Looking to join a world-class blockchain development team? Ava Labs makes it simple to deploy high-performance solutions for Web3, led by innovations on Avalanche. The company was founded by Cornell computer scientists, who partnered with Wall Street veterans and early Web3 leaders to execute a promising vision for redefining the way people build permissionless networks. Ava Labs is redefining the way people create value with Web3. Join us as we empower people to easily and freely digitize all the world’s assets on one open, programmable blockchain platform.
Lead the engineering org building Fortary's institutional digital asset platform: custody, trading, lending, staking, and treasury management for regulated financial institutions. You'll own the architecture and technical strategy for our distributed MPC custody system, grow the team, and partner with Product, Security, and executive leadership to ship secure, resilient infrastructure at institutional scale.
This is a leadership role at the intersection of distributed systems, applied cryptography, and institutional finance. You set technical direction, you're accountable for what ships, and you build the org that ships it.
What you'll do
Lead multiple teams delivering Fortary's custody, transaction authorization, key management, wallet infrastructure, and blockchain integrations
Own the architecture and roadmap for the distributed MPC custody platform, including disaster recovery, governance, and transaction policy controls
Partner with Product, Security, BD, and executives to prioritize investments against customer, regulatory, and business needs
Support multiple deployment models: managed platform and licensed software
Ensure engineering practices meet the security, compliance, and governance bar required as Fortary moves toward chartered-institution status
Lead incident response for outages, security events, and key management scenarios
Hire, mentor, and grow engineering managers and senior engineers
Drive adoption of AI-assisted engineering across the org
What you'll bring
10+ years in software engineering, 5+ leading teams shipping production-scale secure distributed systems
Track record owning large-scale, security-critical platforms from architecture through production
Deep expertise in modern cryptography and secure key management: MPC, threshold signatures, TEEs, HSMs
Experience building cloud-native systems (Kubernetes, IaC, CI/CD, observability) with security and resilience as first-order concerns
Fluency in the compliance frameworks for regulated finance: SOC 2, ISO 27001, NIST, AML/KYC, and awareness of the SEC/CFTC/OCC/MiCA landscape
Experience across digital asset infrastructure: custody, trading, staking, treasury, and blockchain settlement
Ability to communicate credibly with executives, institutional customers, auditors, and regulators
Bonus
Experience scaling an org toward a chartered or licensed financial entity

Ava Labs is redefining the way people create value with Web3. Join us as we empower people to easily and freely digitize all the world's assets on one open, programmable blockchain platform.
We are looking for a Senior Forward Deployed Engineer to join the Forward-Deployed Engineering (FDE) function at Ava Labs. This is a senior individual contributor role sitting within the Platform Engineering Group, reporting to the Head of Forward Deployed Engineering.
FDE is a partner-facing engineering team that designs and ships bespoke solutions for a small set of high-profile regulated financial institutions deploying on Avalanche and also owns key portions of the developer tooling and SDK surface that those partners (and the broader ecosystem) build against. The team operates through deep technical engagements, not back-to-back calls: weeks of hands-on engineering between syncs is the norm.
The right person brings Avalanche stack fluency, hands-on enterprise/on-prem experience, and AI-native execution, and can translate a Director of Engineering's requirements at a regulated financial institution into a working solution without a handoff chain.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Partner Delivery
Own FDE technical delivery across a named set of institutional partners — designing the architecture across the entire Avalanche stack (node / validator setup, failover procedures, interoperability, …) from partner ask to working output
Pair with Enterprise Go-to-Market on active POCs to close the gap between commercial requirements and production-grade technical solutions
Represent Avalanche credibly in partner-facing technical settings: sit across from Directors of Engineering at financial institutions and translate bespoke asks into scoped requirements without losing the strategic frame
Engage in depth, not volume — most weeks are heads-down implementation work punctuated by focused technical syncs, not a meeting-heavy customer-success cadence
Protocol & Infrastructure
Work hands-on across the Avalanche stack: AvalancheGo, EVM, Interchain Messaging, and validator infrastructure
Design and implement solutions that operate within the constraints regulated institutions actually run: KMS/HSM remote signing, audit trails, restricted-peer networking, backup/restore procedures, firewall topologies
Respond to security assessment requests and technical diligence from institutional partners
Tooling & Developer Infrastructure
Contribute to and maintain the developer tooling and SDK surface owned by FDE. This is the same tooling that underpins partner deployments and the broader Avalanche ecosystem
Harden, extend, and document tooling driven by recurring institutional requirements, so that the next partner inherits a more capable platform than the last
Treat tooling work and partner delivery as a single loop: lessons from each engagement land back in the shared surface
Playbook Development
Identify when a one-off partner solution should become a reusable FDE artifact and drive that abstraction
Build and maintain runbooks, technical documentation, and the FDE Protocol Requests database (Notion-tracked)
Accelerate conversion timelines for subsequent regulated partners by compounding the institutional playbook with each engagement
Team & Function
Shadow and contribute to the most complex active engagements early, internalizing the institutional playbook in context
Take primary FDE ownership of named partners as ramp completes, reducing concentration risk on the team
Operate as a credible future #2 within FDE, exhibiting mentorship, end-to-end scope ownership, and comfort representing the function externally
WHAT YOU WILL BRING
Hands-on depth across the Avalanche (or a comparable L1/L2) stack: client implementation, EVM, cross-chain messaging, and validator infrastructure — able to design and ship solutions at each layer without senior backup
AI-native execution, proven ability to leverage modern coding assistants and agentic tooling to produce production-grade output at speed
Customer-facing maturity in enterprise or institutional settings; comfortable representing technical depth to senior engineering stakeholders at regulated financial institutions
Strong documentation and operational discipline: you close loops, build runbooks, and maintain the tracked artifacts FDE's institutional partners depend on
Pattern abstraction instinct, you recognize when a bespoke partner solution should be generalized and you drive that productization
YOUR AWESOME IFS
Direct experience deploying or operating blockchain infrastructure in production enterprise environments (on-prem or regulated cloud)
Prior exposure to financial institution POC or deployment cycles for critical financial market infrastructure, custody/clearing, or comparable institutional context
Familiarity with Avalanche's ecosystem, architecture, and institutional positioning
Signals of future people-management trajectory: past mentorship, end-to-end scope ownership, comfort representing a technical function externally

We are seeking a highly accomplished and discreet Executive Assistant to provide dedicated, high-touch support to our CEO, President and COO. Proactively prepare daily and weekly briefings, ensuring all principals are fully informed and prepared for every engagement.
Executive Communications and Correspondence

Exercise considerable discretion in managing sensitive and confidential communications on behalf of all principals.
Prepare briefing documents, meeting agendas, talking points, and follow-up summaries for key engagements, including QBRs and company-wide communications from the CEO, President and COO.

Plan and execute complex, multi-leg domestic and international travel itineraries including private and commercial air, ground transportation, accommodations, and visa and passport logistics.
Anticipate and resolve travel disruptions in real time, ensuring executives are never without a contingency plan.
Coordinate closely with executive protection personnel, security teams, and home-office staff on travel planning with full awareness of security requirements.
Manage detailed travel budgets and reconcile expenses in accordance with company policy.
Strategic and Operational Support
Support the development of QBRs, board materials, and company-wide executive communications, including research, synthesis, deck preparation, and follow-up tracking.
Manage sensitive visitor and guest protocols, including access management, NDA routing, and escort coordination.
Build and maintain strong relationships with home-office staff, senior executive assistants, and department heads to ensure seamless information flow and operational alignment.
Lead or assist with special projects and strategic initiatives as assigned by the principals.
Manage vendor relationships, contractor agreements, and external service providers supporting the executive office.
What Makes You a Good Fit
You get energy from making brilliant, busy people more effective. You think ahead, not just react.
You are unflappable. Things move fast, plans change, and the stakes are real. You do your best work under that kind of pressure.
You can read a room, a relationship, and an organization. You know when to act independently and when to escalate.
You have genuine curiosity about the technology and business of Web3. You do not need to be a blockchain expert, but this world should excite you.
You are based in New York and available to travel internationally.
What You Will Bring
5+ years of experience supporting C-suite executives, in a high-growth technology or financial services environment
Exceptional written communication skills, able to draft board-ready materials, executive correspondence, and company-wide communications without heavy direction
Demonstrated ability to build and manage complex international travel programs, including security-conscious itineraries and real-time contingency management

Strong financial literacy, budget tracking, expense reconciliation, and vendor management across multiple workstreams
Discretion and professionalism that senior leaders, board members, and external partners trust without question
Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience
The Opportunity
This is a rare chance to sit inside the engine room of one of the most important companies in blockchain.
You will work alongside people who are shaping the infrastructure of a new financial system and absorb strategy as it forms. The principals you support are among the most respected names in Web3. For the right person, there are few better environments in which to grow.
