Founding Technical Recruiter
About Vitalize:
Our Vision: Unlock Healthcare's Full Capacity
Hospitals run on three things: their people, their beds, and their supplies… and all are still managed with spreadsheets, phone calls, and gut instinct. Vitalize is building the system that runs it all intelligently, starting with labor — the biggest cost (nearly 60% of a hospital's P&L) and the hardest operational problem.
The impact is real: we save hospitals millions in unnecessary labor spend, give clinical leaders back 10–20 hours every week, and are often the reason staff and leaders stay. This isn't a nice-to-have: our customers pay 5–15x more than legacy incumbents because Vitalize is mission-critical software their hospitals rely on every single minute.
We've raised over $32M from top investors, and even our own customers.
Our Values
We hire and grow everyone against the same four values. Each one comes from a real Vitalize story—interview with us to hear them!
🚗 Push the Car. Step in regardless of role. We help wherever we're needed, own problems end to end, and don't stay in our lane. People can count on us.
🏥 Premier 1K. We show up for our customers, always. Nearly everyone visits a customer site in their first month, and customer feedback informs everything we do.
🗣️ Run Towards the Ugly. Name the ugliest truth first, then propose the fix. Candor over comfort—we call out what's broken and never get complacent.
💡 Think Bigger Fridays. See the gap, fill it—no permission required. Every decision is an experiment: we run it, let the results decide, and drive real impact from day one.

About Vitalize's Talent Team
The Talent Team will determine how quickly Vitalize scales and how much impact we can have on healthcare. Every great hire helps us deploy faster, build better products, serve more hospitals, and ultimately improve the way care is delivered.
We're building what we believe will become one of the best talent teams in the world. We don't believe great recruiting starts with a job description, it starts with deeply understanding our customers, the problems we're solving, and the teams we're building. Our recruiters sit in on customer calls, travel to customer sites, partner closely with hiring teams, and immerse themselves in the business so they can recruit with credibility. As one of our founding recruiters, you'll help build our talent function from the ground up and shape how Vitalize hires for years to come.
The Role
We're looking a founding Technical Recruiter to build the engineering, product, and design teams that will define Vitalize's future.
You'll partner directly with our engineering and product leadership to identify, attract, and close exceptional technical talent. This isn't about filling open req, it's about building one of the highest-performing technical organizations in healthcare technology.
You know what the top 1% of technical talent looks like. You understand how exceptional engineers think, where they spend their time, and how to build relationships that ultimately turn into hires. You believe recruiting is a competitive advantage, not an administrative function and you know how to find and convince world-class talent to join an ambitious mission.
This is a builder role. You'll help shape how we recruit technical talent at Vitalize from sourcing strategy and interview design to talent branding and recruiting systems that scale with the company.
What You'll Do
Build our technical talent function from zero to-own full-cycle recruiting across Engineering, Product, and Design while acting as the guardian of Vitalize's technical hiring bar.
Partner deeply with engineering leaders to understand what exceptional talent looks like for each role.
Build world-class talent pipelines through thoughtful sourcing, market mapping, referrals, networking, and long-term relationship building.
Develop a deep understanding of the technical talent landscape. You know where exceptional engineers spend their time, how to earn their attention, and how to build relationships long before there's an open role.
Become an expert in the teams you support. Attend engineering planning meetings, product reviews, and customer conversations to understand the problems we're solving so you can recruit with credibility.
Continuously improve how we hire. You're a natural tinkerer who loves testing sourcing strategies, recruiting technology, interview design, and hiring processes to make recruiting more effective every week.
Raise the quality of our hiring by influencing interview decisions, challenging assumptions, and ensuring every hire strengthens the organization.
What You'll Bring
7+ years of full-cycle technical recruiting experience in high-growth startups or technology companies.
A track record of hiring exceptional engineering, product, and design talent.
An exceptional eye for technical talent. You know what top 1% engineers, product managers, and designers look like, and you can assess talent well before the interview process confirms it.
Elite sourcing ability. You understand that the best technical talent rarely applies inbound. You know where exceptional people come from, build thoughtful and aggressive sourcing strategies, and consistently identify, engage, and close difficult-to-reach candidates.
Strong technical curiosity. You don't need to be an engineer, but you enjoy learning how great engineering organizations operate and can credibly engage technical candidates and hiring managers.
Executive-level partnership. You're comfortable partnering with founders and engineering leaders, challenging hiring decisions when appropriate, and protecting a consistently high hiring bar.
A builder's mindset. You thrive in ambiguity, improve systems without being asked, and create recruiting processes that scale as the company grows.
High agency. You don't wait for direction. You identify bottlenecks, propose solutions, and proactively move searches forward.
Curiosity about the business. You want to deeply understand our customers, our product, and the technical problems we're solving because you know great recruiting starts with great understanding.

About Vitalize’s Engineering Team
Every recommendation Vitalize makes flows through this team. We build the intelligence that helps hospitals decide who should float, when to call someone in, when staffing is becoming unsafe, and eventually when the system can safely make those decisions on its own.
This is where Vitalize evolves from software that reports what’s happening into software that actively runs hospital operations.
The Role
Clinical leaders make hundreds of staffing decisions every day under time pressure using disconnected systems. We’re replacing that with software that reasons through the problem, recommends, and eventually executes the best next actions.
You’ll own the decision engine behind those recommendations, turning messy operational reality into software customers trust with some of the most important decisions inside a hospital.
What You’ll Do
Design and build the decision logic behind staffing recommendations, alerts, and workflows.
Own systems that balance staffing rules, hospital policies, patient needs, and operational constraints.
Partner with our Product Managers, Designers, and other Engineers to build complex software solutions that are easy to use by our customers.
Work directly with clinical leaders to understand how staffing decisions are made.
Build software that explains why it reached a recommendation so users can trust, validate, or override it.
Define where automation ends and human judgment begins, helping Vitalize safely automate more of hospital operations over time.
Continuously improve the system using customer feedback, production data, and real-world outcomes.
What You’ll Bring
Expertise with Typescript
Instinct to dive into the Why
Experience working across the entire tech stack.
Strong systems thinking and the ability to reason through complicated edge cases.
Comfort working directly with customers to understand problems and rapidly improve the product.
Clear communication and a high ownership mindset.
If these problems excite you, we’d love to talk, even if your background doesn’t perfectly match every bullet above.

The Role
You'll be the third product designer at Vitalize, joining to scale how design operates across the company. This is a leading IC role; your impact is measured by what the rest of the team builds because of the infrastructure, patterns, and examples you ship.
You'll own complex product surfaces that cross pod boundaries. Recommendation surfaces, AI-driven workflows, data-dense decision-support tools that span the central staffing office, the unit manager, and the nurse.
You'll set the standards the team adopts. Taste documents. Pattern examples. Critique norms. The way design rationale gets written, the way design and engineering resolve disagreement, the way customer evidence shapes product moves.
You'll work directly with customers. Design at Vitalize starts with real workflows. You'll visit hospitals, observe how nurse managers and staffing offices actually work, and use that context to shape what we build.
You'll shape how the design team grows. Hiring loops, critique culture, onboarding patterns, and design operating principles. You’ll contribute input on who joins the team, how quality is maintained, and how design partners with product and engineering as we scale.
-
You'll set the pace for how Vitalize uses design systems: Components, tokens, patterns, contribution model, documentation, the relationship between Figma and the Tailwind codebase. Engineers are shipping correctly on their own, designers are shipping faster, and the average craft level of the product rising because of work you did.
Who You Are
You have 8+ years of product design experience, ideally on complex, workflow-heavy B2B SaaS products. You've shipped real features to real users and can talk about the business impact of your work.
You've owned a design system or comparable infrastructure that other people built on top of. You've designed the contribution model, not just the components. You can talk about the tradeoffs you made.
You’re comfortable spending time in the field. You enjoy observing operational workflows firsthand and are willing to travel to customer sites regularly to understand the reality of how the product is used.
You have mature product instincts. When you see a crowded interface, your instinct is to question whether the workflow is right. You design workflow changes, not just UI improvements. The bar is whether your principle survives into the shipped product.
You're opinionated, evidence-backed, and direct. You form a point of view quickly, back it up with what you've observed in the field, and hold the line when you disagree with engineers, founders, or customers, all while building strong relationships.
You're customer-obsessed in practice, with an instinct for business outcomes. You can name the metrics your design moves were built to change and defend the bridge between the design and the metric.
You're AI-fluent. You've worked on a product surface where AI was doing real work, and you have an informed point of view on how AI should and shouldn't show its reasoning in a UI.
You're a multiplier from day one. You enjoy critique, mentoring, and infrastructure work because of what they make possible for others.
You might not be the right fit if:
You're looking to be the head of design at a Series A; this is a senior IC seat with ownership, not a management role.
You've only worked on consumer products
You need detailed specs or PRDs to start designing
Your portfolio is concept-heavy and ship-light, or you can't point to a system someone else built on
Experience in healthcare, logistics, financial operations, or similarly complex operational domains is a strong plus — the operating-model pattern in our product (expert-in-the-loop workflow automation, cost-aware recommendations, audit-trail integrity) translates directly. The domain is deep but learnable.
Why Now
You'd be joining a small design team at the moment it scales from co-ownership to a real function. You'll be the third designer to join the team — the staff IC who sets the bar and the pace for delivery. You’ll multiply the output of the entire design team, leading by example, and owning critical design initiatives.
The patterns you set today — in the design system, in how we collaborate with engineering, in the quality bar we hold, in how AI shows its work to clinical staff under time pressure — will shape the product for years. You'd be working alongside founders who care about design quality and give the team real autonomy, and an engineering team that ships fast and wants to get better at building well-designed software.

About Vitalize’s Deployment Team
Our team is the engine behind Vitalize's growth, we're scaling our deployment motion from 30 to 300+ hospitals. We own the most complex, highest-stakes enterprise rollouts, and our work directly shapes how new product lines and expansions land with customers. These are the moments that unlock multi-million-dollar ARR, long-term customer success, measurable ROI, and most importantly real impact for the clinicians and staff using Vitalize every day.
The Role
You’ll embed directly with nursing executives, hospital operations leaders, finance, and IT to understand how their organizations actually function - not just how they think they function. You’ll diagnose operational bottlenecks, align cross-functional stakeholders, drive organizational change, and architect deployments that fundamentally reshape how health systems staff and operate. For our customers, you aren’t just implementing software - you are the face of Vitalize and a trusted advisor helping them transform one of the most operationally complex environments in healthcare.
What You’ll Do
Become a trusted advisor to C-suite executives, nursing leaders, and operational stakeholders as they redesign how labor is planned, staffed, and managed across their health systems.
Design and continuously refine repeatable deployment playbooks for academic medical centers and complex, multi-union health systems.
Align executives and cross-functional stakeholders across Nursing, Operations, IT, Finance, HR, PMO, Labor Relations, and Legal to drive successful enterprise-wide go-lives.
Develop a predictable launch motion for new system integrations, including greenfield HRIS and payroll builds
Partner directly with Go-to-Market and Customer Success on the internal flows, tools, and processes that drive long-term client success
Work with Product, Design, and Engineering to build and iterate on new product lines, driving ARR growth through expansion
Build new deployment systems, tools, and operating processes as Vitalize scales from dozens to hundreds of hospitals
What You’ll Bring
Clear Communicator - You communicate with clarity and confidence across every audience, from frontline clinicians to C-suite executives. You simplify complex ideas, navigate difficult conversations, and build alignment through thoughtful, proactive communication
Ability to Build Trust with Nurses, Physicians, and Hospital Staff - You approach customers as a consultative partner, not just a project manager. You listen first, seek to understand clinical workflows, and earn credibility by solving problems alongside the people doing the work every day
Ability to Drive Change Management & Influence Adoption - You recognize that successful deployments are driven by people, not just technology. You can identify resistance, build buy-in across diverse stakeholder groups, and help organizations embrace new ways of working
Detailed Project & Deployment Management - You excel at managing complex, cross-functional deployments from planning through go-live. You anticipate risks, prioritize effectively, and bring structure to ambiguous, fast-moving environments
Self-Starter Who Can Operate Autonomously with Little Direction, Fast Pace, and Ambiguity - You take ownership without waiting for direction, thrive in rapidly changing environments, and consistently identify opportunities to improve processes, solve problems, and move work forward

The Role
You'll join as CSM #2, own the full success motion for a portfolio of multi-hospital health systems (7-figure deals), and define the foundation for how our CS function operates.
At most companies, the CSM's job is to drive adoption of a product that doesn't actually meet user needs. That's not us. We have health systems who've built their fiscal year's strategic KPIs around Vitalize, systems rolling us out to 5,000+ users, and customers who've exceeded their ROI projections by 10x. What we don't yet have is a repeatable CS motion that makes that success predictable, where every system wins the same way, consistently.
Our north star is reference-ability: measured ROI, and executives willing to stand on a podium in front of other health system leaders and scream about Vitalize. You'll work directly with our product, growth, and deployments teams to build it.
What You'll Own
Customer Strategy & Executive Relationships
Own the end-to-end success motion for assigned health systems — from deployment handoff through adoption, value realization, and renewal
Build and maintain multi-threaded relationships across each account: C-suite sponsors, operational directors, and frontline champions
Run QBRs and executive check-ins that are grounded in data and tied to customer-specific KPIs
Act as a strategic consultant on workforce strategy — helping leaders connect Vitalize data to decisions on OT reduction, float pool optimization, and labor spend
ROI Articulation & Change Management
Build ROI narratives that quantify the value Vitalize delivers (financial savings, operational efficiency, workforce outcomes) tailored to the audience (CFO vs. CNO vs. ops director)
Drive adoption across complex, multi-site organizations with non-tech-savvy users and competing priorities
Design ongoing education and training motions — not just initial rollout, but sustained engagement that keeps utilization high
Own the hard conversations when value isn't landing as expected, and work cross-functionally to course-correct
Product & Cross-Functional Partnership
Translate customer conversations into actionable product insight — distinguish between custom configuration and productizable features, and bring structured feedback to the product team
Partner with deployments to ensure clean handoffs, track leading indicators during go-lives, and embed early in new customer sites
Collaborate with analytics to tailor reporting packages per account and ensure the right data is powering your executive conversations
Work with support to surface systemic issues and ensure customer health isn't eroding below the surface
What We're Looking For
5+ years managing enterprise accounts or complex stakeholder environments — CS, consulting, implementation, or healthcare ops
Executive presence — you can run meetings with C-suite health system leaders, manage expectations, and have hard conversations about value delivery
Analytical rigor — you build ROI narratives from data, use metrics as leading indicators, and create reports that drive action (not just updates)
Multi-threading instinct — you naturally build relationships across stakeholder tiers (executive sponsor, operational leads, frontline champions) and tailor your approach to each
Startup tolerance — you've operated in a high-growth, ambiguous environment where playbooks didn't exist and you had to build the motion
Willingness to travel — 50% initially (customer site visits during deployments), 25% ongoing
Based in San Francisco — this is an in-person role
Logistics
Location: San Francisco (in-person), open to remote
Travel: 25-50% travel
Benefits
Medical, dental, and vision insurance

The Company
Hospitals still run their most important operations — staffing, labor planning, and capacity — on paper, spreadsheets, and guesswork. It’s a system that wastes thousands of hours and millions of dollars every year.
Vitalize replaces this with intelligent, automated staffing operations. Our platform brings real-time decision support to clinical leaders, eliminating manual work, reducing unnecessary labor spend, and unlocking patient capacity for hospitals.
Labor drives ~60% of hospital costs, and our research shows more than 20% of that spend is preventable. By proactively aligning labor supply with patient demand, Vitalize helps health systems operate efficiently, safely, and sustainably.
We’re building the core operating system for hospital workforce operations — competing directly with legacy HR/ERP platforms. And we’re winning. We’re already live across 20+ hospitals, near 8-figures in revenue, and have raised funding from top investors. We’ve 3x’ed revenue in the last 3 months, and are scaling fast.
