Apera is an innovative, Vancouver-based company at the forefront of robotics, AI, and machine vision — recognized with the 2025 Frost & Sullivan Technology Innovation Leadership Award and the 2024 BC Tech "Company of the Year, Growth" award. We're on a mission to redefine AI-driven robotic vision.
Apera AI helps manufacturers make their factories more flexible and productive. Robots enhanced with Apera's software have 4D Vision — the ability to see and grasp objects with human-like capability. Challenging applications such as bin picking, sorting, packaging, and assembly are now open to fast, precise, and reliable automation. We work with the world's leading automotive OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers.
Our portfolio spans Vue (our 4D Vision software), Forge (a no-code simulation and AI training studio where customers build, validate, and de-risk robotic cells before any hardware is bought), and VuePod, our new turnkey, productized bin-picking cell.
The Role
We're looking for a Senior Product Manager to lead our product development function. This is a high-ownership role: you'll set the vision, strategy, and roadmap across our portfolio, from the Vue software platform to productized cells like VuePod, and act as the connective tissue between engineering, sales, marketing, and our customers. Reporting into engineering leadership, you'll turn deep customer understanding and competitive insight into the priorities that shape what we build, and make sure the business is equipped to win with it.
You'll work at the interface between a world-class engineering and applied-science team and our commercial team, on a technically rich product, with the latitude to define how product is practiced here as we grow.
Location: This role is open to remote candidates; for those based in or near Vancouver, BC, we work on-site.
What You'll Do
Own the product vision and strategy. Vision-guided robotics has historically been sold as an engineering project — a robot, a camera, an integrator, and weeks of on-site tuning. We're changing that by making it a product. You'll own the strategy and roadmap that carries this across the portfolio, from Vue to turnkey VuePod cells, deciding where we invest between new capability, deployment reliability, and ease of use.
Be the voice of the customer. Our users are manufacturing engineers, controls engineers, and operators on plant floors, not software teams. You'll spend time in plants and integrator shops, understand why a vision-guided cell wins or stalls at an automotive OEM or Tier 1 supplier, and turn pain points into requirements our R&D teams can build against.
Bridge product and the business. Automation is bought through a chain: robot OEMs, integrators, and end customers each need a different story. You'll sit between the product team and the commercial team as the translator both trust, turning field signals into roadmap priorities, shaping positioning and messaging, and arming the commercial team to expand sales.
Shape the physical product. Our products live in the physical world: VuePort cameras, the VueController, and complete VuePod cells with enclosures, compute, and gripper interfaces. You'll define hardware requirements and the business case behind them, weigh cost, supply chain, and manufacturability trade-offs with engineering and our manufacturing partners, and shape the hardware lineup that supports both Vue deployments and turnkey cells.
Raise the bar on quality and experience. The difference between a demo and a product is what happens in week 30 on night shift. You'll pressure-test features against how operators and maintenance teams actually work, drive toward customers going from purchase to first pick on their own, and own the documentation and training content that lets them succeed long after commissioning.
Drive how we package, price, and launch. We sell software licenses, camera hardware, simulation seats in Forge, and complete cells, into buyers who think in CapEx, payback periods, and cost per pick. You'll decide how we package and price across that mix, protect margin as we scale from projects to products, and lead launches across both the platform and our productized offerings.
Define what's next. You'll track the state of the art in AI and machine vision, decide which capabilities belong in the product, and turn them into solutions for problems that were out of reach a year ago. Imagine products that don't exist yet, then ground that vision in what's working in the field.
What You Bring
5+ years in product management with physical products: robotics, industrial automation, machine vision, or other hardware-and-software systems.
A track record of owning complex technical products from requirements through launch, and enough technical depth to earn the trust of engineers and applied scientists in roadmap debates.
Experience turning market needs and business strategy into roadmaps, including early-access programs and coordinated handoffs to marketing and sales.
Experience with, or a demonstrated appetite for, pricing, packaging, and business-case ownership across hardware and software offerings.
Comfortable in front of customers, from executive briefings to plant floors, and willing to travel to see the product where it lives.
Strong analytical instincts and fluency with data to inform decisions and measure whether what shipped is working.
Why Apera?
Purpose with impact: You're not building for someday. You're shaping a product that's improving production on real factory floors right now.
High ownership: You'll define how product is practiced at Apera as we grow, across both software and physical product.
What do you get:
The salary range for this role is $150,000–$190,000 per year. Final compensation will be based on experience, skills, and qualifications, as well as internal equity and market alignment, to ensure a competitive and fair offer.
Generous stock option program
Company paid extended health, and dental coverage
Career growth in a fast-growing AI and robotics company
Exposure to global manufacturing leaders and innovative customer projects
Growth at the edge: Rare, end-to-end exposure to AI, machine vision, hardware, and go-to-market — all in one role.
At Apera AI, you'll turn robotics, AI breakthroughs, software and hardware alike into products that win on the plant floor.

Our portfolio spans Vue (our 4D Vision software), Forge (a no-code simulation and AI training studio where customers build, validate, and de-risk robotic cells before any hardware is bought), and VuePod, our new turnkey, productized bin-picking cell.
Let’s End Robot Blindness. Together.
Robots can do amazing things, if they can see.
Apera AI builds breakthrough 4D Vision™ systems that give robots the clarity to handle complex, real-world tasks.
But vision alone isn’t enough, it needs a foundation that scales, updates, and performs flawlessly.
That’s where you come in.
We’re looking for a Software Development Engineer – Platform to design and build the software foundation that powers Apera’s vision-guided robotics systems.
You’ll solve complex system challenges, bridge hardware and software, and ensure every deployment — from lab to factory floor — runs with precision and reliability.
This is a systems-first role, not app development, not web services.
You’ll design, implement, and maintain deployment frameworks, provisioning tools, and hardware integration layers that make vision-driven robotics scalable and reliable.
What You’ll Actually Do
Build the backbone: Design and implement platform software in Python and C++ that automates deployment, provisioning, upgrades, and backups for distributed robotic systems.
Integrate hardware: Connect and validate vision cameras, NVIDIA GPUs, network devices, and robot controllers into a seamless, high-performance platform using Dockerized environments.
Configure the platform: Contribute to Linux (Ubuntu) system configuration, including autoinstall, cloud-init, and image management to support scalable deployments.
Automate reliability: Develop automated health checks, backup/restore processes, and upgrade workflows that keep systems running with near-zero downtime.
Empower teams: Build automation tools that reduce setup and testing time by 30% or more, accelerating deployment cycles for engineering and field teams.
Continuously improve: Pilot AI-assisted diagnostics, predictive testing, and performance profiling to enhance platform stability and developer productivity.
Collaborate cross-functionally: Partner with robotics, vision, and infrastructure engineers to ensure the Apera platform integrates seamlessly across the full technology stack.
Why This Is a Career Move (Not Just a Job)
At Apera, we don’t just give robots vision — we build the foundation that keeps that vision running reliably, anywhere in the world.
Here’s what makes this role special:
You’ll shape the core. Your code becomes the backbone for every Apera deployment, from pilot projects to global rollouts.
You’ll grow across layers. Work from Python and C++ up through Linux configuration, Docker orchestration, and GPU integration, influencing architecture and process design.
You’ll see your impact. Every improvement you ship reduces install time, boosts uptime, and helps scale AI vision to more robots worldwide.
You’ll define reliability. You’ll help set the standard for what “production-ready” means in AI-driven robotics systems.
What We’re Looking For
3+ years of experience in system-level or platform software development.
Proficiency in Python and C++, with experience building deployment or configuration tools.
Hands-on experience with Linux environments (Ubuntu preferred), Docker, and automation frameworks.
Experience integrating hardware, cameras, GPUs, robot controllers, and network interfaces — into cohesive systems.
Familiarity with Ubuntu autoinstall, cloud-init, and system imaging for scalable deployment automation.
Knowledge of DevOps principles, CI/CD pipelines, and AI-assisted testing.
Strong debugging, documentation, and cross-team collaboration skills.
Bonus Points If You Have
Experience with NVIDIA GPU workflows and high-performance Dockerized compute.
Background in camera hardware integration, PoE systems, or network peripherals.
Familiarity with SELinux, OverlayFS/SquashFS, or Linux performance profiling.
Exposure to AWS infrastructure or distributed system design.
Curiosity to explore predictive diagnostics and AI-assisted monitoring.
Why Apera?
Every employee is an owner, equity for all.
A culture of curiosity: we experiment, learn fast, and share openly.
Well-funded and scaling quickly, with a recent Series A fueling product and platform innovation.
Purpose with impact: Your work won’t sit idle, it will power robots in factories around the world.
Straightforward Compensation, Real Growth
At Apera AI, we keep compensation as clear as our technology. We hire for impact - and reward it accordingly.
Total compensation: $110,000 CAD – $180,000 CAD per year, plus equity opportunities. This is an intermediate to senior role; we place and pay based on demonstrated competency, so where you land in the range reflects the scope and impact you bring.
We tailor offers based on more than resume years - we look at your unique skills, creative problem-solving, and the impact you’ll have as we reinvent industrial automation with AI-powered vision systems. Transparency is our baseline; growth is our promise.
At Apera AI, you’ll help bring intelligent robots into production and shape the future of automation.
Apply today and be part of Apera AI’s mission to end robot blindness.

Challenging applications such as bin picking, sorting, packaging, and assembly are now open to fast, precise, and reliable automation. Our portfolio spans Vue (our 4D Vision software), Forge (a no-code simulation and AI training studio where customers build, validate, and de-risk robotic cells before any hardware is bought), and VuePod, our new turnkey, productized bin-picking cell.
Role Summary:
The Technical Sales Development Representative plays a critical role in identifying and qualifying new automation opportunities within manufacturing environments. This role sits at the intersection of sales development and early technical discovery, helping connect manufacturers facing operational challenges with vision-guided robotics solutions.
This role is based in Central or Eastern Europe and is specifically focused on supporting our European Union customers and Business Development Manager team. As such, fluency in German and English is required.
You will engage manufacturing leaders, operations managers, and automation engineers to understand their processes, identify automation opportunities, and determine whether those opportunities are worth deeper technical exploration with the Sales Team. Through a combination of structured outreach, discovery conversations, and early qualification, you will help generate high-quality opportunities that move into the technical sales pipeline.
What you’ll do
Build a steady cadence of qualified discovery meetings and plant walkthroughs for the Regional Sales Manager, Business Development Managers (BDMs) and Global Account Managers (GAMs) by identifying manufacturers with meaningful automation opportunities.
Run multi-channel outreach sequences (phone, email, LinkedIn), continuously testing messaging and targeting based on conversion data and customer feedback.
Book and host the first customer introduction call, where you will:
Introduce Apera and its vision-guided robotics technology
Understand the customer’s process and operational challenges
Ask structured discovery questions about automation needs
Identify whether the opportunity is worth deeper technical exploration.
Conduct early technical discovery conversations with manufacturing and operations leaders, gathering key details such as:
Current picking or handling process
Product variation and complexity
Facility environment
Existing automation
Potential constraints
Evaluate whether the opportunity represents a strong technical and business fit for Apera before routing it to the Sales Team.
Prepare a clear opportunity brief for the Regional Sales Manager or BDM including:
Customer context
Operational challenge
Early feasibility indicators
Stakeholders involved
Next steps
Partner with the Sales Team on account-based prospecting, identifying plants, facilities, and key stakeholders within target manufacturing companies.
Source contacts in ZoomInfo (and other systems) and maintain accurate plant, facility, and account structures in HubSpot CRM.
Build and maintain segmented prospect lists by industry, manufacturing process, and automation use case.
Rapidly learn industrial automation workflows, robotics applications, and machine vision use cases to build credibility with technical buyers.
Partner with SDRs and the VP of Marketing to develop high-performing outreach sequences, including adapting messaging for German-speaking manufacturing teams.
Supporting BDMs on Active Opportunities
Partner closely with Regional Sales Managers and BDMs on key accounts and active opportunities
Assist with quote coordination and follow-up, ensuring proposals are reviewed and progressing
Track proposal status and help schedule quote review meetings and technical follow-ups
Maintain visibility on deal progress, customer questions, and next steps
Support account expansion by identifying new plants, departments, or contacts within existing customers
Help maintain pipeline accuracy and opportunity documentation in CRM
What “good” looks like
A typical day includes a mix of outreach and customer conversations, such as:
50+ phone dials
10–25 connects
5–15 discovery conversations
50+ emails sent (mix of automated and personalized)
2–4 qualified intro meetings or discovery calls completed
Meeting quality matters more than volume, success is measured by opportunities that move into deeper technical discovery with the Sales Team.
Outreach, reply, and meeting conversion rates improve because you test messaging tied to real manufacturing problems, not generic automation outreach.
The Sales Team regularly confirms that the meetings you qualify involve real automation opportunities and the right stakeholders.
Example feedback: “These plants actually have the right use case. Let’s schedule walkthroughs while I’m visiting next month.”
You use AI and digital tools to prioritize accounts, summarize discovery conversations, and capture customer insights, while applying sound judgment to qualification decisions.
About you
Fully bilingual (German/ English).
3+ years in SDR, BDR, or sales development, preferably selling into manufacturing, automation, robotics, or technical B2B markets.
Comfortable speaking with operations managers, automation engineers, and plant leaders.
Curious about how factories work and how robotics can solve operational challenges.
Able to quickly learn and explain technical concepts at a high level.
Confident hosting customer meetings and discovery conversations.
Communicate clearly, ask thoughtful questions, and remain resilient under rejection.
Work like a scientist: test messaging, analyze results, and iterate.
Maintain disciplined daily execution: structured outreach, follow-ups, sequence management, and strong CRM hygiene.
Highly organized and capable of managing multiple sequences and opportunities simultaneously.
Experience with HubSpot and LinkedIn Sales Navigator is a strong asset.
Success Metrics
Discovery meetings completed
Percentage of intro calls that convert to qualified opportunities
Pipeline generated for BDMs and Regional Sales Managers
Quality and completeness of opportunity briefings
Speed of follow-up and CRM accuracy
Career Growth Path
