Advocate for developer needs internally and help improve the customer implementation experience.
Cross-Functional Partnership
Partner closely with Customer Success to improve retention, adoption, customer health, and expansion.
Collaborate with Sales on technical expansion opportunities and strategic account growth.
Work with Product and Engineering to surface customer feedback, feature requests, integration blockers, and product gaps.
Contribute to internal knowledge bases, customer playbooks, onboarding materials, and best practices.
Help define what excellent post-sales technical engagement looks like at OpenRouter.
What We’re Looking For
4+ years of experience in a technical customer-facing role such as Forward Deployed Engineer, Solutions Engineer, Solutions Architect, Technical Account Manager, Developer Advocate, or Customer Engineer.
Strong software engineering fundamentals and ability to read, write, and debug production-quality code.

OpenRouter is the unified interface for AI inference, giving developers and organizations access to hundreds of models through a single API. Our platform helps teams choose, route, evaluate, and scale model usage across providers, making it easier to build production AI applications with the right model for every use case.
As inference becomes a core operating layer for modern software companies, OpenRouter helps customers move faster, reduce complexity, and get more value from the rapidly evolving model ecosystem.
About the Role
We’re looking for a Scaled Customer Success Manager, Startups to build and own the post-sale engine for OpenRouter’s startup ecosystem.
This is a builder role, not a scaled nurture role.
OpenRouter’s startup ecosystem is one of the company’s most important growth surfaces, powered in part by the OpenRouter for Startups program, which helps AI-native companies access credits, infrastructure, and multi-model tooling to build and scale faster.
Your job is to make that ecosystem work at scale.
You’ll own the startup customer journey from program approval and onboarding through activation, retention, expansion, and Enterprise readiness. You’ll also own day-to-day program operations and communications across the OpenRouter for Startups ecosystem, while helping launch new initiatives, workflows, and partner programs over time.
What You’ll Do
Build the Startup Success Engine
Own the scaled success motion for OpenRouter’s startup and scaled customer portfolio.
Partner cross-functionally to iterate and refine the operating system for startup activation, retention, growth, and Enterprise conversion.
Create and refine the workflows, dashboards, alerts, and playbooks that help the team understand which startups need attention, why they need it, and what action should happen next.
Turn manual customer success and program operations work into repeatable systems.
Drive Activation, Retention, and Growth
Own the start-up inbox, day-to-day program communications, and portfolio health across the startup segment.
Build scaled intervention workflows for customers showing risk signals.
Create activation paths that help startups reach first value quickly and understand how to use OpenRouter effectively.
Engineer Workflows and Automations
Build practical systems that make scaled customer success possible.
Use AI-native tools and automation to reduce manual work across onboarding, follow-up, risk detection, expansion identification, reporting, and feedback capture.
Own Startup Health and Expansion Signals
Define what “healthy” looks like for startup customers.
Segment the portfolio into cohorts.
Create the operating cadence for reviewing startup portfolio health.
Improve the Startup Program
Help evolve OpenRouter’s startup program into a scalable growth engine.
Improve the application, approval, onboarding, activation, communication, and follow-up experience.
Ensure approved startups get value quickly and have clear paths to scale.
Create Product Feedback Loops
Turn startup customer, founder, and partner interactions into structured product signal.
Build feedback loops that improve the experience for the entire startup ecosystem, not just one account at a time.
What We’re Looking For
You have managed a scaled customer portfolio, startup program operations, developer ecosystem, PLG customer base, or technical customer segment.
You are comfortable working with technical founders and developer-facing products.
You understand API-first businesses and can speak credibly about usage, latency, reliability, cost, integrations, and production adoption.
You are fluent in customer data and can use usage trends, support signals, product analytics, and revenue data to drive action.
You operate with a builder mindset and take ownership beyond your job description.
You do not default to manual touch points. You default to systems, repeatability, and leverage.
You’ll Stand Out If
You have experience in AI infrastructure, developer tools, API platforms, technical SaaS, or high-growth GenAI products.
You have worked with startup customers, founders, or startup programs.
You have experience with tools like HubSpot, Customer.io, Intercom, Zendesk, Linear, Retool, Zapier, Clay, Census, Hightouch, Mixpanel, Amplitude, or similar GTM / workflow / analytics platforms.
You can build your own agents, write SQL, build lightweight internal tools, create automations, or use AI-assisted workflows to move faster.
You have partnered with Sales on expansion, renewal, or Enterprise conversion motions.
You have built customer health dashboards, scaled onboarding journeys, portfolio review cadences, lifecycle programs, or product feedback loops.
You have strong instincts for which startups are likely to grow, which are likely to churn, and which need intervention.
What Success Looks Like
Within your first 2 weeks, you will understand the startup customer journey, map the current lifecycle, identify the highest-leverage activation and retention gaps, and define the first version of the startup health model.
Within your first 4 weeks, you will launch initial workflows.
Within your first 6 weeks, you will have built the first version of the scaled startup success operating system.
Longer term, success means higher startup activation, stronger retention, faster time-to-value.
If you don't think you meet all of the criteria below but still are interested in the job, please apply. Nobody checks every box, and we're looking for someone who is excited to join the team.

About OpenRouter
OpenRouter is the leading AI routing and infrastructure layer that enterprises use to access, manage, and optimize the best large language models across providers—without lock-in, capacity constraints, or unnecessary cost. We power the most advanced AI teams in the world by giving them the flexibility to move fast, scale confidently, and stay future-proof as models evolve.
As enterprise adoption of AI accelerates, OpenRouter sits at the center of how organizations operationalize LLMs across research, product, and production workloads.
About the Role
We're hiring Software Engineers for our Product team to build the surfaces our customers depend on — dashboards, admin tooling, billing and spend management, analytics, onboarding, and many other user-facing features that turn OpenRouter into a platform. You'll be working closely with PMs and our designer to ship. We have a small team focused on this surface today, so you'll have room to own pieces of the product end to end.
This role is ideal for engineers who love autonomy, value collaboration, and have a track record of shipping software that works. You’ll play a critical role in shaping our product as we scale, helping expand our platform’s features, and delivering exceptional experiences for our users.
What You'll Do
Build and ship high quality customer-facing products and features.
Own products from concept to production, ensuring they are performant, reliable, and delightful for users. Make good product and design decisions, and be open to feedback and collaborative creation.
Bring a strong product instinct — push back when something doesn't make sense, and propose your own ideas to help make our product even better.
Partner with product and design teams to shape what we build, not just how we build it.
Identify bottlenecks, build great monitoring, propose solutions, and optimize performance across both frontend and backend systems.
Help raise the bar for product quality, design polish, and craft as the team grows.
What We're Looking For
4+ years of experience shipping external-facing products as a full-stack or product engineer with strong product taste and judgment.
Proficient in React, TypeScript, Next.js, and JS runtimes.
High agency and a bias toward action; you talk to users, you iterate, you ship.
AI-forward in your workflow. You use coding agents often, found interesting ways to automate your work, and have opinions about what works and what doesn’t
Comfortable in a small, fast-moving environment where boundaries between teams are intentionally fluid.
Strong written communication and a collaborative working style with PMs and designers.
Nice to Haves
Prior experience at fast growing applied AI or product led companies
Experience building product in fast-moving, ambiguous industries.
Existing user of OpenRouter or active side projects in AI tooling.

As enterprise adoption of AI accelerates, OpenRouter sits at the center of how organizations operationalize LLMs across research, product, and production workloads.
About the Role
We're hiring a Software Engineer on our Platform team to own and scale the systems that route and serve millions of LLM requests every day. The business is growing at an unbelievable pace and we need help to ensure our platform can keep up. You'll work alongside a small team of engineers on owning our infrastructure, datastores, CI/CD pipeline and everything else at OpenRouter is built on. This is a hands-on IC role with broad surface area and little process between you and shipping.
What You'll Do
Own and evolve our edge and cloud infrastructure across Cloudflare, Google Cloud, and Vercel.
Scale and operate our data layer including Spanner, ClickHouse, and Postgres.
Ensure we are optimizing for performance when serving LLM inference as traffic rapidly grows.
Partner with engineering leadership on capacity, reliability, and cost across the routing layer, with ownership of the systems carrying production traffic.
Set the bar and playbook for how we run infrastructure and operations as the team grows — tooling, observability, on-call, and the patterns other engineers build against.
What We're Looking For
5+ years building and operating production infrastructure at companies where uptime, latency, and cost matter.
Proven experience with cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, Azure) and edge-first serverless platforms (e.g. Cloudflare Workers)
Deep expertise in operating large scale databases (e.g Postgres, Spanner, etc).
A full-stack TypeScript shop won't faze you; you can move across the stack when the platform needs it.
High agency and a bias toward action. You don't wait for tickets — you see the bottleneck and fix it.
AI-forward in your workflow. You use coding agents, MCPs, and LLMs heavily and have opinions about what works.
Pragmatic about tradeoffs between speed and simplicity.
Nice to Have
Existing user of OpenRouter, or active side projects in AI products/infrastructure or developer tooling.

As enterprise adoption of AI accelerates, OpenRouter sits at the center of how organizations operationalize LLMs across research, product, and production workloads.
About The Role
As a Customer Success Manager at OpenRouter, you will own a portfolio of hyper-growth, Enterprise accounts. Your goal is simple but demanding: Drive adoption, unlock outcomes and value, and lead inference growth. You will be the bridge between complex technical systems, clear business outcomes and commercial growth.
What You'll Do
Strategy and Adoption: You need to get into the weeds of what customers are building. Whether it’s an AI agent or a coding tool, you’ll create the plan that helps them use OpenRouter to its full potential.
Revenue and Outcome Ownership: You are responsible for keeping our customers around and helping them grow. You’ll lead the commercial talks and find ways to expand their usage across different product lines.
Strategic & Tactical Execution: One hour you’ll be presenting an ROI analysis to a CTO; the next, you’ll be diving into API documentation to help a lead engineer optimize their model routing. You enjoy translating from strategic to technical and back (on repeat).
Value Realization: Define and track "Success Criteria" for every customer. You will turn abstract AI goals into concrete ROI metrics, ensuring OpenRouter is a mission-critical partner and an important part of their AI strategy.
The Feedback Loop: Act as the data focused voice of the customer for our GTM, Product and Engineering teams, distilling learnings and friction points into roadmap priorities.
What We're Looking For
We are looking for a proactive AI Customer Success Manager. You don't wait for a customer to ask for help; you identify a drop in token usage or a new model release and reach out with a plan and strategy to drive adoption, value and growth.
Required Qualifications
AI-Native DNA: You have previously worked at an AI-first company (LLM labs, AI infrastructure, or high-growth GenAI apps). You understand the nuances of tokens, latency, context windows, and model routing.
Technical Platform Expertise: You come from a background in technical SaaS or API-first platforms. You are comfortable talking to developers and product managers in their own language.
Revenue Focused: You have a proven track record of owning a quota. You are comfortable navigating procurement, legal, and executive stakeholders to get a deal done.
Playbook Builder: You don’t just fix things once. You build the systems and guides that help us scale this to the next thousand customers.
Core Competencies
Strategic Agility: The ability to zoom out to the 10,000-foot view of the AI market and zoom in to the tactical details of a customer's implementation.
Commercial Grit: A proactive mindset regarding renewals and expansions. You see a renewal as an opportunity to re-sell the value, not a clerical task.
Analytical Rigor: You use data to tell a story. You can analyze usage trends to predict churn or identify a perfect moment for an upsell.
If you don't think you meet all of the criteria below but still are interested in the job, please apply. Nobody checks every box, and we're looking for someone who is excited to join the team.

About OpenRouter
OpenRouter is the unified interface for large language models. We route billions of tokens every month, helping developers build AI applications without worrying about provider lock-in, downtime, or complex integrations. We're a small, focused team backed by top-tier investors.
About the Role
We're looking for a Scaled Support Specialist who lives at the intersection of deep technical troubleshooting and exceptional human communication. You'll be the front line for developers integrating with OpenRouter's API — diagnosing complex issues across dozens of model providers, untangling new edge cases, and making sure every developer who reaches out feels like they have a partner, not a ticket number.
This is not a scripted helpdesk role. Our users are highly capable engineers building the next generation of AI applications, which means the problems they bring to us are complex, nuanced, and frequently novel. You'll encounter issues daily where there is no runbook. You'll need to figure it out, often with incomplete information, and usually before anyone else on the team has seen it either.
If you're the kind of person who reads API changelogs for fun, has strong opinions about error message quality, and gets genuine satisfaction from turning a frustrated developer into a happy one — keep reading.
What You'll Do
Troubleshooting & Problem Solving (Core Focus)
Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues across OpenRouter's API, spanning multiple LLM providers
Reproduce bugs in ambiguous environments — different SDKs, languages, frameworks, and auth configurations — using tools like curl, Postman, and small test apps
Read and interpret logs, headers, and request traces; identify whether the problem is client-side, OpenRouter-side, or an upstream provider issue vs. a user misconfiguration
Turn "it doesn't work" into actionable findings: exact steps to reproduce, clear hypotheses, and verified fixes or workarounds
Developer Communication & Advocacy
Respond to developer inquiries across support channels (email, Discord, GitHub) with clarity, empathy, and technical precision
Translate complex technical root causes into human-friendly explanations
Set expectations on timelines and next steps; provide proactive updates and close the loop
Identify patterns in support requests and advocate internally for documentation improvements, API design changes, or better messages
Self-Directed Research & Learning
Stay current with the rapidly evolving LLM ecosystem
Develop deep expertise in OpenRouter's routing logic, fallback behavior, rate limiting, streaming (SSE), and billing systems with minimal hand-holding
Bridge to Product & Engineering
Spot systemic issues underneath individual tickets and push for the fix that prevents 50 more
Identify trends in support volume to capture product feedback and inform roadmap priorities
Collaborate on improving the developer experience
What We're Looking For
4+ years in a technical support, developer support, solutions engineering, or similar role — ideally supporting an API or developer tools product
Exceptional troubleshooting instincts
Strong API fluency
Proficiency in at least one scripting language (Python or TypeScript)
Excellent written communication
Comfort with ambiguity
Genuine passion for AI and LLMs
Nice to Haves
Familiarity with the OpenAI SDK / Chat Completions API format
Experience with AI/ML frameworks like LangChain, LlamaIndex, or Hugging Face
Experience with observability tools (logging, tracing, metrics)
Experience scaling support operations — e.g., implementing AI-assisted support bots, building internal support dashboards, or creating automated triage workflows
Contributions to open-source projects or developer communities
Background in or exposure to ML/AI concepts beyond just using APIs (benchmarking, evals, fine-tuning)
