OP Labs
Overview
Application
OP Labs builds Optimism, an open-source blockchain network that powers the next generation of financial infrastructure. Hundreds of companies, from the world's largest enterprises like Sony, Coinbase, Kraken, Uniswap, OKX, and Bitpanda to the most ambitious early-stage builders, use the OP stack to launch their own blockchains and bring their users onchain. Today, over 65% of Layer 2 activity on Ethereum runs through the OP stack.
We are a small team building at the speed of the ecosystem we support. We’re remote-friendly but the NYC office is our center of gravity. We've raised $178M from a16z, Paradigm, and others. We have our work cut out for us and are looking for exceptional people to join us.
OP Labs builds the OP Stack, powering over 50% of Ethereum's L2 activity. Our Protocol Team designs and operates the core specifications and clients defining the stack.
We are also building OP Enterprise, which enables major institutions inside and outside crypto—including Sony, Kraken, and Bitpanda—to launch and operate OP Stack chains. This creates opportunities to improve the underlying protocol while developing differentiated capabilities for enterprise chain operators. Near term projects may cover:
Developing kona-node and related Rust-based consensus-client infrastructure as a fully compatible and production-ready alternative to op-node
Implementing native account abstraction across the stack.
Developing premium protocol capabilities that support OP Enterprise
We are seeking mission-driven contributors who thrive on tackling complex computer science challenges while delivering high quality code with high-velocity.
What are the role responsibilities?
Own features through the full lifecycle: from architecture, implementation, and docs to deployment and monitoring. Working cross functionally to create maximum impact.
Build rigorous conformance and adversarial tests to ensure implementation compatibility.
Execute safe protocol upgrades and resolve complex availability/performance issues.
Use AI-assisted engineering tools effectively while maintaining rigorous standards for correctness, security, review, and technical ownership.
Skills and Experience
Professional record of shipping production software and maintainable Rust systems.
Deep knowledge of Ethereum (EVM, JSON-RPC, clients) and distributed systems.
Ability to navigate ambiguity and communicate complex design decisions effectively.
(Preferred) Familiarity with op-node, kona, or Reth implementations.
(Preferred) Ability to read and navigate production Go code while migrating behavior into Rust.
(Bonus) Proficiency in Solidity for system-level smart contracts.

About the role
We're looking for a Recruiter to own full-cycle hiring across technical and non-technical functions. You'll operate independently on important work, partner with hiring managers across Engineering, Product, GTM, and Ops, and proactively spot and close gaps in how we hire. This isn't a process-following role — it's for someone who raises their hand when something needs doing and makes it happen.
What you'll do
Own full-cycle recruiting for a mix of technical and non-technical roles
Source proactively to build pipelines, not just manage inbound
Identify and tackle recruiting gaps across your function and adjacent areas without waiting for direction
Partner with hiring managers to define roles, calibrate on candidates, and remove blockers
Understand team success metrics and tie your work directly to them
Strategize across functions — you're not heads-down in a silo
Maintain clean data hygiene in Ashby and provide clear status updates to stakeholders
Contribute to process improvements and interview frameworks
Help tell the OP Labs story to candidates, including those new to Web3
What we're looking for
5+ years of full-cycle recruiting experience in a fast-paced tech or crypto/Web3 environment
Proven ability to hire across both technical (engineering, infra) and non-technical (GTM) functions
Strong sourcing skills, building pipelines, not waiting for inbound
Someone who spots what's not on anyone's list and picks it up anyway
Experience with Ashby or a comparable ATS
Clear communicator with hiring managers and candidates; voices concerns when something doesn't add up
Comfortable operating independently on important work and connecting it to broader org goals
Actively seeks feedback and iterates on their approach
Bonus points
Experience recruiting in Web3 or crypto
Familiarity with token compensation structures
Experience at a company that went through rapid growth or a headcount reset

About the Role
We are looking for a Blockchain Solutions Architect to support Optimism’s enterprise and institutional adoption. This role sits at the intersection of sales, product, and engineering, and is critical to helping institutions evaluate, design, and deploy production-grade onchain systems using the OP Stack.
You will partner closely with the Sales, Product and Engineering teams to leverage Optimism’s technology into institution-ready solutions; supporting technical diligence, performance testing, architecture design, and integration planning for large and innovative enterprises.
What are the role responsibilities?
Support deal execution & technical validation
Act as the primary technical counterpart for enterprise and institutional partners during evaluations, pilots, and integrations into production systems
Lead technical discovery sessions covering architecture, performance, security, compliance, and operational requirements
Design and support test environments (e.g., devnets, performance benchmarks, cloud deployments, etc) to validate throughput, latency, and cost assumptions
Respond to detailed technical diligence from banks, asset managers, system integrators, and regulators
Bridge product, engineering, and customers
Translate enterprise requirements into clear technical feedback for OP Labs product and engineering teams
Help shape roadmap priorities related to institutional needs (e.g., performance, compliance tooling, privacy, sequencing models)
Support integrations with wallets, custody providers, cloud infrastructure, and system integrators (e.g., Fireblocks, AWS, SIs)
Enable partners for production readiness
Guide partners through OP Stack architecture, deployment models, upgrade paths, and operational best practices
Support documentation localization and technical enablement in Japanese
Help customers compare and migrate from private / permissioned experimentation to public or hybrid production deployments
What skills do you bring?
Experience
5+ years of experience as a Sales Engineer, Solutions Architect, or Technical Pre-Sales role
Background in blockchain infrastructure, cloud platforms, distributed systems, or financial infrastructure
Hands-on experience with Ethereum or EVM-based systems (Layer 1 or Layer 2 strongly preferred)
Experience working with regulated institutions (banks, asset managers, exchanges, payments firms) is a strong plus
Technical Skills
Strong understanding of blockchain architecture: sequencing, finality, rollups, smart contracts, and network operations
Familiarity with cloud infrastructure and production deployment environments
Ability to reason about performance, scalability, security, and operational tradeoffs
Comfortable explaining complex technical concepts to both engineers and non-technical stakeholders
Skills & Approach
Sharp strategic thinker who can map fragmented fintech value chains and craft compelling BD theses
Independent deal-closer who’s comfortable interfacing with C-level stakeholders and navigating multi-party partnerships
High agency operator who can build 0→1 partnerships, GTM strategies, and partner programs with minimal oversight
Strong communicator who can translate between business, technical, and ecosystem stakeholders across varying levels of crypto fluency
Comfortable navigating ambiguity in a fast-moving, frontier market and iterating quickly based on learnings
Culture & Mindset
Motivated to rebuild the global financial stack on open, composable rails
Low-ego and execution-oriented; value results over recognition
Thrive in collaborative, cross-functional teams but can also move quickly on your own
Always looking to create scalable impact via product, partnerships, or ecosystems

Role and Responsibilities
We’re hiring a Senior Product Manager to drive onchain adoption by fintechs and centralized crypto exchanges in the Optimism ecosystem.
Fintechs and crypto exchanges are rapidly moving their business onchain to serve as the most important distribution partners for bringing millions of users and billions in assets onchain. In this role, you’ll define the roadmap for enterprise-facing products that help these businesses expand their product suite and integrate DeFi functionality without sacrificing user experience.
As the creators of Optimism Mainnet and the infrastructure that powers all OP Stack chains, OP Labs is dedicated to enhancing Ethereum’s performance exponentially. We operate as a Public Benefit Corporation, aligning our mission with the greater public good by funding Ethereum public goods through our growth.
What are the role responsibilities?
Lead the Fintech & Exchange Roadmap: Define and execute product strategy across integrations, SDKs, and infrastructure that help fintechs and exchanges embed onchain services into their platforms.
Champion the Customer: Build deep expertise in fintechs and exchanges, understanding their needs around compliance, custody, and user experience. Translate those needs into products and partnerships that deliver measurable value.
Drive Adoption of Onchain Services: Launch and scale products that make it easier for enterprises to offer yield, trading, payments, and other onchain financial products to their users.
Partner with the Ecosystem: Collaborate and coordinate with DeFi protocols, infra providers, custodians, and chain operators to accelerate ecosystem growth.
Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Work with engineering, BD, design, and marketing to bring new products from concept to launch and iterate quickly.
What skills do you bring?
Experience: 5+ years of product management experience, ideally in fintech, consumer finance apps, or centralized crypto exchanges. Direct experience with onchain/DeFi products is a strong plus.
Customer-Driven: Strong ability to engage with enterprise partners, uncover pain points, and translate them into actionable product requirements.
Technical Aptitude: Comfortable working across custody, wallet infra, and protocol integrations to inform product decisions.
Domain Knowledge: Solid understanding of fintech product mechanics (e.g., trading, lending, payments) or exchange infrastructure.
Collaborative & Adaptable: Thrives in fast-moving environments with shifting priorities and rapidly developing regulatory landscape
Strong Communicator: Excellent written and verbal skills; able to articulate complex concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Mission-Aligned: Belief that blockchains can make financial services more open, efficient, and accessible to anyone.
What will you like about us?
We take care of our employees. Competitive compensation, fully paid medical, dental, and vision, and a 4% 401K match.
We take pride in the accomplishments of our teammates and support each other in doing the best work of our careers.
Our team is a diverse group of people from varied backgrounds. We cherish our eclecticism and consider it a great strength.
We're remote-friendly with an NYC office where we like to collaborate in person.
We think long-term. Our founders have been scaling Ethereum since 2015.
