Senior IT Engineer - London
RunwayML · United States
Pay
$65k–90k
Setting

We are building AI to simulate the world through merging art and science.
We believe that world models are at the frontier of progress in artificial intelligence. Language models alone won’t solve the world’s hardest problems – robotics, disease, scientific discovery. Real progress requires models that experience the world and learn from their mistakes, the same way that humans do. And this kind of trial and error can be massively accelerated when done in simulation, rather than in the real world.
World models offer the most clear path to general-purpose simulation, changing how stories are told, how scientific progress is made and how the next frontiers of humanity are reached.
Our team consists of creative, open minded, caring and ambitious people who are determined to change the world. We aspire to continuously build impossible things and our ability to do so relies on building an incredible team. If you are driven to do the same, we'd love to hear from you.
ABOUT THE ROLE
*Open to hiring remote across EMEA — preferable to have someone near our office in London.
We're looking for someone to join our IT team and take ownership of day-to-day technical support for a globally distributed company. You'd report to the Head of IT/Security and be the first point of contact for employees with requests, device issues, and account problems.
You'll own the fundamentals from day one: handling tickets, provisioning laptops, running on-boarding, and keeping our SaaS stack in order. But this is a small team at a fast-growing AI company, so the scope grows quickly. You'll get pulled into real projects sooner than you'd expect, across security, infrastructure, and automation. How far you take it depends on what you're good at and what interests you.
This role is also the start of our IT presence internationally. Most of the company sits in North America today, and you'd be our first IT hire outside it, extending support coverage to new time-zones and helping lay the groundwork as we grow globally.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Handle help-desk tickets: Triage and resolve employee requests — password resets, access provisioning, Slack/Google Workspace/Zoom troubleshooting, and general "my thing is broken" support
- Manage the device lifecycle: Procure, provision, configure, and ship laptops for new hires. Handle off-boarding wipes and returns. Keep the asset inventory accurate.
- Run on-boarding and off-boarding: Create accounts, apply security profiles, draft welcome communications, and make sure new employees have everything before day one
- Administer Google Workspace: Manage users, groups, aliases, and license assignments. You'll use both the admin console and CLI tools regularly.
- Support endpoint compliance: Work with our device trust tooling to keep employee machines meeting security policies, and follow up when they don't
- Deploy and enforce security policies: Help roll out and maintain endpoint security configurations, access controls, and compliance requirements across the fleet
- Manage corporate software: Handle seat assignments, renewals, license optimization, and access reviews across our SaaS stack
- Support office networking and AV: Help maintain networking equipment, conference room setups, and office technology across our physical locations as needed
- Train and enable employees: Deliver lightweight technical guidance and training on IT systems, both for new hires and for ongoing support (written guides, short walkthroughs, the occasional screen share)
- Write things down: Maintain run-books, knowledge base articles, and process docs. If you fix something, document how.
WHERE THIS ROLE CAN GROW
We don't expect you to stay in a pure helpdesk lane. Our SOC2 program has ongoing evidence collection and device trust work to pick up, and there's security policy work that needs someone to own the rollout and enforcement side.
On the infrastructure side, we manage cloud resources through infrastructure-as-code, and there's room to contribute once you're comfortable. We also automate a lot (scripting, CI/CD pipelines) and there's no shortage of manual process waiting to be turned into a workflow.
Over time, you'd lead IT projects around endpoint management, security improvements, and internal tooling rather than just executing on them.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED
- Some form of IT support experience. A help-desk role, an internal support function, or just being the person everyone came to when something broke. The title matters less than the reps.
- Comfort with macOS. Our user endpoint fleet is mostly Mac. You should be able to troubleshoot system issues, manage profiles, and work in the terminal without hand-holding.
- Familiarity with Google Workspace administration, or the confidence to pick it up fast. CLI admin tooling experience is a plus.
- A working understanding of networking fundamentals: DNS, DHCP, LAN/WAN basics, and how traffic moves. You don't need to be a network engineer, but you shouldn't be lost when a connectivity issue comes in.
- Basic understanding of cybersecurity principles. You should know what endpoint security, encryption, and access controls are, and why they matter, even if you haven't built policies from scratch.
- Strong written communication. This is a remote role and coordination happens in Slack and Notion. If you can't write clearly, the timezone gap makes everything harder.
- Self-direction. There's separation between you and the rest of the IT team for part of the day. You need to be someone who sees what needs doing and does it.
- Curiosity about how systems work. Maybe you've run a homelab, automated something tedious with a script, or set up a Pi. We care more about the impulse than the resume line.
NICE TO HAVE
- Experience with MDM platforms (any of the major ones)
- Any exposure to cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, etc) and infrastructure-as-code concepts
- Scripting in Python, Bash, or JavaScript
- Familiarity with zero-trust networking concepts and tools
- Background in compliance frameworks (SOC2, ISO 27001)
- Exposure to international IT regulations or data privacy requirements (GDPR, etc.)
Runway strives to recruit and retain exceptional talent from diverse backgrounds while ensuring pay equity for our team. Our salary ranges are based on competitive market rates for our size, stage and industry, and salary is just one part of the overall compensation package we provide.
There are many factors that go into salary determinations, including relevant experience, skill level and qualifications assessed during the interview process, and maintaining internal equity with peers on the team. The range shared below is a general expectation for the function as posted, but we are also open to considering candidates who may be more or less experienced than outlined in the job description. In this case, we will communicate any updates in the expected salary range.
Lastly, the provided range is the expected salary for candidates in the U.S. Outside of those regions, there may be a change in the range, which again, will be communicated to candidates.

ABOUT THE ROLE
*Open to hiring remote across North America and London — we also have offices in NYC, San Francisco, Seattle, and London.
We’re building a tool that makes content creation easy and accessible for all types of creatives. Our users love it. Runway has an actively engaged and growing community of passionate artists and creators worldwide. And we’re growing our support team to ensure we can continue to provide delightful experiences for our users every day.
We're looking for a Consumer Support Specialist who comes in with strong foundations: someone who knows their way around modern tools, handles high volume without losing quality, and speaks up when they see something worth fixing.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Work through a high volume of inbound support tickets across Free, Standard, Pro and Unlimited plans with speed and accuracy
- Handle escalations from our AI support layer with sharp judgement on what needs a human and what doesn't
- Identify patterns across tickets and proactively surface them to the product team- not just reporting, but also offering thoughtful recommendations based on what you're seeing
- Help identify opportunities to maintain or build self-service content: help docs, short-form videos, FAQs, etc.
- Engage with the Runway community on Discord and other forums
- Contribute directly to process improvements and automation, including building things yourself when the opportunity is there
- Triage complex technical issues for escalation to Enterprise support
- Live troubleshoot within the Runway platform as needed
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
- You're already comfortable in tools like Notion, Slack, Zendesk (or similar), Google Workspace and AI platforms
- Strong written communication: clear, direct, and thoughtful at volume
- A learn-by-failing mentality, when you hit something unfamiliar, you have an experimental mindset
- Natural curiosity about how products work, why users get confused, and what could be done better
- Comfort managing your own work in a fast-moving environment- high ownership and high autonomy
- Data driven mindset: you notice patterns and know how to communicate them
- 1-3 years in customer support, operations, or technical role
- Expertise and/or interest in the creative space, AI or both
- Genuine interest in AI, creative tools or both
WHAT SETS YOU APART
The most successful people in this role don't just keep up- they set the pace. They move through 60, 80, even 100+ tickets in a day without letting quality slip. They're reading the queue, not just clearing it. They notice what keeps surfacing and do something about it, a message to product, a doc, sometimes something they built themselves. They show up with ideas no one asked for yet.

Japan has been one of Runway’s fastest-growing markets, even without a major commercial presence – it's our third-largest market among both enterprise and self-serve customers, and the fastest-growing self-serve market in Asia. You’ll work closely with our Sales and Account Management teams to convey the value of Runway to Enterprise prospects and customers, specifically in the Japan market. As a user of Runway yourself and a content creator, you will handle pre and post-sale work, ensuring that customers are using Runway to it’s full potential, as well as any creative work in the product, inclusive of media content, presets, featured workflows, etc. You’ll also have a hand in any marketing sprints for model and feature releases. This role requires full professional bilingual fluency in Japanese and English.
Things are always moving quickly at Runway. We need team members with an agile and dynamic mentality who are comfortable with change and always willing to go above and beyond to ensure a job is done optimally.

- Partner with our Sales and Creative teams to provide guidance and training to Enterprise prospects and customers.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED
- Full professional bilingual fluency in Japanese and English
- Experience & expertise creating content from end to end
- Experience working with Japanese enterprises a plus
- Passion for experimentation when it comes to content creation and creative workflows- you care more about “how we get there” than “the destination”
- Comfort working with creative tools in addition to Runway (Adobe, DaVinci Resolve etc), as well as an understanding of our technical and competitive landscape
- You love sharing and presenting the things you’ve built
- Ability to deliver complex information to customers in a clear and concise way
- Ability to thrive in a constantly changing and growing environment
- Excitement about AI and motivation to continuously learn more about this new and exciting space!

ABOUT THE ROLE
*Open to hiring remote across the west coast — we also have offices in San Francisco and Seattle
We're building a tool that makes content creation accessible for everyone, from individual creators to Fortune 500 enterprises. We're looking for an experienced support professional with 3-5+ years in customer-facing technical roles who can hit the ground running.
This role requires someone who operates independently, makes sound judgments without constant oversight, and naturally adjusts their communication style based on who they're helping. Our support team operates strategically - you'll handle complex technical issues, consult on creative workflows, and directly impact customer retention and expansion.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Manage customer inquiries across email, chat, Slack, focusing on complex cases requiring human judgment
- Provide technical and creative support to enterprise customers via written communication and calls
- Investigate technical issues and create detailed bug reports that save engineering time
- QA test AI support automation for quality and accuracy
- Partner with Customer Success on enterprise implementation and adoption, and collaborate cross-functionally with Product and Engineering teams
- Stay current on product updates by actively using Runway
- Contribute to knowledge base, documentation, and process improvements
- Identify systemic issues from ticket patterns and calls, and proactively suggest improvements and operate autonomously - you know when to escalate vs. own a problem through resolution
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
- Experience with a mix of video editing, content creation, creative workflows, or generative AI tools
- 3-5+ years in customer-facing technical roles (support, solutions engineering, CSM, technical account management)
- Proven track record handling enterprise customers and complex escalations
- History of working autonomously with minimal supervision
- Examples of process improvements or systems you've built
FOR YOUR APPLICATION:
During our interview process, you'll have several chances to get acquainted with the Runway product and use all the features our team has built - and that starts now! As part of your application, instead of a cover letter, we ask that you try out the Runway product, specifically build a custom workflow.
Build a Custom Runway Workflow:
1. Sign up for a free Runway account (no payment required)
2. Review these resources:
1. Tutorial https://academy.runwayml.com/workflows/using-workflows
2. Guide https://help.runwayml.com/hc/en-us/articles/45769159004691-Building-your-first-Workflows
3. Build a workflow based on your own creative idea or theme.
1. Your workflow should include at least 3 steps
2. Think about a real creative problem someone might solve with Runway
4. Submit in the application:
1. Screenshot of your completed workflow
2. Brief description (3-4 sentences): What's your creative concept? What does your workflow accomplish? Who would use this?
Note: Free accounts can build workflows but can't run them - that's fine! We want to see your ability to learn the product and think creatively about how customers might use it.
Runway strives to recruit and retain exceptional talent from diverse backgrounds while ensuring pay equity for our team. Our salary ranges are based on competitive market rates for our size, stage and industry, and salary is just one part of the overall compensation package we provide.

ABOUT THE ROLE
We are looking for a passionate Design Engineer to join Runway Labs — our research and exploration team pushing the frontier of AI video and General World Models. This is not a role focused on Runway core consumer products; instead, you’ll be embedded in a fast-moving lab environment where the work is exploratory, experimental, and technical.
This candidate should be a motivated self-starter with experience working closely with engineering and research teams to rapidly prototype and ship. You'll explore new interfaces and interaction paradigms for AI generated video, world models, and agentic systems helping translate cutting-edge research into tangible, usable experiences.
This role requires a blend of design skills and technical expertise, along with a genuine passion for both. As part of a small team, you’ll collaborate with researchers, engineers, and product designers to develop concept prototypes, design high-value interactive features, and build tools that enable new creative and research workflows.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Prototype and implement novel user experiences at the intersection of AI video, world models, and emerging generative media
- Design and build agentic tools and interfaces that allow researchers and creatives to interact with and direct AI systems in real time
- Explore new application areas for AI video and general world models — from simulation and interactive media to research tooling
- Stretch the limits of front-end engineering to broaden what’s possible in research and experimentation contexts
- Create internal tools and frameworks used across design and engineering teams at Runway Labs
- Work alongside researchers, engineers, and product designers to shape how we think about the future of AI-driven creativity
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
- Genuine curiosity about AI video, world models, agentic engineering and generative media and an intuition for how to design meaningful interactions with these systems
- Experience designing flows, prototypes, and high-fidelity UIs for web and agentic products
- Experience building agentic tools or interfaces — i.e., systems where AI takes actions, reasons over state, or drives multi-step workflows
- Strong understanding of visual and interaction design, as well as usability testing
- Comfort working in ambiguous, research oriented environments where the problem space is still being defined
- Strong understanding of visual and interaction design, as well as usability testing.

ABOUT THE ROLE
We're looking for a Product Designer to own the experience developers have building on Runway's API: the docs, the console, and the moment someone goes from reading a reference page to a working integration. You'll partner with platform engineering and product to turn a fast-moving API surface into something developers can actually pick up and use.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Design the developer console and API docs experience, from account setup and API keys to usage, billing, and rate limits
- Prototype and ship playground tools, quickstarts, and code samples that let developers test endpoints and outputs before writing integration code
- Turn new models and endpoints into clear, well-documented interfaces as the platform ships, keeping pace with a fast-moving API surface
- Collaborate closely with platform engineering to design authentication, webhooks, and other technical flows in terms developers actually understand
- Contribute to visual and interaction consistency between the developer platform and the rest of Runway's product
- Set the design direction for the developer platform as a whole and mentor other designers working on it
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
- Experience designing developer-facing products with a platform or tool you've shipped to point to
- Comfort translating technical concepts into interfaces a developer can use without reading a manual first
- Experience designing flows, prototypes and high-fidelity UI's for web products, with strong visual design skills
- Experience delivering and iterating fast in close collaboration with engineering teams
- Ability and flexibility to iterate fast and often
- Passion for working with small teams, establishing a design culture, and creating a design-centric process within the company
- Knowledge of the creative tool space and genuine interest in how developers build with generative AI
- Experience in creating functional prototypes using AI tools (Claude Code, Cursor, etc.)
- At Runway, it's always a bonus if you have artistic and creative potential (particularly skills with video/audio editing, icon/typography design, illustration, etc.)
