Lead Software Engineer (Frontend) Fleet
Be part of the team that defends the networks the world depends on
Corelight defends the world’s most sensitive networks—from global commerce to national defense—quietly, relentlessly, and with resolve. As cyber threats grow faster and smarter, we serve as the trusted force behind network resilience, putting elite defense within reach.
By transforming digital footprints from physical, virtual, and cloud networks into actionable insights, we empower defenders to illuminate blind spots and stay ahead of an evolving threat landscape. Built on open-source innovations and fueled by industry leading agentic AI technology, Corelight helps teams to detect advanced threats and close cases with unprecedented clarity and precision.
As a Lead Software Engineer on our Fleet team, you'll set the technical direction for the frontend that security teams rely on to operate fleets of Corelight sensors — sometimes hundreds at a time — and act on the configuration, lifecycle, and operational data those fleets produce. You'll bridge sophisticated APIs and the intuitive interfaces our customers depend on — partnering closely with our Lead Backend Engineer and a dedicated UX designer to shape an experience that lets defenders move with speed and precision. This is a role for a high-agency engineer who owns outcomes end-to-end: technical direction, frontend architecture, craft, and the user experience itself.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Drive End-to-End Frontend Architecture: Lead the technical design, implementation, and operation of the Fleet Manager UI—owning state management, data layers, module boundaries, performance tuning, and the long-term technical roadmap.
- Co-own the User Experience: Partner closely with a dedicated UX designer to define interaction patterns, refine complex data workflows, and make thoughtful product/UX trade-offs. Translate high-fidelity wireframes into accessible, performant, and delightful interfaces.
- Build for Real Operational Scale: Integrate complex REST and GraphQL APIs to power interactive interfaces that remain highly responsive when customers manage hundreds of live sensors concurrently.
- Steward the Design System: Champion the continuous evolution of our component library, ensuring consistency, reusability, and clean UI architecture across an expanding product surface area.
- Technical Leadership & Mentorship: Elevate frontend engineering standards through architectural guidance, rigorous code reviews, and the promotion of clean, maintainable code. Play a key role in frontend hiring, interviewing, and onboarding to scale the team.
- Leverage AI-Assisted Engineering: Utilize modern AI-assisted development tools effectively to accelerate velocity while holding auto-generated code to the same rigorous quality, security, and testing standards as hand-written code.
- Security-First Engineering: Evaluate UI changes for security implications—including authentication/authorization flows, strict RBAC enforcement, XSS mitigation, and safe sensitive data handling—partnering with backend and security teams to neutralize risks.
- API Collaboration: Partner with the Lead Backend Engineer on REST and GraphQL contract designs, utilizing OpenAPI specs to ensure frontend and backend architectures evolve in lockstep.
- Operational Excellence: Own features completely from design to production by embedding automated test suites, CI/CD pipelines, performance budgets, and web accessibility checks directly into the core workflow.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities needed to be successful:
- Core Values Alignment: You natively embody "low ego results," "tireless service," and "applied curiosity" in your daily engineering practices and team interactions.
- Product & User Empathy: You are passionate about building interfaces that simplify dense, complex data representations into intuitive workflows for security defenders.
- Systems Thinking: You look beyond isolated components to understand how state, data flow, and frontend architecture tightly integrate across a massive, enterprise-scale application.
- Decisive Problem Solving: You comfortably navigate ambiguity, balance conflicting technical constraints, and make rapid, high-impact architectural decisions.
- Strategic Communication: You possess strong written and verbal communication skills used to influence product direction, align distributed teams, and articulate technical trade-offs clearly.
Qualifications/Requirements:

As a Senior UI Engineer for the Fleet Manager product, you will play a crucial role in leading the development and architecture of the frontend systems that enable clients to manage a fleet of sensors at scale and act on complex security data. This is a role for a high-agency engineer who doesn't just build components, but owns the user experience from end-to-end. You will bridge the gap between sophisticated data-heavy APIs and intuitive user interfaces, ensuring our customers can secure their enterprise with speed and precision.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Architect & Develop Modern UI: Design, develop, and maintain modern, scalable web applications using React + Typescript and related frontend technologies to drive the Investigator product forward.
- Contribute to the Frontend Lifecycle: Help with the implementation of complex user flows by translating wireframes and UX designs into high-quality, accessible, and performant UI components.
- Data-Intensive Integration: Work with the integration and consumption of GraphQL and REST APIs to power interactive, data-heavy visual interfaces capable of handling massive network datasets.
- Uphold Technical Excellence: Maintain and elevate code quality through rigorous testing, detailed documentation, and sophisticated code reviews.
- Autonomous Agile Delivery: Navigate agile development workflows—including sprint planning, retrospectives, and daily standups—with high independence and a focus on delivery.
Being successful on this team requires the ability to:
- Engineering Craft: Take pride in writing clear, well-structured, and maintainable code, and care deeply about long-term quality over short-term fixes.
- Systems Thinking: Think beyond individual components, understanding how state, data, and UI architecture work together across a large application.
Product & User Empathy: Care about building interfaces that help users understand complex data quickly, and they make thoughtful tradeoffs in service of usability. - Ownership & Accountability: Take responsibility for outcomes, follow work through from design to production, and continuously improve what they ship.
- Collaboration & Communication: Communicate clearly, welcome feedback, and work effectively across engineering, design, and product to solve hard problems together.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Professional Experience: 3 to 7 years of professional software development experience, with a proven track record in senior level roles.
- Frontend Mastery: Advanced in working with JavaScript/Typescript, Design Library Components, and React.
- Data & API Proficiency: Experience building and consuming GraphQL and REST APIs to support rich, data-heavy visual user interfaces.
- Architectural Knowledge: Solid understanding of relational databases to better partner with backend teams.
- UX Partnership: Significant experience working directly with UX Design Teams to refine and implement complex user flows.
- Agile Fluency: Experience adopting and using Agile development methodologies within high-performing engineering teams.
- Communication: Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across multiple teams and influence technical outcomes.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related fields, or equivalent professional experience.
