The Role
We are hiring a Postdoctoral Clinical Research Scientist to build the evidence base for AI-delivered mental health care. Reporting to the Head of Research, you will design and run the studies that tell us whether Ash is safe, whether it works, and where it needs to get better, then publish what we learn.
This is a fixed-term role of one to two years, based in New York City (hybrid), with potential to convert. If you're interested in pursuing psychology licensure in New York, we'll support you in getting there too.
The field is moving faster than the literature. Your job is to make sure our science stays ahead of it: to invent evaluation methods where none exist yet, to run rigorous studies on a product that ships weekly, and to work shoulder to shoulder with product, engineering, and machine learning so that what you find actually changes what we build.
Key responsibilities
Design, run, and analyze clinical studies on AI-based mental health tools: RCTs, observational studies, product-embedded experiments, and HEOR studies assessing cost-effectiveness and healthcare utilization impact.
Build and validate novel evaluation methods for conversational AI quality and safety, including LLM-as-judge frameworks for scoring clinical fidelity, empathy, and risk at scale.
Lead manuscript preparation for peer-reviewed journals and represent our research at conferences.
Collaborate across clinical, product, engineering, legal, and policy to make sure our research is both rigorous and actionable, and that findings reach the people who can act on them.
Translate what we learn into sharper measurement: what we track, how we define outcomes, and what evidence we need next.
About you
You have a PhD in Clinical Psychology or a related field.
You have a strong track record designing and executing clinical research, with solid grounding in methodology, language data analysis, psychometrics, and statistical analysis (R, Python, or similar).
You have a publication record in peer-reviewed journals.
You're familiar with evidence-based psychotherapy frameworks and clinical outcome measurement.
Experience with digital health, telehealth, or AI/ML applications in clinical care is a strong plus.
You're a strong communicator who can translate clinical findings for non-clinical audiences without losing the nuance that matters.
You're comfortable working fast and iteratively, in a field where the research has to pull ahead of the technology rather than trail behind it.
You have genuine conviction about the mission. This work only matters if the people doing it believe it does.

Our AI/ML-enabled platforms integrate and scale data to rapidly discover novel biological insights, identify new targets and drugs, and redefine complex diseases. To enable this vision, we are seeking a Director (or Senior Director) of Translational Medicine and Diagnostics.
This role is an opportunity to directly improve patients' lives by leading translational medicine across our three therapeutic areas — neurology/neurodegeneration, metabolism/cardiovascular, and ophthalmology — and by making clinical trials more efficient and beneficial for patients and drug developers through AI/ML and innovative translational strategies.
Reporting directly to the Chief Medical Officer, you will lead the translational medicine function at insitro, supporting the development of multiple therapeutics — biologics, oligonucleotides, and small molecules — along with multimodal biomarkers and diagnostics. Our target starting salary for successful US-based applicants for this role is $224,000 - $299,000. To determine starting pay, we consider multiple job-related factors including a candidate's skills, education and experience, market demand, business needs, and internal parity. THE ROLE
You will develop the computational methods that make AI inference run efficiently on Normal's thermodynamic hardware. The core challenge is not adapting standard GPU kernels to a new chip. It is rethinking how operations like attention, memory access, and long-context decoding behave when the underlying substrate uses stochastic analog computation in memory rather than conventional digital logic.
Normal's ASICs run the heaviest operations of large model inference inside memory itself. Your job is to develop the algorithms that exploit this natively: understand what transformer and diffusion workloads are well-suited to stochastic analog execution, design numerical methods that map onto the hardware's physical dynamics, and validate them against real silicon or high-fidelity simulation.
This is a co-design role. The hardware and the algorithms are developed in parallel, which means you will influence architectural decisions, not just implement against a fixed specification. The strongest candidates have a deep understanding of both large model inference and the mathematics of stochastic systems, and have built systems that run on real hardware, not just in theory.
WHAT YOU WILL OWN
- Algorithm Development: Develop algorithms for transformer inference workloads running on stochastic analog processing-with-memory hardware.
- Software/Hardware Co-Design: Work directly with hardware and architecture teams to shape what the chip can and should compute natively.

About the Role
We’re looking for an AI Research Scientist to advance the methodological frontier of AI in healthcare. This role is ideal for someone who has demonstrated strong research taste, deep technical foundations, and the ability to turn open-ended problems into rigorous scientific contributions.

We are building a higher education researcher motion that helps funded labs adopt OpenAI across core research workflows. This role will develop relationships with principal investigators, researchers, research software engineers, research computing teams, and university technology leaders, then translate high-value use cases into sustained Pro, Codex, API, and ChatGPT Edu usage.
This is a hybrid business development and program management role. You will identify and qualify priority labs, design phased access and fellows programs, run pilots, remove technical and institutional blockers, and create repeatable paths from individual researchers to lab- and institution-level adoption. Additionally, this role will launch and manage a community of researchers with events, communications and support.
In this role, you will:
Build a pipeline of funded labs, research centers, and technical champions at priority R1 universities; qualify opportunities based on workflow value, funding path, influence, and expansion potential.

We are looking for a Senior Algorithm Scientist to develop and validate the next generation of health sensing algorithms at Oura. Health sensing algorithms underpin the suite of features we offer to our members. As an algorithm scientist, your work will have a wide ranging impact and provide the foundation for new insights delivered to millions of Oura members around the world.
What you will do:
Contribute to the research, development and deployment of signal processing and machine learning algorithms for Oura features/products based on a range of sensing modalities
Conduct early stage exploratory research to identify and characterize new potential sensing features and functionality. Develop proof-of-concept features and work with a cross-functional team to take these from proof-of-concept to a commercialized product
Design and support internal and external data collection studies to develop, evaluate, benchmark and improve new biomarkers and algorithms and to evaluate the signal quality of hardware and firmware prototypes
Develop and maintain internal signal evaluation tools and libraries to help Oura’s hardware and firmware teams optimize current and next-generation products
Document, summarize, and present data analysis and algorithm performance results with concrete actionable recommendations for a broad audience on a regular basis
Support the incorporation of new sensing modalities into next-generation hardware by running feasibility studies and providing scientifically-backed guidance to other teams (hardware, firmware, product, etc)
Coordinate with cross-functional teams and overseas stakeholders
Requirements
We would love to have you on our team if you have:
PhD degree with three years of work experience OR MSc degree with five years of work experience in biomedical engineering, electrical engineering, neural engineering or a related field
3+ years of solid programming skills in Python and experience with code collaboration tools (git, peer review, etc)
Experience with signal processing methods and time-series analysis (FIR/IIR filters, Kalman filtering, adaptive filtering, stochastic processes, etc)
Experience with biosignal sensing and wearable hardware (including hardware prototypes) is a plus
A pragmatic can-do attitude and delivery-focused mindset: you can move quickly and prioritize effectively
Flexible schedule and good asynchronous communication skills to work with Oura’s Finnish teams (early morning meetings two to three times a week)
This role is based in San Fransisco, with at least three days in office.

- Lead an independent, high-impact research agenda on large language models and agentic systems, owning projects from early hypothesis through model training, evaluation, and production deployment
- Design and execute large-scale post-training experiments using supervised fine-tuning, reinforcement learning from human feedback (RLHF), RLAIF, DPO, and emerging alignment techniques — with a focus on improving multi-step reasoning, planning, and tool use in enterprise agentic workflows
- Build novel evaluation benchmarks and methodologies that push beyond existing limitations, establishing rigorous measures for how well models perform on complex, real-world enterprise tasks
- Develop scalable data synthesis and curation pipelines that generate the high-quality training signal driving model improvement — including LLM-as-judge frameworks, synthetic data generation, and adversarial dataset construction

⭐️ WHAT YOU NEED
- 7+ years of hands-on ML research experience, with deep expertise in large language model pre-training and post-training — you've trained models at scale, debugged distributed jobs, and shipped improvements that made a measurable difference
- A Ph.D. in Computer Science, Machine Learning, NLP, or a related field — or equivalent demonstrated research experience with a strong portfolio of independent, published work
- Expert-level knowledge of post-training methods including SFT, RLHF, RLAIF, DPO, GRPO, and related alignment and reasoning techniques, with a track record of applying them to real, production-grade systems
- Strong command of Python and PyTorch (or JAX), with the engineering depth to build and scale training pipelines, evaluation infrastructure, and data synthesis workflows yourself — not just direct others to do it
- A meaningful publication record at competitive ML/AI venues (NeurIPS, ICLR, ICML, ACL, EMNLP, or equivalent), evidencing your ability to originate ideas and execute on a multi-month research agenda independently
- Hands-on experience designing or evaluating agentic systems — models that plan, reason through multi-step tasks, use tools, and recover gracefully from errors — with a nuanced understanding of where they break and how to fix them
