The opportunity
As Chief of Staff, you will act as a trusted advisor and the operating right hand to Stepful’s co-founders, owning cross-functional problems and helping the leadership team run the company with focus, speed, and clarity as we scale. You will own the systems that keep the organization aligned (our rhythm of business, planning cadences, and leadership communications) while driving high-priority special projects. Rather than a fixed set of tasks, you will handle complex, evolving challenges, so success requires self-direction and the ability to create value without constant oversight.
This role reports directly to the CEO.

- Set agendas and follow up on action items so leadership time is spent on the highest-priority items
Run the company’s operating system (“Rhythm of Business”)

- Facilitate quarterly and annual planning: Own and continuously improve Stepful’s core operating cadences (Monthly and Quarterly Business Reviews)
- Track company-wide KPIs and maintain the systems behind them, partnering with Finance to keep leadership’s source of truth accurate and up to date
Lead executive, board, and investor communications
- Draft Board materials and monthly investor updates, assembling the underlying data analysis
- Capture and communicate the state of the business clearly and concisely for both internal and external audiences
Drive cross-functional special projects end to end
- Own high-impact, cross-functional initiatives from problem definition through execution, working across teams like Learning & Operations, Growth, Product, Sales/Workforce Solutions, and more
- Dive into data and processes to find the insight that matters and turn it into action; build the analysis yourself where needed
- Support leadership on select external and partner relationships
- Set direction for company-wide events that celebrate wins and strengthen culture, partnering with the Employee Experience Manager to bring them to life (e.g., now-annual company-wide Stepfest offsite)
Examples of past special projects: Building strategic partnerships to expand student career opportunities; opening a new revenue-driving growth channel; measuring and communicating Stepful's social impact to investors; and rolling out internal AI tooling to improve productivity.
What you’ll bring
- 5+ years of experience, including in consulting, business operations, or a similar role at a high-growth startup.
- Highly analytical, with a structured approach to breaking down ambiguous problems; comfortable working directly with data
- Excellent written and verbal communication: clear, concise, and credible with senior and external audiences
- A strong collaborator who leads through influence and coordinates diverse stakeholders across levels and functions
- Sound judgment and discretion with confidential and sensitive information
- An owner’s mindset: you take initiative, drive work to outcomes, and hold a high bar for execution
- You thrive in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment and learn quickly through experimentation
- Passionate about Stepful’s mission: Empowering communities with accessible pathways to healthcare careers, regardless of background or circumstance.

The opportunity:
We're hiring our first Director of IT to build Stepful's IT and security function from the ground up. You'll own our path to SOC 2 certification and everything that keeps a fast-growing company running securely — from identity and access management to the laptop that lands on every new hire's desk. This is a hands-on role to start: you'll operate as an individual contributor, set the strategy, and build out a team as the company scales.
This role reports directly to the SVP, Engineering and partners closely with Engineering, Finance, People, and our B2B teams across the organization.
This is a hybrid opportunity based out of our NYC office, requiring three days/week (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday) in office.
What you'll do:
-
Security & Compliance: Own Stepful's security program end to end, leading our SOC 2 effort from readiness assessment through audit and ongoing compliance
-
Define and enforce security policies, identity and access management, and least-privilege controls across the organization (SSO, MFA, access reviews)
-
Support our B2B healthcare partnerships by owning security questionnaires, vendor assessments, and customer audit requests
-
IT Operations: Own the full equipment lifecycle — procurement, MDM deployment, inventory, and seamless onboarding/offboarding for every employee
-
Manage our SaaS application stack, including provisioning, access governance, vendor security reviews, and spend optimization
-
Build scalable IT support processes and serve as the escalation point for day-to-day IT needs, rolling up your sleeves while the function is small
-
Partner with Engineering on incident response, endpoint security, and infrastructure hardening
-
Team Building: Define the long-term IT roadmap and build, hire, and lead the team as Stepful's needs grow
What you'll bring:
-
8+ years of IT experience, including experience leading IT or security functions at a high-growth startup
-
Hands-on experience driving a SOC 2 certification (Type I and II) from readiness through audit
-
Deep expertise with the modern IT stack: MDM (e.g., Kandji, Jamf), identity providers (e.g., Okta, Google Workspace), and endpoint security tooling
-
Proven ability to operate as a strategic leader and a hands-on individual contributor at the same time
-
Strong vendor management skills across hardware, software, and audit partners
-
Exceptional communication skills with the ability to make security and compliance accessible to non-technical teams
-
A builder's mindset — you're energized by creating processes and systems from scratch, not inheriting them
Bonus points if:
-
You have experience with HIPAA or healthcare data compliance

You've built an IT function from zero at a scaling company
-
You've worked in EdTech, healthcare, or another mission-driven industry

The opportunity:
We're hiring a Data Lead to own Stepful's data function — the infrastructure, analytics, and insights that power decisions across the company, from student outcomes to marketing spend. You'll lead a team of three data analysts and engineers while staying deeply hands-on: writing code, building models, and shipping analyses alongside your team. As we scale past 40,000 students graduates, the leverage of great data work has never been higher.
This role reports directly to the SVP, Engineering and partners closely with Growth, Product, Operations, and Finance across the organization.

What you'll do:

Lead, mentor, and grow a team of three data analysts and engineers, setting the standard for rigor and craft

Own Stepful's data platform end to end — pipelines, warehouse, transformation layer, and BI tooling — and its reliability and scalability
-
Define and maintain the company's core metrics across the student journey (enrollment, engagement, completion, certification, placement) and business performance (CAC, LTV, retention)
-
Build dashboards and self-serve analytics that put trustworthy data in every team's hands
-
Partner with Growth and Product on experimentation — design, instrumentation, and analysis of A/B tests
-
Deliver deep-dive analyses that shape strategic decisions, from program design to budget allocation
-
Stay hands-on: write production SQL and Python, review your team's work, and take on the hardest technical problems yourself
-
Establish data governance and quality practices that scale with the company
What you'll bring:
-
7+ years of data experience across analytics and data engineering, with at least 2+ years managing a team
-
Proven success as a player-coach — you set direction and manage people while still shipping your own work
-
Expert-level SQL and strong Python, with hands-on experience across the modern data stack (e.g., dbt, Snowflake/BigQuery, Airflow, Looker/Metabase)
-
Strong product and business sense — you connect data work to outcomes, not just deliverables
-
Experience designing and analyzing experiments in a high-growth environment
-
Exceptional communication skills with the ability to make complex findings clear to non-technical stakeholders
Bonus points if:

We're hiring our first dedicated Brand / Marketing Designer to own how Stepful's brand shows up across every marketing surface — print and digital. Today our marketing design lives across contractors and borrowed product design time; you'll bring it in-house and build the unified design system that makes every landing page, deck, one-pager, and piece of collateral unmistakably Stepful. You'll give form to our story: our Product Marketing Manager owns messaging and positioning, and you own how it looks and feels.
This role reports directly to the Head of Design, who sets the high-level creative vision, and partners closely with Product Marketing, Growth, and our B2B teams.
This is a hybrid opportunity based out of our NYC office, requiring three days/week (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday) in office.
What you'll do:
-
Own Stepful's applied brand across all marketing surfaces — marketing websites, landing pages, decks, one-pagers, digital assets, print, swag, and event collateral
-
Build and maintain a unified print and digital marketing design system — templates, components, and guidelines that let the team produce on-brand work without bespoke design each time
-
Rebuild and elevate our core marketing surfaces on that system, including stepful.com marketing pages, our employer-facing site, sales decks, and core collateral
-
Partner with our Product Marketing Manager in a tight working rhythm — they supply message and positioning, you deliver the visual form, with fast turnaround on launches and campaigns
-
Design polished, on-voice B2B client-facing materials that are accessible by default (WCAG 2.1 AA)
-
Design landing pages and campaign assets for paid and lifecycle marketing, partnering with Growth on conversion experiments
-
Bring print, swag, and event collateral production in-house with a consistent visual identity
-
Raise the bar on brand consistency across every touchpoint as Stepful scales
What you'll bring:
-
4+ years of brand or marketing design experience with a portfolio spanning both print and digital work
-
Experience architecting marketing design systems — templates, components, and guidelines — not just producing within them
-
Exceptional craft in typography, layout, and visual identity
-
Strong digital design skills, including Figma and modern web tooling (e.g., Webflow), with a solid grasp of responsive and conversion-oriented design
-
Working knowledge of accessible design and WCAG 2.1 AA standards
-
Ability to manage many concurrent projects at speed without letting quality slip
-
Strong collaboration instincts — you thrive on translating a partner's messaging into visuals and iterating quickly on feedback

You have motion design, animation, or video editing skills

Care first: We do whatever it takes for our students to succeed.
Learn quickly: We test, learn with data, and iterate.
Build together: We win when we rely on each other.

The opportunity:
We’re looking for a data-driven and creative Growth Marketing Senior Manager to take full ownership of some of our key paid channels. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a startup environment—rolling up their sleeves, testing fast, scaling what works, and pushing boundaries to hit ambitious growth targets.
You’ll manage high-velocity campaigns across Meta, Google, YouTube, and emerging platforms, with direct access to our in-house production studio and a talented creative team to bring bold ideas to life. If you love pairing data with storytelling—and want to see your work drive measurable impact on thousands of students’ lives—this is your stage.
This hybrid opportunity is based out of our NYC office, reporting directly into our VP of Growth.
What you’ll do:
Own end-to-end paid media strategy across Meta, Google, and potential new channels. From planning through launch, optimization, and scale.
Build and drive a continuous testing roadmap across different tactics, audiences, creative, messaging, and landing pages, translating results into actionable insights.
Manage our Search agency, holding them accountable to performance goals and roadmap execution.
Monitor performance daily, optimizing toward CAC and ROI targets while proactively identifying new growth opportunities.
Own weekly KPI reporting, surfacing trends, efficiencies, and scaling opportunities, and sharing learnings across the team.
Diagnose performance fluctuations and pinpoint the channel and business-level factors driving them.
Partner with the creative teams and external agencies to rapidly produce high-performing video, UGC, influencer, and static assets.
Stay current on platform updates, algorithm shifts, and industry trends to keep our paid social strategy ahead of the curve.
Drive new acquisition and full-funnel growth ideas, playing an active role in shaping and running experiments.
What you’ll bring:
4+ years of hands-on experience scaling paid social and paid search at a D2C startup, ideally managing $1M+ monthly budgets.
A track record of driving efficient growth (CAC, ROI, LTV) while scaling spend.
Strong project management skills, with the ability to handle multiple initiatives at the same time.
Comfort with tactical execution and strategic thinking—you can set the plan and run it yourself.
Sharp communicator, able to flag risks and opportunities to internal stakeholders and manage day-to-day agency relationships.
High attention to detail, with a habit of catching and preventing errors before they become problems.
Experience managing external creative agencies, briefing them effectively, and providing sharp, actionable feedback that helps them iterate toward higher-performing ads.
Ruthlessly analytical. You dig into performance data to uncover insights, and know exactly which levers to pull to optimize campaigns at scale.
Able to translate data into a clear narrative, making it actionable for both day-to-day decisions and broader team alignment.

What you'll do
Act as a trusted partner to the co-founders and leadership team
Maintain a bird’s-eye view of key initiatives and organizational health across Stepful; proactively surface risks, tradeoffs, and opportunities to leadership and drive teams to clear decisions
Represent leadership’s thinking accurately and handle confidential information with sound judgment
Set agendas and follow up on action items so leadership time is spent on the highest-priority items
Run the company’s operating system (“Rhythm of Business”)
Translate leadership decisions and priorities into clear, actionable communication for the broader team (e.g., All Hands for both full-time and contractor teams)
Facilitate quarterly and annual planning: Own and continuously improve Stepful’s core operating cadences (Monthly and Quarterly Business Reviews)
Track company-wide KPIs and maintain the systems behind them, partnering with Finance to keep leadership’s source of truth accurate and up to date
Lead executive, board, and investor communications
Draft Board materials and monthly investor updates, assembling the underlying data analysis
Capture and communicate the state of the business clearly and concisely for both internal and external audiences
Drive cross-functional special projects end to end
Own high-impact, cross-functional initiatives from problem definition through execution, working across teams like Learning & Operations, Growth, Product, Sales/Workforce Solutions, and more
Dive into data and processes to find the insight that matters and turn it into action; build the analysis yourself where needed
Support leadership on select external and partner relationships
Set direction for company-wide events that celebrate wins and strengthen culture, partnering with the Employee Experience Manager to bring them to life (e.g., now-annual company-wide Stepfest offsite)
Examples of past special projects: Building strategic partnerships to expand student career opportunities; opening a new revenue-driving growth channel; measuring and communicating Stepful's social impact to investors; and rolling out internal AI tooling to improve productivity.
What you’ll bring
5+ years of experience, including in consulting, business operations, or a similar role at a high-growth startup.
Highly analytical, with a structured approach to breaking down ambiguous problems; comfortable working directly with data
Excellent written and verbal communication: clear, concise, and credible with senior and external audiences
A strong collaborator who leads through influence and coordinates diverse stakeholders across levels and functions
Sound judgment and discretion with confidential and sensitive information
An owner’s mindset: you take initiative, drive work to outcomes, and hold a high bar for execution
You thrive in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment and learn quickly through experimentation
Passionate about Stepful’s mission: Empowering communities with accessible pathways to healthcare careers, regardless of background or circumstance.
