Here at Ambience, we never set out to be just another scribe. We’re building the AI intelligence platform that restores humanity to healthcare and drives meaningful ROI for health systems across the country.
Our technology helps providers focus on delivering great care by removing the administrative burden that pulls them away from patients and away from their most impactful work. Ambience delivers real-time coding-aware documentation and clinical workflow support across ambulatory, emergency and inpatient settings at the top health systems in North America.
Our teams operate relentlessly with extreme ownership to build the best solutions for our health system partners. We value candor, positivity and deep thought — and we expect a lot from each other because we know the problems we’re solving truly matter.
Ambience was ranked #1 for Improving the Clinician Experience in the KLAS Research Emerging Solutions Top 20 Report, recognized by Fast Company as one of the Next Big Things in Tech, named one of the best AI companies in healthcare by Inc., and selected as a LinkedIn Top Startup in 2024 and 2025. We’re backed by Oak HC/FT, Andreessen Horowitz (a16z), OpenAI Startup Fund, and Kleiner Perkins — and we’re just getting started.
The Role:
Ambience is building AI systems that help clinicians deliver better care. At the heart of that work is our clinical AI team: physicians and other clinicians who build, evaluate, and refine the AI that generates clinical documentation used by health systems across the country.
Clinical AI is a new discipline. There is no playbook for it, and the people doing it well combine clinical judgment, technical skill, and the ability to work through ambiguous, fast-changing problems. Our team has grown to the point where it needs more leaders.
We're looking for a Clinical AI Manager to lead a group of clinical AI ICs across two of our product pods. This is a leadership role, but not a purely managerial one: you'll ramp as an IC first, keep doing hands-on work in your pods, and serve as a technical and clinical sounding board for your team.
Our leadership roles are hybrid in our SF office, 3x/week.
What You'll Do:
Team Leadership: Manage and develop ~5 clinical AI ICs across two pods, growing clinicians who are new to tech into strong operators.
Domain Ownership: Own the clinical AI roadmap, quality, and delivery for your pods.
Hands-On IC Work: Carry your own projects within your pods: prompting, evaluation design, error analysis, and clinical content work.
Technical Guidance: Review your team's work, bounce ideas around, and help ICs reason through evaluation and prompting decisions.
Clinical Quality: Bring physician judgment to what our AI produces and represent the clinical perspective with product, engineering, and customers.
Coaching: Help your ICs build strong execution habits: project planning, timelines, and proactive communication.
Hiring: Interview and evaluate candidates as we grow the team.
Who You Are:
Physician (MD or DO) who completed residency and has practiced clinically.
3-5+ years at a tech company after (or alongside) clinical practice.
Has managed formal direct reports at a tech company.
Technically fluent: some coding ability, comfortable with AI concepts, and able to understand and review what your ICs are building. Hands-on LLM product experience (prompting, evaluations, error analysis) is a strong plus.
Strong executor: reliable, organized, and proactive. People trust you to own things end to end.
Comfortable with ambiguity: our problems are fast-changing and rarely arrive well-defined.
Startup experience is a plus; excitement for the pace and ownership of one is a must.
Willing to work from our San Francisco office 3x/week.
Pay Transparency We offer a base compensation range of approximately $275,000–$325,000 per year, exclusive of equity. This intentionally broad range provides flexibility for candidates to tailor their cash and equity mix based on individual preferences. Our compensation philosophy prioritizes meaningful equity grants, enabling team members to share directly in the impact they help create.
Are you outside of the range? We encourage you to still apply: we take an individualized approach to ensure that compensation accounts for all of the life factors that matter for each candidate.

We’re backed by Oak HC/FT, Andreessen Horowitz (a16z), OpenAI Startup Fund, and Kleiner Perkins — and we’re just getting started.
The Role:
Ambience Healthcare is building clinical AI that clinicians actually trust, and we are growing fast. The People function is small and high-leverage, and this is our first dedicated HR Business Partner seat, which means you will build it rather than inherit it. Reporting to the Head of People, you will be a true partner to the business: the everyday point person for our people managers, the owner of how we build manager capability, and the steward of how goals get set and run across the company. We are looking for a problem solver who builds simple, direct solutions, removes friction, and helps leaders make better calls. This is a senior individual contributor role.
Preferred: Willing to work 3 days/week from the San Francisco office.
What You'll Do:
Partner with people managers. Serve as the named point person for our people-leader population, running a set cadence through high-change moments: goal setting, reviews, review writing, engagement, and survey follow-up.
Build and deploy manager training. Own the annual training calendar, content, and deployment on top of our Manager Standards program, including first-time manager training and an AI curriculum rolled out across the org.
Steward goals and OKRs. Own individual key results, audit goal quality every cycle, and build the tooling to see goal health so that teams learn to self-run good goals rather than depend on chasing.
Navigate tough employee decisions. Coach leaders through routine employee relations and the trade-offs of hard calls, and partner on org design, leveling, and headcount for your coverage area in tight alignment with the Head of People.
Drive operational efficiency. Automate the recurring People operating rhythm using our existing tools and AI, from goal-health tracking to coverage cadence and survey follow-up.
Who You Are:
A partner first. You start from what the business is trying to achieve and shape the people work around it. You embed with leaders rather than operate as a support desk.
A problem solver. You see a problem and solve it. You build simple, direct solutions instead of heavy process, and you spot patterns early enough to keep small issues from becoming big ones.
A critical thinker who delivers through ambiguity. You structure messy problems and ship in phases rather than waiting for perfect clarity.
A trusted advisor on hard calls. You can sit in a difficult employee conversation and help a leader think clearly through the trade-offs, and you carry confidential and sensitive matters with sound judgment.
Able to influence without authority. You earn trust fast and move experienced, strong-willed leaders without relying on positional power.
A smart generalist and builder. You are fluent across business partnering, employee relations, performance, L&D, org design, and the fundamentals of compensation, with 6+ years of progressive HR experience including direct HRBP and manager-coaching work. You default to systems over heroics and build things that outlast you. This role has no direct reports.
Pay Transparency:
We offer a base compensation range that varies by location tier, exclusive of equity:
Tier 1: approximately $139,200 - $182,700 per year
Tier 2: approximately $132,240 - $173,565 per year
Tier 3: approximately $125,280 - $164,430 per year
These intentionally broad ranges provide flexibility for candidates to tailor their cash and equity mix based on individual preferences. Our compensation philosophy prioritizes meaningful equity grants, enabling team members to share directly in the impact they help create.
Are you outside of the range? We encourage you to still apply: we take an individualized approach to ensure that compensation accounts for all of the life factors that matter for each candidate.

The Role
As our Inpatient Clinical Workflows PM, you'll own the clinician-facing features at the heart of Ambience's inpatient platform - the documentation and chart intelligence capabilities that define the core product experience for hospitalists and specialists.
You'll be accountable for two product pillars. First, Inpatient Scribe - the documentation experience purpose-built for inpatient workflows, from admission through discharge, handling the full complexity of rounding, handoffs, multidisciplinary coordination, and discharge summaries. Second, Chart Summarization (Patient Summary & Chart Chat) - the AI-powered chart intelligence layer that enables inpatient clinicians to rapidly synthesize patient history, surface relevant clinical context, and interact conversationally with the medical record.
Done well, this role makes Ambience indispensable for inpatient clinicians - transforming how hospitalists and specialists document, synthesize, and act on clinical information across the entire care episode.
This is a Senior PM IC role - you'll work closely with engineering, design, Clinical AI/ML, and GTM teams.
We're a hybrid company headquartered in San Francisco. This role requires being in the SF office 3x/week.
What You'll Own
Inpatient Scribe
Define and execute the Inpatient Scribe roadmap for hospitalists and specialists, grounded in deep understanding of inpatient documentation workflows, rounding patterns, and EHR integration requirements.
Deliver a documentation experience that handles the unique complexity of inpatient care: multi-encounter days, team-based rounding, procedure documentation, handoff notes, and discharge summaries.
Drive measurable clinician outcomes - time-to-chart, documentation completeness, reduced after-shift charting - and demonstrate clear ROI for hospital administrators.
Own inpatient quality metrics - accuracy, latency, note completeness, workflow completion rates - and systematically eliminate the pain points that drive support escalations or clinician drop-off.
Partner with Engineering and Clinical AI/ML to adapt ambient capture and note generation models to inpatient-specific language patterns, workflows, and note types.
Own the product vision and roadmap for Patient Summary and Chart Chat within the inpatient setting, purpose-built for hospitalists and specialists managing complex, multi-day patient episodes.
Define the summarization experience that surfaces the right clinical context at the right moment: admission summaries, problem-oriented views, medication reconciliation context, overnight event recaps, and trend analysis across the hospital stay.
Own Chart Chat as a conversational interface to the medical record - enabling natural-language questions about patient history, labs, imaging, prior encounters, and evolving clinical trajectories.
Establish rigorous evaluation frameworks for summarization accuracy, completeness, and clinical safety in the inpatient context, partnering with Clinical AI/ML and clinical advisors.
What We're Looking For
Must-Haves
3+ years of product management experience with direct ownership of a vertical product line or platform, including roadmap and end-to-end product experience.
Track record of rapidly building deep domain expertise in a complex, unfamiliar domain.
Strong technical fluency - comfort with AI/ML products, API integrations, and complex system design.
Experience driving adoption in complex enterprise environments with multi-persona buying committees.
Based in SF, available to be in the office 3x/week.
Nice-to-Haves
Healthcare or regulated-industry experience (a plus, not a requirement - we hire on scorecard competencies, not domain pedigree).
Experience with ambient AI, NLP, clinical documentation, or chart summarization technology.
Prior 0-to-1 product vertical experience.
Pay Transparency
The base compensation for this role is approximately $200,000 - $230,000 per year, excluding equity and bonus. We've built in a wide range so candidates have flexibility in how they balance cash and equity. We lean toward generous equity grants - we want the people building Ambience to share meaningfully in what they create.
If you're outside the stated range, we'd still encourage you to apply. We take an individualized approach to compensation.

About Us:
Chart Summarization - Patient Summary & Chart Chat
