About Base
Base is America’s next-generation power company. We’re rebuilding the foundation of modern civilization–electricity–by deploying a vast network of distributed batteries that is transforming today’s fragile, centralized grid into a resilient and abundant system. We are engineers, operators, and creatives solving some of the most complex, interdisciplinary challenges of our time.
About the Role
The business operations team at Base is a lean group of generalists who take high-stakes, not-very-defined problems, gives them structure, and drives them to completion. The work changes with the company's priorities: one quarter it's owning the integration of an acquisition end to end, the next it's structuring a partnership with a national brand, building the analysis behind a new market entry, or standing up the operating cadence for a function scaling faster than its process. Whatever the assignment, the shape is the same: you build the plan, run the cadence, and keep the scoreboard, all while working with teammates across the company (systems, market operations, legal, finance, customer operations). You get results through clarity, pace, and follow-through. Then you move to the next problem of similar weight across our commercial and financial priorities; there is always a list for effective generalists who know the business well.
What You’ll Do
Own one high-leverage problem at a time; today that's the integration of a recent acquisition; next it might be a commercial partnership, a market entry, or a financing
Structure ambiguous problems; define the goal, name the owners, write the memo that forces the tradeoff, and get leadership to a decision in days, not weeks
Build the analysis yourself; the model, the scoreboard, the one-pager
Run programs across functions without authority; rally owners in engineering, market operations, legal, finance, and customer operations around the mission
Work directly with Base's leadership team; your work usually touches the highest-level decisions
Know the business cold; spend time with the deployment, markets, and customer teams so your recommendations survive contact with reality
What You’ll Bring
4-8 years including a foundation at a top consulting firm with top-bucket ratings; bonus points if followed by an operating seat where you owned outcomes, not recommendations
A cross-functional program you personally ran end to end; an integration, market entry, partnership launch, or turnaround
Analytical horsepower; you build the model yourself, sanity-check it against reality, and know which three numbers matter
Writing that moves decisions
Comfort operating without a map; you define your own mandate, create structure where none exists, and don't need permission to start
Low ego, high ownership; you'll chase down a wire confirmation and present to the leadership team in the same afternoon
Fluency working alongside AI; you use agents to multiply your output, and you know when to check their work
About the Team
The Base business operations team is responsible for some of the company's highest-leverage outcomes: financing our growth, commercial partnerships, acquisitions and integrations, new market and product entries, and the programs that span too many teams to have a natural owner. It is a set of small teams of generalists who work directly with Base's founders, pick up the problem that matters most, build the structure and analysis it needs, and hand back something that runs itself.
Please note: Base is a startup, which means priorities shift and evolve quickly. Your role may expand or change based on the needs of the business at any given time, so the responsibilities listed may not be exhaustive.
Our Values
First Principles Thinking: Question assumptions. Principles > rules.
Operate at Base Pace: Focus on what matters, act quickly, and learn by doing.
Give & Get Feedback: Be direct, be humble, and maintain a growth mindset.
Everyone’s an Owner: Follow through on commitments and own results.
Strong Opinions, Loosely Held: Drive clarity and make calls with imperfect information.
Committed to the Mission: Rebuilding the grid is a big challenge. We work hard because we care deeply about the impact we’re creating. We work in-person. It’s not a 9-to-5. We are all-in.
Fun & Optimism Coexist with Grit: Collaboration and celebration coincide with the intensity of building real things.
Do the best work of your life at Base.

This is the single finance partner for the organization that gets a Base battery from the factory to the house and maintains it for its full life. You own the economics of install and field service end-to-end — electrician labor, logistics, permitting, truck rolls, parts, warranty, and the full 10+ year lifecycle cost of every battery in the fleet. As Base scales to thousands of homes per month across Texas and into new markets, the install-cost-per-home curve and the service-cost-per-fleet-year curve are two of the most consequential lines in the long-range plan. Success is judged on two things: how close your forecast lands, and whether deployments and field-ops leaders treat you as a valuable partner in driving toward our long-term targets.
What You’ll Do
Own the forecast and BvA for install cost, field labor, logistics, permitting, and ongoing O&M — at a level of accuracy that survives both the operator's eye and the corporate model.
Build the unit-cost model for installations — flexed across geographies, channels, crew structures, and site complexity — and reconcile it weekly against job-level data from the field.
Partner with deployments and field-service leadership on the cost-down roadmap — drive install-cost-per-home down, route density up, and rework out of the system.
Own the financial framework for the 10+ year service obligation — truck rolls, parts consumption, warranty reserves, and fleet lifecycle margin — and translate it into the per-battery economics that govern the unit model.
Sit at the intersection of field ops, supply chain, customer service, and accounting — feed clean, defensible inputs into the consolidated corporate model and translate the model back into something a crew lead can act on.
Go ride installs and service calls — pressure-test a number with the crew before you defend it in a review.
Use AI tooling aggressively to compress cycle time on job-level analytics and forecasting — automate the pull from dispatch, ERP, and field systems so your time goes to judgment, not data plumbing.
What You’ll Bring
3-7 years in finance or operations at a deployment-, field-service-, or logistics-heavy business at meaningful scale — Sunrun, Sunnova, ChargePoint, EVgo, Tesla Energy, last-mile logistics, or comparable. However, also open to generalists from operating finance roles, consulting, investing, or investment banking roles to jump in and learn this.
Track record of building install-cost or service-cost models that drove real cost-down programs in production — not just running someone else's model.
Strong intuition for field economics — labor productivity, route density, fixed-vs-variable structure, the long tail of warranty cost — and a point of view on which levers actually compound.
Comfortable in the field — will ride along on an install, walk a service yard, and pressure-test a number with a crew lead before defending it to the CEO/COO.
First-principles instincts on physical operations — can model a network of trucks, technicians, parts, and homes without losing the unit, and knows where the model lies.
Excel and SQL as native tools; comfortable working with operational data at scale and getting into BI (Omni, Looker) directly rather than waiting on a request queue.
Thrives in ambiguity — structures the work, reaches defensible conclusions, documents clearly, and moves at Base Pace.
About the Team
The Base finance & business operations team is responsible for providing clear visibility on past and future performance across the business, financing our growth, capital allocation decisions, and supporting the broader Base team on key performance drivers. To succeed, Base must raise and deploy tens of billions of dollars, maintain sustainable unit economics, exercise extreme operating leverage, and balance supply/demand and growth/profitability in a complex and high-pace environment. The Finance team enables these by (i) building toward omniscience with sharp analytics and tools for observability, (ii) integrating with the business to support operational decisions, (iii) establishing tight controls and processes to cull complexity, and (iv) presenting Base to investors effectively.
Please note: Base is a startup, which means priorities shift and evolve quickly. Your role may expand or change based on the needs of the business at any given time, so the responsibilities listed may not be exhaustive.

This is the single finance partner for our go to market leaders. You own the economics of acquisition end-to-end in partnership with our GTM operators — pricing, CAC by channel, member pipeline efficiency, market sizing, and the penetration curve as Base expands from Texas into the next set of states. Pricing and CAC are two of the most consequential variables in Base's long-range P&L, and this seat owns the forecast and analytics of each. As the channel mix evolves across direct, utility partnerships, and emerging routes to the home, success is judged on two things: how close your forecast lands, and whether GTM leaders treat you as the partner who actually sharpens our decisions across pricing, acquisition spend, and channel allocation.
What You’ll Do
Own the forecast and BvA for member adds, CAC by channel, pipeline conversion, and pricing economics — at a level of accuracy that survives both the GTM operators and the corporate model.
Build the member unit-economics model — LTV by cohort, payback by channel, sensitivity to price, product mix, and market — and reconcile it against what the cohorts are actually doing.
Partner with growth, marketing, sales, and partnerships leadership on pricing and channel investment — translate proposals into defensible cases, and challenge an allocation without becoming the no-person.
Build out the financial framework for utility partnerships and large GTM bets — structure the deal economics, set the bar, and track whether reality matches the case after it closes.
Size markets and model the penetration curve as Base enters new geographies — turn a market expansion thesis into a member, revenue, and CAC plan the operators can execute against.
Sit at the intersection of growth, marketing, sales, product, and accounting — feed clean, defensible inputs into the consolidated corporate model and translate the model back into something a channel owner can act on.
Use AI tooling aggressively to compress cycle time on cohort and channel analytics — automate the pull from CRM, marketing, and billing systems so your time goes to pricing judgment, not data wrangling.
What You’ll Bring
3-7 years in finance or business operations at a consumer, DTC, or growth-heavy business at meaningful scale — consumer energy, consumer fintech, marketplaces, subscription DTC, or comparable. However, also open to generalists from operating finance roles, consulting, investing, or investment banking roles to jump in and learn this.
Track record of building cohort-based unit-economics and pricing models that drove real pricing or channel-allocation decisions — not just running someone else's dashboard.
Strong pricing intuition and unit-economics fluency — LTV, CAC, payback, contribution margin, and cohort analysis are native tools, not concepts you look up.
Comfortable with growth and marketing leaders — can challenge a channel allocation, defend a pricing move, and earn the room without becoming the friction.
First-principles instincts on consumer demand — can model a funnel, a market, and a price curve end-to-end, and has a point of view on which levers actually compound.
Excel and SQL as native tools; comfortable in CRM, marketing, and BI systems (Omni, Looker) directly rather than waiting on a request queue.
Thrives in ambiguity — structures the work, reaches defensible conclusions, documents clearly, and moves at Base Pace.
