About Landeed
Two thirds of Indian court cases are land related. Our solution to this is the Landeed, India's fastest and most comprehensive title search engine. We are now actively growing our engineering and product teams to expand our title coverage to more Indian states and build an enterprise platform for government bodies and corporates alike.
About the role
About the role:
We are looking for a Senior GIS Engineer who can go beyond map creation and take ownership of GIS data pipelines across multiple Indian states. At Landeed, maps are not visual artifacts — they are structured intelligence layers that power title diligence, compliance checks, and legal workflows. This role requires someone who understands GIS from a data, database, and automation perspective — not just spatial visualization. You will work closely with engineering and product teams to expand, clean, structure, and automate GIS datasets for urban, peri-urban, and rural areas across India.
Responsibilities:
1. GIS Data Engineering & Database Management
Structure and manage GIS datasets within databases
Ensure spatial data is optimized, queryable, and scalable
Work with backend teams to integrate GIS layers into product workflows
Maintain data integrity across multiple state-level datasets
2. Data Analysis & Usability Assessment
Analyze GIS datasets from a business and product lens
Evaluate completeness, accuracy, and usability of data
Identify missing attributes, inconsistencies, and structural issues
Recommend improvements for better downstream usage
3. Data Cleaning & Preparation
Clean raw GIS datasets for production use
Standardize formats, projections, and attribute schemas
Ensure data consistency across different states and sources
Prepare GIS data for integration into APIs and dashboards
4. Website Parsing & Data Structuring
Understand how government and agency GIS data is structured online
Parse portals and structured map repositories
Reverse-engineer data schemas when required
5. Scraping & Automation
Use scraping frameworks to collect GIS data programmatically
Build automation pipelines to keep datasets updated
Monitor changes in government portals and ensure dataset freshness
Work with engineering team on scalable ingestion workflows
6. Spatial Analysis
Perform spatial queries and advanced spatial analysis
Build overlays, zoning layers, and compliance intelligence
Support internal teams with custom spatial data requests
Requirements
3–6 years of relevant GIS experience
Strong hands-on experience with ArcGIS, QGIS, Mapbox, or similar tools
Experience handling GIS data within databases (PostGIS preferred)
Strong understanding of spatial data structures and coordinate systems
Experience in data cleaning, transformation, and schema standardization
Exposure to web scraping and automation tools (Python preferred)
Strong analytical mindset — able to evaluate data quality and usability
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Geomatics, GIS, Computer Science, or related field
Strong written and verbal communication skills
What We’re Looking For
We are not just looking for someone who can “draw maps.” We want someone who:
Thinks like a data engineer
Understands GIS as infrastructure
Can evaluate datasets from a business lens
Is comfortable working with automation and scraping
Takes ownership of data quality
Working Style and Principles:
At Landeed, we value collaboration, work ethics, transparency, and continuous learning. We believe in empowering our team members to take ownership of their work and strive for excellence.

Technology
Backend
Rust, gRPC, and PostgreSQL on AWS. We're building a next-generation API, prioritising good tools for getting code from local to prod with minimal red tape and review. We're also working on new tools like a dynamically created DAG of automated workflows that will pick apart and analyze ownership history, making the information immediately available to the user.
Frontend
React Native, Redux, CodePush, Detox, and RNTL. React Native has allowed us to prototype extremely quickly, taking an average of 3 weeks to release entirely new apps. We focus on ease of use and quick iteration, gathering feedback from users and pushing updates immediately with codepush. We've also developed a custom framework for forced updates when breaking changes are required.
Interview Process
Interviews will be conducted over two rounds, first one would be technical and second
would be culture.
