We're seeking an experienced Engineering Director to lead a critical slice of our practice and to raise the quality bar across our entire application engineering org.

You'll oversee two teams, with a third team likely added next year, that own the patient's core journey with us: our Growth team, responsible for the new-patient experience from initial outreach through the first appointment, and our Patient Portal team, responsible for all subsequent patient visits and touchpoints. Beyond those two teams, you'll also own the QA and Product Support functions for all application teams—not just the ones reporting to you—making you a key partner to every other engineering leader in the org.

This is a role for someone who leads through managers but hasn't lost their hands-on edge. As we lean into AI-assisted development with tools like Claude Code, we want a director who can get into the codebase alongside teams to both help evolve our development practices to take advantage of these new agentic tools, as well as lead non-blocking cross-cutting problems like observability and alerting, high-leverage migrations, and the kind of DevEx work that makes every team faster and safer.

You'll work alongside our other Engineering Directors to ensure high quality and high velocity across the whole organization.

You will

• Oversee the success of the Growth and Patient Portal teams—ensuring they have the right people, processes, and timelines, and holding them accountable to delivering company value with a low defect rate and high reliability

• Own the QA and Product Support functions across all application teams, setting standards and building processes that hold quality high

• Lead through your managers—coaching, training, and developing the next generation of engineering leaders and senior ICs

• Set and enforce a high technical quality bar across your teams, and stay close enough to the code to drive resolution of technical problems that span team boundaries

• Identify and resolve issues of unclear ownership and cross-team dependencies, and close documentation and process gaps across the broader engineering org

• Partner with product, design, and clinical teams to keep the patient experience seamless from first touch through their ongoing care

• Work alongside other Engineering Directors to drive consistent quality and velocity across the entire org

• Build a positive, thriving culture across your teams that strengthens our org-wide engineering culture

You have:

• 8+ years of software engineering experience

• 4+ years of engineering management experience, including experience managing managers or leading multiple teams

• A strong, current technical background—you can still get hands-on and are credible with your senior engineers on architecture and code

• Hands-on experience with React, TypeScript (bonus: Next.js), and AWS

• Enthusiasm for AI-assisted development and experience adopting tools like Claude Code across teams

• A track record of overseeing teams that consistently deliver business value with low defect rates and high reliability

• Excellent communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, and the ability to scale your impact through delegation, written communication, and clear expectations

• Comfort with hard conversations—proactive about accountability and holding teams to a high performance bar

• Experience owning or partnering closely with QA and/or Product Support functions (bonus)

• Experience working in a HIPAA-compliant environment (bonus)

• Passion for creating exceptional patient experiences

We're looking for a Data Engineer to join our growing data team. You'll work alongside senior data engineers to build and maintain the pipelines, dbt models, and infrastructure that power Talkiatry's analytics, operations, and clinical reporting.

This is a role for someone who has hit their stride past their first DE job — comfortable shipping reliably, breaking down ambiguous asks, and willing to mentor a teammate when needed. You'll work independently within your scope (ingestion jobs, dbt model areas, internal tooling), partner with our BI / Analytics Engineering team who depend on your work, and take operational responsibility through on-call coverage.

You Will:

• Build and maintain ingestion pipelines and Python services running on AWS (Lambda, ECS)

• Develop and maintain dbt models in our Snowflake warehouse, with thoughtful tests and documentation

• Take operational responsibility — participate in the on-call rotation, triage pipeline failures, contribute to post-mortems

• Partner with our BI / Analytics Engineering team to translate their needs into reliable DE work

• Migrate independently-scheduled tasks and pipelines into Airflow DAGs as we standardize orchestration

• Contribute to our CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions) and team standards

• Mentor newer team members and review their work

You Have:

• 2+ years working as a Data Engineer (or in a closely-related role: backend engineering with substantial data work, analytics engineering, etc.)

• Strong Python — you're a programmer, not just someone who can write SQL. You can write clear, testable Python and understand idiomatic patterns.

• Advanced SQL — you've written non-trivial queries against a cloud warehouse, you understand window functions, joins, and how to write SQL that performs.

• Conceptual understanding of CI/CD pipelines — you don't need to have built one yourself, but you understand what they do and why they matter.

• Experience with a cloud data warehouse (Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery, etc.); Snowflake preferred.

• Comfortable in a cloud computing environment, ideally AWS.

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or similar is preferred but not required.

Nice to Have

• Experience with dbt (we use it heavily)

• Experience with Airflow or another orchestration tool

• Experience with ETL tools (Fivetran, Rivery, Stitch, etc.) — we use Fivetran

• Familiarity with Terraform or other IaC (our DevOps team owns most of this, but exposure is useful)

• Domain experience in healthcare
