Senior Manager, Data Engineering drives the simplification and optimization of concurrent project delivery, scheduling, and any processes that cross team boundaries. Senior Manager, Data Engineering proactively identifies and mitigates risks before they become roadblocks. They demonstrate good judgment in how and when to escalate without damaging relationships.
What You'll Do:
Team Leadership & People Development
- Lead, mentor, and grow a team of highly skilled data engineers, fostering technical excellence and career development.
- Manage team performance from both a technical and personnel perspective, supporting each team member's individual goals and growth.
- Own on-call rotation structure and reduce operational toil through automation and self-service tooling.
Technical Strategy & Architecture
- Design and implement data architecture and infrastructure that aligns with business objectives, including the team's work on a secure, interoperable platform leveraged across all Unite Us products.
- Drive the design, performance, and cost-efficiency of the data lakehouse, data modeling standards, access controls, and query optimization.
- Establish and enforce engineering best practices: code review standards, testing, CI/CD, monitoring, and incident response for data pipelines.
- Champion strong documentation practices — runbooks, architecture decision records, and onboarding guides.
Roadmap & Execution
- Own creation and execution of the team's roadmap, defining priorities, sequencing initiatives, and aligning timelines with business goals.
- Manage team capacity planning, sprint/project planning, and roadmap prioritization in collaboration with stakeholders.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with Application Engineers, Product Managers, and other engineering teams to translate data needs and business requirements into scalable pipeline designs and platform extensions.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to translate high-level initiatives into actionable team goals, advocate for necessary resources, and report on key performance indicators.
- Disseminate clear goals, context, and vision across the team and with cross-functional partners.
Hiring & Talent
- Participate in hiring: define role requirements, conduct interviews, and build a strong bench of talent.
You’re a great fit for this role if:
- At least 7+ years of experience with a track record of building and scaling high-performing engineering teams and delivering high-quality software solutions.
- At least 3+ years of direct management experience with product-focused engineering teams.
- Experience with cross-functional collaboration, data-driven performance tracking, and direct customer or stakeholder engagement.
- Proven experience owning production data pipelines at scale, ideally with Apache Airflow (DAG design, scheduling, backfills, sensor/operator patterns)
- Deep hands-on experience with Snowflake or a comparable cloud data warehouse (Redshift, BigQuery), including performance tuning, cost management, and analytic layers
- Strong SQL and at least one scripting language (Python preferred) for pipeline development
- Experience with modern data stack tooling (dbt, Fivetran/Airbyte, Kafka, or similar) is a plus
- Experience with data governance, lineage, or data quality frameworks
- Experience operating in a regulated or compliance-sensitive data environment
- BS/BA degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.

The Care Coordinator supports customers by using the Unite Us Platform and providing the support and guidance needed to deliver high-quality Care Coordination. Care Coordinators are platform experts who interact directly with clients seeking services and with the partners that provide resources and support to Care Coordination customers’ clients.Care Coordinators conduct client needs assessments and assist clients in identifying social determinants of health resources to meet their needs. Care Coordinators also follow up with clients and resources to ensure identified needs are addressed and resolved. Care Coordinators also support Network Health Monitoring by combining platform expertise, referral support, and data-informed insight to help strengthen coordinated care networks and improve community outcomes. This includes monitoring network activity, reviewing key performance indicators, identifying referral trends, supporting partner responsiveness, and flagging potential gaps or barriers that may impact care coordination across healthcare providers, government agencies, and community-based organizations. Referral & Care Coordination
- Connect clients with the most appropriate services based on individual needs, eligibility, and geographic preference, informed by first-hand knowledge of the provider network, not just a generic resource list.
- Monitor customer and partner referrals to support timely action, appropriate outcomes, and successful client connection to services.
- Conduct follow-up with clients and service providers to confirm receipt of services/benefits, and, where applicable by contract, work with clients toward their health goals to ensure recommended actions are completed.

- Build and maintain working relationships with CBOs and other providers on the Unite Us platform, serving as a trusted point of contact and a resource for the network.

- Own Network Health Monitoring responsibilities: identify referral trends, partner responsiveness concerns, service gaps, and workflow barriers that could impact care coordination outcomes.
- Proactively engage CBOs to clean up and maintain accurate referral data and organization records on the platform, ensuring the network remains reliable and up to date.
- Share network observations, referral barriers, and partner engagement insights with leadership and cross-functional teams to support network health, customer goals, and continuous improvement.
