THE OPPORTUNITY - Own the design, development, and delivery of scalable data models, semantic layers, and dashboards that serve business-critical reporting across Imprint - Partner directly with Engineering, Product, Finance, Marketing, and Operations to translate ambiguous business questions into reliable, scoped data solutions - Build and maintain dbt models that establish consistent, reusable data definitions and reduce ad hoc request volume through self-serve analytics infrastructure - Leverage AI-assisted development tools (Claude, Cursor, Copilot) to accelerate implementation, from SQL generation and model scaffolding to automated documentation, while owning the analytical design and validation - Own data quality, governance, and documentation practices for BI assets, ensuring dashboards and models are accurate, trustworthy, and discoverable - Surface insights proactively by identifying gaps and opportunities in the business, not just responding to inbound requests - Evaluate and adopt emerging AI tooling to improve team velocity, contributing to how the BI team integrates AI into its standard workflows YOUR PROFILE Required - Proven experience designing and delivering production-grade data solutions in a complex, high-scale environment - Deep SQL proficiency and strong data modeling fundamentals; the ability to read, validate, and direct complex queries matters more than raw writing speed in an AI-assisted workflow - Experience with a modern data stack (e.g., Snowflake or Databricks, dbt, Sigma or Looker) - Strong ability to work directly with stakeholders, translating ambiguous business questions into clear, scoped data products that non-technical users actually adopt and trust - Active experience building with AI tools (Claude, Codex, Copilot, Cursor, or similar) integrated into daily analytical and engineering workflows, not just awareness - Comfort operating in a fast-moving startup environment where you own projects end-to-end, prioritize based on business impact, and move fluidly between writing production SQL and sitting with stakeholders to define what "good" looks like Nice to Have - Experience in fintech, payments, lending, or regulated financial environments - Experience building or scaling BI infrastructure at a high-growth startup, including governance and data quality frameworks from scratch - Familiarity with data orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow) and Python or other scripting languages for transformation and automation - Experience defining AI-augmented analytics workflows at a team level: AI-assisted code review, automated documentation, prompt-driven data exploration, or agentic patterns like MCP and tool-use applied to data workflows We don't expect every candidate to check every box. And we’re looking for people who want to be part of it. The Senior Solution Architect at Matillion plays a key role in Matillion’s GTM motion. This role is responsible for discovering customer requirements, demonstrating how Matillion’s solutions solve their challenges, and driving business value through the platform. The Solution Architect is a consultative and adaptable team player who combines solution selling, technical expertise, and a customer-centric approach to engage in high-level technical discussions and foster long-term customer relationships. Discovering Customer Requirements Diagnose technical and business pain, confirming root causes and negative consequences. Engage key stakeholders to confirm desired future state, mapping it to success metrics and business outcomes. Support customer digital sales rooms, providing technical input and ensuring alignment between sales and technical teams. Validating Solution Fit Lead workshops, trials, or POCs to validate solution fit with business objectives. Position competitive advantages to influence trial success criteria. Guide customer teams to integrate our solutions into their data stacks during trials while driving measurable business outcomes. Support technical aspects of credit sizing estimates. Customer Onboarding and Growth Actively support customer cadences and business review meetings ensuring platform adoption, achievement of business goals, and driving customer engagement. Identify and drive opportunities for upselling and expansion, ensuring customers realise value by increasing platform consumption through new workloads and groups. Cultivate trusted advisor relationships with customers through cadences to set up technical infrastructure, rapidly achieve first value, and create long term customer engagement. Monitor adoption dashboards for key success indicators, proactively driving consumption upward, and ensuring the timely resolution of issues. Marketing and Thought Leadership Create technical content and case studies that demonstrate how Matillion’s solutions address customer challenges. Represent Matillion as a technical expert at industry events, conferences, and user groups, fostering a strong brand presence. Product Feedback & Improvement Collect and communicate customer feedback to the Product and Engineering teams, ensuring continuous product improvements and alignment with market needs. Stay informed about industry trends and best practices in data integration, cloud computing, and data transformation, sharing insights with both customers and internal teams. What we are looking for 5-7 years working with Enterprise customers in a technical role, such as Solution Architect, Sales Engineer, or similar. Expertise in cloud computing platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP and experience with Cloud Data Platforms like Snowflake and Databricks. In-depth understanding of relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle, SQL Server) and NoSQL databases (MongoDB, Cassandra, DynamoDB). Hands-on experience with technical problem-solving and integration technologies (APIs, Linux, SQL). Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Nice to have Knowledge of Matillion’s Data Productivity Cloud or Matillion ETL platforms as well as competitive ETL solutions Experience with value-based sales motion, especially through MEDDPPICC and Command of the Message Knowledge of big data technologies (Spark, PySpark), data lakes, and MPP databases (Teradata, Vertica, Netezza) Familiarity with version control tools such as Git, and experience with Python Degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent practical experience) Experience using Salesforce At Matillion, we are committed to providing compensation in line with market standards based on the role, job family, job level, and country. This role’s estimated annual salary range is $125,272 - $187908. Because this role is eligible for variable pay in the form of sales commissions, your total annual on-target annual earnings will be between $178,960 - $268,440. The final salary will be based on your relevant skills, experience, and qualifications demonstrated in the hiring process.
