engineering, a defined voice per author, evals that catch regressions, and the taste to kill output that's accurate and lifeless. Anti-slop is the point: an engine that ships slop faster has negative value. We build agentically here - Claude Code, MCP servers, and agent skills are the daily workflow.
What You'll Do
- Build the content engine end-to-end: ingestion, theme extraction, drafting, evals, and the review step
- Create content including webinars and product videos
- Own and grow audience
- Our team writes in distinct ways; the engine should sound like them, not like a model.
- Make quality measurable.
- Own the numbers - reach, engagement, pipeline influence - and cut what doesn't work.
- Contribute the rest of the Growth stack as constraints move.
- Work directly with the founders, customers, customer engineers, to lean and improve on how Soda talks about the category. Your opinion matters here.
You Should Have
- 3+ years building things that go to market: growth engineering, marketing ops, technical content, RevOps, or a founder background. Titles vary; portfolios don't.
- You can write, story tell, and you can tell good writing from bad: send us something you wrote that a technical audience read. The most important line in this ad.
- Serious prompt engineering: multi-step LLM pipelines with structured outputs and evals, not chatting with a model. You know why the naive version produces slop.
- Enough code to be autonomous: Python or TypeScript, APIs, webhooks, a database. Nothing should be blocked waiting for an engineer.
- Generalist instinct: you find the constraint and fix it, and you'd rather build the workflow than do the task fifteen more times.
- Enough data fluency to be credible: you can hold your own on pipelines, dbt, and warehouses.
- Independence: you don't need hand-holding in a distributed, async team across 12+ countries.
- Fluent English.
Good to Have
- Marketing or growth in data, developer tools, or infrastructure.
- You've grown a technical audience of your own: newsletter, blog, LinkedIn, open source.
- Building agentic workflows: MCP servers, Claude skills, or tool-using agents shipped to real users.
- Data quality, data management, or data observability industry experience.
- $120,000-$130,000 base salary + equity.
- Fully remote (US-based), with our Brooklyn office available if you want one.
- All the tokens you need, across all frontier models.
- Real ownership, real impact, no micromanagement.
- PTO, 401k, medical insurance.
Our Values
We value freedom with responsibility, transparency, and a growth mindset. We avoid politics, have no tolerance for dishonesty, and value open and direct communication without judgment. We proactively bring up and address potential issues before they become critical, and we overcommunicate frequently. Working at Soda, you will have full autonomy to make impactful decisions.
❤️ Why you will love to join Soda
- You own a function, not a queue: the content engine is yours to design, and behind it is a list of things nobody here has built yet.
- Direct line to the founders: how Soda talks about the category gets decided with you in the room.
- Be part of a transformation: data quality is having its moment, and we're at the front of it.
- Work on your own terms: fully remote, flexible hours, colleagues in 12+ countries.
😡 What you might not love
- Rapidly changing priorities: our roadmap can pivot quickly. It's a fast-paced environment with a LOT of work to be done.
- New and broad: no playbook for this role yet, and you'll be judged on output, not architecture. An elegant pipeline nobody reads from is a failure.
Hiring Process
- Screening - send one piece of writing or video you're proud of, and one thing you've built with AI.
- 20-minute phone screen - with a founder
- Craft deep dive (90 min)
- Culture fit (1 hour)
We answer every application, and every candidate hears back within 3-5 days of each step. If it's not a hell yes, it's a no, and we'll tell you quickly and kindly.
Lead Sales Engineer (Remote)
Data quality is the bottleneck of the AI era. Every Fortune 500 is trying to solve it. We're the team they call.
Soda is the data quality layer for Disney, Ralph Lauren, CBRE, HelloFresh, 2K Games, and Nubank. The category is growing rapidly because AI doesn't work on bad data.
We're hiring a remote Lead Sales Engineer to own the technical side of our biggest enterprise deals and to bring up the SEs behind you. Direct line to the CRO, Director of Customer Engineering, and product team - no layers.
Who this is this for
Sales Engineers who've already done the job well and want more than another quota to support. You've owned the technical win on enterprise deals, and you're already the person junior SEs come to after a demo went sideways.
If you want a big-company SE org with an enablement team, this isn't it. If you want the hardest deals and the machine that makes everyone else better at them, this is it.
What you'll do
- Own the technical win on our largest enterprise deals - first technical call through architecture review, security review, PoC, and closed-won
- Scope PoCs against the customer's stated success criteria, and hold the scope so evaluations actually finish
- Own technical and security responses on RFPs, including SOC 2 and infosec questions from regulated buyers
- Ramp new US SEs - their onboarding, their first demos, and the call on when they're ready to go solo
- Coach demos and run technical deal reviews. Tell people what didn't land and why
- Build the reusable stuff - demo environments, PoC templates, competitive positioning
Hiring process
- Phone screen interview - 15 minute call with a founder
- Recorded demo - We'll give you access to the product. You'll record a short demo of Soda to a hypothetical customer.
- Deep dive interview - one deal you won, one you lost, and scoping a PoC from a short scenario
- Culture fit with the team
What you might not love
- Priorities move. Expansion phase, a lot of work, not a lot of process.
- No enablement team. If the PoC template doesn't exist, you write it.
Must have
- 6+ years as a Sales Engineer, Solutions Engineer, or Solutions Architect at a B2B SaaS company, on enterprise deals - $100K+ ACV, multiple stakeholders, three-month-plus cycles
- You've developed other SEs - onboarding, demo coaching, or mentoring. Tell us who you brought up and what you actually did
- Fluent in Python and SQL - you can read, write, and debug both in front of a customer
- Strong customer communication - clear, calm, and honest under pressure. You can explain something technically complex to a Data Engineer and to a CDO in the same conversation
- You give feedback that lands - specific, about the work and not the person. You'd rather have the awkward conversation this week than the same one in three months
- Builder mentality, humble, high-horsepower - you write docs without being asked, you'd rather automate a task than repeat it, and you'd rather learn what you're missing than bluff it
- Based in the US
Nice to have
- Experience selling data quality, governance, or observability tools
- Experience selling into regulated industries - financial services, pharma, energy, insurance
- Data stack fluency - Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery, dbt, Airflow, Kafka
- Interest in growing into a management track
- Base salary: $160,000-$180,000
- Equity - everyone full-time at Soda is a shareholder
- Location: Remote (US-based)
- Benefits: PTO, 401k, medical insurance
Sales Engineer (NYC)
Data quality is the bottleneck of the AI era. Every Fortune 500 is trying to solve it. We're the team they call.
Soda is the data quality layer for Disney, Ralph Lauren, CBRE, HelloFresh, 2K Games, and Nubank. The category is growing rapidly because AI doesn't work on bad data.
We're hiring a Sales Engineer in our Brooklyn HQ, working in-person with the CEO, CMO, and the rest of the GTM team. You'll work on enterprise deals with the most technical buyers in the market, learn the full sales cycle from people who've built and sold to enterprises before, and grow fast.
Who this is for
Sales Engineers with a couple of years under their belt who want to level up. You've run demos, supported PoCs, and worked with AEs on real deals - now you want to do it at a startup where the deals are technical, and you can move fast without layers of process getting in the way.
You'll work directly with AEs, and the CRO on enterprise accounts. You'll run demos, scope PoCs, and own the technical side of deals - with support when you need it and room to grow into bigger deals as you prove yourself.
What you'll do
- Run demos and scope PoCs alongside our AEs, from first technical call through to closed-won
- Translate customer problems into Soda solutions, and translate Soda's capabilities into the customer's language
- Build custom demos, sample pipelines, and PoC environments that show real value
- Own product, technical, and security responses on RFPs and RFIs
- Support customers through evaluation, purchasing, and implementation
- Be the technical voice in the room - with Data Engineers, Heads of Data Platform, and Chief Data Officers
- Feed product and engineering the signal from the field - what's winning, what's losing, and why
- Travel occasionally to customer sites, team offsites, and conferences
- Wear many hats - it's a startup, you'll touch every stage of the sales cycle
How you'll operate
- In-person from day one in Brooklyn, sitting next to the CEO and CMO
- Direct line to the CRO, co-founder, and product team - no layers
- Learn the product deeply - Soda Core (open source) and Soda Cloud (commercial)
- Learn the enterprise data stack - Snowflake, Databricks, dbt, Airflow, Kafka
Must have
- 1-3 years as a Sales Engineer, Solutions Engineer, or similar customer-facing technical role at a B2B SaaS company
- Undergraduate degree (or higher) in a technical field - Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Engineering, or similar
- Fluent in Python - you can read, write, and debug it in front of a customer
- Experience running demos and supporting PoCs in customer environments
- Strong customer communication - clear, calm, and honest under pressure. You can explain something technically complex to a Data Engineer and to a VP of Data in the same conversation
- Builder mentality, process-oriented - you want to optimize and streamline boring processes. You write docs without being asked. You notice when a process is broken and propose a fix. You'd rather build an AI workflow to automate a repetitive task than do it manually three more times - and you have examples of doing exactly that
- High horsepower and ruthless prioritization - you context-switch well, manage multiple projects with expansive ownership, and don't drop balls
- Have a humble attitude, an eagerness to help others, and a desire to pick up whatever knowledge you're missing to make both your team and our customers succeed
- Based in NYC or willing to relocate
Nice to have
- Top university degree
- Experience selling to data teams (Data Engineers, Data Platform, CDOs)
- Familiarity with data quality, governance, or observability tools
- Data stack fluency - Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery, dbt, Airflow, Kafka
- Experience at a high-growth Series A-C startup
