is building the essential technology infrastructure for the everyday economy: the businesses, organizations, and services that make real life work, and that mainstream tech has largely left behind. We acquire, operate, and grow vertical market software companies — niche, founder-built businesses serving industries that are often overlooked and too profitable to ignore.
Our model is simple: we seek out founders who have built their business by spending years understanding their market and prioritizing their customers' specific needs. We buy great businesses, invest in their continued growth, and hold them permanently — accelerating that growth with an AI-native platform built specifically for vertical market software. No mandate to cut, flip, or roll up into something unrecognizable.
We are not a financial firm. We are technology entrepreneurs and operators who believe the most important businesses in the world are already running quietly in industries most people never think about. Our job is to find them, support the people who built them, and make them better.
Beacon is backed by a diverse base of investors, with $550M+ raised to date, including General Catalyst, Lightspeed, D1 Capital, CPMG, the family offices of the founders of Stripe, DoorDash, and Ramp, and evergreen funds built for the long game.

About the Role
Fresh off a $225M Series C, we're acquiring companies at pace and the hiring demand that comes with it is real. We're looking for a Senior Technical Recruiter who can operate at that velocity without sacrificing quality. You'll own full-cycle recruiting across engineering and product for Beacon and its portfolio companies, working directly with technical leaders to build teams in markets like San Francisco, Toronto, and New York.
What You'll Be Doing
Full-cycle ownership. From first outreach to signed offer across engineering, product, and adjacent functions. You run the process; you don't hand it off.
Strategic partnership. You'll work directly with engineering and product leaders to build hiring strategies that fit today's market, not last year's playbook.
Creative sourcing. LinkedIn is the floor, not the ceiling. GitHub, niche communities, your own network, and AI-assisted tooling are all in play.
Operational rigor. We use Ashby and we take our data seriously. Clean pipelines, tight feedback loops, and disciplined process are non-negotiable.
The close. You know how to navigate comp conversations and competing offers without losing your composure or your candidate.
Brand building. You'll help tell the Beacon story in the markets we're hiring in and make candidates want to be part of what we're building.
What You Bring
7+ years of technical recruiting experience with a track record of senior engineering hires that you're proud of.
Comfort in high-growth, fast-changing environments. You don't need a manual; you're happy to write one.
Technical fluency. You can calibrate on engineering talent without needing a hiring manager to hold your hand.
Communication that's polished and authentic, whether it's cold outreach or a high-stakes offer call.
Self-direction. You know how to prioritize, manage your time, and deliver without being supervised.
Hands-on experience with Ashby or Greenhouse.
BA/BS degree.
Bonus Points
You've recruited PMs and understand what makes a great one.
Agency background. You know what urgency feels like and you don't need to manufacture it.
An active Bay Area network in the startup/tech ecosystem.
You've built interview rubrics and calibration processes from scratch because you believe in a fair, data-driven bar.

About the Role
Beacon Software acquires and grows vertical market software companies across North America. We move fast, run lean, and hold our teams to a high bar. We're looking for a Technical Sourcer who thrives on the hunt — someone who can build deep, high-quality pipelines of engineering and product talent before a req even opens, and who brings both craft and creativity to outreach.
This role sits at the top of the funnel and owns it completely. You'll partner closely with our recruiters and hiring managers to translate role profiles into targeted sourcing strategies, and you'll be the reason Beacon's pipelines are never empty.
What You'll Be Doing
Build and maintain proactive talent pipelines for engineering and product roles across Beacon's portfolio, with a focus on Toronto, San Francisco, and New York markets.
Develop and execute multi-channel sourcing strategies using LinkedIn Recruiter, GitHub, niche communities, referral networks, and AI-assisted tools.
Write sharp, personalized outreach that earns replies from passive candidates who aren't looking, and represents Beacon well in every touchpoint.
Partner with the recruiting team on role calibration: understanding what "good" looks like for each search and filtering accordingly before names hit the recruiter's desk.
Track sourcing metrics and iterate including open rates, response rates, pipeline conversion - and use the data to sharpen your approach.
Maintain clean, accurate candidate records in Ashby and ensure pipeline visibility across active searches.
Stay current on the competitive landscape: who's hiring, who's laying off, where senior engineers are moving, and what messaging is cutting through the noise.
What You Bring
2–5 years of experience in technical sourcing or recruiting, with a clear focus on engineering talent.
Hands-on proficiency with LinkedIn Recruiter; experience with AI sourcing tools, familiarity with GitHub, advanced Boolean search knowledge, and sourcing across communities and forums.
Comfort engaging technical candidates: you don't need to be an engineer, but you can hold a credible conversation pitching Beacon roles, get candidates excited, and have strong intuition for what “good to great” is.
Strong written communication; your outreach is specific, human, and doesn't read like a template.
Detail-oriented and self-directed; you manage your own pipeline hygiene, flag blockers early, and don't need hand-holding to stay organized.
Familiarity with ATS or sourcing platforms; a mix of Ashby, Greenhouse, Gem and JuiceBox preferred.
Bachelor's degree required.
Bonus Points
Experience sourcing Product Managers in addition to engineering talent.
Agency background — you know how to move fast and deliver volume without sacrificing quality.
A developing network in the Toronto, SF, or NYC tech ecosystems.
Experience using AI tools to accelerate sourcing workflows (research, personalization, pipeline mapping).
