Architectural Designer
About Base
Base is America’s next-generation power company. We’re rebuilding the foundation of modern civilization–electricity–by deploying a vast network of distributed batteries that is transforming today’s fragile, centralized grid into a resilient and abundant system. We are engineers, operators, and creatives solving some of the most complex, interdisciplinary challenges of our time.
About the Role
The Architectural Designer produces, develops, and refines design solutions for Base's nationwide infrastructure and facilities. Operating with general direction and minimal supervision, you will take projects through every phase—working independently and collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to deliver robust technical and spatial solutions. This role spans a diverse range of project sizes and scopes, from advanced battery manufacturing plants and regional hubs to corporate spaces. You will own the creation of presentation drawings, 3D digital models, and detailed construction documentation while coordinating closely across disciplines. This demands a self-motivated professional who takes pride in design quality, respects schedule and budget rigor, and operates at the pace required to scale physical infrastructure.
What You’ll Do
Design & Model Production: Develop innovative architectural design solutions across projects varying in size and scope, producing high-quality presentation drawings, 3D models, and construction documentation.
Independent Execution: Perform architectural assignments with general direction and minimal direct supervision, balancing independent focus with active collaboration across project teams.
Building & Code Compliance: Assist in the review, development, and execution of design documents that satisfy local building codes, life safety standards, and accessibility regulations.
BIM & Multi-Disciplinary Coordination: Lead multi-trade BIM coordination, directly integrating MEPFP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, Fire Protection) systems into architectural design sets.
Research & Field Context: Research construction materials and products, as well as analyze existing structures and projects under construction, to directly inform and elevate design documentation quality.
Construction Administration: Support the execution of construction administration tasks, reviewing submittals and responding to field inquiries to keep builds moving forward.
Project Delivery Accountability: Contribute actively to team performance by ensuring project deliverables strictly adhere to quality benchmarks, timelines, and budget constraints.
What You’ll Bring
Experience & Background: 3–5 years of commercial and technical design experience; NCARB- accredited degree in Architecture required.
Licensure Status: Architectural license preferred, or actively working toward licensure.
Project Experience: Direct experience with corporate headquarters or flagship campus design projects is preferred.
Technical Software Fluency: Advanced proficiency in Revit, Enscape, Bluebeam, Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft Office; familiarity with AI image generation using Claude, ChatGPT, and Gemini for rapid visual concepts.
Complex Delivery Experience: Proven track record in detailed drawing execution and coordination on complex, multi-phased capital projects with minimal direct supervision.
Technical Integration: Deep practical knowledge of MEPFP coordination and digital BIM workflows.
Ownership & Drive: Well-organized, detail-oriented, and highly motivated with exceptional communication skills; eager to take on progressively more responsibility in a high-velocity environment.
About the Team
The Infrastructure & Development team builds and maintains the physical foundation that enables Base Power to operate and grow. We own the full lifecycle of capital projects—factory builds, manufacturing line installations, and headquarters—acting as the primary stewards of our physical footprint. We move fast, make decisions with confidence, and hold our design and construction partners to a high standard. Every project we deliver creates the physical conditions for Base Power to scale.
Please note: Base is a startup, which means priorities shift and evolve quickly. Your role may expand or change based on the needs of the business at any given time, so the responsibilities listed may not be exhaustive.
Our Values
First Principles Thinking: Question assumptions. Principles > rules.
Operate at Base Pace: Focus on what matters, act quickly, and learn by doing.
Give & Get Feedback: Be direct, be humble, and maintain a growth mindset.
Everyone’s an Owner: Follow through on commitments and own results.
Strong Opinions, Loosely Held: Drive clarity and make calls with imperfect information.
Committed to the Mission: Rebuilding the grid is a big challenge. We work hard because we care deeply about the impact we’re creating. We work in-person. It’s not a 9-to-5. We are all-in.
Fun & Optimism Coexist with Grit: Collaboration and celebration coincide with the intensity of building real things.
Do the best work of your life at Base.

We work across nearly every part of the business, from launching new markets and supporting utility partnerships to helping homeowners understand a completely new kind of power company.
Unlike many design teams that focus on a single product or channel, our work spans digital experiences, physical products, sales enablement, marketing campaigns, events, and print.
