Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 07/31/2029
Why are you being asked to complete this form?
We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.
Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
How do you know if you have a disability?
A disability is a condition that substantially limits one or more of your “major life activities.” If you have or have ever had such a condition, you are a person with a disability. Disabilities include, but are not limited to:
Alcohol or other substance use disorder (not currently using drugs illegally)
Autoimmune disorder, for example, lupus, fibromyalgia, rheumatoid arthritis, HIV/AIDS
Blind or low vision
Cancer (past or present)

Alcohol or other substance use disorder (not currently using drugs illegally)
Autoimmune disorder, for example, lupus, fibromyalgia, rheumatoid arthritis, HIV/AIDS

Senior Software Engineer, AI Platform
Oakland, California, United States
Apply
Everlaw is looking for a Senior Software Engineer, AI Platform with experience building and operating AI platform capabilities that power user-facing software in complex ecosystems. Transforming legal tech with software and AI is a full-stack challenge that applies retrieval, vector search, model orchestration, evaluation, and agentic patterns - alongside search, databases, and real-time collaboration - to help our customers find the truth in millions of documents.
We will encourage you to explore our entire system and work with significant autonomy across the stack. If you have deeper experience in areas like RAG pipelines, LLM integrations, or large-scale retrieval pipelines, there will be plenty of opportunities to lean into that expertise. Most of all, we care about finding self-driven engineers who love their craft, write clean software, use the right tools for the job, and avoid dogma.
We’ve built sophisticated technology with a small, talented team; as we grow, we’ve maintained a culture where you’ll own serious capabilities, write great code, learn a huge amount, and have a lot of fun. You’ll work directly with product and platform partners as needed to ship AI platform features that matter.
We build with a high sense of urgency, with respect for the profound opportunity ahead of us, but don’t rely on sprints or made-up deadlines to motivate results; code quality and maintainability are paramount. At our core, we enjoy the creative process of building systems that are reliable, reproducible, explainable, scalable, and secure. We do this by empowering our team members, tackling challenging and complex engineering problems, and providing mentoring, coaching, and comprehensive feedback.
At Everlaw, our mission is to promote justice by illuminating truth. Our company culture is open and vibrant, and we’re committed to the professional growth of our team members, offering an annual learning and development stipend, regular check-ins with managers regarding career goals, and mentoring from staff and principal engineers. If you’re looking for a place that values passion, integrity, thinking big, and a desire to apply your experience while also continuing to learn, we’d love to hear from you.
Think you’re missing some of the skills and are hesitant to apply? We do not believe in the “perfect” candidate and encourage you to apply if you feel you can bring value to our team. This is a full-time, on-site position located in Oakland, California with an expected hybrid schedule of 3 days/week in the office and 2 days/week at home.
Getting started
We want you to feel like part of the team early on! Our onboarding process will integrate you into the company with informative sessions on our product, policies, processes, and team structure and goals.
We’re excited for you to learn, grow, and contribute right away! We trust that you’ll bring industry experience and knowledge that will uplift and uplevel the team, but we don’t expect you to know everything on Day 1.
In your role, you'll...
Build AI platform capabilities that power product experiences such as Deep Dive, predictive coding, multi-modal understanding, agentic workflows, translations, search, review, and more.
Contribute to RAG, semantic retrieval, and agentic orchestration patterns, including indexing pipelines, query flows, tool-calling and planning logic, relevance tuning, benchmarking, and multi-modal workloads where applicable.
Collaborate with Product, Platform, Security, and DevOps partners to build and ship new features in our production environments.
Help with scaling our system to larger datasets with hundreds of millions of documents.
Provide Technical Mentorship to other engineers by both sharing your technical knowledge and becoming an expert in an area of our code base.
Be a Code Reviewer by reviewing code developed by others using your knowledge of programming languages, design patterns, and best practices.
Fix defects in our product by triaging product or system issues and writing code to debug, track and resolve these issues.
Provide on-call support for the product by answering questions from customers, triaging defects and exceptions, and carrying the pager.
Contribute to documentation for internal engineering consumption or for external the Everlaw platform.
Do technical interviews to help us recruit engineers and grow the team.
About you
You have a BS or MS in Computer Science, or equivalent coursework.
You have experience and proficiency in coding in a language such as C, C++, C#, Java, Python, Javascript, Go or Rust.
You have good knowledge of algorithms and fundamental computer science concepts, relational databases, API design, and building user interfaces
You have practical experience with AI/ML-powered systems such as retrieval pipelines, semantic search features, agentic pipelines, document classification systems, or LLM-integrated features.
You have work experience with AI development tools like Cursor and Claude Code, accelerating your planning, coding, and testing of production features.
You have at least 4 years of experience building distributed systems in the cloud with service based architecture, using frontend frameworks to create rich, deep, web applications, and experience with the best practices to test, maintain, and launch cloud based software.
You have at least 1 year of experience leading or coordinating multi-developer efforts, including planning and technical breakdown.

Senior Software Engineer, Database Systems
Oakland, California, United States
Apply
Everlaw is looking for a Senior Software Engineer, Database Systems to drive the development of our core data infrastructure. As a mid-sized SaaS company experiencing rapid growth, our challenge isn't just storing data—it's designing and writing the code that ensures data is highly available, performant at scale, and ready to power the next generation of AI-driven features.
In this role, you will be a key contributor and software design owner for our databases and storage layer, moving fluidly between low-level performance coding and high-level system architecture. You will spend most of your time designing and writing code to build robust, scalable solutions. You will collaborate closely with a core squad of engineers and provide guidance to engineers across the broader engineering organization to level up their database expertise. You’ll also collaborate with (and learn from) a community of other senior and staff engineers with expertise in search, cloud infrastructure, full stack SaaS application design, data science, and performance.
Note: We value "applied" expertise. We are looking for a software engineer who loves the theory but lives for the practice of building reliable, high-performance production data systems.
At Everlaw, engineering is key to our mission. Our company culture is open and vibrant and we’re committed to the professional growth of our team members, offering an annual learning and development stipend and regular check-ins with managers regarding career goals. If you’re looking for a place that values passion, integrity, thinking big, and a desire to learn, we’d love to hear from you! Think you’re missing some of the skills and are hesitant to apply? We do not believe in the ‘perfect’ candidate and encourage you to apply if you feel you can bring value to our team.
This is a full-time, exempt position located onsite (3 days/week in office) in Oakland, California.
Architect and Develop Everlaw’s database and storage strategy: Define how our primary transactional databases interface with our coding architecture, caching layers, and analytics data store.
Develop and Implement Sharding and Replication Systems: Drive the implementation strategy for horizontal scaling, including designing and coding logical partitioning and sharding. You will design multi-region replication strategies and failover mechanisms to ensure high availability. You will build and maintain the internal tooling necessary to monitor and mitigate replication lag and data consistency.
Engineer Database Performance: Dive deep into database internals, focusing on code-level optimizations to analyze and improve memory management, disk I/O, and query execution plans. You will work directly on schema and index changes, query optimization, and performance tuning.
Build Migration Tooling for Low-Downtime Operations: Design and develop database migration tooling and strategies for SQL environments to ensure high availability and minimal business interruption.
Build Observability Systems: Develop and maintain internal tooling to provide deep visibility into database health and bottleneck identification before they impact customers.
Always be learning: Stay up to date with the industry, evaluating when to adopt emerging technologies versus optimizing our existing stack. You’ll bring back your learnings to the team and how you might apply these to our work.
About you
You have at least 5 years of experience in software engineering, with at least 3 years of experience in database engineering.
You have a deep understanding of the storage engines and locking mechanisms of at least one major RDBMS (Postgres or MySQL preferred).
You have experience with Distributed Systems: Proven track record of managing databases in a cloud environment (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
You are authorized to work in the United States without restrictions. Please note that at this time, Everlaw is not sponsoring employment visas for this role.

Everlaw is looking for a Staff AI Engineer to help design and execute our overall technical strategy of applying AI in our product, directly contributing to our company’s vision of being the AI leader in legal discovery and litigation technology. AI is central to our product – not a bolt-on or afterthought – and represents a step-function advancement of our company’s mission of promoting justice by illuminating truth. We take the hardest problems of applying AI to complex litigation reasoning tasks, at the scale of millions (or 100s of millions) of documents and multimodal inputs.
In this role, you will help to drive the work of a core squad of AI engineers, as well as providing technical guidance to engineers to level up their AI expertise across the broader engineering organization. You’ll also collaborate with (and learn from) a community of other staff and principal engineers with industry-leading expertise in databases and storage technologies, search, cloud infrastructure, full stack SaaS application design, data science, and performance. In your role, you'll...
Lead the design and implementation of Everlaw's technical AI strategy. This includes staying on the cutting edge of the latest frontier models. Including participating in early access programs with all the major AI labs (Google, OpenAI, Anthropic, etc.) to provide direct feedback on unreleased models and API design, as well as staying abreast of evolving open-source offerings. You’ll devise our overall approach to using AI at trillion-token scale, including:
Guide the work of engineers across our company in using AI. We’re an organization devoted to constant learning. As one of our staff engineers, you’ll lead by example in staying abreast of industry developments and sharing your learnings with the team – whether in structured ways like feedback on design documents or code reviews, or in less formal ways, like giving occasional tech talks or leading a study group on AI research papers.
Collaborate with other software engineers, security engineers, data scientists, product leads and designers, and other cross-functional teams in the pursuit of our goal of being the AI leader in litigation.
