About the Opportunity:
The research is what sets a disruptive MDR apart, and at TENEX it drives everything we detect. As Senior Security Researcher, you’ll study emerging adversary behavior, build the detections and tooling that catch it, and translate research into real customer protection. About the Opportunity:
TENEX delivers MDR across AWS, GCP, and Azure, and cloud is where many customers face the fastest-moving risk. As Lead Cloud Security Engineer, you are the cloud subject-matter expert working alongside our Security Operations Center. You will build and automate the cloud security health checks that let us assess customer environments and turn those findings into clear remediation guidance. Additionally, you will ensure our analysts have what they need to effectively investigate and respond to cloud incidents. The role has two aims: improve our existing cloud detection and response capabilities, and help customers manage attack surface and blast radius by improving their cloud security posture.
What You’ll Do:
Build and automate cloud security health checks. Develop repeatable checks across AWS, GCP, and Azure that surface misconfigurations, identity and access issues, and exposure consistently across customer environments.
Turn findings into guidance. Translate health-check and assessment results into prioritized, practical remediation recommendations and best-practice guidance customers can act on.
Strengthen cloud investigation and response. Work with the SOC to keep detection coverage, runbooks, and response procedures for cloud incidents accurate and current.
Support analysts on cloud incidents. Serve as the escalation point and subject-matter expert for cloud-specific detections and investigations across AWS, GCP, and Azure.
Define cloud detection use-cases. Identify the cloud threats, techniques, and misconfigurations that warrant detection, and translate them into clear requirements for Detection Engineering to build against real customer telemetry.

What You Bring:
7+ years in cloud security with deep hands-on experience across AWS, GCP, and Azure.
Hands-on experience with CNAPP/CSPM tooling (Wiz or comparable) for posture assessment, and a strong grasp of cloud misconfigurations and identity and access risks.
Working knowledge of cloud attack techniques and how they appear in logs and telemetry, with experience supporting or running cloud incident investigations.
Ability to automate checks and workflows through scripting and APIs, and to communicate findings clearly to both analysts and customers.
Bonus Points:

As a SOC Engineer, you'll operate across incident response, platform quality, and operational improvement — evaluating telemetry coverage, shaping response automation, handling high-severity escalations, and ensuring the tooling and workflows analysts depend on are fit for purpose. The role carries direct engagement across internal engineering teams and customers, and no shortage of hard problems to solve. What You'll Do
Handle complex incident response and escalation. Take ownership of high-severity and technically complex incidents — leading investigation, driving containment decisions, and communicating findings clearly when it counts.
Assess and improve telemetry and logging coverage. Automate evaluation of customer environments for logging gaps and deficiencies across endpoint, network, identity, and cloud. Specify what's needed for effective detection and investigation, and work with customers and internal teams to close the gaps.
Ensure SIEM and detection quality. Apply deep platform knowledge to evaluate detection fidelity, data normalization, parser quality, and alert logic — identifying where coverage or quality falls short and partnering with detection engineering to address it.
Contribute to response automation quality. Work closely with the SOAR team to review enrichment logic, containment playbooks, and automation design — bringing an incident responder's perspective to what works under pressure and what doesn't.

As an AI/ML Engineer at TENEX, you will be a key technical driver responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing scalable, high-performance AI systems. You will play a crucial role in shaping the architecture of our AI-driven cybersecurity solutions while collaborating across engineering teams and driving technical innovation.

Location: This role will require Monday - Thursday onsite in any of our locations. WFH Friday.
Job Responsibilities
Project Execution: Ability to drive and land large abstract projects from start to finish. This means communicating effectively to gather consensus, efficient delegation, and bringing multiple stakeholders on the journey.
AI Layer Engineering: Design & build the AI layer that powers autonomous detection, RAG-backed investigation, and auto-remediation workflows.
Productionize Reasoning Engines: Develop and productionize large-scale LLMs, graph-based reasoning engines, and streaming feature pipelines that operate on billions of security events.
Evaluation & Reliability: Own evaluation & reliability—from prompt libraries and fine-tuning to red-team testing, latency budgets, and fallback strategies.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner tightly with Product, Detection Engineering, and Customer Success to translate real-world attacker behavior into robust ML and rule-based detections.
Push the Frontier: Experiment with retrieval-augmented generation, tool-calling agents, and multi-modal models (text + logs + graphs) to keep defenders decisively ahead.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Software Engineering & Architecture Expertise
Core Engineering: 1 - 3+ years of experience in software development, engineering production systems using modern programming languages (Python, Go, Rust, or Java).
Agentic Systems: Deep knowledge of agentic systems design, such as Centralized and/or Decentralized MAS (Multi-Agent Systems) architectures.
Graph Architectures: Solid understanding of Graph structures and specifically graph databases.
Orchestration Frameworks: Hands-on experience building agents, orchestration frameworks (LangChain/LangGraph, Agno AGI, or custom), and evaluation harnesses.
Distributed Systems: Deep understanding of microservices architecture, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and event-driven systems.
APIs: Strong fundamentals in API design (REST/gRPC) and distributed systems.
Soft Skills
Communication: Clear, concise communication skills and a bias for collaborative problem-solving.
Leadership Alignment: Proven track record of gathering consensus and guiding multi-stakeholder initiatives through uncertain boundaries.
Analytical Rigor: Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Nice-to-have
Domain Background: Prior work in cybersecurity (SIEM, EDR, SOAR, or MDR).
Startup Mentality: Background driving high-impact engineering initiatives in high-growth startups or enterprise SaaS.
Cloud Infrastructure: Familiarity with cloud infrastructure security (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
Education & Certifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
Relevant certifications (AWS/GCP Professional Engineer, Kubernetes, or security-related credentials) are a plus.
