We are seeking an experienced hands-on Head of IT and InfoSec to lead our IT and information security functions. This is a unique position that combines strategic leadership and tactical day-to-day IT operations. You will be able to define the roadmaps, IT infrastructure implementation solutions and collaborate with our engineering and product management functions to ensure resilient and scalable IT environment and processes in compliance with international standards such as ISO27001 and TISAX.
This role will initially be an individual contributor position, taking ownership of our existing IT environment and Information Security Management System (ISMS). As the company grows, you'll have the opportunity to build, mentor, and lead an IT team, making this an ideal role for someone who enjoys creating structure today while helping shape the future of the department.
This role is located in our Munich office. Authorization to work in Germany is required.
What You’ll Do
IT infrastructure
Own and manage our cloud and on-prem IT systems
MDM, IAM, SSO/MFA
EDR/Antivirus solutions, threat detection and response
Cloud-based email and collaboration
Cloud file storage services, permissions management, access provision
On-prem and cloud network setup and configuration (wired/wireless)
On-prem and cloud server management
VPN solution management (micro-segmentation, policies and rules)
Integrations between various IT systems
Linux and macOS endpoint management
IT services delivery
Manage IT services delivery, ticketing system, IT support requests, act as a point of contact for on-site/remote end-user support in our offices in Germany and remote support in US (California) and APAC region
Execute IT onboarding/offboarding of full-time employees and contractors
Information security and compliance
Own and maintain controls and formal ISMS (information security management system) compliant with ISO27001 and TISAX standards
Act as a main point of contact for information security audits with third parties and auditors
Provide necessary information for customer information security questioneers
Information security incidents management and readiness
Disaster recovery and business continuity
Strategy and collaboration
Define and execute IT and infosec roadmap and strategy
Manage IT suppliers and vendor relations, act as a point of contact with various suppliers, manage renewals, cancellations, pricing negotiations
Collaborate with engineering and DevOps on various projects
Collaborate and oversee AI-related controls and secure AI solutions implementation
Support of business applications for various business functions (sales, HR, legal, etc.)
Document formal IT processes and policies, create new policies and update the existing ones
What you bring
Bachelor’s degree or higher in computer science, engineering, or a related field — or equivalent work experience
Fluent in English and professional German language proficiency (minimum B2 level) are required
At least 7 years of experience in IT with a combination of hands-on, IT support and managing IT function, establishing policies and processes, and implementing IT solutions end-to-end
Ability to coordinate work across different time zones and regions
Experience in administration of various systems such as Google Workspace (Gmail, GDrive, Chat), JumpCloud (or similar MDM/IAM), Microsoft 365 (Azure/Entra, SharePoint/OneDrive/Teams)
Experience in end-user devices management (centralized updates/patching, policies, encryption), deep understanding of Linux and MacOS management
Experience with SSO/MFA implementations
Experience in network management (Aruba, Fortinet, Cisco, Zscaler), solid understanding of network protocols, TCP/IP and OSI models, routing, DHCP, DNS, etc.
Experience in setting up and managing servers on-prem: virtualization, IPMI, RAID array management, specifically Linux servers
Solid understanding of AWS fundamentals (EC2, EBS, RDS, IAM)
Basic scripting skills is Bash, PowerShell, (Python knowledge is a plus)
Backup and restore best practices
Experience with monitoring and logging solutions
Nice to have
IT and/or information security certifications such as CompTIA, ITIL, CCNA, etc.
First-hand experience participating in IT and information security audits
ISO27001 and/or TISAX controls knowledge and experience implementing them in fast-paced environment
Understanding of CI/CD infrastructure, version control
Experience in implementing of AI/LLM solutions
Experience establishing ISMS from scratch and maintaining existing ISMS

What You Bring
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or a related technical field
5+ years of professional software development experience in modern C++
Strong debugging and problem-solving skills across complex software systems
Experience developing software for embedded or distributed systems
Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to work directly with customers and cross-functional teams
Experience using modern development workflows and tools such as Git, GitLab, CI/CD pipelines, and issue tracking systems
Self-driven and comfortable operating independently in dynamic technical environments
Nice To Have
Experience in automotive, robotics, aerospace, industrial automation, or other safety-critical domains
Familiarity with operating systems, networking, and communication protocols (UDP, multicast, TCP/IP, DDS, ROS/ROS 2)
Understanding of real-time systems and automotive software architectures such as AUTOSAR

What You’ll Do
Support customer deployments and integrations using Apex.AI products
Collaborate with customers and internal engineering teams to understand technical requirements
Help troubleshoot software, middleware, networking, and embedded systems issues
Contribute code, bug fixes, and enhancements to Apex.OS
Assist with software testing, validation, and system integration activities
Participate in customer workshops, demos, and technical presentations
Work closely with senior engineers to learn best practices for production-grade software development

What You Bring

Apex.AI is seeking an experienced Senior Application Engineer with 5+ years of relevant experience working directly with product teams and global customers to deploy safety-certified software for SDVs (software-defined vehicles), ADAS / autonomous systems, and smart machine applications. As a Senior Application Engineer at Apex.AI you will collaborate across South Korea, Japan, Europe, and the US and help customers bring production programs to market using Apex.OS (Apex.Grace and Apex.Ida).
Joining Apex.AI means working from South Korea with a global team of experienced and talented engineers on real production programs with companies such as HL Klemove, MOIA, and Brunswick building the safety-certified software foundation behind next-generation ADAS, autonomous mobility, and software-defined vehicles.
You will develop, deploy, and support Apex.OS while partnering closely with customer engineering teams and our internal development team to create a high-quality product. This role includes direct customer interaction. You will participate and drive technical workshops, integration support, issue debugging, and occasional on-site collaboration to help customers deploy Apex.OS-based solutions. In addition, you will have opportunities to contribute features to our core products and gain deep technical knowledge of Apex.OS. This role is a hybrid role, located in our South Korean office in Pangyo, with an expectation of regular days in the office. Authorization to work in South Korea is required.
What you'll do
Apply your problem-solving and C++ development skills to develop functions, applications, and solutions for software-defined vehicles, ADAS / autonomous systems, and smart machine applications
Be comfortable working in high-pressure OEM and Tier 1 customer programs
Work directly with automotive OEMs, Tier 1s, and partners to integrate and deploy Apex.OS-based solutions
Provide hands-on technical support through customer meetings, technical workshops, debugging, and occasional on-site integration work
Roll out Apex.AI software to customers and support them through integration, validation, and deployment milestones
What you have
B.S. or higher degree in a technical field, or equivalent experience
5+ years of C++ software development experience
Business-level Korean and professional English, with the ability to communicate effectively with customer engineering teams
Strong presentation and communication skills
Excellent troubleshooting skills
Experience with Git, GitLab or similar tools
Software and embedded system experience is a must
Self-motivated, comfortable operating without direct supervision
Experience supporting integration, deployment, or debugging in customer-facing or cross-functional engineering environments
Great to have
Experience in relevant domains, such as automotive, ADAS, autonomous systems, robotics, aerospace, or industrial systems
