In this hybrid role, you will report to a Systems Engineering Manager You will: Identify the critical data of key driving behaviors, analyze it, develop metrics, and use those metrics to influence the design of the system, in ambiguous, open-ended behavioral areas Provide requirements and feedback on verifications, CL's, etc. Anticipate issues and risks in your area of ownership, communicate them clearly and work cross-functionally to mitigate them. Architect large projects with broad impact on the efficiency of the systems engineering organization Build, coordinate, and nurture collaborations across teams Champion intellectual honesty You have: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant engineering or related field (e.g., Software Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Robotics, Controls, Aerospace, etc.) Demonstrated ability to tackle technical challenges, analyze cross-disciplinary problems, and propose innovative, maintainable solutions Experience with data collection, statistical analysis, and developing metrics to support system evaluation or improvement Strong skills in creating clear and concise technical documentation and effectively presenting complex ideas to diverse audiences Proven ability to contribute to or lead cross-functional initiatives, driving alignment and ensuring stakeholder engagement throughout the development process Proficiency with tools like Python, MATLAB, or similar for data analysis We prefer: Experience with large-scale system architecture, including integrating hardware and software systems in a regulated or safety-critical environment Familiarity with leveraging machine learning models for system optimization or predictive analytics Experience leading cross-team initiatives, including coordinating with external vendors or partners to deliver high-impact solutions Proven track record of defining and implementing process improvements that enhance productivity, test coverage, or system reliability Knowledge of automotive, robotics, or related industries, particularly in areas like safety systems, motion planning, or perception systems The expected base salary range for this full-time position across US locations is listed below. The mission of the Waymo AI Foundations team is to develop machine learning solutions addressing open problems in autonomous driving, towards the goal of safely operating Waymo vehicles in dozens of cities and under all driving conditions. As part of our work, we also initiate and foster collaborations with other research teams in Alphabet. AI Foundations areas that we are currently focusing on include reinforcement learning, learning from demonstration, generative modeling, Bayesian inference, hierarchical learning, and robust evaluation. In this hybrid role, you will report to a Senior Director of AI Foundations You will: Own the data recipe for Waymo’s Foundation Model pre-training and post-training Lead and drive science on best practices around clustering, filtering, de-duplication, long-tail data mining, memorization, etc. Tech-lead a team of research engineers to build the data flywheel to enable the above from Waymo’s massive driving data Integrate emerging research from the broader community to do rigorous ablations and promising data research techniques. This includes scaling ladders for pre-training, data mix optimizations and RL recipes (preferences) for post-training. Engage with the wider research community on best practices around data centric evaluation creation and refinement Partner with engineering and research teams across Waymo to share recipes, techniques, and post-training best practices to accelerate our collective know-how You have: PhD or Masters in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Robotics, or a similar technical field; with 3+ years of industry or post-doc research experience in Data-centric AI, Reinforcement Learning or Foundation Models Demonstration of original contributions to the field through high-impact publications (ArXiv, peer-reviewed conferences like NeurIPS/ICLR/CVPR), technical blog posts, or significant open-source contributions Proficiency and in-depth knowledge of the inner workings of an ML framework (e.g. Pytorch, JAX, Tensorflow) We prefer: Extensive experience working with data and recipes for large scale foundation models ML infra experience: training, evaluating and deploying ML models at scale Deep learning experience, especially with generative models, e.g., LLMs/VLMs, and/or reinforcement learning In accordance with Washington state law, we are highlighting our comprehensive benefits package, which is available to all eligible US based employees. In this hybrid role, you will report to the Head of Insurance Infrastructure You will: Lead the collection, compilation, and validation of underwriting data for insurance renewals across all lines of business. Manage Certificate of Insurance (COI) requests and review incoming vendor/contractor COIs to ensure compliance with Waymo's risk management standards. Review insurance binders, endorsements, policy documentation, and premium invoicing to verify precision against negotiated program terms and retentions. Partner cross-functionally with internal teams (Legal, Compliance, Operations) as the point of contact for routine insurance inquiries and requirements. Coordinate day-to-day processes with external partners, including insurance brokers, insurers, and other parties. You have: Exceptional attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and a thorough approach towards operational deliverables. A proactive, solution-oriented mindset and the ability to independently manage competing priorities with tight deadlines Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate insurance requirements and collaborate effectively across diverse internal and external partners. The Business Development (BD) and Strategic Partnerships team at Waymo plays a vital role in planning the autonomous vehicle (AV) pioneer’s commercial future and driving its go-to-market strategy. Operating with an entrepreneurial mindset, this cross-functional team leverages both quantitative and qualitative analysis to identify, negotiate, and execute "first-of-kind" agreements that expand Waymo's commercial deployment globally. Ultimately, the team acts as a bridge between Waymo’s cutting-edge engineering and the physical world, building the commercial networks required to scale its driverless technology safely and sustainably.

In this hybrid role, you will report to a Strategic Partnerships Manager, Lead.

You will:

Lead end-to-end partner management: Drive partner strategy, RFP selection, contract negotiation, and ongoing partner performance with payment processors, acquirers, networks, and fintech partners
Collaborate with Product and Engineering to design, scale, and launch Waymo’s global payment infrastructure into new markets and territories
Lead cross-functional workstreams across Finance, Product, Engineering, Accounting, and Legal to drive sucessful business outcomes
Structure and negotiate complex, first-of-its-kind commercial international agreements
Establish deep relationships with C-level executives across key financial institutions and tech partners to ensure long-term alignment and joint innovation

You have:

8+ years of experience in partner management in payments, fintech, banking, or technology
Demonstrated track record structuring and negotiating complex commercial deals across the payments ecosystem
Experience leading workstreams with cross-functional stakeholders in Product, Legal, Engineering, Finance, Accounting, and other functions
Experience managing C-level relationships with external partners

We prefer:

Deep domain expertise in global payments infrastructure (e.g., tokenization, card network rules, interchange mechanics, local payment methods, or digital wallets)
Proven track record of building a payments international infrastructure product roadmap to support a high transaction-volume business
Exceptional communication skills with the ability to influence senior decision-makers internally and externally
Comfort working in extremely high-paced, ambiguous environments

In this hybrid role, you will report to the Head of Operations Partner Management You will: Champion Operational Integration & Expansion: Serve as the primary advocate for the partner allowing them to launch and expand while facilitating two-way feedback loops to identify internal bottlenecks and streamline partner processes across cross-functional teams. Lead Structured Governance: Establish and manage Monthly and Quarterly Business Reviews (MBRs/QBRs) to track key performance indicators and evaluate relationship health, and develop strategic partner roadmaps. Drive Performance and Accountability: Deliver data-driven feedback and advise on corrective action plans or improvement strategies when service levels fall below established standards on a partnership level. Manage Overall Operational Engagement: Act as the central communication bridge for the partnership, proactively flagging contractual risks to the Partnerships team and ensuring unwavering alignment with internal expectations. Ensure Regulatory and Operational Compliance: Apply deep expertise to guide partners through initial business setup and ongoing steady-state operations to ensure adherence to global standards. Resolve Complex Operational Challenges: Bridge the gap between partners and internal teams to facilitate clear communication and provide timely resolution for high-level escalations. Promote Partner-Centric Solutions: Regularly collect feedback and advocate for the partner’s perspective to drive continuous improvement and ensure the sustained, long-term success of the partnership. You have: 6-8+ years of experience in partner operations, customer success, or account management within a high-growth technology environment. Proven track record of managing complex partner-facing programs and leading structured governance cadences. Excellent communication and executive presence skills necessary to engage, influence, and align with C-suite and senior leadership at external partner organizations. Strong analytical proficiency with the ability to synthesize performance data into actionable feedback and long-term strategic roadmaps. Self-directed problem solver capable of identifying internal bottlenecks and advocating for partner-centric solutions across cross-functional teams. We prefer: Data-Driven Process Improvement: Proficiency in using Lean, Six Sigma, or similar process improvement methodologies to measure the efficacy of a process. Performance Management Expertise: Proven track record of defining Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Service Level Agreements (SLAs) for external partners or internal operations. Strategic Planning and Modeling Experience: Confidence with developing strategic growth roadmaps, driving partner alignment and basic spreadsheet modeling, preferably with physical assets. Travel Requirement: < = 25% of the year is spent traveling for in-person time with your team and to observe / work with partner operations The expected base salary range for this full-time position across US locations is listed below. Actual starting pay will be based on job-related factors, including exact work location, experience, relevant training and education, and skill level.
