SPACEPORT DESIGNER, INTERIOR DESIGN
As a member of the Starbase Development team, you will have direct ownership of leading the aesthetic vision for Starbase, with a key focus on making all facilities inspiring places to work. You will directly manage all phases of projects from concept development through execution. You will work with a group of elite engineers, architects and construction project managers across multiple disciplines to build out the Starbase campus as the gateway to Mars. This position is based in Starbase, Texas. (Brownsville/South Padre Island Area).
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coordinates with stakeholders and end users to define project requirements, evaluate project feasibility and perform spatial planning
- Prepares design development documents, presentations, renders and material pallets to communicate design intent
- Produces drawings, elevations, sections, specifications, and schedules with attention to details
- Compiles database of existing finishes and FF&E specifications and manages color & material studio
- Prepares cohesive design standards for sitewide development, and ensures consistency and maintenance of the SpaceX and Starbase brand
- Manages procurement and oversees installation of design elements
- Partners with cross-departmental teams to define requirements and derive design details for all functional and utility needs
- Performs project control tasks, including project scheduling, budgeting, and cost control. Designs all elements of project to meet target budgets
- Resolves design and construction conflicts in the field in real time
- Takes on new projects ad-hoc as the business needs
- Strong written and verbal communication skills

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree
- 2+ years of experience creating design documents including plans, elevations, specifications and schedules
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's degree or master's degree in architecture, interior design, or related design discipline
- Experience in designing spaces that are modern, minimalist, and/or futuristic
- Experience in designing physical environments or branding for commercial and hospitality spaces
- Experience in selection of finishes, furniture, fixtures, equipment, and artwork for industrial and commercial projects
- Experience designing custom art pieces, including murals, sculptures or other exhibitions
- Proficiency in Revit, Sketchup, Revu Bluebeam, and/or AutoCAD software

Sr. Tooling Designer, Injection Molding

SR. TOOLING DESIGNER, INJECTION MOLDING
SpaceX is leveraging its experience in building rockets and spacecraft to deploy Starlink, the world’s most advanced broadband internet system. Starlink is the world’s largest satellite constellation and is providing fast, reliable internet to 10M+ users worldwide. We design, build, test, and operate all parts of the system – thousands of satellites, consumer receivers that allow users to connect within minutes of unboxing, and the software that brings it all together. We’ve only begun to scratch the surface of Starlink’s potential global impact. As we continue to upgrade and expand the constellation, we’re looking for best-in-class engineers to join the team.
As part of the materials engineering team, you will provide expertise and capabilities to developing processes for the production of plastic injection molds. You will make an impact on SpaceX’s Starlink product components alongside a strong group of mechanical and process engineers. The goal of the team is to develop new manufacturing methods, commission equipment and qualify processes to be introduced into production.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Own parting line development and surfacing of in-house molds and components
- Responsible for all design for manufacturability (DFM) studies on plastic injection molded components
- Own and manage the feasibility and surfacing of critical mold components
- Interpret mold filling simulations and cooling analyses to drive feasibility and tool design
- Design tools to be manufactured in-house
- Support external tool designs and attend mold trials at vendor shops
- Ensure designs are safe, effective, and manufacturable
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- 5+ years of professional experience as a designer
- 3+ years of feasibility and mold flow analysis
- Experience with Siemens NX
- Experience with designing injection molds
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Extensive knowledge of standard mold components
- Experience with hot runner systems
- Knowledge of mold flow analysis
- Experience with multi-shot, compression and other tooling
- Knowledge of drafting practices and principles
- Understanding of strength of materials, automation, part assembly and process control techniques

Architectural Designer

ARCHITECTURAL DESIGNER
As a member of the SpaceX Construction & Engineering team you will be directly responsible for translating engineering and production requirements into executable plans. You will also manage and update campus maps and individual building drawings as the needs of the business evolve. You will work with a group of elite engineers across multiple disciplines to design, build, and activate infrastructure that will enable orbital launch capability for the largest rocket in the world. This position is based in Hawthorne, CA.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and modify preliminary equipment layouts based on customer input.
- Produce documents to assist with securing construction contractor bids.
- Create as-built documents for projects after completion of construction.
- Intgrate 3rd party vendor drawings into existing building drawing sets.
- Convert files from Teamcenter, Sketch-up, Revu Bluebeam, PDF, or others into Revit and AutoCAD.
- Perform feasibility assessments of proposed projects from architectural, fire/life safety, structural, and MEP standpoint.
- Provide baseline preconstruction services, including preliminary budget estimates/schedules.
- Liaise end user project requests with external design consultants and internal construction/facilities groups.
- Steer external design consultants towards completed construction plan sets for execution.
- Coordinate permit acquisition/closeout with the City of Hawthorne.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalency certificate.
- 3+ years of experience creating architectural construction documents including plans, elevations, sections, and details.
- Experience with Revit, AutoCAD and Revu Bluebeam.
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's degree in architecture, construction management or other engineering discipline.
- Experience in construction, project management, and tenant improvement.
- Direct field experience with day to day management of aerospace, heavy industrial or large commercial construction projects.
- Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration (HVAC/R), concrete, framing, and industrial gas trade.
- Able to read instructions and construction plans.

SR. GRAPHIC DESIGNER, MERCHANDISING AND EVENTS
This role is responsible for the design and development of merchandise at SpaceX. These items will be sold through our online store including, but not limited to apparel, mission patches, soft goods, tech items and other curated products. This role will work closely with our engineers and cross-functional departments to deliver designs that meet customers and employee’s needs. This is a unique opportunity to join a team bringing new ideas and designs to SpaceX, while contributing to the overall mission to excite the public about space travel and make life multiplanetary.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Collaborate with the merchandise team to design new products, using key company milestones to inform design strategy.
- Design customer gifting items, including but not limited to mission patches, signing gifts, product for conferences and event-specific gifts.
- Own the product design process from initial design to production hand off, ensuring new products meet deadlines for product release dates.
- Work closely with the customer team to design and create company mission patches and provide multiple file types for varying use cases.
- Design and maintain tech packs, fit charts, color standards, and fabric specifications.
- Assist in developing and producing graphics, typography, and layouts for social, web, and print.
- Effectively manage multiple projects/tasks of varying complexities, meet deadlines and work well under pressure.
- Prepare designs for final production, including, but not limited to, printer and vendor specs.

As a Color, Material, and Finish Designer on the Starlink team, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping the look, feel, and quality of next-generation consumer electronics and hardware that connect the world. You’ll contribute to the full development and execution of innovative materials, colors, and finishes, bringing deep expertise to elevate product aesthetics, durability, and user experience while pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in high-volume manufacturing.
You’ll lead CMF innovation, select and implement the highest-quality materials and processes, and collaborate closely with design, engineering, and operations teams as well as external suppliers to deliver production-ready solutions.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Analyze, refine, and approve colors, materials, and finishes across active projects to ensure they meet the highest standards of quality and brand alignment
- Curate and maintain a robust internal library of cutting-edge, inspirational materials and finishes, proactively sourcing innovative options to fuel Starlink’s design evolution
- Ideate, visualize, and develop compelling CMF design proposals that push creative and technical boundaries
- Craft impactful digital and physical CMF presentations that articulate a bold, forward-looking vision for the Starlink product ecosystem

- Sketch, storyboard, and ideate impactful concepts for physical packaging, print collateral, and user-facing graphics

- Support A/B testing for the unboxing experience and installation guides, rapidly iterating based on feedback

- 1+ years of professional design experience in illustration, graphic design, or print production
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- 2+ years of professional graphic design experience, ideally within a creative agency or consumer tech environment focused on digital products and packaging
- Mastery of industry-standard 2D tools including Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and Figma
- Experience with 3D visualization tools such as Blender, KeyShot, or equivalent
- Strong expertise in layout, color theory, typography, and visual systems to art-direct and produce compelling digital and physical assets
- Proven experience preparing production-ready files, understanding printer specifications, and successfully managing external print vendors
- Skilled at creating clean 2D assets, iconography, motion graphics, animation, and dynamic interactions that enhance user experience
- Advanced capabilities in image optimization, retouching, manipulation, and precise color correction
- Deep knowledge of digital production standards to deliver pixel-perfect, on-brand assets for both web/apps and high-volume physical print
- Exceptional visual and conceptual skills with the ability to solve complex problems and develop fresh, innovative design solutions

- This is not a remote or hybrid position and will require relocation if not already local to the Austin, TX area

GRAPHIC DESIGNER – MARKETING & COMMUNICATIONS
As a Graphic Designer, you will be responsible for leading the creative development and execution of a wide range of visual design projects with the ultimate goal of inspiring and educating the public. This position will play a critical role in bringing to life visual representations for both external and internal needs and require a keen eye for detail and execution.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Partner with the Communications, Content and Creative teams in producing assets across multiple platforms (print, digital, webcast and experiential graphic design)
- Sketch, storyboard, ideate, and generate new concepts based on stakeholder direction and self-driven research
- Own the creative process from design to execution on projects both internal and external facing
- Maintain the visual aesthetic of the brand
- Lead and manage projects ranging from simple design requests to managing complex print-ready materials
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree
- 1+ years of professional design experience in illustration, graphic design, or print production
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, art, web design, or advertising
- 2+ years of digital graphic/visual design experience, preferably in a creative digital agency setting working on digital products
- Experience with client management and full-cycle production of original content
- Expertise in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, After Effects)
- Expertise in visual quality assurance (VQA) of image size format, color format, and file delivery format
- Proficiency in PowerPoint and/or Keynote
- Proficiency with Figma
- Experience with image optimizing, retouching, manipulation, color corrections
- Experience in design, layout, color, and typography to art direct or produce digital assets, partnering with Product Designers
- Experience creating 2D digital assets/iconography
- Experience with animation, motion design, motion graphics work, and dynamic interactions
- Experience in industrial design or working with industrial designers
- Experience with UX/UI design
- Experience in printer spec language and output as well as working with outside print vendors and digital production
- Strong visual and conceptual skills to solve problems and create novel solutions
- Typeface and or illustration design skills
- Knowledgeable in industry standard digital production technologies for pixel-perfect branded design assets for web and apps
- A growing ability to develop innovative design work across all media
- Resourcefulness and ability to locate and archive assets independently
- Able to multi-task on design projects with a tireless work ethic
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross functional teams
- Excellent verbal, written, and visual communication skills
- Ability to maintain composure and articulate directives in an open, ever changing, fast paced environment
- Ability to stay organized, meet deadlines, and prioritize projects based on the business calendar

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
Pay range:
Level I: $80,000.00 - $95,000.00/per year
Level II: $90,000.00 - $115,000.00/per year
Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.
Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX.
