Senior Product Manager, Member Experience
We’re Sharp Performance
Our mission is to extend the service-life and health span of those who run toward danger: law enforcement, firefighters, and other frontline professionals. Burnout and attrition drain agencies of the people they can least afford to lose, and the existing tools (EAPs, generic wellness apps) were never built for this population.
We're building the platform that is. Sharp Performance delivers 1:1 coaching through a mobile product, pairing frontline professionals with coaches trained in cognitive performance methods from the U.S. Special Operations community. The product is early. The roadmap is wide open. The people who join now will shape both.
We're backed by Andreessen Horowitz (a16z) and investors behind Uber, Airbnb, PayPal, and Palantir. Real users, real traction, hard problems worth solving. Come build something that matters.
The Opportunity
As Senior Product Manager, Member Experience, you'll own the entire member-facing mobile product end-to-end. You'll inherit a high-functioning engineering squad as well as the sprint process and the outcomes. This is a rare chance to do career-defining work on a product where impact is measured in lives, not metrics, where your decisions ship in weeks and directly shape whether a police officer, firefighter, or EMT gets help. As the team scales, there's a clear path to grow into a director-level role leading a team of your own.
How you’ll make an impact
Own the member-facing product roadmap for our mobile app, end-to-end.
Run a high-functioning dev team's sprint process and keep Linear as the source of truth.
Turn PRDs into structured, estimated Linear projects with cross-team dependencies mapped.
Triage member and internal feedback into prioritized issues.
Become an expert on our technology, systems, and processes, able to fill any gap for members or teammates in a pinch.
The skillset you’ll need to succeed
6+ years of product management experience, ideally with consumer mobile apps.
Hands-on operating experience with the Claude ecosystem (Claude, Claude Code, agentic workflows).
Experience running agile/sprint processes with engineering teams.
Strong written communication—PRDs, specs, and stakeholder comms.
Fluency with modern PM tooling (Linear, Notion, Figma).
Detail-oriented, with a focus on amazing service to our members.
Comfort operating autonomously in an early-stage environment.
Bias toward action: if you see a problem, go ahead and solve it yourself when you can, calling in reinforcements when you need them.
Hybrid work in the Los Angeles area required.
Bonus Skills
A significant portfolio of personal projects you've built with agentic tools.
Experience mentoring more junior teammates.
A health, mental-health, or mission-driven product background.
Experience serving first responders or similar communities.
Why you’ll love working here
At Sharp Performance, we’re a passionate, driven team committed to making a real impact. As a fast-growing startup, we know our success begins with our people. That’s why we offer a benefits package that supports your health, financial well-being, and professional growth:
Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance for you and your family
Life insurance, short-term disability insurance, long-term disability insurance
Flexible PTO
401(k) with company match
Early equity in a VC-backed company
Access to Sharp's performance coaching platform

The Opportunity
Sharp Performance is looking for a Senior Product Manager to own our coach platform—both as the backend powering our mobile app and external services, AND as a standalone product used by Sharp's coaches every day to manage their caseloads, schedules, and member interactions. This role is rare: you'll set the platform vision early enough to shape it, but the product is real and load-bearing, so your decisions will compound across every member, every coach, and every downstream squad.
You'll partner closely with coaching ops, Engineering, Design, and our Lead PM to ship coach-facing tooling that scales their impact while defining the platform/API layer every downstream squad builds on. You'll write tight specs, sequence work crisply across sprints, and make pragmatic tradeoffs between coach-facing product investment and platform/API work so neither audience gets starved. You'll also be the product owner for our AI/Claude Code-powered tooling—shaping how we use modern AI tooling to compound velocity across the team.
What You'll Own
The product roadmap for Sharp's coach platform, both as the backend powering our mobile app and external services, and as a standalone product used by coaches to manage their caseloads, schedules, and member interactions.
The coach-facing product experience: partnering with coaching ops to understand their workflows, shipping tooling that scales their impact, and making the platform the system of record for coach work.
The platform/API layer powering the mobile app and external service consumers. You'll define service contracts, SLAs, and the roadmap for capabilities downstream products depend on.
The dual mandate: making tradeoffs between coach-facing product investment and platform/API work, and sequencing the roadmap so neither audience gets starved.
Success metrics across both surfaces: coach productivity, throughput, and satisfaction on the product side; reliability, latency, and time-to-integrate on the platform side.
A full-stack product development team (one Engineering Manager and 4–6 offshore engineers), coordinating agile development ceremonies to drive continuous product delivery.
Authoring and reviewing technical documentation: PRDs, Linear projects and tickets, API documentation, GTM plans, and internal communications throughout the product development lifecycle.
A seat at the table for Product team planning, strategy discussions, and long-term vision.
Your First 90 Days
Complete a full operational handoff from the current SPM, taking ownership of all in-flight initiatives, relationships, and decision rights.
Build trust with coach ops leadership and establish a regular feedback loop with frontline coaches.
Create tight coupling with downstream and customer dev squads by establishing shared roadmap rituals and a clear interface for cross-squad asks.
Who Thrives Here
5+ years of product management experience, with at least 2+ years on a platform, API, or infrastructure product.
Prior ownership of an internal or operations-facing product (e.g., agent tooling, ops consoles, CSM platforms, coach tools).
Demonstrated AI fluency: deeply fluent in the Claude Code ecosystem and broader AI tooling, actively keeping up to date with the latest in AI development practices and integrating them into your work.
Experience working with frontline operator users and translating workflow insight into product.
A track record of partnering deeply with engineers: empathetic, direct, and able to drive tight collaboration models.
Sprint craft—you scope, sequence, and unblock work in fast-moving cycles, and you write specs other people actually want to read.
Mission pull: you're energized by the chance to serve first responders, military, and other high-stress professions.
Nice to Have
Direct experience building tools for frontline ops users (coaches, CSMs, agents, clinicians).
Experience with calendaring, scheduling, and matching problem sets.
Technical fluency: reads code, designs APIs, and debates architecture credibly with senior engineers.
Hands-on familiarity with our stack: PHP, Laravel, PostgreSQL.
Product analytics experience with PostHog or Mixpanel.
Fluency with Linear, Notion, Figma, and Claude.
Why Join Sharp
Huge ownership: you'll own a product that's both a foundational platform powering our mobile app and external services AND a standalone product used by Sharp's coaches every day. Your decisions compound across every member, every coach, and every downstream squad.
Clear path to grow: direct visibility with leadership and a path to Group PM or Director as the platform org expands and the product surface grows.
Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance
401(k) with company match
Early equity in a company backed by a16z

About the role
We're spinning up a new squad at Sharp Performance to build a 0-to-1 product, and we're looking for a Lead Full-Stack Engineer to be the technical anchor. You'll set the architectural direction, write a meaningful share of the code yourself, and guide the output of a small team (1–2 direct reports to start, growing as the product proves itself).
This is a player-coach role. You'll be hands-on in the codebase day-to-day, but you'll also be the person making sure what the squad ships is coherent, well-scoped, and actually moves the product forward. If you want to be heads-down on a single component, this isn't the role. If you want to shape a product from a blank page — technically and as a small team — read on.
What you'll do
Lead technical design and architecture for a new product being built from scratch, making the early decisions that will shape it for years.
Build full-stack: own features end-to-end across the frontend (Next.js or Vue) and backend, including API design, data modeling, and infrastructure choices.
Mentor and manage 1–2 engineers — running meetings, giving feedback, unblocking them, and growing them as the team grows.
Partner closely with product and design to translate fuzzy problems into shippable scope, and push back when scope and reality don't match.
Set the bar for code quality, testing, and review practices in a new codebase where the patterns you establish will compound.
Make pragmatic trade-offs between speed and durability — knowing when to ship the duct tape version and when to invest in the right abstraction.
What we're looking for
7+ years of full-stack engineering experience, with deep proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript and a modern frontend framework (Next.js or Vue).
Strong product engineering instincts. You think in terms of user outcomes, not just tickets, and you've shipped things customers actually used.
Experience leading a small team's technical output — whether as a tech lead, staff engineer, or engineering manager. Comfortable giving feedback, running planning, and being accountable for what the team delivers.
Track record of building something from 0 to 1 — joining early, working through ambiguity, making decisions without complete information.
Solid backend chops: comfortable designing APIs, working with relational databases, and reasoning about performance and reliability.
Strong written and verbal communication — you can explain a technical decision to a PM and a junior engineer in the same Slack thread.
Nice to have
Experience with our adjacent stack (analytics tooling, observability, feature flagging).
Have managed engineers directly before, even informally.
Why this role
You'll be employee-zero on a new product inside an established startup — the upside of greenfield work with the support of an existing team, customer base, and infrastructure. You'll have unusual leverage over what gets built, how it gets built, and who builds it.
