Outpost is an orbital logistics company rewriting the rules of global logistics by building reusable Earth-return vehicles that unlock in-space manufacturing, on-orbit warehousing, and 60-minute global delivery through space.
Our CarryAll vehicle family returns payloads ranging from 200 kilograms to 10 metric tons, lands within 10 meters of its target, and can then be refurbished and launched again. One vehicle, many missions: responsive logistics and precision delivery for national security; commercial cargo moved with real cadence; R&D payloads flown, tested, and refined across repeatable cycles; and critical aid delivered where roads and runways can’t reach.
The demand is already here, validated through defense and civil agreements and supported by a growing pipeline of government and commercial customers.

The Role
Outpost is building vehicles that bring things back from space. Getting mass from orbit to a precise point on the ground is a GNC problem end to end: a deorbit burn that has to hit an entry corridor, a hypersonic entry that has to bleed energy inside structural and thermal limits, and a guided descent that has to land on a target, repeatably, and cheaply enough to do it often.
We're hiring a Senior GNC Engineer to own that chain. This is not a role where you hand algorithms over a wall. You'll design the guidance and estimation architecture, write the flight code, put it on hardware, sit through the HIL runs, go out to the drop tests and flight campaigns, and come back with data that changes the design. If you want to see your controller fly within months rather than years, this is that job.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in a related technical discipline with 5+ years as a GNC or Controls professional or Advanced degree with 3+ years as a GNC or Controls professional
Software development experience in C++ and Python.
Experience in software tools such as Git, Jira, and CI Pipeline
Algorithms on real hardware (e.g. Extended Kalman Filters, LQR)
Strong understanding of classical dynamics, modeling and simulation, classical and modern control.
Ability to work in a fast paced, autonomously driven atmosphere.
Passion for space and the application of advanced estimation and control techniques in this domain
Additional Qualifications:
Experience with implementing optimal control for burn planning
Experience with satellite maneuvering and thruster systems
Demonstrated project or professional experience in satellite attitude determination and control
Experience in end-to-end development of three axis stabilized spacecraft incorporating momentum, magnetic, and/or propulsive control.
Experience with flexible body control, orbital maneuvering, filtering, fault management, software development, and navigation filtering.
Responsibilities:
Modeling, design, analysis, implementation and test of satellite attitude determination and control (ADCS) algorithms.
Hardware performance specification including reaction wheel and torque rod sizing, sensor noise and performance, characteristics, redundancy and fault management.
Define and own ADCS requirements definition with electrical and mechanical engineers
Implement closed loop pointing, orbit raising, and station keeping algorithms for flight.
Analyze platform stability to ensure low jitter of line-of-sight instruments.
Develop high fidelity 6 degree of freedom satellite simulations using Python, Matlab or C++.
Develop entry guidance, entry corridor and reachability analysis, deorbit burn targeting, aerothermal and load-constrained trajectory shaping.
Develop EKF and UKF with GNSS, IMU, air data, radar or laser altimetry, magnetometers, and optical or terrain-relative sensors; sensor error modeling and calibration; GNSS-denied or degraded navigation, including through plasma blackout.
Implement control of aerodynamically unstable or marginally stable vehicles, gain scheduling and robust control across wide Mach and dynamic pressure ranges, actuator and effector allocation, autonomous mode sequencing and abort logic.
Support flight test campaigns at test sites — test planning, instrumentation requirements, real-time support, and flight data reconstruction.
Compensation & Benefits:
Salary: $160,000 - $205,000, based on experience

The Team
We're looking for a Lead Engineer, Integration and Test to own assembly, integration, and test (AI&T) for Outpost's return vehicles. This role leads test campaigns end to end from planning through flight readiness and leads a small team of engineers and technicians executing that work. You'll partner closely with structures, avionics, propulsion, and software teams to resolve cross-discipline issues, and you'll help build the AI&T processes and tooling Outpost needs as it scales.
Responsibilities:
Own the integration and test strategy for the return vehicle, from component-level bring-up through full-vehicle qualification
Lead a small team of engineers and technicians executing AI&T
Develop and execute test procedures, including environmental and functional test campaigns
Drive anomaly investigation and resolution during integration and test
Coordinate with structures, avionics, propulsion, and software teams to resolve cross-discipline issues
Own test documentation and support flight readiness reviews
Help build and refine AI&T processes and tooling as the company scales
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
6+ years of experience in spacecraft or launch vehicle integration and test
Proven experience leading test campaigns from planning through flight readiness
Strong understanding of environmental testing (vibration, thermal vacuum, acoustic)
Experience developing test procedures, anomaly resolution, and test reporting
Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor junior engineers and technicians
Comfortable working hands-on in a machine shop/lab environment alongside leading strategy
Preferred Experience
Experience with reusable or return vehicles specifically
Experience with proof and acceptance test campaigns
Program or test management experience
Compensation:

Outpost is an orbital logistics company rewriting the rules of global logistics by building reusable Earth-return vehicles that unlock in-space manufacturing, on-orbit warehousing, and 60-minute global delivery through space.
Our CarryAll vehicle family returns payloads ranging from 200 kilograms to 10 metric tons, lands within 10 meters of its target, and can then be refurbished and launched again. One vehicle, many missions: responsive logistics and precision delivery for national security; commercial cargo moved with real cadence; R&D payloads flown, tested, and refined across repeatable cycles; and critical aid delivered where roads and runways can’t reach.
The demand is already here, validated through defense and civil agreements and supported by a growing pipeline of government and commercial customers.

The Team
We're looking for a hands-on Avionics Engineer to design, build, and test the avionics systems that power Outpost's return vehicles. This role owns hardware from flight computers and power distribution to sensor integration and communications, working across the full lifecycle from architecture through flight. You'll work closely with structures, software, and integration and test teams to deliver avionics that survive launch, orbital, and reentry environments. You'll report to engineering leadership and have direct ownership over the systems you build.
Responsibilities:
Design, build, and test avionics hardware for the return vehicle, from flight computers to power systems and sensor suites
Support component- and system-level qualification testing, including vibration, thermal, and EMI/EMC
Support avionics integration with the vehicle harness, structures, and software teams
Troubleshoot hardware issues during integration, test, and flight operations
Develop test procedures and support flight readiness reviews
Contribute to avionics architecture decisions balancing reliability, mass, and cost
Support vehicle assembly, integration, and test
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience
3+ years designing and testing avionics hardware for aerospace or similarly complex systems
Experience with flight computers, power distribution units, sensor integration, or communication systems
Proficiency with schematic capture and circuit analysis tools
Experience with embedded systems debugging, oscilloscopes, and lab test equipment
Strong understanding of avionics architecture for launch, orbital, or reentry environments
Ability to work cross-functionally with software, structures, and test teams
Preferred Experience
Experience with radiation-tolerant or flight-heritage avionics components
Familiarity with reentry or hypersonic vehicle environments
Experience with FPGA or embedded firmware development
Background at a launch vehicle, satellite, or spacecraft company
Compensation:

The Role
Outpost's vehicles are unlike anything in the market, reusable, fabric-shielded, paraglider-guided Earth-return spacecraft. We're looking for a Mechanical Engineer who will own the design and delivery of flight and ground hardware for our Atmospheric Entry (ATMO) subsystem, the hardware that keeps customer payloads safe from launch through landing.
This role spans the full engineering lifecycle, design, analysis, drawing release, build support, and test. You'll work alongside an integrated team and have meaningful ownership of your hardware from day one.
What You’ll Do
Design and develop mechanical systems for atmospheric recovery, including deployable structures, aerodynamic decelerators, recovery mechanisms, airframe interfaces, and precision landing hardware from requirements through release, build support, and qualification.
Develop CDR-level design packages: CAD, drawings, specifications, analysis, and test plans.
Define and manage hardware requirements, interface with mission operations and payload customers.
Perform or coordinate structural and thermal analysis to verify hardware margins.
Write and execute qualification and acceptance test procedures, support environmental test campaigns.
Participate in peer reviews and formal milestone reviews (CDR, TRR, etc.).
Drive design reviews (PDR/CDR) and prepare clear documentation, drawings, BOMs, and work instructions.
Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or higher in Aerospace, Mechanical, or Systems Engineering.
5-10 years designing flight hardware structures and mechanisms.
Experience taking hardware from concept to production and/or flight.
Strong proficiency in CAD (SolidWorks, NX, or similar) and mechanical analysis tools (structural/thermal in Ansys - Solidworks).
Experience designing structures, mechanisms, deployables, or aerodynamic structures (parachutes/paragliders, flaps, linkages, hinges, etc.).
Understanding of load path, interfaces, and environmental requirements for high-energy flight environments.
Experience executing rapid, hands-on prototypes to support fast design–build–test cycles.
Excellent documentation, communication, and technical writing skills.
Understanding of spacecraft environmental requirements (launch loads, shock, vibration, thermal).
Write and read engineering requirements and interface control documents.
Strong cross-functional communication - you'll work daily with systems, integration, and test engineers.
Preferred Experience
Experience taking hardware through at least one formal design review (PDR or CDR); exposure to qualification testing strongly preferred.
Experience with reentry systems, atmospheric flight vehicles, TPS interfaces, or parachute/paraglider systems.
Background integrating soft goods with rigid structures.
Experience in hypersonic, supersonic, or high-aero-load environments.
Field test experience (drop tests, flight tests, parachute deployments, etc.).
Familiarity with DOF-limited mechanisms and precision actuation in harsh environments.

The Role
The Senior Mechanical Engineer will serve as the technical authority for the primary and secondary structures of Outpost’s Carryall. This is a role for a veteran structural engineer who has expertise on full-scale flight vehicles whether launch vehicles, satellites, or re-entry capsules. Unlike traditional space vehicle roles where the structure simply needs to survive launch, you are designing for the round trip: launch vibration, the harsh vacuum of orbit, and the extreme thermal and mechanical loads of hypersonic re-entry and landing. You will own the structural architecture of the vehicle, moving rapidly from trade studies to detailed analysis, and finally to hands-on integration.
Responsibilities
Lead the mechanical design of the entire vehicle structure, including primary structure, interfaces to the deployable heatshield, secondary structures, and payload bay
Perform and sign off on detailed hand calculations and Finite Element Analysis (ANSYS/FEMAP/NASTRAN). You will be the final check on stiffness, buckling, and thermal expansion compatibility.
Create and approve high-quality manufacturing drawings with appropriate geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (ASME Y14.5) to ensure parts fit the first time.
"Get your hands dirty" leading the assembly of your designs. Own the structural test campaign (static load, random vibration, shock, and deployment testing) to qualify hardware for flight.
Work directly with machine shops, composite vendors, and external partners to resolve fabrication conflicts and ensure on-time delivery of precision parts.
Elevate the team's standard of engineering rigor. Mentor junior engineers in design best practices, analysis methods, and First Principles thinking.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Structural Engineering.
8+ years of experience in the design and analysis of complex aerospace structures and mechanisms.
Proven track record working on space vehicles or rockets.
Experience taking a primary structure from concept through PDR/CDR to flight.
Experience with Siemens NX, SolidWorks, or similar parametric modeling software.
Experience structural analysis (FEA) and classical hand calculations. You must trust your hand calcs before you trust the solver.
Working knowledge of aerospace materials (aluminum, titanium, Inconel, composites) and their behavior in extreme thermal environments.
Experience in designing for manufacturing, CNC machining, sheet metal, welding, and composite layup.
Preferred Experience
Active U.S. Government Security Clearance (Not required, but beneficial)
Experience with deployable space structures and mechanisms (booms, solar arrays, antennas, or aerobrakes).
Experience designing for high-heat environments or integrating with Thermal Protection Systems (TPS).
Proficiency in scripting (Python/MATLAB) for design automation or data post-processing.
Deep knowledge of aerospace standards (NASA-STD-5000 series, SMC-S-016) for structural margins and testing.

Outpost is an orbital logistics company rewriting the rules of global logistics by building reusable Earth-return vehicles that unlock in-space manufacturing, on-orbit warehousing, and 60-minute global delivery through space.
Our CarryAll vehicle family returns payloads ranging from 200 kilograms to 10 metric tons, lands within 10 meters of its target, and can then be refurbished and launched again. One vehicle, many missions: responsive logistics and precision delivery for national security; commercial cargo moved with real cadence; R&D payloads flown, tested, and refined across repeatable cycles; and critical aid delivered where roads and runways can’t reach.
The demand is already here, validated through defense and civil agreements and supported by a growing pipeline of government and commercial customers.

The Role
We’re looking for a Senior Structure Analysis Engineer to own structural and thermal analysis across flight hardware, from early design through flight readiness and production. This role sits at the center of engineering decision-making. You will be responsible for ensuring hardware is analytically sound, flight-worthy, and properly dispositioned - working closely with mechanical design, avionics, test, manufacturing, and systems teams.
Responsibilities
Own structural analysis of primary and secondary spacecraft structures, including but not limited to:
Modal analysis
Random vibration
Static and quasi-static loading
Coefficient of Thermal Expansion (CTE) and thermo-elastic loading
Perform analysis on a wide range of hardware, including:
Flight structures and mechanisms
Avionics enclosures
PCB and electronics assemblies
Lead or support thermal analysis to evaluate operating margins, gradients, and coupled structural-thermal effects
Serve as a technical authority for hardware disposition:
Assess flight and test hardware prior to production
Support nonconformance (NCR) resolution and root-cause analysis
Provide clear, defensible recommendations for accept-as-is, repair, or rework decisions
Partner closely with design and test teams to translate requirements into analysis models and to correlate analysis with test result
Contribute to analysis methodologies, best practices, and documentation that scale with the program.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
8+ years of experience, with at least 5 years analyzing complex aerospace components.
Proven experience performing linear and nonlinear finite element analysis (FEA) of spacecraft, launch vehicle, or aerospace structures using tools such as Nastran, Patran, ANSYS, or equivalent.
Strong experience applying analysis to real flight hardware - not just academic models.
Experience supporting hardware through test, flight qualification, and production.
Experience analyzing metallic and composite primary and secondary structures under static, dynamic, thermal, vibration, and fatigue loading conditions.
Strong understanding of spacecraft and launch vehicle load paths, structural sizing, margins of safety, and failure modes.
Experience supporting structural verification through analysis, testing, and correlation, including qualification and acceptance test campaigns.
Experience with launch environments, including random vibration, sine vibration, shock, acoustic loads, and thermal environments.
Preferred Experience
Active U.S. Government Security Clearance (not required, but beneficial).
Experience supporting NASA, DoD, or commercial spaceflight programs.
Familiarity with reusable spacecraft, orbital transfer vehicles, or in-space logistics platforms.
Experience working in a fast-paced startup environment with rapid design iterations.
Compensation & Benefit
