ENGINEERING
Senior Software Engineer, Product
New York City
Alloy is where you belong!
Alloy is the AI-powered identity and fraud prevention platform that accelerates onboarding, stops fraud, and scales compliance across the customer lifecycle so financial organizations can grow without limits. More than 900 of the world's leading financial institutions and fintechs trust Alloy for smarter risk management that drives growth.
Through our values: Be Bold, Go Fast, Collaborate, and Celebrate Our Differences, we are creating a workplace where you can grow, thrive, and belong. See how we’ve been continuously recognized and named one of Inc.Magazine’s Best Workplaces, Forbes America’s Best Startup Employers, Best Fintech to Work for by American Banker, year after year.
Check out our investors and read more about us here.
About the team
The Decisioning vertical of our engineering department builds the engine that powers how financial institutions evaluate, approve, and act on risk. We own the core rules, workflows, and data pipelines that financial organizations rely on to make real-time decisions at scale.
The Build - Oak team owns a central part of Decisioning: the core services institutions use to evaluate, approve, and act on risk in real time, at scale. We build tools that power the rules, workflows, and data pipelines behind those decisions: a flexible engine that teams extend across any kind of customer data, the lists clients use to flag, block, or approve accounts at scale, and the AI that explains why a case was flagged and what to do next.
Alloy operates in a hybrid-work environment. We look to foster collaboration and community by having our local employees onsite three days a week.
What you'll do
You'll own core pieces of the systems Alloy uses to catch fraud and risk at onboarding and throughout a customer's lifecycle, and help shape where our newest AI feature goes next, with real room to define the work yourself.
Design and ship performant Postgres queries and Node.js APIs for our decision engine, which lets financial institutions build custom fraud and risk checks across any type of customer data, built to hold up under real-time SLA constraints
Own, end to end, the systems that let clients maintain their own lists of people, accounts, or countries to automatically flag, block, or approve, keeping them fast and reliable on OpenSearch as they scale to millions of records
Build and extend the AI feature that explains why a case was flagged for manual review and recommends a decision, working with AWS Bedrock and async tools like SQS and webhooks.
Talk directly with internal stakeholders and, at times, customers and channel partners, to turn ambiguous requests into scoped, generalizable features
Partner with the rest of the team on system design decisions as Decisioning's services expand to support new enterprise-scale rollouts
Who we’re looking for
Must-haves:
5+ years of professional software engineering experience, with real ownership of backend services in production
Hands-on experience writing and optimizing SQL. You're comfortable reasoning about query plans, indexing, and performance under load, not just writing queries that work
Production experience with Node.js and TypeScript
Ability to gather requirements from an ambiguous ask, decide what to build, and iterate.
A track record of talking directly with internal stakeholders or customers to clarify scope, not just executing tickets handed down
Nice-to-haves:
Experience with OpenSearch, Elasticsearch, or a similar search and indexing system at scale
Experience integrating LLMs into a production feature, using Bedrock or a similar platform
Fintech, banking, or other regulated industry experience
React or similar frontend experience. This team leans backend, but we still ship full-stack when needed
We're a lean team, so your impact will be felt immediately, and opportunities will grow as the company scales up. If this all sounds like a good fit for you, why not join us?

About the team
The Frontend Platform team creates the foundations that make it easier for engineers to build high-quality product experiences quickly, consistently, and with confidence. We work across shared UI systems, frontend architecture, developer experience, performance, reliability, and the tools that help teams ship well.
This is a team for engineers who enjoy working at a leverage point. Instead of owning a single feature area, we shape the patterns, primitives, and workflows that many teams build on top of. Our work sits at the intersection of product engineering, design systems, and platform thinking, with a strong focus on creating durable solutions that improve the experience for both developers and end users.
We’re still an evolving team with room to define our scope and raise our ambition over time. That makes this an especially strong opportunity for someone who wants to help shape not just what gets built, but how frontend engineering is practiced. We’re excited about modern tooling, including AI-assisted and agentic workflows, and we believe the best engineers use them to extend strong judgment, not replace it.
Alloy operates in a hybrid-work environment. We look to foster collaboration and community by having our local employees onsite three days a week.
What you'll be doing
Lead the design and delivery of large, ambiguous frontend and platform investments that span multiple teams or product areas
Shape technical direction across the frontend stack through architecture, standards, and durable shared patterns
Build and improve both shared frontend foundations and customer-facing product surfaces
Partner closely with engineering, design, and product to turn broad needs into simple, scalable solutions with meaningful user and business impact
Raise the quality bar across teams through strong technical judgment, clear documentation, and improvements to developer experience, reliability, and engineering practices
Help shape effective use of AI and agentic engineering workflows in frontend development to improve leverage, quality, and delivery speed
Who we’re looking for
You’re a senior frontend engineer with 8+ years of experience, deep fundamentals in JavaScript or TypeScript, modern HTML and CSS, and experience building complex web applications with a modern framework such as React
You’ve led large, complex frontend or platform initiatives and influenced technical direction beyond your immediate team
You have strong engineering judgment and know how to balance user experience, product needs, maintainability, operational excellence, and delivery speed
You’re comfortable operating in ambiguity and can turn loosely defined problem spaces into clear technical direction and execution
You bring strong product and business context, and use it to influence prioritization and improve customer outcomes
You use AI-enabled tools thoughtfully and responsibly, with a high quality bar and without outsourcing core engineering thinking
We're a lean team, so your impact will be felt immediately, and opportunities will grow as the company scales up. If this all sounds like a good fit for you, why not join us?

What you’ll be doing
The Senior Technical Support Engineer is a highly experienced support professional who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and operates with significant autonomy. This role is designed for individuals who lead complex, cross-functional escalations, design long-term solutions to recurring issues, and act as trusted advisors across the company.
As a senior member of the Support team, you’ll represent Support in cross-departmental meetings, mentor junior team members, and lead key initiatives that improve team performance and the customer experience. You bring both strong technical expertise and a passion for solving real customer problems at scale.
Escalation Management & Complex Ticket Handling
Lead high-priority or complex support issues, including those involving multiple teams or external partners.
Serve as the escalation point for the Support team, confidently resolving edge cases and urgent matters.
Deliver concise and empathetic customer communication, and guide others in effective customer-facing messaging.
Participate in the team’s on-call rotation, helping to support urgent customer issues outside of standard business hours.
Technical Expertise & Strategic Contributions
Demonstrate deep expertise across multiple areas of the Alloy platform, with the ability to troubleshoot issues independently.
Design and implement solutions for recurring or systemic support issues.
Contribute to internal tooling and documentation improvements based on customer pain points.
Participate in product betas, incident reviews, and internal testing efforts to improve product quality and support readiness.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Represent the Support team in cross-functional meetings with Product, Engineering, and other internal stakeholders.
Influence roadmap and product quality conversations with data-driven feedback and customer context.
Take initiative to improve processes, suggest tooling enhancements, and drive adoption of team-wide initiatives.
Additional cross-team projects and responsibilities may be expected as part of this role.
Mentorship & Team Leadership
Provide mentorship to junior and mid-level engineers through onboarding, buddy programs, and informal coaching.
Help establish a culture of ownership, technical curiosity, and continuous improvement.
Lead by example in documentation, incident participation, and support operations.
What we’re looking for
3+ years of experience in technical support, ideally in a B2B SaaS environment.
Demonstrated ability to own and resolve high-stakes or technically complex issues.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, especially under pressure.
Experience working cross-functionally with Product and Engineering teams.
Proven ability to mentor others and contribute to a strong team culture.
Strong troubleshooting skills with APIs, logs, and developer tools.
Experience using Zendesk, Looker, Postman, or scripting languages like Python or Bash.
Previous participation in an on-call or incident response rotation.
Compensation for this role ranges from $105,000 - $125,000, as well as stock options.
Benefits and Perks
Unlimited PTO and flexible work policy
Employee stock options
Medical, dental, vision plans with HSA (monthly employer contribution) and FSA options
401k with 100% match up to 4% of annual employee compensation
Eligible new parents receive 16 weeks of paid parental leave

About the team
We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead our Developer Experience team within the Connection organization. This team owns Alloy's external-facing integration surface - the APIs, webhooks, and tooling that developers and partners use to connect with Alloy and build on top of our platform.
In this role, you will lead a team responsible for the systems and experiences that make Alloy easy to integrate with: our Events API, Outgoing Webhooks Service, partnership data feeds, external developer documentation, and the integrations that power Alloy's channel partner ecosystem. You will own the technical and strategic vision for how data flows in and out of Alloy at scale, and how external developers experience the platform - from first API call to production.
Alloy operates in a hybrid-work environment. We look to foster collaboration and community by having our local employees onsite three days a week.
What you'll be doing
The Engineering Manager's primary responsibility is their team. You will balance three key areas: recruiting and growing great engineers, supporting each person's development, and partnering with product and stakeholders to ship high-quality, high-impact work.
As the Engineering Manager, you will:
Lead, develop, and mentor a team of engineers through weekly 1:1s, career conversations, and hands-on technical guidance.
Own the roadmap and delivery for Alloy's developer-facing infrastructure — APIs, webhooks, data ingestion, and outbound data flows - ensuring reliability, scalability, and a great developer experience.
Partner closely with product, design, partnerships, and customer-facing teams to shape what gets built and why.
Drive technical strategy for the team's systems, including API design standards, event delivery guarantees, and integration patterns used by external developers.
Track and improve engineering health using DORA metrics and team-level KPIs; establish release and monitoring standards that keep quality high.
Recruit and hire strong engineers; own onboarding and ramp for new team members.
Communicate clearly across the organization — surface risks, resolve blockers, and keep stakeholders aligned on progress and trade-offs.
Who we’re looking for
We are looking for an Engineering Manager who has built and led teams working on developer-facing products, APIs, or platform infrastructure. An ideal candidate has::
8+ years in engineering with at least 3 years in an engineering leadership role.
A strong background in developer experience, API platform engineering, or developer tooling - you have shipped products that external developers integrate with and build on top of.
Deep familiarity with API design and HTTP/event-based integration patterns (REST, webhooks, async messaging); you can credibly lead technical discussions on API contract design, delivery guarantees, and integration reliability.
A track record of building and shipping high-quality systems at scale, with clear accountability for outcomes.
Technical fluency in modern backend stacks - strong with TypeScript/Node.js; comfortable reviewing code, debugging production issues, and contributing to architectural decisions.
Experience working with external partners or customers on integration work; you understand what makes a platform easy (or hard) to integrate with.
Experience leading sprint planning, goal-based project tracking, and cross-functional delivery.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to translate technical complexity for non-technical stakeholders and advocate for the team.
Experience recruiting, hiring, and onboarding engineers.
A servant-leader mindset - you lead by removing obstacles, pointing people in the right direction, and investing in the people around you.
Must be local to New York City and attend the office 3-4 days per week.
Nice to have:
Experience in high-growth product companies or startups.
Experience in fintech, financial services, or other regulated industries.
We're a lean team, so your impact will be felt immediately, and opportunities will grow as the company scales up. If this all sounds like a good fit for you, why not join us?
