What You Will Be Doing:
As a Principal Manufacturing Engineer at Helion, you will define and drive the architecture of our manufacturing systems as we scale from prototype builds to high-volume production. You will own manufacturing system strategy, lead the development of custom equipment and production systems, and serve as a technical authority across Manufacturing, Design, and Production. This role operates in a highly ambiguous, first-of-a-kind environment and requires balancing near-term execution with long-term scalability across future production lines.
This is an onsite role that reports directly to Factory Development Manager at our Everett, WA, office.
You Will:
Define manufacturing system architecture and long-term scalability strategy across production lines and future factory builds
Own and drive large-scale, cross-functional initiatives that shape how Helion designs, builds, and scales manufacturing systems
Lead the development and commissioning of custom, precision manufacturing equipment and integrated production systems
Identify and prioritize high-impact investments across equipment, automation, and factory capabilities to enable step-change improvements in scale
Solve complex, ambiguous manufacturing challenges, making high-leverage technical decisions with company-wide impact
Serve as a technical leader and mentor, influencing engineering direction and elevating execution across teams
Required Skills:
12+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering, automation, or production systems, ideally in complex electromechanical environments
Demonstrated ownership of manufacturing systems or production lines from concept through production ramp at scale
Experience defining systems, processes, or architecture in ambiguous, first-of-a-kind environments
Proven track record of leading large, cross-functional engineering initiatives with broad organizational impact
Strong cross-functional leadership across Design Engineering, Production, Supply Chain, and Facilities
Track record of influencing technical direction and mentoring engineers

What You Will Be Doing:
You will own hardware designs for systems related to vacuum systems on Helion's fusion generators. Own design of novel high-vacuum system for pulsed fusion generator and prototype

Perform analysis with in-house and out-of-house tools and hold design reviews to gather feedback and iterate to a fully functioning system
Work hands-on alongside experienced technicians to implement your hardware designs
Work cross-functionally to negotiate interfaces with other fusion generator subsystems

Required Skills:

What You Will Be Doing:
The capacitor bank is the beating heart of a Helion machine: it stores the energy for every fusion pulse, delivers it in under a millisecond, and takes it back. You will own the organization that architects, designs, qualifies, and produces hardware for Orion, our first fusion power plant.
You Will:
Own the architecture of Orion's capacitor bank and its interdependencies with the machine core: requirements, decomposition, and the interfaces that let the bank, core, and controls behave as one machine
Lead and mentor a cross-functional team of electrical and mechanical engineers designing and qualifying pulsed power circuit modules for each section of the machine with ownership spanning pulsed power electrical design, mechanical and thermal solutions, and the high precision low voltage control interfaces that command them
Drive manufacturable design: partner day-to-day with manufacturing engineering to move modules from prototype test to production at rate, against a capacitor line building megajoules of pulsed power energy capacity per week
Own cost, schedule, and reliability for the module portfolio: make the architecture and design trades, set the qualification bar for hardware that must survive million-pulse campaigns and be accountable for hitting the objectives on a schedule you influenced
Work day-to-day with Research, Science, and Controls to keep module designs ahead of what the physics and operations teams learn from running machines
Build the team: hire, develop, and set the design-review and engineering standards that let the organization move from prototype to production without losing rigor
In your first year, you will baseline the Orion bank architecture, stand up the qualification program for the first production modules, and have production-intent hardware under test.
Required Skills
Bachelor's or master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or a related field
10+ years developing complex electromechanical hardware, including 4+ years leading multidisciplinary engineering teams (Electrical, Mechanical, Firmware, Thermal)
A track record of taking hardware from prototype through qualification into production, and of the design-for-manufacture judgment that makes that transition fast
Technical depth in at least one of: power electronics or pulsed energy systems, high-reliability electromechanical design, or high-volume hardware production with fluency across the others
Demonstrated ownership of cost, schedule, and reliability at program scale, including making and defending hard trades
Cross-functional leadership strength: this role succeeds through tactical and strategic partnership with research, science, controls, and manufacturing
Experience scaling engineering teams and processes through a prototype-to-production transition

What You Will Be Doing:
You will help operate and advance the most powerful, pulsed-fusion device ever constructed to generate electrical power. As a member of the Research and Development team, you will play a critical role in the safe, reliable, and repeatable operation of high-energy fusion systems. You will contribute to the execution of fusion experiments, system readiness, and continuous improvement of machine performance.
You Will:
Operate and support the day-to-day execution of Field-Reversed Configuration (FRC) fusion experiments, ensuring safe and repeatable machine performance
Control and monitor pulsed power systems, including mega-joule capacitor banks and high-energy infrastructure, with a focus on operational reliability and readiness
Own system readiness for experiments, including pre-shot setup, system checks, troubleshooting, and analysis
Identify, diagnose, and resolve issues in high-energy and large-scale vacuum systems to minimize downtime and improve operational efficiency
Apply plasma physics concepts to support experiment execution and interpret diagnostics for magnetic fields, fusion products, and plasma characteristics
Drive continuous improvement of machine operations, including refining procedures, improving system robustness, and reducing variability in experimental results
Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, science, and production teams to improve system performance and operational throughput
Required Skills:
B.S. with 4+ years of relevant experience, or M.S. with 2+ years of relevant experience in Aerospace, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or a related field
Extensive hands-on experience operating, maintaining, or improving high-vacuum chamber systems or high-voltage capacitor systems
Experience owning system uptime, reliability, and performance, including troubleshooting and root cause analysis
Proven experience executing complex experiments or operations with a focus on repeatability, safety, and continuous improvement
Demonstrated ability to rapidly learn new technologies and take ownership of operational systems
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to respond effectively to real-time issues with minimal supervision

What You Will Be Doing:
Build and lead Helion's quality function from the ground up, creating the people, systems, standards, and operating rhythms needed to deliver first-of-a-kind fusion hardware with repeatable, measurable, and scalable quality.
This isn't a role focused on maintaining an existing quality system. It's an opportunity for a hands-on leader to design and build one. You Will:
Build and lead Helion’s quality organization across Quality Engineering, Supplier Quality, Inspection, and Quality Systems
Hire, develop, and mentor a high-performing technical team that promotes ownership, continuous learning, and operational excellence
Design and scale practical quality systems, processes, standards, inspection strategies, traceability, and metrics that support speed and rigor

What You Will Be Doing:
We are hiring a Senior Supplier Development Engineer to work with suppliers to make parts for fusion generators. You will solve technical problems, develop our supplier's quality systems, and accelerate Helion's transition from rapid prototyping to mass generator manufacturing, thus delivering on Helion's mission of providing clean electricity to the planet. This is an onsite role located at our Everett, WA office.
You Will:
Collaborate with design engineers to gain an in-depth knowledge of part, assembly, and sub-system design intent
Assess suppliers' manufacturing processes and quality systems to source parts, in partnership with procurement team
Support product ramp from new product introduction through to high-volume manufacturing
Define supplier technical and quality specifications based on engineering and program requirements
Implement and monitor the production part approval process (PPAP) with selected suppliers to promote rate production
Ensure suppliers understand requirements for document submissions (e.g., first article inspection reports, quality documentation)
Develop and approve process controls for important characteristics
Recommend technical product improvements to reduce risk and potential defect opportunities
Analyze supplier quality and delivery metrics to identify trends and systemic performance gaps to improve plans
Coordinate between suppliers, engineers, buyers, and production to resolve supplier quality issues
Guide supplier corrective actions associated with escapes or containments identified in production or the supply chain
Improve the supply chain
Help build the supplier quality program and team at Helion
Help develop receiving inspection and quality standards
Required Skills:
8+ years of engineering, manufacturing, or supply chain experience—including school projects, clubs, or internships—in mechanical or electrical systems

What You Will Be Doing:
You will be responsible for developing the data and knowledge foundation that enables engineers to understand, operate, and improve Helion’s fusion systems. In this role, you will partner closely with engineers, scientists, and operators to transform complex experimental and operational data (including machine telemetry, experimental results, and engineering workflows) into structured datasets, knowledge systems, and AI-enabled tools that support analysis and decision-making. You will combine data science, knowledge modeling, and applied AI techniques to make fragmented, rapidly evolving information accessible and actionable at scale. This is an onsite role that reports directly to our R&D Manager at our Everett, WA office.
You Will:
Analyze experimental and operational data to identify trends, characterize system performance, and generate actionable insights
Develop data schemas, ontologies, and metadata frameworks to organize and standardize complex technical information
Design and maintain data pipelines that transform and integrate diverse data sources into analytics-ready datasets
Build and evaluate AI-powered workflows, including retrieval, summarization, and anomaly analysis systems using operational data
Prototype decision-support tools for anomaly detection, experiment comparison, and operational reporting
Define metrics and evaluation frameworks to ensure effectiveness, reliability, and business impact of statistical models and AI solutions
Required Skills:
7+ years of experience in data science, statistics, machine learning, or a related quantitative field, especially within a hardware, physics, or engineering environment
Experience working with complex operational, experimental, and time-series data to generate insights, detect anomalies, and inform engineering decisions
Proficiency in Python and modern data science tooling, with experience building data pipelines, analytics infrastructure, or production data systems
Experience developing structured representations of information, including data models, schemas, metadata frameworks, or ontologies
Familiarity with LLM APIs and applied AI techniques such as RAG, embeddings, semantic search, and AI-powered workflow automation
Ability to translate ambiguous problems into practical, scalable solutions and partner effectively with engineers and scientists

What You Will Be Doing:
You will own and improve automated manufacturing test systems for high-voltage electrical assemblies used in energy-storage components for Helion’s fusion generators. This role sits within Manufacturing Engineering and supports the transition from prototype builds to volume manufacturing by developing production test processes, integrating instrumentation, improving test software, troubleshooting equipment issues, and ensuring test stations are safe, repeatable, maintainable, and scalable. You will work closely with Design Engineering, Operations, Maintenance, and external vendors to improve test coverage, throughput, equipment readiness, and manufacturing traceability. This is an onsite role that reports directly to the Manager of Manufacturing Engineering at our Everett, WA office.
You Will:
Own and improve automated manufacturing test systems from prototype implementation through production release, ramp, and sustainment.
Develop production test processes for capacitor manufacturing, including in-line testing, end-of-line testing, accelerated qualification testing, and safe commissioning practices.
Translate product requirements, failure modes, and pulsed-power circuit requirements into repeatable test methods, limits, diagnostics, and acceptance criteria.
Develop and maintain test software, data collection systems, visualization tools, automated reporting, and analysis tools used to monitor test station performance, yield, throughput, process health, and KPIs.
Integrate programmable instrumentation, sensors, controls, and test equipment into safe, reliable, and maintainable automated test systems.
Design and improve automated test processes with appropriate controls for high-voltage and stored-energy hazards, including interlocks, fault handling, procedural controls, and equipment documentation.
Work cross-functionally with Design Engineering, Operations Engineering, Maintenance, technicians, and vendors to improve design for test, automation, manufacturability, maintainability, MES integration, traceability, and production ramp readiness.
Troubleshoot automated test equipment, establish root cause, and implement corrective actions that improve uptime, reliability, and recurrence prevention.
Required Skills:
5+ years of experience developing, deploying, or sustaining automated manufacturing test systems, production equipment, or semi-/fully automated manufacturing processes in a hardware manufacturing environment.
Strong manufacturing engineering fundamentals, including process development, production ramp, equipment readiness, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement.
Proficiency developing test automation software in Python or a comparable language for production equipment, instrumentation, data acquisition, or automated test execution.
Experience integrating programmable instrumentation or test equipment using SCPI, GPIB, Ethernet/LAN, serial communication, DAQ hardware, or similar interfaces.
Ability to translate product requirements, failure modes, and engineering assumptions into repeatable production test methods, limits, diagnostics, and acceptance criteria.
Experience working cross-functionally with Design Engineering, Operations, Production, Maintenance, technicians, supply chain, and external equipment vendors.
Experience using SQL or similar database tools for manufacturing data collection, analysis, traceability, reporting, or critical data management.
Working knowledge of high-voltage electrical circuits, stored-energy hazards, and safe test system design principles.
