THE ROLE
We're looking for an Operations Associate, Growth to be the connective tissue between our fast-moving, frequently traveling Growth team and the rest of the company.
This is a role for someone who loves being in the middle of the action: organizing complicated logistics, anticipating what’s next, solving problems before they become problems, and making sure nothing falls through the cracks. You genuinely like logistics and being the person who keeps things moving.
You’ll own the operational details behind a team that spends significant time on the road meeting customers and building the business. That means coordinating travel, chasing down answers, navigating last-minute changes, and making sure teams across the company have the information they need.
The right person will have real ownership from the start, with more autonomy as you build trust. We’re looking for someone hungry, resourceful, and excited to grow with the company.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Own travel logistics for the Growth team, including flights, hotels, ground transportation, changes, and day-of issues
- Chase down missing information from the team and make sure the right people across the company have the information they need
- Build familiarity with our key customers and projects, help maintain those relationships, and keep important information organized and up to date
- Maintain key trip details in one organized, visible place so everyone at the company has accurate, up-to-date information
- Keep upcoming trips and events moving, even while the Growth team is on the ground elsewhere
- Serve as the main point of contact for Growth’s travel-related operational needs
- Stay ahead of changing plans and solve issues quickly when things move at the last minute
- Build simple, repeatable processes that make travel and coordination easier over time
- Provide light calendar, inbox, and administrative support to a senior leader

THE ROLE
We are hiring an Associate Director, Business Development - Army to build and convert opportunities across the U.S. Army.
This hands-on role requires someone who can enter an unfamiliar Army organization, identify key stakeholders, understand how requirements and funding move, and create a credible path toward a funded opportunity. Success will depend on hunting, research, relationship building, and comfort navigating ambiguity.
The strongest candidate understands the Army from direct experience and can translate that knowledge into disciplined commercial execution. Knowing where to go, how to build credibility, and how to identify another entry point when an initial approach stalls will be critical.
You will own opportunities from customer discovery through pilot development, proposal submission, source selection, and follow-on expansion, partnering across Engineering, Mission Operations, leadership, contracting stakeholders, and external partners.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Build and manage an Army-focused pipeline from opportunity identification through proposal submission, source selection, and expansion.
- Develop net-new relationships across operational units, program offices, requirements organizations, acquisition communities, contracting organizations, and technical stakeholders.
- Research customer structures, decision-makers, mission priorities, budgets, acquisition pathways, incumbents, and competitors.
- Create stakeholder maps and engagement strategies identifying champions, blockers, decision-makers, funding owners, and alternative entry points.
- Develop informed perspectives on where Distributed Spectrum can address meaningful Army mission problems and how those opportunities should be pursued.
- Translate operational problems into opportunity strategies, technical narratives, requirements, acquisition approaches, and measurable mission outcomes.
- Scope pilots, demonstrations, exercises, experimentation efforts, and user evaluations that prove mission value and can transition into larger programs.
- Develop strategies for converting successful pilots into follow-on contracts, production opportunities, or broader adoption across Army organizations.
- Develop win strategies covering customer engagement, competitive positioning, teaming, decision timelines, and proposal execution.
- Own assigned proposals, coordinate cross-functional inputs, and lead gate reviews, bid/no-bid recommendations, action tracking, and submission readiness.
- Communicate Distributed Spectrum’s capabilities to operational, technical, acquisition, and executive audiences.
- Maintain clear account documentation, identify alternative paths when an approach stalls, and provide insights that inform strategy and product positioning.
- Represent Distributed Spectrum during frequent travel and periodic work in secure or classified environments.
WHO YOU ARE
- You have five or more years of relevant experience owning outcomes in military, defense, national security, defense technology, operational, technical, or commercial environments.
- You bring relevant U.S. Army experience or demonstrated success working directly with Army customers in business development, growth, deployment strategy, mission operations, or program strategy.
- You understand how Army formations identify mission needs, establish requirements, evaluate capabilities, fund experimentation, and transition technologies into sustained programs.
- You can navigate unfamiliar organizations, determine who matters, understand how decisions are made, identify where funding resides, and use stakeholder mapping to resolve blockers.
- You can build net-new customer relationships rather than relying primarily on inherited accounts or an existing personal network.

NICE TO HAVE

- Familiarity with OTAs, SBIR Phase III, BAAs, STRATFI, TACFI, xTech, DIU, or similar pathways.
- Familiarity with RF sensing, EW, SIGINT, edge AI, tactical data integration, mission systems, or field-deployed sensing technologies.
- Active TS/SCI eligibility or experience in classified customer environments.

During your first six to twelve months, you will:

THE ROLE
Mission Operations at Distributed Spectrum will be at the heart of transforming raw RF data into actionable intelligence in operational environments. Empowered by AI-driven sensing, you’ll ensure operators can detect, understand, and respond to emerging threats at the edge. You’ll work on everything from deploying sensors in the field, integrating systems, and building operational toolchains to supporting customer missions in real time.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Operate and support live mission deployments, working with edge‑AI sensors to detect and classify threats from RF environments.
- Lead hands-on field operations, including deployment planning, sensor configuration, testing, troubleshooting, and data validation.
- Design and improve mission workflows, translating operator needs into technical specifications, products, and real-world capabilities.
- Collaborate closely with engineering teams, feeding customer insights back to drive rapid iteration on sensor hardware, software, and AI models.

Distributed Spectrum is building a passive RF sensing system for maritime domain awareness and related mission areas. The system is not a single piece of software or hardware. It is a stack: sensors with embedded compute and RF hardware, a datapath and processing pipeline, a sensor management and command-and-control layer, and a user-facing interface. Making all of that work together, reliably, in a lab and in the field, is the job of the Systems Integration Engineer.
This role is genuinely split between lab and field. Some of the time you are in our facility in New York, building test infrastructure, running integration tests, and chasing down bugs. Some of the time you are in the field, deploying sensors, running experiments, and operating the system in the kinds of conditions our customers will encounter.
WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON
Lab Integration and Test
- Build and maintain the hardware-in-the-loop test infrastructure for validating end-to-end system behavior. This is the framework that catches failures the component-level and software tests miss.
- Define and execute integration test plans for new hardware variants, carrier board ports, and sensor software releases.
- Own the post-manufacturing QA process for sensors built at volume. As the manufacturing ramp scales toward hundreds of units, this process needs to be fast, repeatable, and ruthless about quality.
- Root cause failures at the intersection of firmware, hardware, RF, and network infrastructure. You will not always own the fix, but you will own understanding what broke and why.
RF Data Generation / Simulation Harnesses
- Data generation pipelines and frameworks to support both hardware-in-the-loop and simulated test environments
- Frameworks tying physics-based modeling (off the shelf and custom) into custom data generation and analysis.
- Collaborate deeply across disciplines—including Machine Learning, Embedded Software, and RF Systems—to build the tools and collect the data needed to develop and test our systems.
Field Operations and Data Collection
- Deploy sensors in the field for experiments and customer demonstrations. This includes physical installation, network configuration, and validation that the system is performing as expected in its deployed state.
- Operate the system during data collection runs and live demonstrations. You are the person who knows the difference between normal system behavior and a bug in the field.
- Collect, log, and preserve data from field experiments in a form that lets the engineering team analyze it back in the lab.
- Bring field observations back to the engineering team in a structured way: what worked, what did not, what conditions we have not yet tested.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- Experience integrating hardware and software systems, ideally in embedded or sensor-heavy contexts. You understand what happens between the hardware driver and the application, and you have debugged problems at that boundary.
- Comfort with Linux system administration and networking. Our sensors run Linux. Our test infrastructure runs on Linux. You need to be able to configure, debug, and operate these systems without hand-holding.
- Ability to write test automation and basic tooling using Python. We are not looking for a software engineer, but we do need someone who can write a test script, analyze a log file, and build tooling to make repetitive work faster.
- Physical and logistical competence in the field. You need to be comfortable working outdoors, in variable conditions, carrying and installing equipment, and solving problems without access to a lab bench.
- Willingness to travel. Some excursions are day trips to New York Harbor, or NYC-area test sites. Others are multi-day trips to test sites or customer locations.
- Clear written communication. Field reports and test results need to be readable by people who were not there.
- BS or equivalent technical experience, Electrical/Computer engineering or similar.
NICE TO HAVE
- Background in RF test and measurement, signal processing/analysis, or electronic systems that include an RF front end.
- Software engineering experience (embedded or Linux system programming)
- Familiarity with containerized software deployment or sensor network management.
- Prior experience in a defense or government context, particularly one involving field operations with partner forces or in austere environments.

Responsible for the design, evaluation, and optimization of RF systems, supporting mission-driven applications in complex electromagnetic environments. Owns RF system design and end-to-end performance, leading RF efforts on cross-functional teams during design, development, test and deployment of DS Systems. This role integrates RF modeling, synthetic and hardware-in-the-loop data generation, hardware validation, and experimental analysis to inform system architecture designs under real-world constraints. Requires a strong foundation in RF systems, electromagnetic wave propagation, and RF communication modulation schemes as well as demonstrated collaboration and communication skills within multidisciplinary teams.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
RF Hardware
• Drive technical direction and execution of RF efforts, independently identifying priorities, risks, and trade-offs in ambiguous environments
• Own end-to-end RF system performance across prototype platforms—from early concept through testing, validation, and iteration
• Lead the development of EMI/EMC mitigation and RF hardening strategies, ensuring robust performance in complex electromagnetic environments
• Design and optimize RF systems under real-world constraints, including hardware limitations, interference, and congested spectrum conditions
• Design and execute experiments to characterize performance, validate models, and uncover failure modes
RF Simulation
• Build and maintain RF simulation frameworks (antenna models, propagation models, channel simulations) to evaluate system design decisions
• Translate experimental and simulation results into clear, actionable insights that influence system architecture and operational decisions
• Collaborate deeply across disciplines—including Machine Learning, hardware, and mission teams—to align system design with algorithm development and operational needs

THE ROLE
As a Mission Operations Engineer at Distributed Spectrum, you will be at the heart of transforming raw RF data into actionable intelligence in operational environments. Empowered by AI-driven sensing, you’ll ensure operators can detect, understand, and respond to emerging threats at the edge. You’ll work on everything from deploying sensors in the field, integrating systems, and building operational toolchains to supporting customer missions in real time.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Operate and support live mission deployments, working with edge‑AI sensors to detect and classify threats from RF environments.
- Lead hands-on field operations, including deployment planning, sensor configuration, testing, troubleshooting, and data validation.

ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY
Distributed Spectrum is seeking a transitioning active-duty service member for a DoD SkillBridge opportunity supporting Mission Operations. This is a structured training and internship pathway for service members who want civilian experience in field deployment support, technical integration, test and validation, customer mission execution, troubleshooting, and operator-to-engineering translation in a defense-technology environment. This opportunity is designed to capture a wider range of mission-facing technical profiles, not just a traditional Mission Ops candidate. We are open to candidates whose experience leans more toward mission support, systems integration, deployment engineering, test and evaluation, technical field support, or adjacent developer-enabled mission systems work, provided they have helped make real systems work in real environments.
Participants in this program remain on active duty during the SkillBridge period and continue receiving military compensation and benefits from the Department of Defense. Participation is contingent on DoD SkillBridge eligibility, command approval, and alignment on program structure, location, and supervision. SkillBridge participation does not guarantee employment with Distributed Spectrum, though a separate conversation about future employment may occur based on performance, timing, and company needs.
WHAT YOU WILL LEARN AND CONTRIBUTE TO
- Support preparation and execution for field deployments, mission events, test activities, exercises, and customer-facing demonstrations
- Assist with system setup, configuration, integration, readiness checks, and troubleshooting in lab and field environments

This opportunity is best suited for transitioning service members who have experience in one or more of the following areas:

ABOUT THE ROLE
Some domains already have standard ML playbooks. RF is not one of them.
Distributed Spectrum is building AI-enabled sensing systems for the radio domain, and we are hiring a Machine Learning Researcher, Specialist to bring modern ML to a problem space where representation, structure, physics, runtime constraints, and deployment realities all matter at once.
This role is designed for a strong generalist researcher who wants genuinely open technical terrain. You will work on problems where signal structure, propagation effects, interference, sparse visibility, and edge deployment constraints all shape what "good" looks like. The job is not just to improve accuracy. It is to formulate the right problem, find the right modeling approach, and get that capability into systems that are used in the field.
You will work across the lifecycle of research and deployment: data and evaluation design, experimentation, model development, release readiness, and iteration based on real-world outcomes. You will collaborate closely with embedded, hardware, and mission teammates, and your work will directly influence how Distributed Spectrum builds machine learning capability as the company scales.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Formulate new ML problems in RF sensing and spectrum understanding
- Design experiments and evaluation approaches that reflect real operating conditions including domain shift, changing interference, and varying sensors and platforms
- Build models for structured, noisy, and partially observed signal environments
- Improve robustness across propagation, interference, and low-visibility waveform conditions
