About Nirvana The $1 trillion commercial insurance industry is broken, still running on paperwork and fax machines. Rates are disconnected from actual risk, quotes take weeks, and claims drag on for months. Nirvana is changing that - using data and AI to reimagine insurance from the ground up.
We’ve built cutting-edge predictive models using 50B+ miles of proprietary IoT data, and AI-powered underwriting and claims to be >4x faster. We’ve proven the model with $300M+ run-rate, industry-leading loss ratios and are backed by marquee VCs like Lightspeed, General Catalyst and Valor.
We're now expanding beyond an AI-native insurer into a broader platform - multiple businesses transforming the entire insurance value chain. This is a unique opportunity to be at the forefront of shaping a new paradigm in AI and insurance.
The role As Chief of Staff, you’d sit at the center of the business and work directly with Rushil on the most strategic initiatives across the company. You’d scale how we operate, solve the most critical problems and define new avenues for growth, especially where ownership is unclear.
This is NOT a coordination role. We’re looking for someone who can operate in ambiguous and demanding environments, holds extremely high standards and has the ability to move from board-level strategy to execution detail without compromise.
For the right person who wants to build, this is the perfect accelerant to owning your own P&L, ideally within Nirvana as we continue to expand or even beyond. Success here isn’t being in this role forever - it’s the opportunity to start something with Rushil’s full backing.
Responsibilities include:
Drive clarity around critical decisions, separate signal from noise and follow-through until they become outcomes
Own high-priority projects and cross-functional initiatives that don’t have a natural home yet
Scale our operating rhythms with a high bar for impact - business reviews, off-sites, planning and more
Proactively identify and solve bottlenecks across the company
Run board and investor prep, and help shape how we tell our story externally
Who we're looking for
5+ years experience in high-ownership roles: we’re not wedded to a specific pedigree, we want smart generalists from the likes of consulting, finance, product, business operations, military, founder/CEO office, etc. Most important is to have operating experience in fast-moving environments
Previous founding experience strongly preferred, even if it didn’t work
Strategic and analytical thinker
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Bias-to-action and self-driven: you move fast and build things yourself with an AI-native mindset
Thrive in high-growth environments with limited direction
Very high judgment and maturity with sensitive, high-stakes information
High agency, low ego: you’re willing to do whatever the company needs
Executive presence and influence: you can push back, when necessary, on experienced leaders
We set our salary ranges using compensation data from companies similar to our stage and size. For this role, the estimated total cash for this position is $180,000- $300,000. The actual total cash salary will vary depending on multiple factors unique to each candidate, including location, job-related knowledge, transferable skills, work experience and our assessment of your level during the interview process. Nirvana offers equity for all full-time employees, which is not included in the range listed above and will have an impact on your overall compensation.
If you’re interested in this role, but do not meet 100% of the qualifications listed above, we encourage you to apply. We'd like to consider you for this position and roles that may be a fit in the future.

Who we are:
Nirvana is on a mission to modernize commercial insurance and enable a safer world. Our AI-driven technology platform delivers modern insurance and risk management to help our customers protect their businesses and to improve the safety of their operations.
We've already proven the scale—serving thousands of fleets and more than doubling our written premiums year over year. Our data moat is growing exponentially with more than 30 billion miles of telematics data, leading to more predictive models and new insights into how we can better understand and reduce risk.
With $270+ million raised, including our Series D round in December 2025, we're only accelerating our growth, with strong support from top-tier VCs including Lightspeed, General Catalyst, and Valor. Nirvana's leadership team has previously helped scale multi-billion-dollar companies from scratch, including Samsara, Rubrik, and Flexport, and includes industry veterans from Hiscox, The Hartford, and RLI.
About the role:
In this role, you'll serve as a trusted strategic advisor to senior leadership across two fast-growing, AI-native businesses: an AI-native claims TPA and an AI-native platform for insurance.
As a strategic partner to senior leadership, you'll influence some of the company's most important decisions—from where we invest and how we scale to how we build an AI-native finance organization. You'll work cross-functionally, connecting strategy, finance, operations, and execution to help drive the business forward.
This is a high-impact, high-autonomy role for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment. You'll tackle the company's biggest challenges, lead cross-functional initiatives, and help build AI-first systems, processes, and operating rhythms that will define our next stage of growth.
What you’ll do:
Partner directly with senior leadership to shape company strategy, driving decisions on growth, investments, capital allocation, and organizational priorities
Lead high-impact, cross-functional initiatives that improve business performance, partnering with leaders across Product, Engineering, Operations, Go-to-Market, Recruiting, and People from identifying opportunities through execution
Design the operating rhythms that help the company scale, including planning, forecasting, performance management, and company-wide decision-making processes.
Define the company's long-term financial strategy, including fundraising, strategic planning, and/or evaluating new business opportunities.
Directly shape how we build an AI-native finance organization, reimagining how AI augments every part of the workflows, from planning, analysis, decision-making, to execution
About you:
4-6 years of experience across management consulting, investment banking, private equity, Strategic Finance or Business Operations roles in high-growth companies
Proficiency in complex financial modeling and planning
Comfortable working cross-functionally with multiple teams, building strong relationships, and driving alignment in an ambiguous, fast-moving environment.
Demonstrated outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication skills with the ability to simplify and articulate complex financial concepts to diverse stakeholders, from executives to operators.
Hands-on operator: comfortable digging into the details with teams, implementing solutions, and iterating quickly - not just producing metrics or analysis.
Detail-oriented and execution-focused, with the resilience to thrive in a high-performance, fast-paced setting.
Benefits:
Competitive salary & equity
Medical, dental & vision insurance
401k with company match
Unlimited PTO
3 days/week in SF office

Nirvana is on a mission to harness the power of data to revolutionize commercial insurance and enable a safer world. We are bringing much-needed innovation into the legacy, trillion-dollar commercial insurance industry. This is a high-visibility, high-autonomy role for someone who wants to shape strategy at a fast-growing InsureTech company, not just execute on a predefined playbook.
What you'll do:
Lead full-lifecycle M&A transactions from investment thesis development through sourcing, diligence, negotiation, deal structuring, legal documentation, and closing for both insurance and claims acquisitions
Build and manage direct and intermediary relationships to source proprietary deal flow and stay ahead of market opportunities in the MGA and claims sectors
Identify, structure, and launch strategic partnerships, particularly around data acquisition opportunities that strengthen Nirvana's underwriting and risk models
Scope, negotiate, and launch large commercial deals involving data assets and other strategic resources that support Nirvana's competitive moat
About you:
5+ years of experience in private equity, investment banking, or corporate development

Owner mentality — takes accountability for actions and results
Thrives in high-growth, ambiguous startup environments
