ABOUT BEACON
Beacon Software acquires and operates vertical market SaaS companies across North America. We run a portfolio of 25+ software businesses spanning campground management, election platforms, field safety tools, proptech data, workforce scheduling, and more, with a shared focus on compounding customer value over the long term.
Data sits at the centre of how we operate. We use it to run portfolio companies better, underwrite new acquisitions, and increasingly to build AI-powered capabilities into our products. This role is the person who architects, owns, and builds the infrastructure that makes all of that possible.
THE OPPORTUNITY
We are looking for a senior data infrastructure leader who is still deeply hands-on. Someone who has spent time inside companies like Snowflake, Databricks, or Confluent building the platforms others run on, and who now wants to apply that depth to a genuinely interesting operational problem.
You will be the first dedicated data infrastructure hire at the Beacon holding-company level. You will design the architecture, write significant amounts of the code, and set the patterns for how data flows across a growing portfolio. The problem is not generic. Multi-tenant isolation across very different portcos, cross-cloud ingestion from systems we do not control, regulated verticals with residency requirements, and a long-term path toward making this data usable by both people and software. Over time, you will define whether and how a small team gets built around you.
WHAT YOU'LL OWN
- The central data platform. Design and build Beacon's lakehouse, warehouse, and pipeline architecture. Unify data across 25+ portfolio companies into a coherent platform that survives contact with very different source systems, very different data quality, and very different portco maturity levels.
- Ingestion strategy. Connect diverse source systems (SaaS apps, transactional DBs, Stripe, Salesforce, custom APIs) into a low-latency data layer. The hard part is not any individual connector. It is the operating model that makes onboarding portco 50 as fast as portco 5.
- Modeling and transformation standards. Define the data modeling standards, transformation logic (dbt, Spark, or equivalent), and lineage practices used by the entire portfolio. The canonical model is the thing that lets a query like “show me sales across all portcos” actually resolve, and it is the thing that determines whether the platform compounds or fragments as we grow.
- Real-time and batch frameworks. Establish the processing framework for operational analytics, AI feature engineering, and executive reporting. Batch where batch is right. Streaming where it matters. The discipline to know which is which.
- Multi-tenant isolation and security posture. Per-portco data, compute, and credential boundaries. Cross-cloud (AWS and Azure) connectivity. Regional residency for portcos in regulated verticals. KMS scoping, IAM design, and the audit surfaces that make it all defensible.
- Infrastructure-as-code for the data stack. Cloud provisioning, cost management, and observability. You will own the Terraform or Pulumi modules that other engineers build against. The bar is not novelty. It is correctness, repeatability, and the kind of module design that ages well.
- AI and feature serving partnership. Partner with AI and product teams to build feature stores, vector infrastructure, and low-latency serving layers as we embed intelligence in portfolio products. You do not need to be the ML expert. You need to be the person who makes sure the data layer underneath is ready when ML needs it.
- Vendor stack ownership. Evaluate and own the cloud warehouse, orchestration, cataloging, and BI tooling. Build vs. buy decisions, with long-term leverage in mind. We have an active evaluation underway between Snowflake and Databricks, and you will be the senior voice in landing that.
- Acquisition diligence. Act as the senior technical voice in acquisition diligence, assessing target companies' data maturity and integration complexity. Some of the highest-leverage moments in our operating model happen pre-close, and the data infra perspective is missing from most diligence processes.
WHO YOU ARE
Technical depth
- Hands-on background in distributed systems, query engines, or cloud data platforms.
- Comfortable writing production Python, SQL, and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, Pulumi).
- Deep familiarity with modern lakehouse and warehouse internals (Iceberg, Delta, Parquet, Snowflake, Databricks).
- Strong grasp of streaming architectures (Kafka, Kinesis, Flink) and CDC patterns.
- Experience building for both analytical and operational workloads at scale.
Operating style
- Still gets excited to write code and review PRs. This is not a purely strategic role.
- Operates well in small-team, high-autonomy environments without heavyweight process.
- Strong opinions, loosely held. Makes architectural decisions fast and iterates.
- Can translate infrastructure complexity into plain language for operators and GMs.
- Comfortable scoping work across many different business contexts simultaneously.
WHAT THIS ROLE IS NOT
- This is not a heads-down IC role with no scope. You will be setting the technical direction for data infrastructure across the entire portfolio.
- This is not a purely strategic role. We expect you to write code, review PRs, and be in the systems day-to-day. The team you build around you will follow the bar you set.
- This is not a maintenance role. The platform is net-new. You will be designing it from scratch and living with the consequences.
COMPENSATION & LOGISTICS
Competitive base salary plus meaningful equity in Beacon. Comp bands are calibrated to top-of-market tech companies, not to PE firm norms. Beacon HQ is in San Francisco (CA). Hybrid expected. Remote considered for the right person, with the expectation that you will travel to San Francisco (CA) or Toronto (CN) regularly for in-person design and review sessions.
HOW TO APPLY
Send a note to careers@beaconsoftware.com with anything that helps us understand how you think. The strongest applications include a system you have built or owned end-to-end, a design decision you made and would defend, or a technical bet you took and what you learned. We read everything.

Senior IT Corporate Engineer
Beacon Software · San Francisco, CA, United States
You'll help build and operate the systems that run Beacon, working alongside our Staff Corporate Engineer. It's a hands-on role on a small team. You'll own real pieces of the stack, identity, endpoint, access, and the SaaS layer, while the staff engineer sets the broader architecture and you learn the parts you haven't done before.
This is a good fit if you've spent a few years in corporate engineering or IT, you're comfortable writing code, and you want to build directly instead of managing tickets in a big, layered org.
Key Responsibilities
Build and operate the core stack. Beacon's IT and Systems function is early, so you'll help build it out: identity, endpoint management, permissioning and access, networking, corporate security, and the SaaS layer that runs the business. You'll own well-scoped pieces end to end.
Keep the systems healthy. Own the day-to-day operation of the tools you build: access reviews, lifecycle, patching, and the unglamorous work that keeps a stack reliable and secure.
Use the right tool for the problem. Lean on automation, AI tooling, and modern infrastructure where it makes sense rather than defaulting to manual work.
Document what you build. Write the runbooks and architecture decision records that outlast any one person on the team. The next person is faster because of the work you did.
What We're Looking For
5+ years in corporate engineering, IT, systems, or a related hands-on infrastructure role
Solid working knowledge of identity, SSO, SCIM, and MFA, with a real appetite to go deeper on modern access architecture
Hands-on experience with MDM, endpoint security, or device lifecycle (macOS primary, Windows secondary)
Comfortable in a terminal and willing to script; you don't need to be a software engineer
You ask good questions, then go figure things out
Comfort with ambiguity and a bias for action
Bonus Points
M&A or multi-entity integration experience
Familiarity with SOC 2, ISO 27001, or SOX ITGC
AI-native workflow experience used in real work

Staff/Lead Enterprise Security Engineer
The role
You will be Beacon's first dedicated security engineer. You will set the strategy for enterprise security and build the program from the ground up.
At its core, the job is preventing, detecting, and responding to threats across Beacon's corporate and cloud environments and its portfolio companies, and owning the security stack that makes that possible. You will develop, maintain, and scale that stack across a complex multi-cloud, multi-SaaS environment, shape its architecture, and own the technical roadmap as Beacon grows.
We run lean, so automation is the point, not a nice-to-have. This role is proactive and engineering-driven, not alert-babysitting. You automate the repetitive work and keep tightening the playbooks and levers as new patterns and information emerge, so the systems get sharper over time instead of just louder. You experiment, iterate, and build creatively.
You will report to the VP of IT and Integration and work with everyone from Beacon engineering to portfolio company team members.
What Enterprise Security owns
This is the full remit of Enterprise Security at Beacon, and it is deliberately broad. It is more than one person does at once, and we know that. As the first member of the team, you start the program: you stand up the essentials, build the highest-leverage pieces first, and shape the rest into the roadmap. You are not expected to do all of it at once.
Own prevention, detection, and response across corporate and cloud: tune the detection stack, write detection logic, own triage, and get telemetry into the SIEM
Own the endpoint security stack (EDR, DLP, secure browser, hardening) and the technical roadmap for security tooling.
Lead incident response: own readiness (playbooks and tabletops) and drive the response when something fires, pulling in IT, engineering, and portfolio teams as needed.
Set and confirm the security standards for identity and access (MFA, SSO, SCIM lifecycle, least-privilege), and build the monitoring and reporting on top.
Run security across the portfolio: baseline audits at onboarding, ongoing monitoring, and SaaS risk at scale (SSPM, OAuth, shadow IT, drift).
Own the email security and phishing awareness program.
Run vendor security review for new tools.
What we are looking for
This role is built for a security manager or lead who has done this at a bigger company and wants to build it again from scratch, on their own terms: automation-first and AI-forward, at a company moving fast enough to keep it interesting. You trade a big team and inherited playbooks for a blank page and real ownership. We are also open to an exceptional senior IC ready to own a broad program end to end. In both cases:
Highly independent. You set priorities against a broad surface and a fast M&A cadence without being told what matters.
Confident and credible with people outside your team. You can represent security to portfolio founders and engineering leads and bring them along.
Deep, hands-on security engineering across endpoint, detection and response, identity, cloud, SaaS, and email, and the ability to build tooling and automation from scratch.
A high bar for the craft: threat modeling, secure design, detection quality, and IR rigor.
Comfortable in greenfield and ambiguity. You would rather define a program than inherit one.
Our Values at Beacon Software
Humility: We acknowledge that the path to getting to the right answer involves being wrong along the way. We have strong beliefs which are weakly held. We actively seek new ideas and believe we can learn from anyone at any time.
Honesty: We are truth seeking in our approach to business problems. Business is a repeat game and we believe that human relationships generate alpha. We understand that trust is earned over a lifetime and can be lost in an instant.
Hunger: We play to win. We hold ourselves to high standards and will not be outworked. We take pride in having a deep sense of responsibility to ourselves, each other, our partners, and our customers. We believe to whom much is given much is expected.

Member of GTM Staff - San Francisco
Beacon Software · San Francisco, CA, United States
is building the essential technology infrastructure for the everyday economy: the businesses, organizations, and services that make real life work, and that mainstream tech has largely left behind. We acquire, operate, and grow vertical market software companies. They are niche, founder-built businesses serving industries that are often overlooked and too profitable to ignore.
Our model is simple: we seek out founders who have built their business by spending years understanding their market and prioritizing their customers' specific needs. We buy great businesses, invest in their continued growth, and hold them permanently, accelerating that growth with an AI-native platform built specifically for vertical market software. No mandate to cut, flip, or roll up into something unrecognizable.
We are not a financial firm. We are technology entrepreneurs and operators who believe the most important businesses in the world are already running quietly in industries most people never think about. Our job is to find them, support the people who built them, and make them better.
Beacon is backed by a diverse base of investors, with $550M+ raised to date, including General Catalyst, Lightspeed, D1 Capital, CPMG, the family offices of the founders of Stripe, DoorDash, and Ramp, and evergreen funds built for the long game.
About the Role
Beacon Software buys businesses. You get to grow them. This can take almost any shape. Here are real projects our team ran over the last few months:
Launched ads across Meta and Google.
Ran a full outbound process (leadgen, copywriting, outreach) on behalf of a sales team.
Vibecoded an interactive TAM map to figure out which states and provinces to prioritize.
Designed and launched landing pages.
Built a system to flag high-dollar accounts at risk of churning.
Cross-sold into other portfolio companies.
Gameplanned a conference.
Prototyped a programmatic SEO strategy.
(And much more!)
Want some industry jargon? You’ll be a fractional head of growth (a forward-deployed GTM engineer?) who goes deep into portfolio companies and brainstorms, prioritizes, and executes on growth experiments.
We’re looking for an animal who can go into a business, ask the right questions with little context, launch experiments, and drive revenue.
Basically, we’re looking for , but for growth.
Why would you want this role?
Get a first-person view into the world of private equity, rollups, and AI.
Access proprietary learnings about vertical SaaS businesses in a variety of industries.
Work with a team of former YC founders, growth leaders, and execs at Silicon Valley’s fastest-growing companies like Instacart, AngelList, Coinbase, and Retool.
Have loads of control and autonomy over what you work on.
Be artsy AND sciencey.
Like writing copy and brainstorming video ideas? You get to do that.
Like reading investment memos and deeply understanding businesses? You get to do that, too.
Go deep and broad.
We have an $8M ARR company that we think can get to $100M with intelligent performance marketing.
We also have a $1M ARR company that has never had a formal growth strategy.
Spend an ample LLM token budget.
Earn meaningful equity in a hyperscaler that’s already profitable.
Who are you?
You’re probably one of these:
A growth hire at a startup who wants to get back to early-stage work and ship things.
A former founder who took their company from 0 to 1.
An agency owner or growth consultant sick of doing their own BD, but who enjoys the day-to-day work. (Run an agency? We’re open to acquihiring your team!)
Additionally:
You write clearly and concisely.
You’ve cracked a growth channel or loop before.
You try things yourself to know what “good” looks like before you outsource them.
You’re skeptical of vanity metrics.
You vibecode enough to be dangerous, but you’re not a man-with-a-hammer.
You’re broadly curious about how businesses work.
You like to ship.
You don’t like meetings.
How is this role different from the other growth lead role you posted?
You caught us; it’s functionally the same. We’re testing different job descriptions and recruiting pipelines to figure out what attracts the best people.
(As you can probably tell, we don’t really care about titles.)
Have recommendations on what we should test? Include them in your application! Part of your job will be growing our team, too. The one minor difference is that the growth lead role is for a couple specific pods, whereas this role is more pod-agnostic. It’s a slightly different recruiting process.
Key responsibilities
Meet with group CPOs and portfolio company GMs, marrying product direction with user learnings to brainstorm growth experiments.
Prioritize, build, and launch experiments that meaningfully drive revenue.
Identify and optimize growth loops at portfolio companies.
Track and improve conversion at every major step of the marketing funnel.
Build systems (e.g., playbooks, Claude skills, mini-products) that less technical folks can use to run GTM experiments themselves.
Hire other great growth people.

Recruiting Operations Lead
Beacon Software · San Francisco, CA, United States
Beacon's talent function is scaling fast, running in parallel across corporate functions and a growing roster of independently operated portfolio companies. Supporting each one of those searches are the systems and processes behind it: clean Ashby data, funnel and data reporting, and coordination that doesn't drop a candidate between steps. We're looking for a Recruiting Operations Lead to own that infrastructure end-to-end, and to build it right the first time, rather than retrofit in the future.
What You'll Be Doing
Own Ashby. Configuration, workflows, integrations, and data hygiene are yours end-to-end, not a shared responsibility with whoever has time.
Build the reporting layer. Funnel metrics, time-to-fill, source effectiveness, and hiring velocity, dashboards recruiters, executives, GMs, and hiring leadership use to make decisions.
Process design. Turn how Beacon hires today into documented, repeatable workflows that hold up as the team and portfolio grow.
Coordination backbone. Partner closely with our Recruiting Coordinator to keep scheduling, candidate communications, and interview logistics clean, especially with multiple portco searches running at once.
AI & automation. Identify and deploy tooling that reduces admin burden across candidate screening and scheduling. This might branch out to other areas including sourcing, and post interview decisions and offer workflows.
Candidate experience. Standardize the candidate journey across corporate and portco searches with a consistently high bar.
Cross-functional glue. Work with VP of Talent and Finance on headcount planning and with legal/People partners on offer letters, background checks, and clean handoffs.
Data hygiene at holdco scale. Every portfolio company's reqs, candidates, and hires need to roll up cleanly into one picture. You build that structure now, not after it's already messy.
What You Bring
5+ years in recruiting operations, HR technology, or business systems administration, with real ownership of an ATS (Ashby strongly preferred).
Comfort building process from scratch, not optimizing an existing one. Beacon's talent function is new; you'll be writing the manual, not editing it.
A strong analytical mindset. You can build a dashboard, but more importantly, you know which metric actually changes a decision.
Systems thinking. You can map how a change in one workflow ripples through downstream reporting and integrations before you make it.
Comfort with ambiguity in a fast-moving, small-team, multi-entity environment. No two portfolio companies operate the same way.
Excellent cross-functional communication; you'll work directly with the Talent, Department Heads/Managers, Finance, and People partners across a holding company structure.
Bachelor's degree, or additional years of experience in lieu.
Bonus Points
Experience in a PE-backed or multi-entity/holdco environment, where recruiting ops had to serve several operationally independent businesses at once.
Experience standing up recruiting ops and systems from scratch (0-to-1), not just optimizing a mature function.
Experience partnering with a lean recruiting coordination function to keep logistics tight without a large ops team behind you.

About EDGE
EDGE builds the software that modern precast concrete runs on. Built on Autodesk Revit, our platform automates the process of modeling, detailing, and ticketing for precast/prestressed concrete jobs. EDGE fully embraces BIM, with the goal of time consuming and error-prone manual or 2D CAD drafting and spreadsheet-driven workflows with a single digital thread that runs from the 3D model all the way to the factory floor. We work with leading precast manufacturers and engineering firms across North America, helping them cut detailing and ticketing time, eliminate costly drafting errors, and connect their engineering and plant teams around one source of truth.
EDGE aims to pull an industry still running on 2D drawings and manual processes into a connected, BIM-driven future; making precast faster to design, cleaner to build, and right the first time.
Role Overview
We're looking for a full-cycle Account Executive to drive EDGE's new-business growth, a high-ownership role focused on winning new logos. You'll own the cycle end to end, from the top of the funnel through to closed-won: generating your pipeline, running discovery and demos, and closing net-new customers across precast manufacturers and engineering firms. Reporting to the CEO, your work will contribute to scaling EDGE’s go-to market function, it is a builder’s seat with the autonomy to own the playbook and room to grow as the team expands.
Responsibilities & Duties
Lead generation — Build and maintain your ICP target account list across precast manufacturers and structural engineering firms, prospect against it through outbound, and work inbound leads.
Qualification — Score and validate opportunities against the ICP, run budget, authority, and timing checks, and progress the deals worth winning.
Demo & discovery — Lead consultative discovery and deliver compelling demos, working with a Solutions Consultant on complex or migration-heavy deals.
Proposal & close — Build and present proposals, run closing conversations, keep your pipeline accurate in the CRM, and hand off closed-won customers cleanly so onboarding can begin.
Qualifications
Experience and track record — 3–5 years of full-cycle B2B SaaS sales, personally carrying and consistently hitting quota.
Self-sourced pipeline — a proven ability to build your own pipeline through outbound, not just work inbound or SDR-fed leads.
Consultative, change-oriented selling — strong discovery and the ability to sell change against entrenched tools in multi-stakeholder, mid-market deals.
Strong communication — crisp on a discovery call, compelling in a demo, clear in writing, and able to flex your message from a drafting manager to a VP.
Genuine customer focus — you lead with the customer's problem, build trust by understanding their world, and solve for them rather than push product.
Technical fluency — comfortable selling a technical product to technical buyers, with familiarity with the tooling (Revit and BIM workflows) and the precast or broader AEC industry so you can speak their language credibly
Nice to have:
Familiarity with BIM, Revit, CAD, or adjacent design tools.
Experience selling displacement / migration deals.
Background as an early or founding AE at a startup or scaleup.
HubSpot experience; vertical SaaS background.
What You’ll Get
A profitable, growing business with real market position
An environment to learn and grow in your career
The opportunity to lead and shape the next phase of growth
Balanced working hours (7am - 5pm Monday to Thursday and half days on Friday)
Flexible working location (Open to onsite in Daphne, Alabama, hybrid and remote candidates in the USA)
Exposure to multiple businesses within the Beacon portfolio

We are supported by capital from tier-1 venture capital, crossover, and endowment investors as well as the founders of the leading technology companies.

About Beacon Software
Beacon is building the essential technology infrastructure for the everyday economy: the businesses, organizations, and services that make real life work, and that mainstream tech has largely left behind.
Role and Mission
This is an exciting and entrepreneurial opportunity to join a fast-paced technology company with a very significant growth trajectory. Beacon Software is making its first hire on the Strategic Finance team. This is a role where investing turns into building. The individual will report to Beacon’s VP, Strategic Finance and work closely with Beacon’s CEO, CTO, M&A Directors, industry pod leaders, and the General Managers of Beacon’s portfolio companies.
The Strategic Finance team’s mandate spans the financial decisions that shape Beacon: partnering with portfolio companies on growth and value creation, building AI-native systems that let functions scale non-linearly with the portfolio, owning Beacon’s capital allocation across organic and inorganic strategies, leading new strategy extensions beyond core software M&A, and building Beacon’s capital markets capability. Team members work across a mix of these areas based on their interests and skillset.
This is an asymmetric opportunity to build a company, with decision authority and velocity over process driving compounding equity. You’ll sit next to the CEO on capital allocation and capital markets, or fill a CFO role across dozens of companies on their most consequential decisions. The playbook will be shaped by you with the goal of building Beacon into a $100B company.
To succeed in this role, this individual should be an enthusiastic and energetic self-starter, with the ability to translate operator intuition into financial decisions and build the analytical rigor behind Beacon’s platform-level bets. The ability to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously across portfolio companies and platform initiatives will be essential. We are seeking a collaborative professional who wants to contribute ideas on how to improve the status quo and create best-practices that will accelerate our execution. Teamwork and positivity are key foundations of this growing team’s culture and ethos.
Location: for discussion. Beacon has offices in Toronto, San Francisco, New York, and Chicago.
What You'll Do
Finance partner to acquired companies
Partner with industry sector leaders and portfolio company General Managers as the financial decision-making engine across Beacon’s portfolio companies.
Translate product, AI, and operator intuition into investment decisions: pricing changes, sales hires, direct marketing investments, engineering allocation, and tuck-in M&A.
Build value creation plans, set budgets and targets, and make the day-to-day capital decisions that drive growth across companies.
Beacon capital allocation
Help own platform-level capital allocation: organic platform investment vs. inorganic M&A, platform-level acquisitions vs. tuck-ins, debt vs. equity at the corporate level.
Build the analytical rigor behind Beacon’s platform-level bets, ensuring capital is deployed where returns are most asymmetric.
Strategy extension beyond core software M&A
Own thesis through acquisition through ownership for new strategy extensions, starting with software-plus-services vertical integration in end markets where Beacon already owns software.
Partner with the M&A team for execution while driving the strategy, the diligence, and the post-close build.
Capital markets
Lead Beacon’s debt strategy, support future equity raises, and prepare Beacon for an eventual IPO.
Build best-in-class debt and equity investor relations and position Beacon as an institutional-grade capital allocator.
Build AI-native finance systems
Partner with Beacon’s CTO and engineering leadership on the company-wide tools that scale across the portfolio, including BeaconOS and AI-native financial systems.
Build the systems, dashboards, and decision frameworks that let sector leaders and GMs self-serve the financial answers they need, allowing the finance function to scale non-linearly with the portfolio.
Qualifications
3-8 years of post-undergrad experience in strategy consulting, private equity, or other finance roles (e.g., investment banking, growth equity, corporate development, or strategic finance).
Strong academic record from a competitive institution with a degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related quantitative field.
Investor mindset, analytical toolkit, and operator instinct: equally comfortable building a model and being in the room with a product leader or GM helping them make the call.
Expertise in building financial models, value creation plans, and analytical frameworks for capital allocation decisions.
Strong ability to synthesize complex systems and communicate clearly to senior stakeholders.
Familiarity with vertical market software, buy-and-build models, and the operating dynamics of small-to-mid-sized software businesses is a plus.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with founders, CEOs, GMs, board members, and investors.
Ability to translate high-level objectives into actionable work plans and to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
High attention to detail combined with the ability to zoom out and see the bigger picture.
Demonstrated high agency: comfort building the playbook, not just running it.
Curiosity and willingness to use AI tools heavily as part of the day-to-day workflow.
Conducts all interactions with a high level of integrity and trust.
What You Will Get From Beacon
A first-team seat on a small, high-leverage Strategic Finance group at the center of Beacon’s platform, with the opportunity to shape the playbook from day one.
Direct exposure to M&A, capital markets, AI-native systems, and IPO-grade operations.
Network and learn from leading public and private equity investors who are Beacon LPs, including the founders of Stripe, DoorDash, and Ramp.
Attend exclusive Beacon Speaker Series fireside chats with legendary venture capital, private equity, and hedge fund investors as well as eminent technology leaders.
Work directly with Silicon Valley product and engineering teams on portfolio value creation and platform technology investments.
Compounding equity in a company structured as a permanent capital vehicle, with no pressure to exit.
A clear line of sight from your work to enterprise value creation across dozens of operating companies.
A unique work environment that combines a high-growth technology startup with a long-term buy-and-hold investment platform.
Ideal Candidate
Based in or willing to work from Chicago. Location is for discussion for the right candidate.
Potential Personas
Experience working at a top private equity, growth equity, or hedge fund.
Experience working at a top strategy consulting firm (MBB or equivalent).
Strategic finance or corporate development
Experience working at another serial acquirer, especially in software or vertical-market roll-ups.
Investment banking experience at a top-tier firm with software, technology, or M&A coverage.
Minimum Expectations
Highly motivated with a strong work ethic.
Ability to manage multiple projects and deliverables simultaneously, with different timelines.
Descriptors of Personas That Succeed At Beacon
High agency
Impatient with actions, patient with results
Play for front of the jersey
Intellectually curious
Perpetual learner
Low bureaucracy
Systems thinker
Optimistic
Commercial
Ambitious

About Beacon Software
Beacon Software is a permanent capital holding company which acquires and grows essential businesses. We are a profitable Series C firm that combines great technologists, operators and M&A professionals to accelerate the scale of the ambition of the dozens of businesses we own and operate. We are supported by capital from tier-1 venture capital, crossover, and endowment investors as well as the founders of the leading technology companies from the past decade.
We are growing our team in Toronto, San Francisco, and New York. Apply below.
You’ll be joining Beacon’s Acceleration team: a cross-functional group of Product Managers, Engineers, Designers, GTM experts, and Data Scientists. We work closely with portfolio companies to solve problems, create and implement playbooks, and build new features and products.
About the Role
Beacon Software buys businesses. You get to grow them.
Specifically, you’ll design and run go-to-market experiments for a pod of 3-4 companies we’ve acquired in a particular industry (education, industrials, parks & rec, etc).
This can take any shape: you might launch ads, cross-sell into other portfolio companies, game plan a conference, scrape high-intent lead lists, write copy, or vibe-code a dashboard.
To put it another way, you’ll be a fractional head of growth, with an eye towards systems and playbooks that generalize across portfolio companies.
We’re looking for an animal who can go into a business, ask the right questions with little context, launch experiments, and drive revenue.
Basically, we’re looking for The Wolf, but for growth.
Why would you want this role?
Get a first-person view into the world of private equity, rollups, and AI.
Access proprietary learnings about vertical SaaS businesses in a variety of industries.
Work with a team of former YC founders, growth leaders, and execs at Silicon Valley’s fastest-growing companies (Instacart, AngelList, Retool, and more).
Have loads of control and autonomy over what you work on.
Be artsy AND sciencey.
Like writing copy and brainstorming video ideas? You get to do that.
Like reading investment memos and deeply understanding businesses? You get to do that, too.
Ample LLM token budget.
Meaningful equity in a hyperscaler that’s already profitable.
Your Future Teammates
Asher: Former cofounder of Demand Curve (YC S19). Has grown multiple startups to millions in annual revenue.
Safwaan: Former EIR & investor at Founders Inc., former Chief of Staff to a well-known entrepreneur
Brent: Former growth @Together Software (YC S19) & Roadmunk, both companies acquired for 8-figure sums.
Key Responsibilities
Meet with your pod leader and portfolio company GMs, marrying product direction with user learnings to brainstorm growth experiments.
Prioritize, build, and launch experiments that meaningfully drive revenue.
Identify and optimize growth loops at portfolio companies.
Track and improve conversion at every major step of the marketing funnel.
Build systems (e.g., playbooks, Claude skills, mini-products) that less technical GMs and portfolio company employees can use to run GTM experiments themselves.
Hire other great growth people.
What We're Looking For
Former founders and growth marketers/GTM engineers with a track record of cracking growth channels and loops, ideally in B2B SaaS.
Strong growth fundamentals: prioritizing channels, breaking down funnels, developing ICPs, automating prospecting and leadgen, copywriting, CRO, etc.
Clear, concise writing.
Comfort saying no to the wrong priorities.
Enough vibe-coding chops to be dangerous, but not a man-with-a-hammer.
Software engineering or finance background is a plus, but not required.
