This is a full time role that can be held from one of our US hubs or remotely in the United States.
What you'll do at Figma:
Lead strategic security programs from planning through execution, coordinating priorities, dependencies, risks, and accountability across security and business teams
Partner with teams across Figma to identify and address security risks, align stakeholders, and translate security priorities into practical guidance and action plans
Define and track security program metrics, OKRs, risk registers, and reporting that give leadership visibility into program health, priorities, and risk posture
Identify and coordinate the remediation of security gaps by partnering with control owners, security specialists, and business stakeholders to drive issues to resolution
Design and implement scalable security practices, including policies, processes, operating models, and change management plans that support long-term adoption
Drive security awareness and engagement through company-wide training, communications, and educational initiatives in partnership with teams across Figma
Support security leadership with strategic planning and portfolio management, including preparing leadership briefings, coordinating decisions, and driving follow-through on key commitments
We'd love to hear from you if you have:
5+ years of experience in security program management, security business partnership, or a related strategic role within information security
Demonstrated experience leading complex, cross-functional security programs from planning through execution, including developing program metrics, OKRs, risk registers, or dashboards that provide leadership visibility into performance and risk
Working knowledge of information security frameworks and practices, such as NIST CSF, SOC 2, ISO 27001, or equivalent frameworks
Demonstrated ability to communicate security risks, priorities, and tradeoffs to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, including senior leaders
Experience developing or delivering security initiatives that drive organizational adoption, such as security awareness, training, risk remediation, or change management initiatives
While it's not required, it's an added plus if you also have:
Experience supporting security or technical leadership in a chief of staff, business operations, or portfolio management capacity
Knowledge of enterprise or quantitative risk management practices, including methodologies such as FAIR
Experience with security and compliance requirements in a public company environment, including SOX ITGC, or with global regulatory frameworks such as GDPR or NIS2
Experience using AI, automation, or security tooling to improve reporting, information gathering, workflows, or decision-making
Security certifications such as CISA, CISSP, CISM, CRISC, or equivalent

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.

Figma is growing our team of passionate creatives and builders on a mission to make design accessible to all. Figma’s platform helps teams bring ideas to life—whether you're brainstorming, creating a prototype, translating designs into code, or iterating with AI. From idea to product, Figma empowers teams to streamline workflows, move faster, and work together in real time from anywhere in the world. If you're excited to shape the future of design and collaboration, join us!
Application Platform is part of Product Platform within Figma’s Infrastructure organization. We build shared foundations that help engineers ship backend product work quickly, safely, and reliably. The team owns a large Ruby application that powers Figma’s REST APIs, asynchronous jobs, and workflow orchestration. Our systems sit on critical production paths and shape the day-to-day experience of backend engineers across Figma.
We’re looking for an experienced backend engineer with meaningful production Ruby experience who enjoys building for other engineers. You don’t need to be a Ruby language specialist. You should be comfortable making informed tradeoffs in a substantial shared codebase and turning recurring problems into durable systems, tools, and paved paths that improve engineering velocity across the company.
This is a full time role that can be held from one of our US hubs or remotely in the United States.
What you’ll do at Figma:
Design and evolve shared Ruby frameworks for REST APIs, asynchronous jobs, workflow orchestration, and data access
Improve the availability, reliability, scalability, and performance of backend systems that support critical product functionality
Modernize a large Ruby codebase through safe architectural changes, including moving REST APIs from Sinatra toward Rails and introducing stronger endpoint abstractions and type safety
Make backend development faster by improving hot reloading, local workflows, test infrastructure, CI reliability, debugging tools, and iteration speed
Strengthen the scalability, isolation, observability, and recovery capabilities of Figma’s asynchronous job platform
Partner with product engineers—your customers—and Infrastructure teams to identify recurring pain points and turn them into reusable platform capabilities
Establish pragmatic engineering practices through shared libraries, APIs, documentation, tooling, code review, and technical guidance
Mentor other engineers and contribute to a culture of thoughtful execution, high technical standards, and shared ownership
We'd love to hear from you if you have:
Bring 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, including 3+ years building production systems with Ruby
Build, maintain, and evolve large Ruby applications and shared backend codebases that support multiple engineering teams
Design reliable distributed systems at production scale, including APIs, background processing, testing, observability, and operations
Improve complex, established systems through architecture, modularization, migrations, performance, reliability, or developer tooling
Create scalable abstractions, navigate technical tradeoffs, and collaborate with and mentor engineers across teams
While not required, it’s an added plus if you also have:
Experience with background-job or workflow systems, including retries, idempotency, scheduling, backpressure, isolation, and failure recovery
Experience with AWS services such as SQS and EKS, workflow systems such as Temporal, or infrastructure tools such as Kubernetes and Terraform
Experience improving test performance, local development environments, CI systems, or large-scale code migrations
At Figma, one of our values is Grow as you go. We believe in hiring smart, curious people who are excited to learn and develop their skills. If you’re excited about this role but your past experience doesn’t align perfectly with the points outlined in the job description, we encourage you to apply anyways. Software Engineer - Application Platform

You may be just the right candidate for this or other roles.
Pay Transparency Disclosure
Job level and actual compensation will be decided based on factors including, but not limited to, individual qualifications objectively assessed during the interview process (including skills and prior relevant experience, potential impact, and scope of role), market demands, and specific work location.
Figma offers equity to employees, as well as a competitive package of additional benefits, including health, dental, and vision coverage; retirement benefits with company contributions; parental leave and reproductive or family planning support; mental health and wellness benefits; and paid time off. Figma provides paid sick leave, holidays, and other leave benefits in compliance with applicable federal, state, and local laws, including the requirements of the Washington Minimum Wage Act and related regulations. Exempt employees are eligible for employer‑provided paid flexible PTO in addition to flexible paid sick leave. PTO is subject to manager approval. Additional benefits may include company recharge days, cell phone and home internet reimbursements, and a number of lifestyle spending accounts. Figma also offers sales incentive compensation for most sales roles and an annual bonus plan for eligible non-sales roles. All compensation and benefits are subject to applicable plan terms and may be modified by Figma at any time, consistent with applicable law.
Annual Base Salary Range:
$153,000 - $376,000 USD
At Figma we celebrate and support our differences. We know employing a team rich in diverse thoughts, experiences, and opinions allows our employees, our product and our community to flourish. Figma is an equal opportunity workplace - we are dedicated to equal employment opportunities regardless of race, color, ancestry, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, age, citizenship, marital status, disability, gender identity/expression, veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law. We also consider qualified applicants regardless of criminal histories, consistent with legal requirements.
We will work to ensure individuals with disabilities are provided reasonable accommodation to apply for a role, participate in the interview process, perform essential job functions, and receive other benefits and privileges of employment. If you require accommodation, please reach out to accommodations-ext@figma.com. These modifications enable an individual with a disability to have an equal opportunity not only to get a job, but successfully perform their job tasks to the same extent as people without disabilities.
Examples of accommodations include but are not limited to:
Holding interviews in an accessible location
Enabling closed captioning on video conferencing
Ensuring all written communication be compatible with screen readers
Changing the mode or format of interviews
To ensure the integrity of our hiring process and facilitate a more personal connection, we require all candidates keep their cameras on during video interviews. Additionally, if hired you will be required to attend in person onboarding.
By applying for this job, the candidate acknowledges and agrees that any personal data contained in their application or supporting materials will be processed in accordance with Figma's Candidate Privacy Notice.

Careers at Figma
Figma is a design platform for teams who build products together. Our vision is to make design accessible to all because we know that nothing great is made alone.

Our Values and Culture
Our values and culture are the underpinning for all that we do at Figma—we believe that a great product is inextricably linked to a great internal community.
Build community
We’re multiplayer people who love the weird, wonderful magic that happens when people connect. We build bridges—with both our Figmates and our users.
Run with it
Building Figma is about taking initiative, being bold and charting a new course, not running a playbook. Figmates are building the future of design by tackling big, scary, exciting challenges like Figma’s future depends on it. Because it does.
Love your craft
We build for builders and try to make complex things feel simple. We ask why until we get to the core and continually focus on solving the right problem, not just shipping work.
Grow as you go
With humility and curiosity, we give and get the direct feedback we all need to become great. Everyone’s a work in progress, and we’re here to help each other grow.
Play
Playing is learning. We embrace spontaneous, unstructured exploration—because that’s where we find our best ideas.
Life at Figma
Connection and kindness are core to our culture (after all, we’re a group of people building a collaboration tool). We focus on lifting each other up instead of competing amongst ourselves, and we build relationships through numerous company traditions.
Figmate Community Groups
Our Figmate Communities are an essential part of our value of "Build Community." These groups are comprised of Figmates interested in developing community, social awareness, and education regarding groups with shared characteristics or life experiences, and are open to all Figmates regardless of whether or not they are part of that group or share those characteristics or life experiences themselves.
Maker Week
A time set aside once a year to pursue wild, silly, and imaginative ideas. The whole company takes part, and people can work on anything Figma-related that piques their curiosity.

Figma is a data-driven organization, and Data Platform builds the foundation that makes that possible. The platform powers everything from core business metrics and product analytics to the applied AI and experimentation systems that teams across the company rely on to build and make decisions. In this role, you'll lead engineers across Data Platform through their next phase of scale, setting technical direction, growing the team, and partnering broadly across the company.
This is a full time role that can be held from one of our US hubs or remotely in the United States.
What you’ll do at Figma:
Lead and grow a team of engineers building and operating Figma's data platform, owning delivery, technical direction, and team health
Set the roadmap and technical strategy for your sub area, and provide hands on technical leadership where the team needs it
Drive the reliability, scalability, and forward strategy of the platform as adoption grows across the engineering and product organization
Hire, grow, and coach engineers and tech leads, raising the bar and building a healthy, inclusive, high-performing team
Partner with Data Science, Product, Finance, and Engineering to identify the highest-leverage priorities and drive alignment
Make sound build versus buy decisions, including evaluating and managing platform vendors where it makes sense
Keep delivery predictable while balancing near-term execution with long-term platform investment
We'd love to hear from you if you have:
3+ years managing engineers, including senior ICs or tech leads, with a track record of building and scaling high-performing teams
Demonstrated experience building and scaling data platform or data infrastructure systems in a production, online environment
A strong software engineering background with senior or staff-level technical depth before moving into management, and enough current depth to set direct technical direction
Strong partnership mentality and the ability to manage multiple cross-functional stakeholder groups such as Data Science, Product, Finance, and Engineering
Ability to set technical direction, drive alignment, and prioritize clearly under ambiguity, paired with strong written communication
While it's not required, it's an added plus if you also have:
Expertise in large-scale data processing systems, including batch, streaming, or applied AI and ML workloads
Familiarity with experimentation or feature flagging platforms
A track record of evaluating and managing vendor relationships
A demonstrated ability to develop tech leads and scale hiring at pace
At Figma, one of our values is Grow as you go. We believe in hiring smart, curious people who are excited to learn and develop their skills. If you’re excited about this role but your past experience doesn’t align perfectly with the points outlined in the job description, we encourage you to apply anyways. Why are you being asked to complete this form?
We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

If you believe you belong to any of the categories of protected veterans listed below, please indicate by making the appropriate selection. As a government contractor subject to the Vietnam Era Veterans Readjustment Assistance Act (VEVRAA), we request this information in order to measure the effectiveness of the outreach and positive recruitment efforts we undertake pursuant to VEVRAA. Classification of protected categories is as follows:
A "disabled veteran" is one of the following: a veteran of the U.S. military, ground, naval or air service who is entitled to compensation (or who but for the receipt of military retired pay would be entitled to compensation) under laws administered by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs; or a person who was discharged or released from active duty because of a service-connected disability.
A "recently separated veteran" means any veteran during the three-year period beginning on the date of such veteran's discharge or release from active duty in the U.S. military, ground, naval, or air service.
An "active duty wartime or campaign badge veteran" means a veteran who served on active duty in the U.S. military, ground, naval or air service during a war, or in a campaign or expedition for which a campaign badge has been authorized under the laws administered by the Department of Defense.
An "Armed forces service medal veteran" means a veteran who, while serving on active duty in the U.S. military, ground, naval or air service, participated in a United States military operation for which an Armed Forces service medal was awarded pursuant to Executive Order 12985.

OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 07/31/2029
Why are you being asked to complete this form?
We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.
