What You Will Do:
Your responsibilities will span from conceptualizing and building innovative products from scratch (0 to 1) to enhancing and optimizing existing solutions as they evolve (1 to n). What You Will Do:
As a Cloud Platform Engineer on the Civil Aviation team, you will build and operate the cloud infrastructure powering mission-critical aviation systems used in real-world operations. This is a deeply hands-on role where you’ll work directly in production environments, ensuring systems are scalable, resilient, and continuously deployable.
You’ll develop and improve the core infrastructure that engineers rely on every day—shipping infrastructure-as-code, working with Kubernetes-based systems, and contributing to deployment pipelines that enable fast, safe releases. You will partner closely with backend, product, and platform engineers to deploy services, improve observability, and respond to real production challenges—debugging issues, strengthening system resilience, and continuously raising the bar for reliability. What You Will Do:
As a Software Engineer for the Civil Aviation team, you will design and build a backend system that will operate at the center of U.S. air travel for the next decade and beyond. This is a platform that needs to be right the first time and maintainable by future engineers who had no hand in building it.
The core technical challenge is data fusion at operational scale: ingesting disparate, noisy, and potentially conflicting data streams, from radar, flight plans, weather systems, operator inputs, and more, and resolving them into a single, authoritative view of the world. From there, the system projects that state forward in time, enabling optimization across a complex set of competing conditions and constraints. The person in this role needs to have strong intuitions about how to model uncertainty, how to reason about data provenance and confidence, and how to build systems that degrade gracefully when inputs are incomplete or wrong.

What You Will Do:
As a Lead Cloud Platform Engineer for the Civil Aviation team, you will own the architecture, reliability, and evolution of a cloud platform supporting mission-critical aviation systems. You’ll lead a small team while remaining deeply hands-on, building and operating infrastructure that must scale globally, maintain ~99.99% availability, and support safe, continuous delivery in a 24/7 environment.
You will define and drive platform architecture, establishing best practices for infrastructure-as-code, Kubernetes-based systems, deployment pipelines, and production operations. You’ll own reliability end-to-end, designing for failure, implementing observability (metrics, logging, tracing), and leading incident response, postmortems, and continuous improvement efforts.
In addition to technical leadership, you will manage and develop a small team of engineers—setting clear direction, establishing high standards, and creating the systems (metrics, processes, feedback loops) that enable teams to operate autonomously while maintaining a strong culture of reliability and ownership.

What You Will Do:
As a Cloud Platform Engineer on the Civil Aviation team, you will build and operate the cloud infrastructure powering mission-critical aviation systems used in real-world operations. This is a deeply hands-on role where you’ll work directly in production environments, ensuring systems are scalable, resilient, and continuously deployable.
You’ll develop and improve the core infrastructure that engineers rely on every day—shipping infrastructure-as-code, working with Kubernetes-based systems, and contributing to deployment pipelines that enable fast, safe releases. Your work will directly impact system reliability, performance, and uptime in a 24/7 environment.
You will partner closely with backend, product, and platform engineers to deploy services, improve observability, and respond to real production challenges—debugging issues, strengthening system resilience, and continuously raising the bar for reliability. Expect to work on problems like scaling distributed systems, improving release safety, and building automation that reduces operational toil and keeps systems running smoothly.
What We Value:
- Strong experience building and operating production-grade cloud infrastructure
- Experience with AWS (preferred) or other cloud providers (GCP, Azure)
- Proficiency with Kubernetes and containerized environments
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., Terraform, Helm)
- Experience designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines for reliable, frequent production releases
- Strong understanding of distributed systems and scalability
- Experience with observability and monitoring tools (e.g., Grafana, Prometheus)
- Familiarity with production safety practices, including testing, rollout strategies, and rollback mechanisms
- Experience operating and supporting 24/7 production systems
- Ability to contribute to design reviews and architectural decisions
- Strong collaboration skills and ability to work across teams in a mission-critical environment
- Exposure to regulated cloud environments (e.g., FedRAMP) and familiarity with progressive deployment techniques (e.g., canary releases) is a plus
- Exposure to high-availability systems (e.g., “four nines” reliability) is a strong plus
- Proficient in leveraging modern LLM tools to accelerate development workflows and enhance code quality
