SALES DEVELOPMENT REPRESENTATIVE
ABOUT STREAM
Stream powers real-time Chat https://getstream.io/chat/, Video https://getstream.io/video/, Activity Feeds https://getstream.io/activity-feeds/, and AI Moderation https://getstream.io/moderation/ for billions of end-users across thousands of apps, from Strava and Bumble to eBay and Patreon. Our platform processes billions of API requests per month and supports applications with millions of concurrent users, while delivering highly reliable, low-latency services and a great developer experience.
THE ROLE
We're looking for a Sales Development Representative dedicated to our Video product to join Stream on our mission of elevating the quality of apps for billions of users globally. You'll build the top of our pipeline and set the tone for how prospects first experience Stream.
This is a full-time role based in our Boulder office, three days a week in the office. It's a fast way to learn technical sales and own real revenue impact early. You'll report directly to the GTM Lead for Video, working as part of a dedicated product team rather than a general sales pool, a fast way to learn technical sales in a high-demand category and own real revenue impact early.
WHAT YOU'LL WORK ON
You'll partner with our Account Executives on Video outbound, and work with managers to test new outbound ideas. Day to day, you'll write outbound messaging that's worth reading, run sharp qualification on cold calls, and personalize your outreach rather than blasting templates.
Responsibilities:
- Identify, research, and qualify new business through targeted outbound prospecting
- Run strong discovery to understand a prospect's needs and connect them to Stream
- Book qualified meetings with ICP prospects across phone, email, LinkedIn, and creative outreach
- Work closely with AEs: join intro calls and make the handoff clean
- Hit your activity and pipeline goals by keeping the top of funnel healthy
- Keep CRM data accurate in Salesforce
- Know Stream's AI moderation product, value, ICP, and competitors well enough to speak to them naturally
ABOUT YOU
You're motivated, curious, and comfortable with a "no" on the way to a "yes." You think about outbound strategically, you like running experiments, and a fast-changing environment suits you. You're a self-starter who wants to learn the fundamentals of technical sales and contribute to revenue from the start.
You have:
- 3-6+ months of SDR or outbound lead-gen experience at a tech company
- Cold calling and emailing skills you can point to results for
- Experience with CRMs and sales engagement tools
- Strong business sense and the ability to think on your feet
- Clear, persuasive written and verbal communication
- Resilience: you handle rejection and stay motivated
- Experience in a fast-paced, goal-oriented environment
Bonus points:
- Experience at a SaaS startup
- Exposure to API-driven or developer-focused products
- Experience communicating with technical personas (engineering, product)
- Familiarity with WebRTC, real-time video or livestreaming
WHAT MAKES THIS ROLE EXCITING
- You're the first impression prospects get of Stream, and you influence how companies keep their platforms safe at scale.
- You sit at the start of the pipeline, so your work shows up directly in how Stream grows.
- You'll join a strong GTM team across EMEA, APAC, and the US and talk to recognizable brands.
- You'll learn fast from people who sell a genuinely technical product, and there's real room to grow into an AE or other GTM roles.
WHY JOIN STREAM?
Stream builds the real-time infrastructure behind Chat, Video, Activity Feeds, and AI Moderation for apps used by billions of people. Our aim is to become the AWS of components: we take hard technical problems and turn them into SDKs that let developers ship better apps faster.
We're a Series B company with offices in Amsterdam, Boulder, Toronto, Skopje, and a team of around 150 people from more than 35 countries. We're backed by Felicis Ventures, GGV Capital, 01 Advisors, Techstars, and Arthur Ventures, with angels including Dick Costolo (ex-CEO of Twitter), Olivier Pomel (CEO of Datadog), Tom Preston-Werner (co-founder of GitHub), and Nicolas Dessaigne (co-founder of Algolia).
We'll be straight with you: a startup is more demanding than a large company. There's no fixed playbook, you'll own your results, and you'll sometimes pick up work outside your title. That's also what makes it a fast place to grow. If you want real ownership more than structure and a set path, you'll feel at home here.
WHAT WE OFFER
- 19+ days paid time off plus 10 paid holidays
- Hybrid work (three days a week in the office)
- Health insurance for you and partial coverage for dependents (80% for health, 100% for dental and vision)
- 401k with a 4% match
- Company equity
- A fitness stipend
- A dog-friendly office
- A MacBook Pro
- A learning and development budget
- Team lunches and snacks
- An RTD pass and a free parking pass on Pearl Street
- An office on Pearl Street in downtown Boulder
- 12 weeks paid parental leave for primary parents
- The chance to attend or present at conferences and meetups
- The option to visit our Amsterdam office
This list applies to Colorado-based employees and is adjusted to your location of residence.

OUR CULTURE

ABOUT THE ROLE
As an EM for Semgrep's supply chain team, you’ll lead a team building customer-facing tools to help developers secure their software from vulnerabilities introduced by dependencies. Other supply chain management tools exist, but they produce far too much noise to be useful or efficient. Security teams may review thousands of vulnerabilities, informing developers that hundreds of their dependencies have introduced critical vulnerabilities and need updating, when in reality they are not even using those dependencies in a vulnerable way. Perhaps you’ve even felt this pain yourself!
Our goal is to cut through the noise: to make it easy to find and remediate the 20% of vulnerabilities that are actually reachable given the way our customers’ use their dependencies. We work to make supply chain security as simple and intuitive for our users as possible so developers can focus on their own mission.
You'll help Semgrep be the leading application security platform while mentoring junior engineers, collaborating on customer-loved tools, architecting data systems, and helping users understand their security posture. Through Semgrep's culture of transparency, you'll see and influence the decisions that make a startup successful.
You will:
- Work closely with your product and design partners to create a roadmap for the success of your product that balances iterative changes with big bets
- Prioritize and direct your team’s schedule, balancing the needs of developing new technology and internal technical quality
- Retain and strengthen engineers with coaching and mentorship, regular feedback, performance reviews, and performance management when necessary
- Build an environment of trust that rewards creativity, risk taking, and personal responsibility
- Continually grow your team through the hiring of diverse, productive, high-level technical talent
You are ideal for this role if you have:
- 3+ years of experience leading software engineering teams
- A strong foundation in product development and bringing products to production via a multi-disciplinary engineering team - including understanding best practices for design, iterative milestone creation, and utilizing customer feedback
- Familiarity with agile development principles and iterative milestone development
- A strong desire to help engineers and other leaders grow through coaching and mentorship
- You have opinions on Software Composition Analysis, have built a security product before, or have worked at a dev tooling company
You might spend a typical day:
- Working with your team, product management, and engineering leadership to craft your team’s strategic direction and a strong quarter over quarter roadmap to execute on it
- Defining goals within a team meeting to ensure your team is executing on their short term goals week over week while providing them the vision for the future of the product
- Coaching a senior engineer, helping them gain the skills needed to lead and mentor other engineers through increasingly difficult projects
- Making direct technical contributions to help deliver new features and gain a strong understanding of the work your team is doing
Location expectations:
- Our expectation is that this role will be hybrid - requiring 3 days a week in our San Francisco office or our NYC office.
COMPENSATION
The estimated starting annual salary range for this position is $197,000- $288,000 . The actual base salary will be determined based on a number of factors, which may include job-related skills, relevant experience, qualifications, location, internal equity, and market data. In addition to base salary, total compensation may include equity, variable compensation, and benefits. We view equity as a meaningful part of our compensation philosophy and a way for employees to share in the long-term value they help create.
Compensation ranges are reviewed regularly and may be adjusted as the role, individual performance, or market conditions evolve.
WHAT WE OFFER (FTE ONLY)
Our goal is to competitively and fairly compensate every Semgrep employee with a system that equally rewards those who are vocal and those who are less comfortable making demands during the final steps of the hiring process. To that end, we generate internal compensation bands that are used when discussing and negotiating salaries. We update these based on market data to make sure they’re above the average for comparable roles.
We invest in our employees’ well-being and long-term success through a competitive, market-aligned benefits program that meets or exceeds local market standards across all of the regions in which we hire. Benefits offerings vary by location to reflect local requirements and norms. WHO WE ARE
We bring together people from a wide range of backgrounds and disciplines—from physics and philosophy to formal methods research and full-fledged corporations.
