THE OPPORTUNITY
We're looking for a Staff Analytics Engineer to be the technical anchor of one of Kin's analytics engineering teams — the person who makes your team's slice of our shared data model correct, durable, and trusted.
Within the Data Engineering organization, Analytics Engineering turns raw, domain-owned data into a shared, trusted semantic model of the business. As Kin moves to a data mesh — where domain teams own their data as products on a shared, self-serve platform — and adopts an ontology-driven source of truth, each analytics engineering team owns a meaningful piece of that model. You'll own the hardest modeling and design problems in your team's scope, from the ontology objects that represent your slice of the business to the dimensional and semantic models that serve them downstream in BI and self-service. You'll also be a technical thought partner to the product and business leaders your team supports — going deep enough on their goals to turn ambiguous needs into clear, durable technical plans. Understanding the business is part of the craft here, not someone else's job.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Own the hardest modeling and architecture in your team's scope — ontology objects (types, properties, link types, and actions) that model your part of the business as it actually operates, and the dimensional and semantic models (e.g., Looker/LookML) that serve them downstream
- Act as a technical thought partner to the product and business leaders your team supports: understand their goals deeply and translate ambiguous or conflicting business needs into clear, durable technical plans
- Take end-to-end ownership of your team's most business-critical initiatives, where deep semantic and architectural judgment is the differentiator
- Align your team's models with shared representations of core entities (customer, policy, claim) so they stay consistent and interoperable across the mesh — partnering with the Principal Engineer and peers where definitions are cross-cutting
- Define the modeling patterns, naming conventions, and reference implementations your team builds on, and contribute them back to the discipline's shared standards
- Drive data-as-a-product expectations within your team's scope — ownership, contracts, documentation, and reliability for what your team owns
- Partner with domain data engineers to shape the data contracts and pipelines that feed clean, well-defined ontology objects, and surface upstream issues that degrade your team's models
- Raise the technical bar through model and design review, pairing, mentorship, and contributions to hiring and onboarding
- Set your team's patterns for applying Claude and Claude Code to analytics engineering work, and design the ontology and semantic layer to be AI-consumable so tools like Databricks Genie can reason over your team's data reliably
SUCCESS IN THIS ROLE
In your first 6–12 months at Kin, success is less about checking boxes and more about the impact you create. You’ll use your skills and judgment to take ownership of meaningful work, improve how we operate, and help move Kin’s mission forward. Along the way, you’ll deliver outcomes that make a real difference for both Kinfolk and the homeowners we serve.
By the end of your first year, you should feel confident in your role, trusted as an owner, and proud of the progress you’ve helped make.
- The hardest modeling problems in your team's scope are solved durably — your team's ontology objects and presentation-layer models are stable, documented, and trusted by the business partners who depend on them
- Product and business partners bring you in early on their hardest problems and trust the technical direction you set
- Your team builds on the patterns you've established without needing your review on routine work, measurably reducing bottlenecks
- A previously intractable modeling problem in your team's domain is solved and documented as a reference others across the mesh can follow
WHAT YOU’LL BRING
- 8+ years in analytics engineering, BI engineering, or data modeling roles, with a track record of being the technical anchor on complex, cross-cutting data work
- Deep expertise in semantic and data modeling — and the judgment to know when an ontology-driven model, a dimensional model, or both is the right tool
- Hands-on experience with an ontology or object-based semantic layer (e.g., Palantir Foundry Ontology), or strong transferable modeling experience and the appetite to go deep
- Fluency in dimensional modeling for presentation/BI consumption (e.g., Looker/LookML) downstream of a source-of-truth model
- Experience with data mesh, data-as-a-product, and domain-oriented architecture — or strong, well-reasoned conviction about how federated data ownership should work
- Experience with modern lakehouse platforms (e.g., Databricks) operated as a shared, self-serve data platform
- Demonstrated technical leadership and influence without formal authority — you move a team and its partners through credibility, clarity, and example
- Strong written and verbal communication, especially when navigating ambiguity, tradeoffs, or disagreement
- Comfort applying Claude, Claude Code, and Databricks-native AI tools in day-to-day analytics engineering work
Bonus if you have:
- Python, Git-based workflows, or transformation frameworks such as SQLMesh or dbt
- Experience with Foundry Pipeline Builder/Functions or performance tuning at scale

HOW WE WORK
We don’t just hire for skills. We hire for alignment. Kinfolk bring diverse perspectives, but we’re united by a shared set of values that shape how we work and how we show up for each other and our customers.
Run through walls, together - Every one of us is responsible for creating the culture we want to work in. High performance. Low drama. Always respectful. Act like an owner - We are owners, fully accountable for achieving Kin’s mission. That requires positive, proactive, big-picture thinking well beyond our job descriptions. Ask questions, Take ownership. Do the right thing, even when it‘s hard. Because when Kin thrives, so do you. And so do our customers.
Operate lean. Deliver more - We build efficiency into everything we do. Each dollar we save gets reinvested to deliver more to our customers: better pricing, more products, and new innovations. We work smarter by relentlessly prioritizing and using technology, including AI, to multiply our impact. Lean is about focus, not deprivation. Lean isn't a limitation — it's our competitive advantage.
Keep asking ‘What if?’ - We value curiosity. To make insurance better for our customers, we experiment. We embrace insights. And we base decisions on data rather than assumptions. We see setbacks as opportunities for growth and are always learning and improving. Both individually and as a company.

QUICK SUMMARY
Kin's long-term vision is to become the most trusted platform for homeownership. We believe homeowners should be able to protect, finance, maintain, and improve their homes through a single relationship. Insurance is where we started. THE OPPORTUNITY
Kin is building the platform for modern homeownership. We've expanded from home insurance into auto, flood, property tax appeals, and home financing. The next challenge is making all of it work together, and doing it efficiently enough that launching and maintaining the next product is cheaper than the last. We're hiring a Director of Product Management which will oversee two of the highest-leverage bets to accomplish that:
- Policy Platform: Your mandate is to help Kin move from insurance company economics to platform economics, where every new product launched makes the next one faster, cheaper, and easier to build and maintain. Today, launching a new product requires significant engineering time because we rebuild much of the operational infrastructure. The vision is configurable policy event engines, a normalized data architecture, and a single source of truth for product rules and coverages across every Kin product.
- Kin Customer Portal: You'll oversee the product strategy for the digital destination where homeowners protect, finance, maintain, and improve their homes. The experience has to work as one product, not a bunch of handoffs so customers choose to get more Kin products because every product they add makes the others better.
The Policy Platform enables Kin to launch new products as configuration rather than custom engineering. The Customer Portal enables Kin to evolve from episodic insurance transactions into continuous homeowner relationships.
This is a people management role. You'll build and develop a team of PMs, set the standard for product quality across both areas, and serve as a thought partner to engineering, design, and executive leadership on some of the most consequential architecture decisions Kin will make.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Define and own the multi-year product strategy for Kin's policy platform and customer experience, translating long-term business goals into a clear, sequenced roadmap
- Lead, develop, and hire a team of product managers; raise the bar on craft, analytical rigor, and cross-functional collaboration across the team
- Make the hard prioritization calls between foundational platform work (where the customer is internal and the feedback loop is slow) and customer-facing product work (where the signal is faster and the stakes are visible)
- Partner with engineering lead to develop the platform's API strategy and configuration model, ensuring Kin can launch new products and respond to regulatory changes
- Drive the Home Hub from its current foundation into the digital destination for customers to manage their existing products and a marketplace to sell them the next
- Partner with Engineering, Design, Actuarial, Underwriting, Finance, and Legal to make cross-functional coordination fast and low-friction on work that requires all of them
- Define success metrics for your domain, keep them visible across the business, and use them to sharpen roadmap decisions over time
- Partner with engineering and data science leaders to ensure AI-native workflows, automation, and intelligence capabilities are embedded into both platform and customer experiences
SUCCESS IN THIS ROLE
By the end of your first year:
- A clear, sequenced platform roadmap is in place; engineering is building against it with confidence, and dependent teams are not blocked
- The Home Hub has a defined product strategy that increases customer retention and average revenue per customer overtime through multi-product adoption
- Your team is stronger than when you arrived: PMs are getting better, standards are higher, and there's a clear bar for what good looks like – especially as we navigate how the PM role is evolving with advent of AI
- Platform configuration and API standards are documented and being adopted consistently, so new products are configuration, not custom implementations
- The path to launching and maintaining new products is measurably faster and requires significantly less custom engineering effort than it did a year earlier.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING
- 12+ years of professional experience, with at least 8 years in software product management and at least 3 years managing and developing PM teams
- Proven ownership of both platform/infrastructure products and consumer-facing products; you can hold both modes simultaneously without defaulting to one
- Experience with platform modernization or re-platforming at scale, including sequencing migrations without disrupting dependent teams
- Technical fluency sufficient to contribute to architecture and data model conversations and understand the downstream implications of platform decisions for reliability, scalability, and regulatory compliance
- Experience in Fintech, Insurtech, or financial services where pricing logic, regulatory constraints, and customer trust were all constraints at the same time
- Track record of building PM talent, not just shipping great products yourself
- Written and verbal communication calibrated for both technical and executive audiences
Bonus if you have:
- Familiarity with insurance policy administration systems or consumer financial platforms
- Experience building or scaling a multi-sided product ecosystem (platform plus consumer-facing layer)

Growth Marketing Manager, Paid Social & Display
Kin Insurance · United States
Pay
$106k–115k
Setting
Remote
Quick Summary
You own paid social & display end-to-end at a fast-growing insurtech — media buying, audience strategy, creative testing, and remarketing. Meta expertise required; 4–7 years in digital acquisition.
Who We Are
Kin makes life simpler, more affordable, and better for homeowners — especially in the places where climate risks, rising costs, and outdated systems make it hardest. We start with smarter homeowners insurance and expand to everything homeowners need to thrive.
Using data, technology, and thoughtful human support, we're building products that are clear, fair, and help homeowners feel confident — so homeowners aren't left behind when they need help most.
Founded in 2016, Kin is a remote-first employer with Kinfolk across more than 35 states. We serve customers in 14 states (and counting). Our disciplined growth, strong customer satisfaction, and focus on long-term sustainability fosters outstanding growth, attracts marquee investors, and earns recognition and accolades, including:
- Built In Chicago's Best Places to Work, Midsize Companies (2021-2026)
- Forbes' America's Best Startup Employers (2026)
- Inc. 5000 Fastest-Growing Private Companies
- Forbes' Fintech 50 (2023-2026)
- Great Places to Work Certified (2024-2026)
Most importantly, we're building Kin to be a place where people do meaningful work with real impact — for our customers, our communities, and each other. We're excited to tell you more about how you can contribute to our rapid growth, strong unit economics, profitability, and excellent customer ratings. The Opportunity
We're looking for a Growth Marketing Manager to launch and scale paid social and display channels that represent a meaningful opportunity for Kin's new customer acquisition strategy. Your north star is efficient growth: scaling paid social volume while executing campaigns in a way that proves the incremental impact of the channel on new revenue.
This is a hands-on individual contributor role — you build the plan and execute it. You'll own decision-making on media buying, audience strategy, and creative optimization, leveraging your instincts alongside data-driven insights to make paid social and display core pillars of how Kin grows.
Your Responsibilities
- Own Kin's paid social campaigns end-to-end — audience targeting, bid strategy, ad concepts, and budget allocation — with an initial focus on scaling spend on Meta and expanding to additional platforms as value is proven out
- Build and optimize display and programmatic advertising campaigns across the Google Display Network and other relevant placements, driving awareness and consideration among target homeowner audiences with a sharp eye on downstream conversion metrics
- Lead Kin's remarketing and retargeting strategy across paid social and display, building audience segments based on site behavior, quote progress, policy status, and price competitiveness to turn abandoned quotes into bound policies
- Define audience strategy for both prospecting and retargeting across paid social and display, demonstrating deep knowledge of Kin's target customer and the right platform-specific levers to pull
- Develop creative briefs and testing roadmaps in partnership with the design team, running structured tests across copy, visuals, formats, and CTAs to continuously improve performance
- Monitor campaign performance daily and drive data-driven optimizations to hit efficiency and volume targets, partnering with Marketing Analytics to build reporting that produces meaningful, actionable reads on every test
- Partner cross-functionally with Organic Social, Product, Marketing Analytics, and Brand & Content teams to achieve acquisition goals
- Use LLMs, including Claude, to accelerate iteration and execution — taking campaigns from idea to in-market faster and enhancing performance analysis once campaigns are live
Success in This Role
In your first 6–12 months at Kin, success is less about checking boxes and more about the impact you create. You'll use your skills and judgment to take ownership of meaningful work, improve how we operate, and help move Kin's mission forward. Along the way, you'll deliver outcomes that make a real difference for both Kinfolk and the homeowners we serve.
By the end of your first year, you should feel confident in your role, trusted as an owner, and proud of the progress you've helped make.
- Paid social has been established as a proven acquisition channel, with volume scaled efficiently and incrementality demonstrated through rigorous testing
- A structured creative testing program is in place and producing consistent performance improvements, with a clear roadmap for what to test next
- Remarketing and retargeting programs are converting abandoned quotes into bound policies at a measurable rate across paid social and display
- Kin has a clear, documented audience strategy for both prospecting and retargeting — and the data to know what's working and why
What You'll Bring
- 4–7 years of experience in paid social, display, or digital media buying, ideally in a high-growth, insurance, or fintech environment
- Hands-on Meta Ads Manager expertise, including 3+ years running Meta campaigns directly with working knowledge of auction dynamics, conversion tracking, and ad products
- Google Display Network and programmatic display experience
- Proven track record growing paid acquisition volume while improving CAC
- Experience building and scaling remarketing and retargeting programs across channels, including audience segmentation strategies (custom, lookalike, and behavioral)
- Strong analytical fluency — comfortable pulling and interpreting campaign data, and conversant in incrementality, attribution, and CAC/LTV
- Familiarity with pixel implementation, conversion tracking, and attribution modeling
- Experience developing creative briefs and running structured creative and landing page tests
- Effective cross-functional collaborator across Creative, Lifecycle Marketing, and Analytics; able to operate independently and drive decisions without a lot of oversight
- Comfortable using AI and LLM tools to accelerate work

THE OPPORTUNITY
We're looking for an experienced Product Manager to own the evolution of Kin's core platform — the foundational layer that powers policy and contract administration, billing systems, payment infrastructure, and the APIs that connect it all.
This is a individual contributor role with real organizational weight. You'll shape multi-year platform strategy, set the standard for product excellence on the team, and serve as a thought partner to engineering and business leadership at a moment when platform stability and scalability are central to Kin's continued growth. If you've navigated legacy modernization, API-first architecture, and the regulatory complexity of financial services or insurance — and you know what it means to treat internal teams as customers — this is the role for you.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Define and drive the long-term platform strategy for policy administration, billing, and payment systems, translating business goals into a clear, sequenced roadmap
- Serve as the platform's primary product voice with engineering, architecture, and senior leadership; align stakeholders on priorities and trade-offs with clarity and confidence
- Lead discovery on complex, ambiguous platform problems — defining the right problem before the solution, grounding every decision in data, user research, and business impact
- Own the platform's API strategy, ensuring internal and external consumers have reliable, well-documented, and versioned interfaces that let the business move fast without breaking things
- Drive solutions from early prototype to full production rollout in close partnership with data, design, and engineering
- Write crisp, comprehensive product specs and user stories that give engineering teams the context and clarity they need to build with confidence
- Define, own, and evangelize platform success metrics; use data to drive continuous improvement and communicate impact across the business
- Mentor and elevate other product managers on the team, modeling rigor, intellectual curiosity, and collaborative leadership
- Manage key vendor relationships — particularly across payment processors and third-party policy administration systems — ensuring contracts and integrations serve long-term platform goals
- A clear, sequenced multi-year platform roadmap is in place, stakeholders are aligned on priorities, and engineering is building against it with confidence
- Platform API standards are defined, documented, and being adopted consistently by internal and external consumers
- Key modernization or migration work is underway with dependent teams unblocked and on track
- Platform success metrics are established, visible across the business, and actively informing roadmap decisions
WHAT YOU’LL BRING
- 8+ years of professional experience, with at least 6 years in software product management
- Proven ownership of platform or infrastructure products at a Fintech, Insurtech, or similarly regulated financial services company
- Experience leading platform modernization or re-platforming initiatives, including sequencing migrations without disrupting dependent teams
- Technical fluency sufficient to hold your own in architecture conversations and understand the downstream implications of platform decisions for reliability, scalability, and security
- Vendor management experience with payment processors, policy administration vendors, or third-party data providers
- Written and verbal communication skills calibrated for both technical and executive audiences — you write clearly, present confidently, and tailor your message to the room
Bonus if you have:
- Deep familiarity with insurance policy administration systems, billing platforms, or payment infrastructure (e.g., Guidewire, Duck Creek, Stripe, Braintree, or equivalents)
- Experience with homeowners, property & casualty, or specialty insurance products
- Exposure to regulatory and compliance frameworks in financial services

The opportunity
We’re looking for a Senior Pricing Actuary to strengthen and evolve Kin’s actuarial pricing capabilities as we scale our homeowners portfolio. This role exists to ensure rate adequacy, sharpen segmentation, and elevate the technical rigor of our pricing analyses in a rapidly changing risk environment.
Reporting to the Director, Actuarial Pricing, you’ll operate as a highly technical individual contributor — building and refining indications, integrating catastrophe and reinsurance impacts, and modernizing workflows through automation and Generative AI tools. You’ll partner closely with actuarial leadership, insurance product, and technology teams to translate complex analyses into decisions that directly impact growth, profitability, and customer value.
Your responsibilities
- Build and deploy tools using Generative AI and advanced analytics to automate pricing workflows and improve analytical insight.
- Perform statewide and segmented actuarial pricing indications for homeowners insurance products, ensuring rate adequacy and sound risk segmentation.
- Develop and enhance pricing methodologies by incorporating loss trends, expense assumptions, reinsurance costs, and catastrophe modeling outputs.
- Reconcile actuarial indications with financial performance and business objectives in partnership with actuarial leadership.
- Prepare actuarial support for rate filings, including exhibits, documentation, and responses to regulatory inquiries.
- Partner with insurance product teams to support rate changes, pricing reviews, and state expansion initiatives.
- Lead class plan builds and pricing support for new state launches and product expansions.
- Pull, clean, and validate data for CAT modeling; run catastrophe models and analyze results to inform ratemaking decisions.
- Collaborate with technology and data teams to improve data quality, automate analyses, and modernize pricing pipelines.
- Monitor regulatory developments, market trends, catastrophe activity, and structural changes that impact pricing strategy.
- Pricing indications are timely, technically rigorous, and clearly reconciled to financial results and business strategy.
- New actuarial tools meaningfully reduce manual work and improve decision-making through automation and advanced analytics.
- CAT modeling and reinsurance impacts are consistently and accurately integrated into ratemaking analyses.
- Actuarial pipelines and documentation are reliable, transparent, and scalable to support continued state expansion and product growth.
What you’ll bring
- FCAS or Career ACAS designation.
- 5+ years of actuarial experience in personal lines pricing.
- Demonstrated expertise in actuarial pricing techniques, including indications, trend analysis, and risk segmentation.
- Hands-on experience using SQL and Python (preferred) or R for data analysis and model development.
- Experience independently executing technically rigorous actuarial analyses.
- Proficiency in Excel for advanced modeling and analysis.
- Curiosity and practical experience leveraging Generative AI tools to improve actuarial processes.
Bonus:
- Direct experience with Florida, Texas, and/or California residential property insurance.
- Experience supporting rate filings and responding to DOI inquiries.
- Experience working with large datasets and modern analytics workflows.
- Predictive modeling experience, particularly loss cost modeling.
- Experience in an insurtech or high-growth environment.
- Hands-on experience with Git/GitHub in a collaborative team setting.
- Advanced experience applying Generative AI tools in actuarial or analytics workflows.

THE OPPORTUNITY
We’re looking for a Staff Software Engineer to help us scale the architecture, systems, and engineering practices that power Kin’s rapid growth.
As a recognized subject matter expert across multiple technologies, you’ll play a high-impact role shaping full-stack architecture and influencing technical strategy across teams. You won’t just write code — you’ll define standards, guide architectural decisions, and ensure our systems are scalable, reliable, and aligned with business priorities.
This role exists because Kin is growing quickly. As we expand products, states, and customer experiences, we need senior technical leadership that can anticipate scaling challenges, reduce technical risk, and mentor engineers to execute at a high level. Your work will directly impact our ability to deliver fast, resilient applications for both customers and internal teams.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead and define full-stack architecture within scrum team, setting a clear technical vision aligned with business goals
- Write clean, maintainable, and efficient Ruby and TypeScript code while modeling engineering excellence
- Own architectural planning, design, and documentation for distributed, full-stack systems
- Identify, evaluate, and mitigate technical risks before they impact delivery or scalability
- Mentor engineers at all levels through pair programming, design reviews, and technical coaching
- Partner with Product and Design to translate business needs into scalable technical solutions
- Drive continuous improvement through refactoring, test automation, experimentation, and modern engineering practices
- Influence Kin’s broader architectural strategy by collaborating with engineering leadership and cross-functional stakeholders
- Deliver fast, reliable, and scalable applications that support both customer-facing and internal platforms
- Help scale our systems and teams to support Kin’s next phase of growth
SUCCESS IN THIS ROLE
In your first 6–12 months at Kin, success is less about checking boxes and more about the impact you create. You’ll use your skills and judgment to take ownership of meaningful work, improve how we operate, and help move Kin’s mission forward. Along the way, you’ll deliver outcomes that make a real difference for both Kinfolk and the homeowners we serve.
By the end of your first year, you should feel confident in your role, trusted as an owner, and proud of the progress you’ve helped make.
- Multiple scrum teams are aligned to a cohesive architectural vision that improves scalability and reduces technical debt
- Key systems are measurably more reliable, performant, and easier to evolve
- Engineering teams move faster with clearer standards, better documentation, and stronger technical mentorship
- Stakeholders understand the value of technical investments and make informed decisions about trade-offs and priorities
WHAT YOU’LL BRING
Technical & Domain Expertise
- 8+ years of professional software engineering experience
- Expert proficiency in full-stack development, using Ruby on Rails and Typescript (experience with Angular preferred)
- Proficiency with SQL and relational databases (PostgreSQL preferred), with exposure to NoSQL systems
- Experience designing and implementing scalable, distributed, and event-driven systems
- Demonstrated experience in architectural planning, system design, and technical documentation
- Proven ability to identify and mitigate technical risks in complex systems
Leadership & Execution
- Experience leading and guiding multiple engineering teams through execution
- Ability to operate with little-to-no technical guidance
- Experience mentoring engineers across different levels of seniority
- Ability to clearly articulate the value of technical investments to non-technical stakeholders
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex concepts
You thrive in a high-growth startup environment — fast-paced, ownership-driven, and mission-focused — and you’re motivated to continue learning while elevating those around you.

HOW WE WORK
We don’t just hire for skills.
We assume the best in each other and challenge ideas, not intentions. We show up, work hard, and play to each other's strengths — because that’s how great teams win.
Raise the bar. Drop the ego - Attitudes are contagious. Every one of us is responsible for creating the culture we want to work in. High performance. Low drama. Always respectful. Like professional sports teams, we win by working in sync. We show up, work hard, and play to each other’s strengths.
