This is an L5 opportunity. Successful candidates typically come from staff or principal-level roles and are recognized for establishing technical direction, leading large-scale initiatives, and shaping engineering strategy across organizations.
About the role
Envoy is the integrated workplace platform that connects people, spaces, and data, redefining how companies welcome visitors, book desks and rooms, manage deliveries, run emergency notifications, and surface unified workplace analytics across 16,000+ locations globally. Companies like Slack, Pinterest, and Warby Parker rely on Envoy to keep their workplaces secure, compliant, and running smoothly. We're a cross-functional team of frontend, backend, and mobile engineers building a modular platform that powers products enterprises actually enjoy using.
As a Staff Full-Stack Engineer (L5), you are one of the most senior individual contributors on your team and a force multiplier for everyone around you. This is the delivery-focused track of L5: where the Engineering Architect sets cross-team technical direction, and you drive the hardest, highest-impact features from problem definition through deployment and iteration. You lead major product initiatives end to end, designing systems, writing production code across the stack, and mentoring other engineers while owning the quality, velocity, and outcomes of what your team ships. You'll partner closely with Product, Design, and fellow engineers to turn ambiguous problems into shipped, reliable software.
This on-site position requires 4 days a week (Monday through Thursday) in our San Francisco HQ office.
You will
Lead major product features end-to-end: problem definition, solution exploration, system design, code execution, deployment, monitoring, and iteration.
Design and implement enterprise-grade services and user-facing experiences across the full stack: backend services, APIs, data models, and frontend.
Create clean abstractions and reusable systems that increase product velocity, so the whole team ships faster without adding hours or complexity.
Own the quality, security, availability, and performance of the systems your team builds.
Drive technical decision-making within your team and influence direction across adjacent teams.
Respond to incidents, identify and resolve bottlenecks, and eliminate sources of recurring toil.
Deliver excellent software through comprehensive peer review, CI, and automated testing.
Provide mentorship and technical guidance to senior and mid-level engineers, raising the bar on craftsmanship.
You have
A BS or MS in Computer Science or a related technical field
10–12 years of software engineering experience shipping and operating production
systems at scale
Genuine full-stack depth: fluent in modern frontend and backend, with the judgment to know where a problem is best solved.
A track record of leading complex, multi-quarter initiatives from inception to launch with a strong sense of urgency and ownership.
Strong system design skills in data modeling, API design, and building for scale, security, and reliability.
Demonstrated ability to elevate a team through mentorship, code review, and setting technical standards.
Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration with Product and Design.
Bias toward clean abstractions and leverage over one-off solutions.
Nice to have
Experience with multi-tenant enterprise SaaS and concerns like SSO, RBAC, audit logging, and availability SLAs.
Familiarity with a modern stack including Kotlin, TypeScript, React, and cloud infrastructure (AWS, Kubernetes).
Experience building platform features or integrations that other teams or customers build on top of.
Nice to have
Experience in high-growth or startup environments where platforms evolve rapidly.
Familiarity with SOC 2, ISO 27001, or similar compliance frameworks.
Experience partnering closely with security teams on secure-by-default infrastructure and access models.
Exposure to service mesh, advanced networking patterns, or multi-region architectures.
Experience applying AI-assisted tools or workflows to improve infrastructure safety, speed, or operational signal.
You'll get
Deep engagement across the full technical stack, contributing to vital product domains including external interfaces, core platform architecture, and developer productivity tooling.
A high-leverage environment defined by tight collaboration between engineering, product management, and design functions.
Full ownership and architectural autonomy over high-impact features spanning both frontend and backend systems.
A deliberate placement process to ensure your core competencies and professional aspirations are perfectly matched with the right product initiative.
A comprehensive rewards package featuring competitive pay, robust benefits, and clear pathways for career advancement.

This is an L5 opportunity. Successful candidates typically come from staff or principal-level roles and are recognized for establishing technical direction, leading large-scale initiatives, and shaping engineering strategy across organizations.
About the role
We are building a proactive, engineering-led security function focused on threat detection, visibility, and automation.
We are looking for a Staff Security Engineer to own and evolve our Security Operations and Threat Detection capabilities. This role is responsible for defining how we detect, monitor, and respond to threats across our infrastructure, applications, and endpoints.
Today, much of our security posture is reactive. This role will lead the shift toward a system where detection is reliable, measurable, and engineered, not improvised.
You will work across Infrastructure, Platform, and Workplace teams to ensure we have full visibility into our environment and can confidently answer: “If we had a security incident, how quickly would we know?”
This on-site position requires 4 days a week (Monday through Thursday) in our San Francisco HQ office.
You will
Own the design and evolution of our threat detection and security operations capability
Define detection strategy across cloud infrastructure, applications, and endpoints
Establish and improve our SIEM and monitoring architecture, including signal quality, coverage, and scalability
Design and implement detection-as-code practices, setting standards for how detection logic is built, tested, and maintained
Drive visibility across all critical assets, ensuring endpoints, services, and identities are consistently monitored
Take ownership of endpoint security monitoring (e.g., SentinelOne), including integration into centralized detection workflows
Lead the design and rollout of automated security controls, including secrets rotation for high-risk systems
Define alerting strategy, including severity models, escalation paths, and on-call expectations
Lead investigations into complex or ambiguous security signals, setting the standard for root cause analysis and response
Partner with engineering teams to improve instrumentation and ensure systems emit high-quality security signals
Define and track key metrics such as Mean Time to Detect (MTTD) and Mean Time to Respond (MTTR), and drive measurable improvements
Mentor and guide other engineers, raising the overall capability of the team in detection and security operations
You have
10+ years of experience in Security Engineering, SRE, or Infrastructure Engineering with a strong security focus
Proven experience designing or significantly improving security monitoring, detection, or SIEM systems
Strong understanding of cloud environments (ideally AWS), including IAM, networking, and logging at scale
Experience working with endpoint detection and response tools such as SentinelOne or similar
Deep experience working with logs, events, and telemetry to build meaningful, high-signal detections
Strong programming or scripting skills (Python, Go, or similar), with a focus on automation and system design
A strong understanding of attacker behavior and the ability to translate threats into detection strategies
Experience defining alerting models and reducing noise while maintaining strong coverage
Ability to operate in ambiguous environments and define structure where none exists
Strong cross-functional communication skills, with the ability to influence engineering and leadership
A pragmatic, outcome-oriented mindset focused on reducing real risk and improving operational effectiveness

This is an L3 opportunity. Successful candidates often come from senior engineering roles and are experienced in leading complex projects, mentoring peers, and making architectural contributions across teams.
About the Role
Fullstack engineering at Envoy sits at the intersection of product, systems, and real-world experience. The features you build touch everything — from the interfaces millions of people use to interact with their workplace, to the backend services and APIs that power those experiences at scale across tens of thousands of locations worldwide.
As a Fullstack Engineer, you'll own meaningful product areas end-to-end, partnering closely with Product, Design, and Engineering to translate complex problems into simple, high-quality solutions. Your work spans the full stack — from scalable backend systems and APIs to performant, accessible frontend experiences. We value engineers who move fluidly across the stack and take pride in the quality of everything they ship.
We hire for strong full stack fundamentals and a product mindset first. The balance between frontend and backend depth is flexible - some engineers skew heavier toward the frontend, others toward the backend. What matters most is end-to-end ownership and high-quality execution across the stack.
Role Lean: Fullstack (50/50)
This role requires equal depth across frontend and backend. UI craftsmanship and backend systems carry the same weight — you'll move fluidly across the stack, and neither side is secondary. Full end-to-end ownership is the expectation.
This is an on-site position that requires 4 days a week (Monday through Thursday) in our San Francisco HQ office.
You will
Build and ship high-quality, scalable features across the full stack — frontend UI, backend services, and APIs
Partner closely with Product, Design, and Engineering to deliver thoughtful, user-centered solutions
Design and evolve backend systems: APIs, data models, and services consumed by web and mobile clients
Build performant, accessible, and maintainable frontend experiences using React and modern web technologies
Contribute to architecture decisions, shared components, and engineering standards across the stack
Design and optimize relational data models (Postgres) and improve system performance and observability
Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and continuous improvement of engineering quality
Own features end-to-end, from discovery and design through launch and iteration
You have
A BS or MS in Computer Science or a related technical field
7+ years of experience building production software, with meaningful fullstack or cross-stack contributions
Strong frontend fundamentals, including React and JavaScript/TypeScript, with a solid foundation in HTML and CSS
Backend experience building and consuming APIs (RESTful and/or GraphQL), with production exposure to TypeScript, Java/Kotlin, and/or Ruby on Rails
Experience designing relational schemas and working with Postgres
Familiarity with Git/GitHub and CI/CD workflows
A product mindset — you care deeply about usability, performance, and measurable impact
Experience collaborating cross-functionally with Product, Design, and Engineering partners
Comfort working in ambiguous problem spaces and taking ownership to drive outcomes
Your values
You are product-minded and user-focused, with a strong sense of quality and craftsmanship across the full stack
You take ownership for outcomes, driving work forward end-to-end and following through on impact, not just implementation
You hold a high bar for everything you build — how it looks, how it performs, and how it scales
You communicate clearly and value collaboration and constructive feedback
You balance technical excellence with delivery, adapting as priorities evolve
You are curious and motivated to continuously learn and improve
You thrive in a team environment and take pride in shared success
You'll get
The opportunity to work across the full stack on meaningful product areas, including customer-facing surfaces, platform systems, and internal tools
A collaborative, cross-functional environment with a strong Product and Design partnership
Ownership and autonomy over impactful work spanning frontend and backend
A thoughtful team-matching process designed to align your strengths and interests with the right product team
Competitive compensation, benefits, and growth opportunities
