AI Builder Advocate
About Thread AI
Thread AI is building the AI-native workflow orchestration engine for the enterprise. Our platform, Lemma, makes infrastructure simple, trustworthy, and verifiable for enterprises and public sector agencies looking to deploy mission-critical AI agents at scale.
Headquartered in NYC, we are a lean, fast-moving team of engineers, strategists, and product thinkers. Our co-founding team spent the better part of a decade building AI/ML products at Palantir. We believe that a small, exceptionally talented team with a flat structure can out-pace and out-build massive hierarchies. If AI is going to fundamentally change how the world works, we have an obligation to make it verifiable, human-centered, and resilient.
About the Role
As Thread AI’s first AI Builder Advocate, you are the person who proves what is possible on Lemma—and then shows the world exactly how to do it.
Lemma is built for builders across the entire technical spectrum. Your audience isn't just the staff engineer wiring agents into production infrastructure; it’s also the highly technical operator automating a massive enterprise workflow that used to take a team weeks to execute. Your job is to meet all of them where they are.
This is a high-autonomy, high-leverage role. You’ll ship production-grade reference apps that turn "is this possible?" into "this is running in production." You'll be the loudest internal voice for the builder experience, turning field insights into product reality. You will work directly with the founders, Engineering, and GTM teams to define the builder ecosystem from the ground up.
What You’ll Do
Build & Prototype in Public
Be the "User Zero" for every new product capability, SDK release, and API change—dogfooding the platform and providing merciless, high-signal feedback to Engineering.
Prototype relentlessly against the highly complex, multi-model use cases our customers face across financial services, defense, healthcare, and energy.
Architect and open-source runnable, pristine reference applications, starter templates, and demos that solve real-world enterprise orchestration challenges.
Create Content That Cuts Through the Noise
Write clear, zero-fluff technical guides, deep dives, and "build-along" tutorials that help a builder get from an empty IDE to a working prototype in minutes.
Produce high-fidelity video walkthroughs and live-coding sessions that demystify complex AI agent coordination and data flows.
Ensure our documentation, examples, and technical messaging remain as precise and rigorous as the engineering behind the platform itself.
Mobilize the Builder Community
Represent Thread AI as a credible, deeply technical voice at industry events, hackathons, and builder meetups.
Act as a talent magnet and represent Thread AI’s culture and engineering bar compellingly in public so that top-tier builders want to join us. Use your ecosystem footprint to organically spot, cultivate, and attract exceptional technical talent to our growing team.
Engage authentically where builders actually hang out (GitHub, Discord, Hacker News, X), earning trust by solving real problems and offering genuine technical support.
Design and execute Thread AI's developer programming, including technical office hours and builder onboarding tracks.
Who You Are
The "Bilingual" Engineer: You have a strong software engineering background and can write clean, production-quality code (e.g., Python, TypeScript). However, you are equally energized when showing a non-traditional developer how to orchestrate a complex workflow.
An Educator at Heart: You have a proven portfolio of teaching things to technical audiences—whether through technical blogging, open-source contributions, video tutorials, or public speaking.
AI-Native: You build with LLMs and agentic frameworks daily. You understand the nuances of the modern AI stack (context windows, embeddings, MCP servers, and model latency) and know how the pieces fit together.
High Autonomy, Low Ego: You thrive in unstructured environments. You don't wait for a spec; you see a gap in the builder experience and you ship the solution.
An Exceptional Communicator: You can simplify dense architectural concepts without dumbing them down. You care about truth, clarity, and precision in technical content and can translate technical concepts into compelling narratives
We're committed to creating a space where our employees can bring their full selves to work and have equal opportunity to succeed. So regardless of race, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, religion, origin, ability, or age, we encourage you to apply!
Don't meet every single requirement? If you're excited about this role and the company but your past experience doesn't align with every qualification, we still encourage you to apply anyway—we'd love to get to know you and see if there's a place for you at Thread!
Compensation
$140,000 - $200,000 base + Bonus + Equity
Applicant must be a U.S. citizen or national or U.S. lawful, permanent resident.
This is a full-time, in-person position based at our New York City office.
Business Operations Strategist
Thread AI
Thread AI is focused on building an AI orchestration engine and is looking for dedicated individuals to join its growing team. Our goal is to make infrastructure simple for enterprises and public sector agencies seeking to get the most from AI and AI Agents.
Headquartered in New York, our growing team is a group of experts who have a track record of creating and executing against complex workflows and infrastructure.
We are a lean team of engineers, strategists, and product thinkers - with a co-founding team that spent the better part of a decade building AI/ML products at Palantir. We believe that a small dedicated team with a flat structure and collaborative culture can move faster and build better products than large hierarchical organizations. We believe that if AI is going to change the way we work, we have an obligation to make it trustworthy, verifiable, and human-centered. That belief shapes everything we build and how we operate.
About the Role
We are looking for a Business Operations Strategist to build the internal operating system of Thread AI. This is a role where you look at a company that is scaling from 30 to 50+ people, serving Fortune 500 customers across regulated industries and public sector agencies, and ask: What systems need to exist that don't yet? What decisions are we making by default that we should be making by design? Where are we spending time that we shouldn't be and where are we underinvesting?
You will be the person who constructs order out of ambiguity. You'll build the processes, tools, and operational rhythms by thinking from first principles about what actually matters versus what merely feels urgent.
What You'll Do
You'll scale the internal operations of a company at an inflection point. Expect to traverse everything from high-level strategy to execution in the same day, often in the same hour.
Build scalable operational infrastructure: Formalize and implement the systems that govern how we plan, prioritize, allocate resources, track commitments, and communicate internally.
Construct and manage cross-functional rhythms: Design the cadences that keep engineering, product, commercial, and leadership aligned. Make sure information flows to where it needs to go, decisions get made with the right context, and nothing critical falls through the cracks.
Remove friction and automate the mundane: Identify operational drag and systematically eliminate it. Build tooling, automate workflows, and consolidate processes so the team can focus on the work that actually requires human judgment.
-
Support new market entrance: Perform targeted research on new GTM opportunities, verticals, or areas of growth. Articulate value propositions and manage logistics for new sales and marketing initiatives.
What We’re Looking For
We care far more about how you think than what you've done. That said, here are the traits and experiences that matter:
First-principles orientation. You question assumptions, decompose problems to their root, and build solutions from the ground up. When you see a process that exists for historical reasons rather than good reasons, you flag it - and fix it.
Comfort with ambiguity. You thrive in environments where the problem isn't well-defined and the path forward isn't obvious. You don't equate pivoting with failing. You've operated in contexts where you had to figure out what to work on before figuring out how to do it.
Bias toward action with depth of thought. You move fast, but not carelessly. You can ship a v1 of a process by the end of week while simultaneously thinking about what the v3 needs to look like. You understand that speed without direction is just chaos.
Range. You can go deep on a financial model in the morning, redesign an internal communication workflow over lunch, and prep a board deck in the afternoon. You're not precious about the type of work - you care about whether it matters.
Intellectual honesty. You'd rather surface a hard truth than protect a comfortable narrative. You can disagree with a founder, back it up with evidence, and do it without ego. You understand that the outcome matters more than who gets the credit.
Learning velocity. You pick things up fast. Thread AI operates across financial services, defense, energy, hospitality, and healthcare. You don't need domain expertise in all of these - but you need the ability to get credibly deep into unfamiliar territory quickly.
Qualifications
4–7 years of experience in business operations, strategy, management consulting, or a similar high-rigor environment
Demonstrated ability to build processes and systems from scratch, not just optimize existing ones
Strong analytical foundation - you're comfortable with financial modeling, data analysis, and making decisions grounded in evidence
Excellent written communication; you can distill complexity into clarity for audiences ranging from engineers to board members
Experience in a high-growth startup or technology environment is preferred, but not required. What matters is that you've operated in contexts that demanded independent thinking and end-to-end ownership
Why Thread AI
You'll join a company at the moment where operational decisions compound. The systems you build will define how Thread AI scales - not just in headcount, but in how we think, decide, and execute. You'll work alongside a founding team that spent years at the intersection of AI and enterprise infrastructure, and a team of builders from Palantir, Goldman Sachs, Google, Uber, and MIT who chose this problem because they believe it's one of the most important in enterprise technology.
We believe that in an age where AI can generate content so easily, focusing on what is human, what is true, and what is verifiable is more important than ever. That philosophy applies to our product and it applies to how we run the company. We want someone who holds our operations to the same standard of rigor, transparency, and intentionality that we hold our technology.
If you believe that the hardest operational problems in AI infrastructure deserve the same intellectual rigor as the technology itself, we want to meet you.
We’re committed to creating a space where our employees can bring their full selves to work and have equal opportunity to succeed. So regardless of race, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, religion, origin, ability, or age, we encourage you to apply!
Don’t meet every single requirement? If you’re excited about this role and the company but your past experience doesn’t align with every qualification, we still encourage you to apply anyway - we'd love to get to know you and see if there's a place for you at Thread!
Compensation
The base pay range for this role is $110,000 – $210,000 per year + Equity.
Applicant must be a U.S. citizen or national or U.S. lawful, permanent resident.
This is a full-time, in-person position based at our New York City office.
Federal Deployment Lead
We are a lean team of engineers, strategists, and product thinkers - with a co-founding team that spent the better part of a decade building AI/ML products at Palantir that were deployed across both the private sector and public sector.
This is not a project management role, but a hybrid of strategic thinking, technical fluency, client partnership, and relentless ownership.
Own the full lifecycle: Walk into a federal agency, decompose their hardest problems, architect a path to production on Lemma, and drive it to completion - through compliance, politics, and technical uncertainty.
Navigate the federal landscape: Scope requirements with a federal CTO, map data flows across agency systems, prepare ATO materials, and anticipate where compliance will get stuck before it does.
Make sound technical calls: Design multi-tenant deployment architectures, pressure-test assumptions with engineering, and engage substantively on trade-offs between approaches.
Shape the practice: Help define how Thread AI approaches the federal market - the strategy, partnerships, delivery model, and hiring. This is a founding role.
What we're looking for
First-principles thinker: You decompose complex, ambiguous problems into their load-bearing assumptions instinctively. You synthesize technical constraints, political dynamics, compliance requirements, and user behavior into a cohesive plan.
Federal fluency: Navigated at least some of: FedRAMP, ATO packages, FISMA, NIST 800-53, IL4/IL5. etc. You don't need to be a compliance engineer, but you need to design delivery approaches that work within the landscape.
Technical depth: You can read an architecture diagram and spot where it will break. You understand how APIs, data pipelines, orchestration engines, and AI/ML models fit together. Experience with AWS/GCP/Azure, multi-tenant architectures, or AI/ML deployment patterns is a strong plus.
Delivery under real constraints: You've shipped something meaningful in production, not a demo. Federal, defense, or IC experience is ideal; heavily regulated domains (financial services, healthcare, energy) also count if the complexity was comparable.
Ownership as identity: You see projects through from beginning to end. On a team of fewer than 30, there is nowhere to hide. That excites you.
Nice to Haves
Active TS/SCI clearance, or an active Secret clearance with ability to obtain TS/SCI.
Direct experience deploying AI/ML systems in federal or DoD environments.
Familiarity with FedRAMP High or Moderate authorization processes from the vendor or agency side.
Experience at a forward-deployed technology company operating in the federal space.
Background in data engineering, systems integration, or platform architecture - enough to have opinions about how orchestration layers should work.
Experience operating in early-stage environments (Series A/B) where you've had to build the playbook, not follow one.
