About OpenRouter
OpenRouter is the open AI routing and infrastructure layer that enterprises use to access, manage, and optimize the best large language models across providers—without lock-in, capacity constraints, or unnecessary cost. We power some of the most advanced AI teams in the world by giving them the flexibility to move fast, scale confidently, and stay future-proof as models evolve.
As enterprise adoption of AI accelerates, OpenRouter sits at the center of how organizations operationalize LLMs across research, product, and production workloads.
About The Role
As a Customer Success Manager at OpenRouter, you will own a portfolio of hyper-growth, Enterprise accounts. Your goal is simple but demanding: Drive adoption, unlock outcomes and value, and lead inference growth. You will be the bridge between complex technical systems, clear business outcomes and commercial growth.
What You'll Do
Strategy and Adoption: You need to get into the weeds of what customers are building. Whether it’s an AI agent or a coding tool, you’ll create the plan that helps them use OpenRouter to its full potential.
Revenue and Outcome Ownership: You are responsible for keeping our customers around and helping them grow. You’ll lead the commercial talks and find ways to expand their usage across different product lines.
Strategic & Tactical Execution: One hour you’ll be presenting an ROI analysis to a CTO; the next, you’ll be diving into API documentation to help a lead engineer optimize their model routing. You enjoy translating from strategic to technical and back (on repeat).
Value Realization: Define and track "Success Criteria" for every customer. You will turn abstract AI goals into concrete ROI metrics, ensuring OpenRouter is a mission-critical partner and an important part of their AI strategy.
The Feedback Loop: Act as the data focused voice of the customer for our GTM, Product and Engineering teams, distilling learnings and friction points into roadmap priorities.
What We're Looking For
We are looking for a proactive AI Customer Success Manager. You don't wait for a customer to ask for help; you identify a drop in token usage or a new model release and reach out with a plan and strategy to drive adoption, value and growth.
Required Qualifications
AI-Native DNA: You have previously worked at an AI-first company (LLM labs, AI infrastructure, or high-growth GenAI apps). You understand the nuances of tokens, latency, context windows, and model routing.
Technical Platform Expertise: You come from a background in technical SaaS or API-first platforms. You are comfortable talking to developers and product managers in their own language.
Revenue Focused: You have a proven track record of owning a quota. You are comfortable navigating procurement, legal, and executive stakeholders to get a deal done.
Playbook Builder: You don’t just fix things once. You build the systems and guides that help us scale this to the next thousand customers.
Core Competencies
Strategic Agility: The ability to zoom out to the 10,000-foot view of the AI market and zoom in to the tactical details of a customer's implementation.
Commercial Grit: A proactive mindset regarding renewals and expansions. You see a renewal as an opportunity to re-sell the value, not a clerical task.
Analytical Rigor: You use data to tell a story. You can analyze usage trends to predict churn or identify a perfect moment for an upsell.
If you don't think you meet all of the criteria below but still are interested in the job, please apply. Nobody checks every box, and we're looking for someone who is excited to join the team.

Tax Support Specialist
Check · United States, United States

ABOUT CHECK
Payroll is broken. It's still running on decades-old infrastructure. We're rebuilding it.
We don't run payroll ourselves — we power the businesses that do. As the inventors of embedded payroll, we're redefining how people get paid and making it easier for those businesses to launch, grow, and thrive.
On our team, you'll use creative problem-solving, critical thinking, and grit to simplify the complexity of payroll for thousands of employers of every size, across all industries. We ignore conventional role boundaries in favor of the unique strengths and values each builder brings to our mission: make paying people simple. Check out our origin story! https://app.notion.com/p/checkhq/The-Generalist-Check-Solving-the-150-Billion-Payroll-Problem-3b24274a2e75804e9141cfac60476d25?source=copy_link
Check is far more than just API infrastructure. We’re a springboard for building and scaling payroll businesses. See how it works for our partners. https://www.checkhq.com/partners
THE WORK
At Check, we make paying and filing taxes seamless, enabling our partners to build best-in-class payroll businesses. As a Tax Support Specialist, you own a portfolio of tax agencies from end to end — meaning you're the person who knows them, handles what comes in from them, communicates on their behalf to partners, and gets resolution across the finish line.
This role will own end-to-end tax workflows. When a tax notice is received, a filing needs completed, or a partner has a tax question they can't untangle, it ends with you. You build fluency with your agencies, their quirks, their timelines, their preferred escalation paths and use that knowledge to drive fast, accurate outcomes for the partners who depend on us.
IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL:
- Own a defined set of federal, state, and local tax agencies end-to-end, including notice resolution, correspondence, corrections, and ongoing compliance across your portfolio
- Be the direct point of contact with agencies: picking up the phone, navigating agency processes, and following through until issues are fully resolved
- Communicate directly with partners about what's happening with their notices or tax accounts — translating complex agency interactions into clear, honest updates
- Balance and reconcile tax accounts within your agency portfolio, surfacing discrepancies and driving resolution
- Manage a queue of tax issues across your agencies, balancing urgency and complexity without losing track of what's open
- Recognize when patterns in your portfolio point to a larger systemic issue and bring that signal to the right people
TOOLS FOR THE JOB
The ideal candidate will have:
- 3–5 years of experience in payroll tax, tax operations, compliance, or notice resolution — with meaningful exposure to both agency communication and operational/filing work
- Genuine comfort on the phone with tax agencies and in writing to partners — you're clear, professional, and don't over-promise
- Experience with federal (IRS/SSA), state, and local agencies; ability to research and navigate unfamiliar ones when they come up
- Organized and methodical — you can carry a portfolio of open issues across multiple agencies without things slipping
- You solve first, escalate thoughtfully, and own outcomes through to completion
- A curiosity for the edge cases; unfamiliar notice types feel like puzzles, not blockers
TRAVEL & OFFICE POLICY
The Check team is distributed across the US. Roles can be remote, hybrid, or based in one of our offices in New York City or San Francisco. We offer ample opportunities and encourage employees to attend team offsites, events, and hackathons throughout year. All Checketeers gather in the spring for our annual 3-day company retreat.
For our in-office and hybrid employees, our offices are open all week. We provide meals on Tuesdays and Thursdays and there are regular happy hours, game nights, and other in-person events.
Remote work at Check requires the ability to perform all responsibilities without distraction or disruption, while maintaining quality, effective communication, and productivity.
