Director, Research - AI Evals
San Francisco, CA • New York, NY • United States
Apply
Figma is growing our team of passionate creatives and builders on a mission to make design accessible to all. Figma’s platform helps teams bring ideas to life—whether you're brainstorming, creating a prototype, translating designs into code, or iterating with AI. From idea to product, Figma empowers teams to streamline workflows, move faster, and work together in real time from anywhere in the world. If you're excited to shape the future of design and collaboration, join us!
The Figma Research team is hiring an Director, Research - AI Evals to own how we measure the quality of Figma's AI-powered experiences. As Figma ships more AI capabilities across our products, the question "is this really good?" has never mattered more — and answering it rigorously is what this role exists to do. You'll define what "good" means for our AI features, build the frameworks and quality bars to measure it, and turn that into trusted signal that product teams rely on to decide what to ship.
The ideal candidate brings deep, hands-on experience evaluating AI/LLM-powered products — blending human evaluation with automated, model-based approaches — along with the product instinct and communication skills to make evaluation genuinely useful. Partnering with Product, Design, Engineering, and Data Science, you'll sit upstream of nearly every AI shipping decision at Figma and directly shape the quality of features used by millions of people.
This is a full time role that can be held from one of our US hubs or remotely in the United States.
What you'll do at Figma:
Own AI evaluation methods and operations for Figma's AI-powered experiences — define quality dimensions, design how we measure them, and turn results into decision-ready signal
Build and maintain evaluation frameworks, rubrics, golden datasets, and quality bars, combining human evaluation with automated/model-based approaches (e.g., LLM-as-judge) where appropriate
Partner with engineering to stand up repeatable, reproducible evaluation pipelines and regression testing, so evaluation is a routine part of how AI features are built and shipped
Produce clear readouts and dashboards that let stakeholders confidently make go/no-go and prioritization decisions
Socialize a shared definition of quality so evaluation standards are adopted across teams rather than re-invented — and advocate for evaluation as a strategic partner in the product process
Manage a small team to execute our AI evals in partnership with contractors, internal staff, and/or LLMs
We'd love to hear from you if you have:
10+ years of experience in product, research, applied research, or a closely related field, including 2+ years of management experience
Direct, hands-on experience owning the evaluation of AI/LLM-powered products
Expertise designing and running AI evaluation — human evaluation programs, rubric and benchmark/golden-dataset construction, inter-rater reliability — and sound judgment about when and how to apply automated/model-based approaches (e.g., LLM-as-judge), including their limitations
Strength across both qualitative and quantitative methods, comfort with data and metrics, and the ability to reason about model behavior
Demonstrated success in identifying the riskiest assumptions behind an ambiguous quality question, prioritizing them, and designing right-sized evaluation to build confidence
A proven track record of gaining buy-in from executive and cross-disciplinary stakeholders — transcending methodology to articulate a larger user story and the "so what" to inspire action
While it's not required, it's an added plus if you also have:
Experience building or co-building automated evaluation pipelines and regression testing in partnership with engineering, or familiarity with eval tooling (e.g., Braintrust, LangSmith, DeepEval, or equivalents)
Experience standing up a new function, practice, or discipline from scratch
2+ years in product design, user-centric product management, data science, product development, and/or front-end engineering
A familiarity and depth of experience using Figma's products
At Figma, one of our values is Grow as you go. We believe in hiring smart, curious people who are excited to learn and develop their skills. OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 07/31/2029
Why are you being asked to complete this form?
We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.
Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
How do you know if you have a disability?
A disability is a condition that substantially limits one or more of your “major life activities.” If you have or have ever had such a condition, you are a person with a disability. Disabilities include, but are not limited to:
Alcohol or other substance use disorder (not currently using drugs illegally)
Autoimmune disorder, for example, lupus, fibromyalgia, rheumatoid arthritis, HIV/AIDS
Blind or low vision
Cancer (past or present)
Cardiovascular or heart disease

Figma is growing our team of passionate creatives and builders on a mission to make design accessible to all. Figma’s platform helps teams bring ideas to life—whether you're brainstorming, creating a prototype, translating designs into code, or iterating with AI. From idea to product, Figma empowers teams to streamline workflows, move faster, and work together in real time from anywhere in the world. If you're excited to shape the future of design and collaboration, join us!
At Figma, we're building tools that help teams design, build, and ship better products together. Figma Make enables teams to go from prompt to production code, and the Figma agent is a purpose-built design agent that edits files directly on the Figma canvas.
We're looking for deeply technical Product Managers to own the developer platform: Figma’s MCP Server, REST API, and key first-party integrations like Figma for Slack and Figma for ChatGPT/for Claude. These roles sit at the intersection of product and infrastructure. If you're excited about developer tooling, systems thinking, and building the foundations that other product teams ship on top of, this role is for you.
This is a full time role that can be held from one of our US hubs or remotely in the United States.
What you'll do at Figma:
You’ll define and drive the strategy for one or more parts of our developer platform: the big bets, build-vs-buy calls, and how to sequence it all. Those areas:
Design↔code platform: how we translate between designs in Figma’s SceneGraph to code in customers’ Makes and production codebases
External platform: how external AI agents (Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, etc.) access Figma context using our MCP Server & REST APIs, how and when Figma’s AI products appear in other surfaces (Slack, Microsoft Teams, etc.)
As you drive platform strategy, you’ll:
Influence product roadmaps where platform capabilities create new product opportunities.
Partner with EM and tech leads to make key architecture and UX decisions.
Talk frequently with product teams, customers, and our partners & vendors, and distill learnings from those conversations into platform commitments.
Raise the bar for technical PMs at Figma: pattern-match across the four areas, surface cross-cutting problems, and pull peers and EMs into the calls that need them.
We'd love to hear from you if you have:
6+ years of product management experience working on highly technical products
Proven experience shipping developer tools, infrastructure products, or AI-powered technical systems
Shipped measurable quality improvements to a product: you can point to the metrics that moved and how you moved them
Hands-on technical fluency: you've built and shipped things yourself — at work, in side projects, or in open source — and you can read a PR, you can participate actively in architecture conversations
Strong systems thinking: you understand how complex components interact and can improve the whole, not just the parts
Technical communication: You distill highly technical concepts into clear decisions and direction
A track record of driving strategy and execution across ambiguous, fast-moving product areas
At Figma, one of our values is Grow as you go. We believe in hiring smart, curious people who are excited to learn and develop their skills. If you’re excited about this role but your past experience doesn’t align perfectly with the points outlined in the job description, we encourage you to apply anyways. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.

Solutions Consultant, Payload
Figma · San Francisco, CA • New York, NY • United States
The ideal candidate will have a strong testing background, be comfortable collaborating in a dynamic, often ambiguous environment where priorities shift quickly, and demonstrate leadership, technical competence, and a passion for quality.
This is a full time role that can be held from one of our US hubs or remotely in the United States.
What you'll do at Figma:
Develop expertise in Figma's products and customer journeys, from Product Designers to Developers, to accurately diagnose sophisticated bugs
Interact with Figma customers daily via support channels such as chat, email, or video calls, taking ownership over complex problems
Contribute to social support efforts by engaging with customers and users on social media and community platforms
Own end-to-end troubleshooting of complex technical issues as the primary point of contact, partnering with Engineering and Product to report bugs, drive resolution, and maintain clear, proactive communication to improve customer satisfaction
Adapt to supporting customers across multiple products — including billing, account management, and occasional weekend or holiday coverage — to ensure global customer support
Recommend tooling and process improvements to enhance how the team manages and diagnoses bugs
Collaborate cross-functionally as a subject matter expert to help develop customer-facing and internal documentation, including training materials
Act as the voice of the customer by identifying trends and communicating insights to our Product and Engineering teams to advocate for bug fixes, tooling and process improvements, and feature enhancements
We'd love to hear from you if you have:
4+ years of experience working in a QA or Support environment for a technical SaaS product
Experience collaborating closely with Engineering and Product teams
Troubleshooting and debugging experience across multiple platforms (Mac, Windows, iOS, and Android)
Consultative communication skills with the ability to tailor messaging for technical and non-technical audiences, translating complex concepts into concise explanations
Demonstrated resilience and adaptability, with motivation to experiment, build, and collaborate across teams even amid change or ambiguity
While not required, it's an added plus if you also have:
Experience working with design tools like Figma, Adobe Suite, Sketch, Framer
Ability to read and write Spanish, Portuguese, Japanese, Korean, German, or French
At Figma, one of our values is Grow as you go. We believe in hiring smart, curious people who are excited to learn and develop their skills.
