ABOUT CHECK
Payroll is broken. It's still running on decades-old infrastructure. We're rebuilding it.
We don't run payroll ourselves — we power the businesses that do. As the inventors of embedded payroll, we're redefining how people get paid and making it easier for those businesses to launch, grow, and thrive.
On our team, you'll use creative problem-solving, critical thinking, and grit to simplify the complexity of payroll for thousands of employers of every size, across all industries. We ignore conventional role boundaries in favor of the unique strengths and values each builder brings to our mission: make paying people simple. Check out our origin story! https://app.notion.com/p/checkhq/The-Generalist-Check-Solving-the-150-Billion-Payroll-Problem-3b24274a2e75804e9141cfac60476d25?source=copy_link
Check is far more than just API infrastructure. We’re a springboard for building and scaling payroll businesses. See how it works for our partners. https://www.checkhq.com/partners
ABOUT THIS ROLE
Check makes paying and filing taxes simple, enabling our partners to build best-in-class payroll businesses. The Tax Support team is core to that promise: working through tax notices, getting on the phone with agencies when needed, and making sure partners always know where things stand.
As Partner Support Lead for our team managing tax notices, you will become a player/coach in the area. The people on your team bring years of payroll tax experience to the work; your job is making sure they can do their best with it.
If you've spent years being the person everyone goes to, running the client relationship, owning the hard escalation, onboarding the new hire, but haven't had the title to match, this role is designed for exactly that transition. We're deliberately looking for operators with startup instincts over domain expertise, and we'll invest in the rest.
IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL:
- Run the team's operating rhythm: stand ups, queue visibility, escalation paths, and cross-functional coordination
- Learn the work well enough to step in on coverage gaps, complex escalations, or situations where a senior hand is needed
- Help shape how the team operates: documentation, workflows, escalation paths, communication standards
- Identify patterns across the team's work and bring forward recommendations, not just observations
- Partner directly with the head of the department as a thought partner on team strategy, resourcing, and operational decisions
TOOLS FOR THE JOB
The ideal candidate will have:
- 4-6+ years in operations or client service.
- Startup or high-growth company background.
- A track record of informal or formal people management. You've been the person others come to, and you know how to move a team without always having formal authority.
- Strong communication skills. You can translate between team-level detail and leadership-level framing, and you know which audience needs which version.
- A genuine learner. You'll be getting fluent in a niche domain on the job, and you find that interesting rather than uncomfortable.
Nice to have’s:
- Fintech experience is a plus, and payroll or tax background sets you apart.

We invite you to be part of an ambitious team dedicated to ensuring every learner can navigate the future with curiosity, resilience, and a love of learning.
About The Role:
As part of the CX team, you'll handle escalated tickets from parents and teachers - the ones without an obvious answer, where you'll be making independent judgment calls without a playbook for every situation. You'll also occasionally handle Trust & Safety escalations, which can include sensitive content. We're looking for someone with strong investigative, decision-making, and writing skills who thrives on resolving complex, ambiguous issues in a fast-paced environment.
We prioritize candidates based in the San Francisco Bay Area. That said, we are open to candidates outside the Bay Area based on experience and fit.
Core Responsibilities:
Resolve escalated customer support tickets from parents and teachers, primarily via email
Investigate ambiguous situations and make sound decisions under time pressure
Handle occasional Trust & Safety escalations, which may involve sensitive content including reports related to minors, self-harm, or abuse
Communicate outcomes clearly and with care, including when the answer isn't what the customer hoped for
Share useful context and feedback from your ticket work with the broader CX team
Desired Experience & Skills:
Strong written communication, especially for difficult or sensitive conversations
Judgment under ambiguity: you can make a decision, explain your reasoning, and keep moving
Able to engage with occasional heavy content without it derailing your work
Comfortable working independently in a remote, fast-paced environment
Nice to Haves:
Experience in K–12 education
Startup experience
Prior experience with escalated support tickets
Prior exposure to Trust & Safety, content moderation, or other judgment-heavy work
Hours and Compensation:
Outschool recruits across the U.S. and Canada. This role is anticipated to work 35-40 hours per week, with an anticipated hourly rate of $25.00.
Benefits:
This is a contract role. As a contractor, benefits are not included; however, a full benefits package would be available if converted to a full-time employee.
Benefits & Culture:
At Outschool, we believe that taking care of one another enables us to do our best work. To us that means:
Shared Financial Success: Competitive salaries, stock options, and retirement plans
Health: Comprehensive medical, dental, vision, disability, and life insurance
Wellness: Annual wellness stipend, access to coaching & therapy, and pet wellness plans
PTO & Family Benefits: Generous PTO and family leave policies
Hybrid & Remote-Friendly: Outschool has a distributed team across the U.S. and Canada and an office in San Francisco. Bay Area-based employees work in the office part of the week and receive commute-related benefits. Team members outside the Bay Area remain fully remote, with support for expensable home office setup and internet to stay connected no matter where you are.
Lifelong Learners: Annual budgets for professional development and DEI learning; budgets for children to take Outschool classes
Community Impact: Outschool matches employee donations to eligible charities and supports Outschool.org’s nonprofit programs
Outschool is an equal opportunity employer. We view diversity as a moral imperative and competitive advantage. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status. We plan and structure our interviews to directly assess skills and experience.
If you require a reasonable accommodation to participate in the job application or interview process, please contact recruiting@outschool.com.
Benefits packages are included for full-time employees only. Please note benefits and perks may vary for employees based outside of the US and Canada.
Full-time employees must be a citizen or legal residents of the U.S. or Canada and reside in U.S. or Canada, unless specifically indicated otherwise.
Once you submit your application, Outschool will process your personal data to evaluate your candidacy for employment. Unless specifically indicated otherwise, we hire employees only in the U.S. and Canada. Applicants else where should be aware that we may discard your application upon submission or we may ask if you would like us to retain it later should there be consideration (this is not typical at all). If you are selected for interviewing, your data will be shared with interviewers and personnel involved in that process. If not hired, your application will be retained for one year in case there is another suitable role. You may opt out of this at any time. Please see our Employee/Applicant Privacy Notice for more detailed information. If applicable, as you progress through the process, we will be clear about what information is being asked for and what happens with that information.

At Vanta, our mission is to help businesses earn and prove trust. We believe that security should be monitored and verified continuously, and we empower companies to practice better security and prove it with ease. Vanta has a kind and talented team, and while some have prior security experience, many have been successful at Vanta without it.
As Vanta's Customer Success Manager, Strategic, you will serve as a trusted advisor to Vanta's largest and most complex customers—organizations with 10,000+ employees navigating sophisticated security and compliance landscapes. Unlike traditional CSM roles managing 20-30 accounts, you'll own a focused book of 5-10 strategic accounts, driving deep customer relationships, multi-quarter projects, and high-impact business outcomes.
The Strategic CS team plays a defining role in proving Vanta can serve the enterprise at scale. You'll partner closely with Strategic Account Executives and Account Managers to execute land and expand strategies, manage complex implementations, and guide executive stakeholders through their GRC program maturity journeys. Your work will directly influence Vanta's upmarket growth, product roadmap, and strategic positioning in the market.
What you’ll do as a Customer Success Manager, Strategic at Vanta:
- Serve as the primary trusted advisor for 5-10 of Vanta's most strategic customers, each with 10,000+ employees and highly complex organizational structures
- Lead enterprise-scale implementations, configurations, and optimizations of Vanta's Trust Management Platform across multi-business-unit, multi-geography organizations
- Build and maintain deep, multi-threaded executive relationships with CISOs, CIOs, Chief Compliance Officers, and other C-level stakeholders
- Partner closely with Strategic Account Executives and Account Managers to identify expansion opportunities, develop account growth strategies, and execute on land and expand motions
- Manage complex, multi-quarter projects that require coordination across customer teams, Vanta cross-functional partners, and external stakeholders
- Provide expert guidance on security best practices and compliance standards (SOC 2, ISO 27001, HIPAA, GDPR, etc.) tailored to large enterprise environments
- Drive strategic Executive Business Reviews (EBRs) and value realization conversations that align Vanta's capabilities with customer business outcomes and ROI
- Act as the voice of strategic customers to Vanta's product development teams, synthesizing feedback and influencing product roadmap priorities
- Proactively identify risks, develop mitigation strategies, and ensure long-term retention and customer advocacy
- Collaborate with Solutions Engineering, GRC SMEs, Support, and Product teams to deliver world-class customer experiences
How to be successful in this role:
- 10+ years of experience as a Customer Success Manager, Account Manager, or similar customer-facing role for a SaaS company
- Proven track record managing strategic or key accounts, with experience supporting customers with 10,000+ employees
- Experience managing a focused book of business (5-10 strategic accounts), not high-volume account management
- Demonstrated expertise in land and expand motions, working collaboratively with sales teams to identify and execute on growth opportunities within existing accounts
- Strong project management skills, with experience coordinating complex, multi-quarter initiatives across multiple stakeholders
- Executive presence and ability to build trusted relationships with C-level stakeholders, including CISOs, CIOs, and Chief Compliance Officers
- Experience handling complex onboarding, implementation, adoption, value realization, and renewal strategy for enterprise customers
- Self-starter with the ability to work autonomously in ambiguous, fast-paced environments
- Track record of being metrics and data-driven, with clear examples of driving customer health and business outcomes
- Experience running strategic Executive Business Reviews (EBRs) and value realization conversations with executive stakeholders
- Ability to navigate complex, multi-stakeholder organizations and align diverse groups around common goals
- Strong problem-solving skills and a bias for action, with the ability to get creative and roll with ambiguity
- Open to using AI to amplify their skills and strengthen their work - demonstrating curiosity, a willingness to learn, and sound judgment in applying AI responsibly to improve efficiency and impact.
What you can expect as a Vanta’n:
- Industry-competitive salary and equity
- Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage, with 100% of employee-only benefit premiums covered for most medical plans
- 16 weeks paid Parental Leave for all new parents
- Health & wellness stipend
- Remote workspace, internet, and cellphone stipend
- Commuter benefits for team members who report to the SF and NYC office
- Family planning benefits
- Matching 401(k) contribution with immediate vesting
- Flexible PTO policy, plus 80 hours of Sick Time
- 11 company-paid holidays
- Virtual team building activities, lunch and learns, and other company-wide events!
- Offices in SF, NYC, London, Dublin, Tel Aviv, and Sydney

About Vanta
We started in 2018, in the wake of several high-profile data breaches.
