We are looking for a highly motivated Field Service Engineer II, currently located in Phoenix, Arizona, to join our team!
How You’ll Contribute
Provide on-site service to customers primarily in the Phoenix, Arizona area; including repair and installation of company instrumentation, operation of instruments when needed and managing lab inventories
Review technical reports and documents from customers. Analyze issues with technical staff to find root cause and communicate next steps and timelines to customers
Maintain records of tool configurations pertaining to hardware, software, consumables, and application releases
Manage customer interface with research and development groups. Maintain a working relationship with customers and instill confidence and credibility in our company and product
Exceed customer expectations of service, support, and the product under development
Summarize and communicate issues to development engineers for triage and participate in root cause analysis investigations

Qualifications, Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
BS in scientific or engineering field
2-5 years of relevant engineering or field service experience. Preferred in biotech or capital equipment industry
Experience in electro-mechanical assembly, server installations, and instrumentation troubleshooting
Skilled at interpreting technical documentation and schematics (electrical, wiring, fluidic, and mechanical drawings)
Ability to work independently and in a group
Good people skills
Talented at building prototypes from preliminary drawings and schematics
Meticulous and detail oriented. Excellent organizational and verbal and written communication skills
Motivated and willing to work in a fast-paced environment as part of a hard-working and multidisciplinary team
Ability to travel domestically and internationally, up to 20% of the time. Holding a valid US driver’s license is required
At Ultima Genomics, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package. This role pays between $37 and $42 per hour, if performed in Arizona, and your actual base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Please note that the compensation details listed in US role postings reflect the base salary only, and do not include equity or benefits. We are looking for a highly motivated Senior Manufacturing Engineer to join our team!
As a Senior Manufacturing Engineer, you will play an important role in the development and commercialization of technology and products that will accelerate our understanding of life, biology and disease and transform large industries. You will work as a part of Manufacturing Engineering Team supporting production on preparing, installing and configuring a variety of subassembly and system level components.
This is a full-time onsite position at our Fremont, CA location.
How You’ll Contribute
Responsible for all aspects of production documentation for complex DNA sequencing systems and sub-assemblies including Incoming Quality Control (IQC), build, test, and rework procedures
Review, create, and update documentation for high volume procurement such as drawings for cables, Printed Circuit Board Assemblies (PCBA), electromechanical assemblies, and Off-The-Shelf (OTS) parts and subsystems
Provide vendor feedback and review as needed to maintain incoming product quality and compliance
Support new product development, engineering test, manufacturing test, and manufacturing and contract manufacturing (CM) outsourcing
Work closely with R&D teams on design transfer, Engineering Change Order (ECO) implementation and Common Industrial Protocol (CIP)
Facilitate and participate in feasibility studies alongside development engineering to build the product validation and test requirements/equipment to support manufacturing
Be "first line of defense” for manufacturing issues and escalate through appropriate chains of communication to address them in a timely fashion
Troubleshoot and conduct root cause analysis of production equipment and failed Operational Qualification (OQ) for electrical and electromechanical assemblies, and PCBAs
Own continuous improvement of existing products to end of product life cycle
Follow closely and manage the steps from development to full production; calling for a design freeze, pre-production test and validation builds (pilot builds), lead cross-functional communication between development, procurement, manufacturing, quality, and field operations
Develop and maintain project schedules for design freezes for Bill of Materials (BOM) release, long lead time orders and risk buys
Review designs to identify opportunities for improvement prior to release to production
Maintain visibility and coordination of components for field testing
Support quality in First Article Inspection (FAI)
Apply Design for Manufacturability (DFM); Design for Assembly (DFA); and Design for Quality (DFQ) principles to optimize design and production
Plan and execute change control implementation
Understanding of test fixtures and system level integration, including Off-The-Shelf Input/Output OTS I/O vs in-house I/O, interfacing with firmware, software, and scripting; ability to set clear and qualified configurations for fixture and tool stability

Qualifications, Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
BS in Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field
5+ years of experience taking products from an R&D environment to full scale capital equipment production in the 10’s to 100’s and beyond
Demonstrated experience working in a manufacturing environment building, testing, or troubleshooting automated instruments or robotic systems involving electrical and electro-mechanical assemblies, with a working understanding of their firmware and software-level control interfaces
Proficiency in reading and interpreting PCB schematics, board layout, harness drawings, and multi-level BOMs to support build, inspection, and incoming quality review of electrical assemblies
Hands-on experience using oscilloscopes, digital multimeters (DMMs), and other bench test equipment to diagnose quality or manufacturing defects at the board, harness, and system level
Experience working as an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) design owner
Excellent technical writing skills to generate clear, precise documentation such as manufacturing instruction, rework, and deviation documents
Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, New Product Introduction (NPI) activities, and product development lifecycle
Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) experience with Arena or equivalent for multi-level nested BOMs and part management of assemblies up to several thousand-line items
Experience with electrical CAD packages such as Altium, or KiCAD for PCB design and the ability to read schematics and understand board layout
Experience with manufacturing and design of PCBAs, knowledge of In Process Control (IPC) standards, ISO 13485 or 9001, and familiarity with vendor management is a plus
Automation and data analysis using Python is a plus
Self-starter with a can-do attitude

This role pays between $110,000 and $130,000, if performed in California, and your actual base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. We are looking for a highly motivated HR Coordinator to join our Human Resources team!
As an HR Coordinator, you will serve as a key resource for HR operations, providing administrative support across functions including recruitment, onboarding, offboarding, employee records management, and compliance. This role offers the opportunity to collaborate with employees across the organization.
This is an onsite full-time position based in our Fremont CA office.
How You’ll Contribute
Administer all tasks for onboarding, new hire orientation, ongoing changes, and offboarding, including but not limited to background checks, initiating new hire onboarding process, maintaining employee files and records in the system, processing on-going changes, and offboarding documentation
Act as the primary HR contact to administer and execute human resource programs and procedures including but not limited to employee referral bonuses, spot bonuses, educational assistance program, intern program, monitoring/responding to employee questions, employment verifications, and unemployment claims
Assist in employee and candidate immigration matters
Generate reports and org charts as well as assist with data analysis for HR metrics, audits, and compliance filings
Assist with recruitment logistics, including reviewing job descriptions, preparing job requisitions, posting positions to external job sites, scheduling interviews, and communicating with candidates and hiring managers
Assist with equity administration, including but not limited to new hire grants, offboarding share information communication, and other quarterly processes and procedures
Assist with the review and analysis of new HR updates to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, while staying aligned with standard business practices
Assist with HR and Business Operations projects and other job duties as assigned
Qualifications, Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred
Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in an HR support or administrative role
Be able to use computers proficiently, including Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word PowerPoint, Outlook) and data entry
System savvy. Experience using HR systems and talent acquisition tools such as ATS (Greenhouse), Glassdoor, recruiting platforms, such as Indeed and LinkedIn, is preferred
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment and work independently
Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
Demonstrated ability to build strong and collaborative working relationships with candidates, colleagues, and internal customers
Strong organizational and calendar management skills with attention to detail and accuracy
Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
Knowledge of HR best practices and employment/labor laws is a plus

We are looking for a highly motivated Senior Manufacturing Engineer to join our team!
As a Senior Manufacturing Engineer, you will play an important role in the development and commercialization of technology and products that will accelerate our understanding of life, biology and disease and transform large industries. You will work as a part of Manufacturing Engineering Team supporting production on preparing, installing and configuring a variety of subassembly and system level components.
This is a full-time onsite position at our Fremont, CA location.
How You’ll Contribute
Responsible for all aspects of production documentation for complex DNA sequencing systems and sub-assemblies including Incoming Quality Control (IQC), build, test, and rework procedures
Review, create, and update documentation for high volume procurement such as drawings for cables, Printed Circuit Board Assemblies (PCBA), electromechanical assemblies, and Off-The-Shelf (OTS) parts and subsystems
Provide vendor feedback and review as needed to maintain incoming product quality and compliance
Support new product development, engineering test, manufacturing test, and manufacturing and contract manufacturing (CM) outsourcing
Work closely with R&D teams on design transfer, Engineering Change Order (ECO) implementation and Common Industrial Protocol (CIP)
Facilitate and participate in feasibility studies alongside development engineering to build the product validation and test requirements/equipment to support manufacturing
Be "first line of defense” for manufacturing issues and escalate through appropriate chains of communication to address them in a timely fashion
Troubleshoot and conduct root cause analysis of production equipment and failed Operational Qualification (OQ) for electrical and electromechanical assemblies, and PCBAs
Own continuous improvement of existing products to end of product life cycle
Follow closely and manage the steps from development to full production; calling for a design freeze, pre-production test and validation builds (pilot builds), lead cross-functional communication between development, procurement, manufacturing, quality, and field operations
Develop and maintain project schedules for design freezes for Bill of Materials (BOM) release, long lead time orders and risk buys
Review designs to identify opportunities for improvement prior to release to production
Maintain visibility and coordination of components for field testing
Support quality in First Article Inspection (FAI)
Apply Design for Manufacturability (DFM); Design for Assembly (DFA); and Design for Quality (DFQ) principles to optimize design and production
Plan and execute change control implementation
Understanding of test fixtures and system level integration, including Off-The-Shelf Input/Output OTS I/O vs in-house I/O, interfacing with firmware, software, and scripting; ability to set clear and qualified configurations for fixture and tool stability

Qualifications, Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
BS in Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field
5+ years of experience taking products from an R&D environment to full scale capital equipment production in the 10’s to 100’s and beyond
Demonstrated experience working in a manufacturing environment building, testing, or troubleshooting automated instruments or robotic systems involving electrical and electro-mechanical assemblies, with a working understanding of their firmware and software-level control interfaces
Proficiency in reading and interpreting PCB schematics, board layout, harness drawings, and multi-level BOMs to support build, inspection, and incoming quality review of electrical assemblies
Hands-on experience using oscilloscopes, digital multimeters (DMMs), and other bench test equipment to diagnose quality or manufacturing defects at the board, harness, and system level
Experience working as an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) design owner
Excellent technical writing skills to generate clear, precise documentation such as manufacturing instruction, rework, and deviation documents
Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, New Product Introduction (NPI) activities, and product development lifecycle
Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) experience with Arena or equivalent for multi-level nested BOMs and part management of assemblies up to several thousand-line items
Experience with electrical CAD packages such as Altium, or KiCAD for PCB design and the ability to read schematics and understand board layout
Experience with manufacturing and design of PCBAs, knowledge of In Process Control (IPC) standards, ISO 13485 or 9001, and familiarity with vendor management is a plus
Automation and data analysis using Python is a plus
Self-starter with a can-do attitude
At Ultima Genomics, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package. This role pays between $110,000 and $130,000, if performed in California, and your actual base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. We are looking for a highly motivated Senior Scientist, Surface Chemistry to join our team!
As a Senior Scientist, Surface Chemistry, you will lead R&D and process development for surface-modified substrates. You will design surface chemistries, build metrology-to-performance correlations, and deliver robust, scalable processes with clear standard operating procedures (SOPs).
This is a full-time onsite position at our Fremont, CA location.
How You’ll Contribute
Develop and scale surface functionalization processes; link chemistry and process settings to assay and product performance
Design and optimize surface chemistries, including organosilanes, thiols/SAMs, linkers, passivation and blocking strategies, and biomolecule immobilization
Run Design of Experiments (DOE) driven optimization and define robust operating windows and control plans
Build Quality Control (QC) workflows, including metrology panels, acceptance criteria, and correlation models between metrology and functional performance
Own troubleshooting and failure analysis; drive corrective actions via process controls and SOP updates
Drive innovation by prototyping next-gen coatings and chemistries, assessing feasibility and risk, and recommending paths forward
Partner cross-functionally with chemistry, biology and engineering teams and mentor technicians and junior staff

Qualifications, Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
Degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, materials science and engineering, physics, or related field
BS with 8+ years, MS with 5+ years or PhD with 3+ years of related industry experience. PhD is preferred
Hands on experience supporting a commercial product where surface chemistry is a key component
Strong surface chemistry and surface characterization skills with ability to correlate measurements to function
Hands-on metrology experience, including AFM, Ellipsometry, XPS, FTIR, SEM, fluorescence microscopy; additional techniques are a plus
Proven SOP authoring and release and documentation discipline in a product development environment
Demonstrated project leadership in framing, planning/DOE, execution, analysis, and excellent communication skills
Experience with vapor-phase and CVD-style deposition of organosilanes, thiols, or related surface chemistries, biomaterials coatings and/or bioconjugation chemistry
Familiarity with microfabrication context such as PVD/CVD/PECVD/ALD, lithography, etch, wet bench/cleaning
Data and image analysis (Python, FIJI, JMP, Matlab/Octave, R)
Experience using Statistical Process Control (SPC) to monitor process stability and variation

We are looking for a highly motivated Senior Scientist, Surface Chemistry to join our team!
As a Senior Scientist, Surface Chemistry, you will lead R&D and process development for surface-modified substrates. You will design surface chemistries, build metrology-to-performance correlations, and deliver robust, scalable processes with clear standard operating procedures (SOPs).
This is a full-time onsite position at our Fremont, CA location.
How You’ll Contribute
Develop and scale surface functionalization processes; link chemistry and process settings to assay and product performance
Design and optimize surface chemistries, including organosilanes, thiols/SAMs, linkers, passivation and blocking strategies, and biomolecule immobilization
Run Design of Experiments (DOE) driven optimization and define robust operating windows and control plans
Build Quality Control (QC) workflows, including metrology panels, acceptance criteria, and correlation models between metrology and functional performance
Own troubleshooting and failure analysis; drive corrective actions via process controls and SOP updates
Drive innovation by prototyping next-gen coatings and chemistries, assessing feasibility and risk, and recommending paths forward
Partner cross-functionally with chemistry, biology and engineering teams and mentor technicians and junior staff

Qualifications, Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
Degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, materials science and engineering, physics, or related field
BS with 8+ years, MS with 5+ years or PhD with 3+ years of related industry experience. PhD is preferred
Hands on experience supporting a commercial product where surface chemistry is a key component
Strong surface chemistry and surface characterization skills with ability to correlate measurements to function
Hands-on metrology experience, including AFM, Ellipsometry, XPS, FTIR, SEM, fluorescence microscopy; additional techniques are a plus
Proven SOP authoring and release and documentation discipline in a product development environment
Demonstrated project leadership in framing, planning/DOE, execution, analysis, and excellent communication skills
Experience with vapor-phase and CVD-style deposition of organosilanes, thiols, or related surface chemistries, biomaterials coatings and/or bioconjugation chemistry
Familiarity with microfabrication context such as PVD/CVD/PECVD/ALD, lithography, etch, wet bench/cleaning
Data and image analysis (Python, FIJI, JMP, Matlab/Octave, R)
Experience using Statistical Process Control (SPC) to monitor process stability and variation
At Ultima Genomics, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package. This role pays between $120,000 and $140,000, if performed in California, and your actual base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Please note that the compensation details listed in US role postings reflect the base salary only, and do not include bonus, equity, or benefits. We are looking for a highly motivated Material Handler I to join our team!
This opportunity is an onsite full-time contracting position based in our Fremont, CA office.
How You’ll Contribute
Inspect incoming deliveries for damage and any unsafe conditions before unloading material from truck
Perform receipt functions and check all material documentation ensuring accuracy, confirming, counts, weights, measures and purchase order number, matching delivery to the purchase order requirements
Maintain and file the shipment receiving documents as records of each receipt
Maintain the receiving area clean and clear, removing any accumulation of received materials in an orderly and timely manner
Perform material picking operations to create material kits per work order system and transact material issues in company computer ERP system in a timely manner and ensure the ERP material transactions are completed at time of shipment
Label and package incoming material for appropriate storage in the designated stockroom locations
Run daily cycle count and reconciliation of material to meet inventory accuracy objectives
Accurately prepare documentation for shipping packages and containers for domestic or international destinations; ensuring address labels, shipping account details, packing lists, international customs documents are complete and accurate for the type of shipment
Liaise with internal functions such as receiving, IQA, purchasing, material planning, manufacturing, and engineering with regard to the receipt or dispatch of expedited items
Follow Ultima Genomics safety policies and procedures
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications, Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
High School Diploma or GED required
Previous experience in a shipping or receiving role preferred
Excellent computer skills (Excel, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint)
Proficient in using PLM and ERP, NetSuite experience desired
Forklift Certification preferred
High degree of business ethics and accountability
Very detail oriented and focused on transactions accuracy
Mindset focused on customer service (both internal and external)
Ability to tackle daily tasks with a real sense of priority and urgency
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
Ability to stand, bend, crouch, push/pull, lift/move/carry (up to 50 lbs lifting required individually and team lifting up to 75 lbs)
This contracting position offers an hourly pay rate between $23/hour and $25/hour, and your actual base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
