This in-office expectation does not apply to contractor positions ABOUT THE ROLE We are looking for a Director of Government Affairs to join our fast-growing Government Team. You will develop and execute legislative strategies, shape strategic communications, and manage engagements in Congressional and Executive branches. Duties will include shaping and monitoring legislation related to autonomy and AI in defense, developing positions and responses to policy and appropriations, and representing the company in front of key policymakers. AT APPLIED INTUITION, YOU WILL: - Develop, maintain, and build networks of relationships with Members of Congress and Congressional staff on relevant Appropriations and Authorization Committees and Subcommittees - Shape federal legislative priorities, political strategy, and policy development; understand business priorities, growth opportunities and potential risks to inform policy objectives - Work closely with Applied’s business development teams, external government affairs consultants, associations, and industry partners - Draft legislative language, policy briefings and presentations, hearing testimony, and position papers - Build coalitions across interest groups for trusted autonomy - Monitor and analyze federal legislative proposals - Partner with cross-functional leaders to ensure successful completion across any special projects WE'RE LOOKING FOR SOMEONE WHO HAS: - 5-10 years of Capitol Hill, federal government, and/or issue advocacy experience - Familiarity with federal legislative landscape and Appropriations/Authorization processes - Expertise in defense, national security, autonomy, and/or emerging technologies - Established bipartisan relationships with relevant Congressional offices and committees - Ability to prioritize and multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment - Strong organizational skills and highly detail-oriented - Proven track record of execution - A sense of humor NICE TO HAVE: - 1-3 years of lobbying experience - “Can-do” attitude–no task is too small - Graduate degree with a focus on legislative process, technology, and/or national security - Technical background, particularly related to autonomy or artificial intelligence Compensation at Applied Intuition for eligible roles includes base salary, equity, and benefits. AT APPLIED INTUITION, YOU WILL: - Conduct research on reinforcement learning (RL) related topics including large-scale self-play RL, VLA post-training, large-scale closed-loop RL based on neural simulation with applications to autonomous driving - Diving into fundamental topics on RL with broader applications and potential imitative behavior learning incorporation, and relevant topics such as reward learning - Work closely with the Research Scientists and Engineers on high quality research publications for submission to top-tier conferences WE’RE LOOKING FOR SOMEONE WHO HAS: - Strong research background and skills on relevant topics, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively on projects - Current PhD (or MSc) studies in machine learning, computer vision and graphics, robotics - Passion for next-generation, scalable autonomy and robotics Don’t meet every single requirement?
