Who We’re Looking For We are seeking a hands-on Buyer to own the purchasing system while also driving shipping, receiving, and incoming hardware inspection for spacecraft development and manufacturing. This role serves as the primary procurement owner for engineering and operations, ensuring critical flight hardware, materials, and services are sourced competitively, purchased accurately, delivered on time, and received with rigor and diligence. This is a hardware-forward role and is ideal for someone who enjoys working closely with suppliers, negotiating and managing purchases, coordinating with engineers, and maintaining direct visibility into the hardware that powers our spacecraft. Where You’ll Make an Impact Own the end-to-end purchasing process that directly supports spacecraft development and manufacturing Manage supplier relationships, purchase orders, lead times, and procurement activities to ensure uninterrupted support of engineering and production programs Ensure engineers have the right parts, materials, and services on time to meet aggressive build and test schedules Act as the primary interface between Quantum Space and its vendors, helping keep programs moving without supply chain surprises Manage shipping and receiving process for hardware and items that are purchased Verify incoming hardware and materials meet purchasing and quality requirements before entering inventory or production Improve purchasing processes, documentation, supplier performance, and vendor coordination as the company scales What It Takes 3+ years of experience in purchasing, procurement, supply chain, or sourcing operations Experience owning a purchasing or ERP system and managing purchase orders end to end Experience working directly with suppliers to obtain quotations, manage deliveries, and resolve procurement issues Ability to work closely with engineers to translate technical requirements into accurate purchases Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in a fast-paced, hardware-driven environment Clear and professional communication skills with both internal stakeholders and external vendors Nice-to-Have Experience Experience in aerospace, space, defense, or other complex hardware manufacturing environments Familiarity with mechanical, electrical, or spacecraft components and BOMs Experience supporting R&D, prototype builds, or low-rate production Background working at a startup or small, fast-moving engineering company Experience with supplier onboarding, vendor performance tracking, and strategic sourcing initiatives What You’ll Get Ownership – Own and operate the purchasing system and procurement processes that support spacecraft development and manufacturing Impact – Enable engineers and programs to execute on schedule by ensuring critical components, materials, and services are sourced reliably and on time Collaboration – Work directly with engineers, manufacturing, quality, and suppliers to solve real supply chain challenges tied to flight hardware Growth – Expand your expertise in aerospace procurement, supplier management, strategic sourcing, and hardware-driven supply chain operations as the company scales Compensation – Competitive salary, equity, and comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision, generous leave, HSA, 401(k) matching, and equity sharing Location: Rockville, MD or Hawthorne, CA  Base Salary: $50,000 – 100,000 The salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors.
