Contract Associate, Venture Intelligence
About Altis
Altis is a venture intelligence platform that helps investors make faster, better decisions on Series A/B/C companies. We conduct deep primary research (expert interviews with customers, competitors, and industry specialists) to build the analysis that drives investment committee decisions.
We're backed by Primary Venture Partners, co-founded by a Midas-list investor, and building a structured analyst program modeled on the intellectual range and apprenticeship found at top management consulting firms.
About The Role
You'll join a research pod and contribute immediately: conducting expert interviews, building company analyses, synthesizing primary research findings, and helping produce the reports that drive investment committee decisions on Series A+ companies.
This is a contract role designed as a pipeline to permanent positions. We're building the team fast, and this structure lets both sides evaluate fit before making long-term commitments. Associates who demonstrate strong judgment and research instincts move into full-time roles with equity.
You'll work alongside Sector Leads and report to our Founding CRO (ex-McKinsey, ex-Growth Investor). The CEO is a former BCG Managing Director & Partner.
About You
1-7 years of professional experience in consulting, banking, expert networks, equity research, or a related analytical field
A strong quantitative and analytical foundation. You're the person who digs until the answer makes sense
Genuine curiosity about AI, technology, and what makes companies succeed or fail
Experience with primary research — you've talked to customers, competitors, or experts to build a view, not just pulled data from a terminal
Clear communication skills. You can synthesize complexity into something a decision-maker can act on
An itch to get into venture and willing to prove it
You Want
$10,000 - $24,000 monthly compensation (based on experience)
New York City, in-office 4-5 days/week (27th and Park Ave)
A clear path to a full-time role with pre-Series A equity (vesting begins during contract period)
Founding-stage team — your work shapes the product, the methodology, and the company
The intellectual challenge of consulting without the travel grind
Sector Lead - AI
About Altis
Altis is a venture intelligence platform that helps investors make faster, better decisions on Series A/B/C companies. We identify the key debates that should drive an investment committee decision, then build out the bull and bear cases through primary research: interviews with customers, competitors, former employees, and domain experts.
We're backed by Primary Venture Partners, co-founded by a Midas-list investor, and building the team that will define how venture diligence gets done.
About The Role
You'll own AI as a sector end-to-end. That means defining the questions that matter for a given company, designing the research approach, conducting expert interviews, and synthesizing findings into work that directly shapes investment decisions. You'll also help build the methodology and playbook. This isn't a mature practice you're joining. It's one you're creating.
You'll lead a pod of 3-5+ junior team members and report to our Founding CRO (ex-McKinsey, ex-Growth Investor). The CEO is a former BCG Managing Director & Partner with nearly 12 years leading commercial transformations and due diligence for public and private investors.
You Want
4-7 years of experience, with meaningful time in management consulting (MBB or equivalent) at the EM/PL level or above (consulting track)
Led commercial due diligence, market assessments, or investment evaluations, and you were good at it
Genuine curiosity about AI companies and the technology reshaping how businesses compete. You follow the space because you find it interesting, not because someone staffed you on it.
Loved the intellectual rigor of consulting (the problem-solving, the structured thinking, the team dynamic) but are excited to get rid of the travel grind, the client fire drills, the projects in industries you didn't care about
Taken pride in using primary research (talking to customers, competitors, and experts) to uncover something non-obvious and impactful
Had an itch to build something, not execute a playbook someone else wrote
You want
$225K - $275K base compensation
Significant pre-Series A equity (restricted stock — the most favorable structure for early employees)
100% employer-paid benefits
New York City, in-office 4-5 days/week (27th and Park Ave)
Founding-stage team — your work shapes the product, the methodology, and the company
Paid Intern, Venture Intelligence Program
This is a summer internship designed to give you real exposure to venture capital research — not coffee runs and data entry. You'll work alongside Sector Leads and Analysts on active diligence: conducting interviews, synthesizing findings, building company profiles, and contributing to reports that go directly to investors evaluating Series A+ investments.
Strong performers will be considered for full-time roles in our 2-year Analyst program. You'll leave with a genuine understanding of how investment decisions get made, a network of industry contacts, and work product you can point to.
You'll be mentored by Sector Leads and a Founding CRO (ex-McKinsey, ex-Growth Investor). The CEO is a former BCG Managing Director & Partner. You won't be filing TPS reports. You'll work directly with senior people who've led diligence at the top firms.
About You
Currently pursuing an undergraduate or MBA degree, with a strong academic record
A quantitative and analytical foundation. You're the person who digs until the answer makes sense.
Genuine curiosity about AI, technology, and what makes companies succeed or fail
An appetite for the things that make consulting and banking attractive (intellectual challenge, structured mentorship, working on high-stakes problems) — and you're exploring whether venture is where you want to build a career
Clear communication skills. You can synthesize complexity into something a decision-maker can act on.
You want
$8,333 - $13,333 monthly compensation
New York City, in-office 5 days/week (27th and Park Ave)
Real work on real deals — not a program where interns get a sanitized version of the job
A direct path to a full-time offer for top performers
Exposure to how venture capital investment decisions actually get made
