ABOUT CARTESIA
Our mission is to architect AI that learns from and interacts with the world like humans do.
We're pioneering the model architectures that will make this possible. Our founding team met as PhDs at the Stanford AI Lab, where we invented State Space Models or SSMs, a new primitive for training efficient, large-scale foundation models. Our team combines deep expertise in model innovation and systems engineering paired with a design-minded product engineering team to build and ship cutting edge models and experiences.
We're funded by leading investors at Index Ventures and Lightspeed Venture Partners, along with Factory, Conviction, A Star, General Catalyst, SV Angel, Databricks and others. We're fortunate to have the support of many amazing advisors, and 90+ angels across many industries, including the world's foremost experts in AI.
About the Role
The Data & Strategy Team reports directly to Cartesia's founders and shapes our models capabilities. We work alongside researchers to find where models break, through evals and direct customer conversations, and then fix them by sourcing high quality data. We're looking for people who bring technical depth, operational rigor, and high agency, who want to have a lot of impact.
As a Data & Strategy Lead, you'll have broad ownership and autonomy to shape one of the most important inputs to frontier AI models. You'll work across research, product, and go-to-market teams, make decisions with incomplete information, and build new processes from the ground up. If you enjoy solving ambiguous problems, learning quickly, and creating leverage through systems, you'll thrive in this role.
Your Impact
- Partner tightly with research and modeling teams to find where models fail, through evals and direct customer conversations.
- Design, source, and maintain the evals that define quality for our models. Ground them in observed customer failures, benchmark continuously against other systems, and turn the results into concrete data requirements.
- Establish new sources of human data to advance model performance, building collection pipelines from scratch, and own data quality from acquisition through delivery.
- Stay close to the research. Read papers, understand what datasets move which capabilities, and collaborate with the team on what data to collect next.
- Be commercially minded. Engage with customers, enable the GTM team, and drive revenue growth.
Principles for the role
- Bias for action
- Extreme ownership, low ego
- Ability to operate in ambiguous environments
- High standards and accountability
- Bar raiser
- Outcomes oriented
- Winning mentality
What You Bring
- 3–10 years of experience in high-ownership roles (e.g., founder, GM, or strategy/ops at a startup).
- Technical fluency with data and operations; SQL proficiency required.
- Holds themselves and other to a high bar, bias to action, and strong attention to detail.
- Comfortable with ambiguity and rapid pace.
- Low-ego, collaborative, and mission-driven, focused on team and company success.
Nice to Have
- Experience in AI/ML data operations or large-scale operations
- Background in audio, speech, or language-related workflows
- Background in CS, industrial engineering, or similar.
Note: Cartesia participates in E-Verify and will provide the federal government with Form I-9 information to confirm employment eligibility after hire.

ABOUT THE ROLE
Cartesia is hiring for Workplace Operations to own internal events, provide light administrative support to our founders, and to grow into leading the search for and buildout of our next office, plus new international hubs as we expand globally.
This is a high-trust, high-agency role. You'll be the person who makes Cartesia a place the team is proud to show up to and bring candidates into, the one the founders rely on to keep their day-to-day running smoothly, and the one who builds and runs every new space we open as we scale.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Own internal events & culture programming: Plan and execute team events, from small happy hours to in-office fireside chats events, end-to-end and without hand-holding.
- Support the founders: Handle light administrative work, including calendar, travel, ad hoc requests, with the speed and discretion it requires.
- Run day-to-day office operations: Keep supplies stocked, vendors managed, and the office running before anyone notices something could break.
- Manage vendors & budget: Track spend, negotiate contracts, and flag anomalies or cost-saving opportunities before they become problems.
- Own the office component of onboarding: Make sure every new hire's desk, equipment, and access are ready on day one.
- Lead the search for Cartesia's next office: Own site selection, tours, lease negotiation, design/buildout, and move logistics end-to-end. This will be your biggest project next year.
- Stand up new international hubs: As we open new offices globally, own the space, local vendors, and experience in every new location.
WHAT YOU BRING
- 2–5 years of office management, workplace coordination, recruiting coordination or executive/administrative support at a fast-moving company, ideally in tech or a startup environment.
- Vendor and facilities management experience. You know how to negotiate, hold vendors accountable, and escalate when needed.
- Budget management comfort. You can track spend, flag overruns, and think in cost-per-employee terms.
- Comfortable providing light administrative/executive support to founders or senior leadership, with the discretion and responsiveness that requires.
- Comfortable with ambiguity. You've operated where the process didn't exist yet and built it while running.
- Genuinely care about making spaces and experiences better. You take pride in the details most people don't notice.
- Genuinely excited about people and culture, not just logistics. You're the person hyping up the room, not just running it
NICE TO HAVE
- Experience at a company that went through rapid headcount growth. Have been the first Office Manager at a company and built the function from scratch.
- Have led or closely supported an office search, lease negotiation, or HQ relocation.
- Experience standing up a new office in a new city or country.
Note: Cartesia participates in E-Verify and will provide the federal government with Form I-9 information to confirm employment eligibility after hire.

Are you a strong software engineer who's passionate about data, distributed systems, and delivering impact at scale? Are you looking for a values-driven company that invests in its people and gives you the autonomy to shape critical systems, while staying close to the code?
We're looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join Elliptic's Product-Engineering organisation, focusing on data engineering solutions that power our blockchain analytics and intelligence products. This is a hands-on engineering role: as a senior member of the team, you will spend the majority of your time designing, building, and shipping the data platform yourself, while driving the technical direction that ensures it continues to meet the growing demands of blockchain analysis.
Challenges include building a blockchain-agnostic solution that scales globally, processing large batch and streaming datasets, and solving complex data processing problems that give our customers deep insights into the flow of value across the crypto ecosystem.
Elliptic is building an AI fluent workforce. We invest in the tools, training and time for our teams to use AI well: every Elliptite has access to Claude, and we expect AI to be a normal part of how you work, not an occasional add on. We are not looking for people who use AI the most. We are looking for people who use it best, with curiosity, sound judgment and full ownership of what they ship.
Across our Product, Engineering, Design and Intelligence we’re going beyond giving everyone the tools. We’re setting new standards. Using AI to transform how we build and work every day to deliver on our market opportunity. Put another way our teams iterate alongside agentic systems applying judgement to build world class systems.
What that looks like for this role is set out below.
The impact you will have
Our data and intelligence platform sits at the heart of everything we do. As a senior engineer, you will personally design and build data systems that serve as the backbone of all Elliptic products. By collaborating across blockchain, intelligence and product teams, you will deliver innovative features that help the world fight financial crime and increase transparency in the crypto space. Very few engineering roles have such clearly measurable real-world impact.
You will also help us excel in engineering excellence by mentoring and upskilling our highly-engaged and passionate engineers, by championing best practices, and holding yourself and your team to a high standard.
What you will do
Write, ship, and maintain production code as a hands-on engineer.
Architect, design, and implement large-scale distributed data systems and pipelines.
Contribute to technical decision-making across batch and streaming data solutions.
Collaborate with engineers, product managers, data scientists, and intelligence analysts to build customer-focused products.
Explore and integrate new technologies (e.g. data orchestration or cloud-native tools) to optimise performance and scalability.
Take shared ownership of data systems, from design to deployment and ongoing improvement and support.
Perform thoughtful peer reviews that raise code quality and share best practices across the team.
Contribute to platform-wide initiatives that improve reliability, observability, and cost efficiency.
Help shape the technical roadmap for data engineering across Elliptic.
This role requires ‘Adoptive’ AI fluency. This means AI has already changed how you work, not just how fast. We expect you to enjoy leveraging AI and agentic systems to operate more effectively.
Enjoy end-to-end ownership, from writing the code to architecture design to coaching others through delivery.
Strive for engineering excellence and scalable, sustainable systems.
Use data and experimentation to guide decisions.
Communicate openly and collaborate across teams.
Support and coach less-experienced engineers.
Believe every challenge is an opportunity to simplify and innovate together.
Enjoy working with AI to benefit the company, your team and yourself.
What we are looking for
Hands-on production experience with Scala and functional programming.
Ability to design, build, and maintain distributed data systems in a cloud-based environment.
Hands-on experience with big data frameworks such as Spark or Databricks.
Knowledge of cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
Judgement to balance scalability, performance, and maintainability.
Experience with data modelling and workflow orchestration.
Bonus points for
Experience in stream processing frameworks and event-driven architecture.
Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation).
Experience working in containerised environments (Docker, Kubernetes).
Interest in AI-driven tooling for engineering workflows.
Interest in crypto and blockchain technologies.
How we work:
Hybrid working: The option to work from almost anywhere for up to 90 days per year.
Remote Work Budget: $650 budget to set up your home office space.
Learning & Development:
L&D Budget: $1,000 annual Learning & Development budget to use on anything (agreed with your manager) that contributes to your growth and development.
Vacation / Leave:
Holidays: 25 days of annual leave + US Public Holidays.
Birthday Leave: An extra day off for your birthday.
Enhanced Parental Leave: We provide eligible employees, regardless of gender or whether they become a parent by birth or adoption, 16 weeks fully-paid leave.
Benefits:
Healthcare: Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage through a range of providers (including Tufts, Kaiser, Aetna, UHC, and Blue Shield of CA) with generous premium contributions for you and your dependents.
401k: Company match included.
Mental Health: Full access to Spill mental health support.
We know Diversity and Inclusion is much deeper than just hiring, but it’s important for us to mention it here. We welcome and embrace individuals of all backgrounds and identities at Elliptic, and this is an ongoing priority for us. We know incredible people don’t all think in the same way. We want to be challenged every day. We believe our diverse team of individuals underpins this by bringing creative thinking and innovation to Elliptic every day. We are committed to creating a diverse, inclusive and equitable workplace, so we welcome applications from everyone, even if you may not think you fit all of the requirements of our roles.
