We are united by a shared sense of urgency to provide clean power for the world, particularly managing climate change while meeting growing global energy demand. You can read more about us in this letter from our founders.
Why This Role Matters
As Head of Logistics & Inventory, you will own the flow of material across Pacific Fusion, from supplier dock to production line to installation site. You will build and run logistics and inventory operations across our San Leandro, CA and New Mexico sites: freight, receiving, warehousing, inter-site transfers, shipping, and end-to-end inventory management. Your job is simple to state and hard to do: the right material, in the right place, at the right time so material availability never gates the build.
What You'll Do
Own logistics operations across all sites: inbound and outbound freight, carrier selection and management, customs/compliance for any international shipments, and cost and service-level performance.
Run receiving, warehousing, and shipping at each site, including layout, storage strategy, and material handling for large, high-value precision hardware.
Plan and execute inter-site transfers between San Leandro and New Mexico, including packaging, rigging coordination, and freight for oversized and sensitive equipment.
Own inventory management end to end: planning, min/max and safety stock strategy, cycle counting, root-causing discrepancies, and driving inventory record accuracy to world-class levels.
Drive ERP/MES discipline for all material transactions — clean data in, trusted data out — and partner on system implementation and improvement.
Partner with supply chain and planning on material availability, shortage escalation, and clear-to-build processes that protect the production schedule.
Support machine installation campaigns with staging, kitting, and site logistics so install teams have what they need when they need it.
Build and lead the logistics and inventory team across sites: warehouse leads, material handlers, inventory analysts, and logistics coordinators.
Establish KPIs and daily management for the function — inventory accuracy, dock-to-stock time, on-time delivery to the line, freight cost — and drive continuous improvement.
Set the standard for safety and housekeeping in all warehouse and material handling operations.
What You Bring
10+ years in logistics, warehousing, and inventory management for complex hardware (energy, aerospace, semiconductor equipment, automotive, or similar), including 3+ years leading teams.
Proven success standing up or scaling multi-site logistics and warehouse operations, ideally during a production ramp.
Deep command of inventory management fundamentals: cycle counting programs, record accuracy, planning parameters, and shortage management.
Hands-on ERP/MES experience, including implementations or major process rollouts.
Experience moving large, high-value, or sensitive equipment, including specialized packaging, rigging coordination, and freight.
A builder’s mindset — comfortable creating processes, systems, and teams from scratch in a fast-moving, ambiguous environment.
Strong cross-functional instincts — able to work daily with manufacturing, supply chain, engineering, and installation teams.
Bonus Points For
Experience supporting field installation or construction logistics for capital equipment.
Experience with a greenfield warehouse or site startup.
APICS/CPIM, CLTD, or lean/Six Sigma certification.
Location & Travel
This role is onsite and can be based at our San Leandro, CA Build Center or our New Mexico campus, with regular travel between sites. Presence at both sites during production ramps and machine installation campaigns is essential.
Pay Range:

We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.
Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.

About Pacific Fusion
Pacific Fusion was founded in 2023 with the mission to power the world with abundant, affordable, clean energy.
We are rapidly designing and building a pulser-driven inertial fusion system to achieve net facility gain (more fusion energy output than stored energy input). In parallel, we are developing the key components required to build affordable fusion systems.
Our plans are ambitious. We have raised over $900M so far from incredible investors, resourcing us to deliver on these plans. We are bringing together the best scientists, engineers, and operators from the fusion community, hard tech industry, and other sectors. We are united by a shared sense of urgency to provide clean power for the world, particularly managing climate change while meeting growing global energy demand. You can read more about us in this letter from our founders.
Why This Role Matters
We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Mechanical Engineer - Pulsed Power to design, build, operate, and advance our pulsed power systems — the core of our experimental fusion platform. This role is deeply hands-on and multidisciplinary, requiring expertise across high-voltage systems, controls, diagnostics, and data analysis. The ideal candidate combines strong technical depth with the ability to lead R&D workflows, collaborate across disciplines, and take ownership of system performance and development.

Acquire, process, and analyze data from pulsed power experiments to evaluate system performance and stability.
Develop tools and workflows for data collection, visualization, and interpretation.
Translate experimental results into actionable insights for next-generation pulser design.
Take ownership of pulsed power subsystem advancement and roadmap execution.
Lead design reviews, experimental planning, and technical documentation.
Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and plasma physics teams to iterate and improve designs.
Drive continuous improvement in reliability, efficiency, and diagnostic capability.
What You Bring
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Applied Physics, or a related field.
5+ years of demonstrated experience designing complex systems.
Experience designing, developing, testing and building prototype mechanical/electrical systems.
Proven ability to deliver complex R&D projects on schedule, from concept to prototype to validation.
Strong background in electronic design, control systems, and PLC software development.
Proficiency in circuit simulations (e.g., SPICE, PSCAD, COMSOL, or similar) and data analysis using Python, MATLAB, or equivalent tools.
Familiarity with engineering modeling and CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, ANSYS, or COMSOL Multiphysics).
Bonus Points For
Advanced degree (M.S. or Ph.D.) in Mechanical Engineering, Applied Physics, or a related field.
Prior experience with high-voltage pulsed systems for fusion, plasma research, or accelerator applications.
Hands-on experience integrating diagnostics and controls for high-energy experiments.

A "recently separated veteran" means any veteran during the three-year period beginning on the date of such veteran's discharge or release from active duty in the U.S. military, ground, naval, or air service.
An "active duty wartime or campaign badge veteran" means a veteran who served on active duty in the U.S. military, ground, naval or air service during a war, or in a campaign or expedition for which a campaign badge has been authorized under the laws administered by the Department of Defense.
An "Armed forces service medal veteran" means a veteran who, while serving on active duty in the U.S. military, ground, naval or air service, participated in a United States military operation for which an Armed Forces service medal was awarded pursuant to Executive Order 12985.

Expires 07/31/2029
Why are you being asked to complete this form?

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
