ABOUT THE ROLE
*Open to hiring remote across the US — preferable to have someone near an office in NYC or San Francisco.
This is a rare PM role with true vertical ownership across the full product lifecycle; from early-stage research and pre-training through to post-training and UX buildout through to GTM strategy and pricing - giving the right person a GM-like mandate to drive product decisions end-to-end in a way that's unique for a company of our scale.
We’re looking for a passionate Product Manager to help us develop cutting-edge AI tools. This role is for someone who has a combination of strong technical or ML background and experience in product management. You have the ability to take the state-of-the-art AI systems our research team builds and turn them into impactful tools for our customers.
You’ll deeply understand what users want, what’s possible to build, and what’s strategic for our business. You’ll be a bridge between our users and our internal teams so we ship products that have the most value for Runway’s creators.
This role is a fundamental and critical part of the team for a market-defining company in its early stages.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Work alongside our research team to define new AI applications that solve customer needs and drive business value
- Collaborate closely with engineering and design to productize research and continuously improve existing tools
- Define and analyze metrics, talk with users weekly, and conduct A/B tests to discover use cases, validate pain points, and prioritize features
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
- 1+ years of direct experience with SQL, python, code generation tools, and version control best practices
- 4+ years of product management experience
- Familiarity with the current state-of-the-art ML capabilities and ML products
- Experience working with fast-moving teams and building products from scratch
- Passion for seeing research through from initial conception to ultimate application
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills

ABOUT THE ROLE
We’re looking for Research Engineers to contribute to our ambitious research agenda spanning multimodal foundational models, interactive world modeling, and real-time generation. This role is highly collaborative and will touch many aspects of our broader research efforts, taking a full-stack approach across pretraining, SFT/RL post-training techniques, evaluation, and bringing models to production.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Run experiments to teach world models new behaviors — action following, scene manipulation, camera control, and beyond
- Develop and test new data strategies, architectural variants, and training techniques
- Design evaluations that measure model capabilities, and use them to drive model improvement
- Take features from research prototype to production, collaborating with product and creative teams to address application-specific gaps
- Contribute across the entire stack (data pipelines, modeling, production inference) to move projects forward
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
- 4+ years of experience in machine learning research or engineering
- Familiarity with the architecture, training, and inference of large-scale multimodal generative models
- Experience building robust data pipelines for pretraining and post-training
- Comfort working across the full research stack: data, training, evaluation, and deployment
- Proficiency with at least one ML framework (e.g. PyTorch, JAX) and experience with distributed training at scale
- Ability to context-switch quickly and drive projects forward in a fast-moving, ambiguous environment

ABOUT THE ROLE
Building general world models — systems that understand and simulate reality across tasks, modalities, and domains — demands training data that is as rich and varied as the real world itself. We’re looking for Research Engineers to own the data behind our models: what they learn from, how well they learn it, and what new capabilities that unlocks. You will design datasets, run modeling experiments, and build the infrastructure to generate and curate data at scale — directly shaping what our models can do, with applications ranging from creative tools to robotics.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Design multimodal, multitask datasets that teach world models new capabilities — deciding what data to collect, generate, or curate and measuring its effect on model behavior
- Run controlled training experiments to understand how data composition drives model performance across tasks and domains
- Build and operate large-scale pipelines for synthetic data generation, filtering, and quality control
- Define evaluations and benchmarks that measure whether our models are actually improving at the things that matter
- Partner with product and creative teams to translate target behaviors and capabilities into concrete data strategies
WHAT YOU'LL NEED
- 4+ years of experience in machine learning, bonus points for data-centric approaches
- Experience with large multimodal datasets and generative models (video, image, or multimodal)
- Deep intuition for how data composition and quality translate to model capabilities
- Comfort working across the full research stack: data analysis, dataset creation, model training, evaluation, and back again
- Proficiency with at least one ML framework (e.g. PyTorch, JAX) and distributed compute tools (e.g. Ray, Kubernetes)

ABOUT THE ROLE
We’re looking for Applied Research Scientists to help us develop cutting-edge computer vision and generative models to power our creative tools. We are looking for candidates with a strong background building impactful and novel machine learning projects, strong software engineering skills, and who are deeply interested in seeing their research materialize in novel user interfaces for creative tasks.
This is a cross-functional team that requires strong communication and collaboration skills; you will have a chance to work with our backend team to help bring your research models to production, and with our design and frontend engineering team to make sure that your machine learning models work in harmony with the user interfaces that interact with them.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
- 4+ years of relevant engineering or research experience in machine learning, computer vision and/or graphics
- Expertise with programming such as Python, C++, CUDA, and deep learning frameworks such as TensorFlow and PyTorch. Very strong programming skills and ability to write clean and maintainable research code

ABOUT THE ROLE
We’re looking for a Research Manager to help us manage and grow Runway’s Applied ML Research team to create cutting-edge machine learning tools for AI-based content creation. This person should have a strong research background in computer vision, and be deeply interested in managing and enabling other researchers to develop state-of-the-art research.
