WHO WE ARE
Maybern is transforming the way private fund managers effectively manage their funds through cutting edge technology: an operating system with deterministic guard rails underneath, agents on top. Maybern is founded by top engineering experts with deep knowledge of the fund management space.
Private funds manage $15T in capital and are growing at 20% YoY, but with increasing regulatory scrutiny and investor demands for transparency, the need for more modern, fully agentic solutions to help private fund CFOs is crucial.
This is where Maybern comes in.
We are equipping fund managers with a fully agentic operating system for private fund management, enabling private investment managers to focus on what they do best: driving returns for their investors. We are backed by leading venture capital firms and a large number of strategic investors.
Maybern is an NYC based company with a strong in-office culture to drive collaboration, and we are looking to make strong additions to our team.
What We're Looking For
Maybern is building the operating system for agentic fund management, and Forward Deployed Engineering is where that meets the real world. Our FDE team partners directly with some of the largest private funds on the planet to build high-value systems that extend the Maybern platform: production AI, decision support, forecasting, optimization, scenario analysis, formalized workflow logic, and high-assurance automation. This is not a lab. Engagements are signed and running today, and the systems you build will go into production at firms managing tens of billions of dollars.
We are looking for engineers who can own real customer problems and grow fast doing it. You should be comfortable operating where customer ambiguity, quantitative modeling, AI reliability, workflow design, and product abstraction all meet. The career ladder is defined (FDE to Senior FDE to Principal), promotion follows performance rather than tenure, and compensation is built for outperformance: competitive base, equity, and a tiered performance bonus where top performers can earn up to 35%.
What You'll Do
- Own forward-deployed engagements from discovery through production adoption, with your scope growing as fast as your independence earns it
- Architect and build custom systems across AI, forecasting, optimization, simulation, and decision-support workflows
- Design application patterns that connect Maybern's platform to customer-specific logic, data, and operating processes
- Build the evaluation, control, and validation frameworks that make AI trustworthy when a client's business depends on the output
- Work directly with senior stakeholders at sophisticated private markets firms as a trusted technical advisor
- Turn messy, real-world data into production systems: extraction, agentic workflows, automation, and the QA and nuance that separate working systems from demos
- Identify when bespoke work should become reusable product capability or shared platform infrastructure
- Help define standards, technical direction, and operating practices for a function you're joining at the ground floor
Who You Are
- Architect. You design application patterns that connect platform, customer logic, and data, picking the right level of rigor for the stakes.
- Customer Partner. You serve as a trusted advisor to senior customer stakeholders and translate rigor without losing precision.
- Production-AI Builder. You think past the happy path. You care how a system behaves when the data is messy, how errors get caught, and how AI holds up when someone else's business runs on it.
- Driven by Outcomes. You are competitive, high-ownership, and motivated by impact and upside. You think in terms of the ROI of your work, not just the deliverable.
- High-Standards Builder. You hold a high bar for clarity and reliability in domains where approximation isn't enough.
This Could Be a Great Fit If You Have…
- 3+ years of experience in software engineering, machine learning, quantitative systems, applied research, or forward-deployed technical work with significant ownership
- A record of leading ambiguous, customer-facing technical initiatives, or clear evidence you're ready to
- Deep strength in Python, SQL, system design, and analytical application architecture
- Applied AI experience with real attention to evaluation, reliability, and production deployment, meaning AI systems other people depend on, not one-off prototypes
- Deep quantitative reasoning across modeling, inference, optimization, simulation, statistics, or decision systems
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management
- Strong taste in balancing speed, rigor, and trust in high-stakes environments
Bonus Points if You Have…
- Familiarity with the Snowflake AI Data Platform as a strong starting point for architecting data, analytics, and AI workflows, though this is not required
- Experience designing custom applications in finance, capital markets, enterprise decision systems, or similarly complex domains
- Experience with optimization, probabilistic systems, simulation engines, or mathematical modeling platforms
- Experience with formal verification, theorem proving, formal methods, or machine-checkable logic
- Experience turning bespoke customer systems into reusable product or platform primitives
- Experience mentoring engineers and raising the bar on technical execution
- Private markets experience
BENEFITS
- We offer a competitive salary + equity package, comprehensive benefits, and a flexible family-friendly work environment. Some of our perks include:
- Comprehensive healthcare benefits
- Maybern covers 100% of medical, dental, and vision premiums
- HSA & FSA plans
- Family-Friendly policies
- Paid parental leave
- Flexible schedule
- Flexible PTO / sick leave
- WFH as needed to fit your needs
- 401k

What We're Looking For
Maybern is building the operating system for agentic fund management, and Forward Deployed Engineering is where that meets the real world. Our FDE team partners directly with some of the largest private funds on the planet to build sophisticated applications that extend the Maybern platform: production AI, decision support, forecasting, optimization, scenario analysis, formalized workflow logic, and high-assurance automation.
This is not a someday roadmap. We have signed engagements running today and more closing behind them. The Principal FDE will be our most senior client-facing technical leader, sitting at the intersection of technical solutioning, customer leadership, and delivery management. You will sit across the table from CFOs and managing partners who are racing to automate their firms with AI, translate ambiguous, high-stakes problems into structured proposals, lead engagements end-to-end, and set the technical bar for a practice you'll help build and hire. Compensation is designed for outperformance: competitive base, meaningful equity, and a tiered performance bonus where top performers can earn up to 35%.
What You'll Do
- Lead early-stage discovery with the most senior people in private markets, translating ambiguous and sometimes contradictory needs into structured proposals, and scoping engagements across AI, forecasting, automation, decision support, and platform integration
- Own senior client relationships end-to-end, from initial discovery through production adoption, managing scope, timeline, and expectations along the way
- Architect production-grade AI systems that clients run their business on, not demos: agentic workflows, extraction and automation over messy real-world data, evals, optimization, simulation, and decision support, in collaboration with the engineering team
- Support the sales motion by lending technical credibility to pre-sales conversations and helping shape and close new engagements
- Build the practice: establish a repeatable solutioning and scoping playbook, mentor engineers across the team, help hire the bench beneath you, and identify when bespoke customer work should become reusable product capability
Who You Are
- Executive Presence: You are comfortable in the room with senior, non-technical clients. You listen well, ask sharp questions, earn trust quickly, and push back when needed without losing the relationship.
- Solution Architect & Proposal Writer: You can take a vague client problem, structure it into a credible technical plan, and author a written proposal from scratch: framing the problem, the approach, the deliverables, and the value.
- Delivery Leader: You have led end-to-end engagements with meaningful complexity, owning scope, timeline, and outcomes across both technical and client-facing work streams.
- Builder of Real AI: You think past the happy path. You care about how a system behaves when the data is messy, how errors get caught, and how AI holds up when someone else's business depends on it.
- Driven by Outcomes: You are competitive, high-ownership, and motivated by impact and upside. You think in terms of the ROI of your work, not just the deliverable.
- This role is based in New York, with roughly 25% travel for client engagements
This Could Be a Great Fit If You Have…
- 10+ years of customer-facing technical experience in consulting, enterprise software, or forward-deployed engineering, with a strong track record leading ambiguous client initiatives from discovery through delivery
- Deep strength in Python, SQL, system design, and analytical application architecture, with hands-on experience taking AI systems to production, including agentic workflows and evaluation frameworks
- Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, including the ability to write proposals, scope complex engagements, and manage difficult client situations
Bonus Points if You Have…
- Hands-on experience with the Snowflake AI Data Platform as a starting point for architecting data, analytics, and AI workflows
- Experience in finance, private markets, capital markets, fund administration, or enterprise decision systems
- Experience with optimization, probabilistic systems, simulation engines, or mathematical modeling platforms
- Experience turning bespoke client systems into reusable product or platform primitives
- Experience building or growing a small forward-deployed or professional services team
BENEFITS
- We offer a competitive salary + equity package, comprehensive benefits, and a flexible family-friendly work environment. Some of our perks include:

WHO WE ARE
Maybern is transforming the way private fund managers effectively manage their funds through cutting edge technology: an operating system with deterministic guard rails underneath, agents on top.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Maybern is scaling to over 100 employees and is hiring our first dedicated IT and Security operator. We're looking for someone with a strong sense of ownership and agency who wants to build and shape this function, not just operate within one. The ideal candidate is as comfortable helping a teammate with Google Meet/Zoom connectivity as they are owning the SOC 2 evidence collection process and responding to security questionnaires.
This role is at the intersection of IT operations and security compliance. You will own and operate end-to-end, with a hands-on approach, and be a champion to our engineering team for critical security and privacy matters. As our first full time IT hire, you'll have real input on the tools, processes, and standards we put in place as we scale.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
IT Operations & Employee Support
- Be the reliable face of IT for every Maybern employee. When something isn't working, you are the first call and will follow through to resolution.
- Own endpoint management end-to-end: MDM administration (Kandji or equivalent), device provisioning, inventory, and the complete asset inventory lifecycle.
- Own and maintain our conference room and setup: Google Meet/Zoom Rooms should just work, and when they don't, you fix it fast.
- Administer identity providers (Okta or equivalent) and enforce access policies across our fleet.
- Ensure every new hire is set up correctly from their first day across devices, access entitlements, and tools. You will also ensure every departure is accurately offboarded in partnership with People Ops.
- Set our IT foundations up for success as we scale the business.
Security & Compliance
- Own continuous SOC 2 evidence collection and control respective monitoring.
- Conduct and document quarterly access reviews; coordinate audit prep and serve as the primary liaison with external auditors.
- Administer endpoint security tooling (CrowdStrike or equivalent); monitor for anomalies, escalate and triage incidents with engineering when warranted.
- Coordinate annual security training completion, track attestations, and flag gaps.
Customer-Facing Security
- Maintain and continuously improve a security response library to reduce cycle time on questionnaires.
- Independently respond to vendor security questionnaires (VSQs) and own the security sections of due diligence questionnaires (DDQs).
SaaS & Vendor Management
- Conduct quarterly access audits across our SaaS stack; manage license governance and monitor for "shadow IT".
- Own the vendor security review process for software and hardware procurement.
- Identify opportunities to rationalize the stack and reduce tooling sprawl.
WHO YOU ARE
- Systems-Minded: You have strong instincts for how internal systems should be set up, and a knack for spotting inefficiencies or risks.
- Service-Oriented: You are calm under pressure, approachable, and love solving problems for teammates. You bring energy and empathy to every support interaction.
- Reliable & Thorough: You follow through, track issues to resolution, and are meticulous about documentation. You take pride in getting the details right.
- High Agency: You don't wait to be told what to prioritize. You spot the next thing that needs to happen and you go do it. You bring solutions, not just problems.
Enthusiasm and High Standards: You exhibit passion and excitement for your work and expect nothing short of the best from yourself and your team.
- Collaborative: You communicate clearly, build cross-functional trust, and enjoy working closely with People, Ops, and other stakeholders.
THIS COULD BE A GREAT FIT IF YOU HAVE…
- 6+ years of IT and/or security operations experience, ideally at a scaling SaaS or fintech products: you have a reputation as the person keeping things running while headcount doubles.
- Hands-on experience with SOC 2 Type II: you have collected evidence, managed a control framework, and coordinated with auditors before (or can demonstrate equivalent compliance program ownership).
- Working knowledge of MDM tools (Kandji or equivalent), identity providers (Okta or equivalent), and continuous compliance platforms (Secureframe or equivalent).
- Extensive experience in a primarily Mac environment (although we have a few PC users too).
- Comfortable with coordinating compliance requirements and your engineering team: you don't need to be a security engineer, but you need to speak the language.
- Self-directed, organized, and calm under pressure: whether you're debugging a Zoom Room 10 minutes before an all-hands or coordinating a SOC 2 audit, you don't need someone to manage priorities for you.
BONUS POINT IF YOU HAVE…
- Been the first or one of the first internal IT hires at an earlier stage or smaller company.
- Experience responding to vendor security questionnaires and customer trust reviews independently.
- Direct experience with Crowdstrike, Cloudflare, or DLP tooling.
BENEFITS
- We offer a competitive salary + equity package, comprehensive benefits, and a flexible family-friendly work environment. Some of our perks include:
- Comprehensive healthcare benefits
- Maybern covers 100% of medical, dental, and vision premiums
- HSA & FSA plans

We are equipping fund managers with a fully agentic operating system for private fund management, enabling private investment managers to focus on what they do best: driving returns for their investors. We are backed by leading venture capital firms and a large number of strategic investors.
Maybern is an NYC based company with a strong in-office culture to drive collaboration, and we are looking to make strong additions to our team.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
We're looking for a senior engineer to join our Calculations & Allocations team - the team that builds the core primitives the entire Maybern platform runs on. We own three systems: a custom expression language (MXL) that lets clients define any financial calculation without writing code, a workflow engine that orchestrates multi-step fund operations, and the allocation and waterfall models that determine how every dollar flows through a fund structure. The problems here are genuinely unusual - part language design, part financial modeling, part distributed systems. You should be someone who gets energized by building foundational abstractions that hundreds of downstream features depend on.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
To thrive in this role, you must be an entrepreneurial engineer who enjoys getting into the weeds.
- Extend a financial expression language: MXL is Maybern's formula system — with its own parser, execution engine, type system, and audit framework. You'll add new functions and calculation contexts, optimize execution, and build tooling that makes complex financial logic composable and debuggable
- Build workflow orchestration: Fund operations involve multi-step, stateful processes — capital calls, closings, fee postings — that must execute correctly across distributed systems. You'll design the runtime that coordinates these workflows
- Model fund mechanics: Allocations, waterfalls, carry calculations, equalization — the financial primitives that determine how money moves through a fund. You'll translate intricate fund structures into configurable, auditable models that work across every customer's unique setup
WHO YOU ARE
- You've built systems where correctness is non-negotiable — financial calculations, billing engines, trading systems, or similar domains where a rounding error is a production incident
- You're drawn to abstraction design — building configurable primitives that generalize across use cases without collapsing under edge cases
- You have strong opinions about how domain logic should be modeled and can translate a 30-minute conversation with a fund accountant into a clean data model
THIS COULD BE A GREAT FIT IF YOU...
- Are comfortable working with server-side languages and frameworks (we're tech agnostic in interviews, but use Python and Django in practice)
- Have a solid grasp of relational databases and transactions - especially in contexts where correctness and auditability are non-negotiable
- Have experience leading systems that are highly configurable and designed to handle significant variability across use cases
- Are knowledgeable about platform/cloud technologies and distributed systems; AWS experience is a bonus
- Are obsessed with details and genuinely excited to learn the mechanics of private markets (waterfalls, allocations, fund accounting) one workflow at a time
- Have excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Thrive in high-growth, fast-paced environments and can adapt as the product and team scale
- Have experience building DSLs, formula engines, rule systems, or other user-programmable abstractions
- Have designed or worked on workflow/orchestration systems (even simple state machines count)
BENEFITS
- We offer a competitive salary + equity package, comprehensive benefits, and a flexible family-friendly work environment. Some of our perks include:
- Comprehensive healthcare benefits
- Maybern covers 100% of medical, dental, and vision premiums
