As a Senior Frontend Engineer on our Frontend Engineering Team, you'll architect and build the core payment experiences that power thousands of businesses. You'll develop our comprehensive payments management dashboards and embeddable components that merchants integrate directly into their applications.
In this role, you'll drive the technical vision for customer-facing products from conception to production. You'll lead design and implementation decisions while ensuring our payment interfaces remain performant, secure, and intuitive as we scale. Our engineering team operates with high autonomy and ownership—each engineer makes meaningful contributions that directly impact customer success in our dynamic fintech environment.

About the role:
At Finix, we build for scale and develop systems that can process tens of thousands of events per second. Our systems move millions of dollars per day. We iterate quickly and constantly release new features with little to no margin for error.
As a member of the Support Engineering Team, you are the front line and the face of Finix. You will interact with customers daily and help them on their path to becoming payment processing platforms, all while improving the product by collaborating closely with the Revenue, Product, and Engineering teams.
We are looking for a candidate who is a payment nerd or is interested in being one. Additionally, successful candidates are natural problem-solvers and show a curiosity about how the industry works. They are excited to help our customers build their own perfect payments stack.
This hybrid role entails working in the office 4 days per week in our San Francisco HQ.
You will:
Collaborate with the Revenue, Product, and Engineering teams on projects, features, and tasks along with managing the Support ticket queue and answering tickets
Troubleshoot, debug, and document technical customer issues and solutions
Build strong relationships with Finix users, work with them to resolve their issues including identifying product gaps and enhancement, and work to implement solutions and improvements
Act as a customer advocate in cross-functional product meetings
Engage and participate in team learnings to better understand the payments ecosystem
You have:
BS/MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or similar experience (Open to DevBootcamp graduates and non-college graduates)
Experience working with RESTful JSON APIs, Curl Commands, SQL, scripting languages, debugging, log aggregators, and web technologies
Strong written and verbal communication skills. You believe in being open, honest, and direct in your communications
Comfortable working in a fast pace environment and interacting with a high volume of customers every day, team-oriented, and hungry to learn
Strong foundational knowledge of APIs and can explain the concept to a five-year-old easily
Experience with ticketing tools such as Hubspot
Bonus points if you have:
Previous experience working for SaaS companies
Payments experience
Python, Ruby, and/or JavaScript experience

Base Salary Range: $85,000/yr to $130,000/yr USD + equity + benefits
Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. About the role
The engineering team owns the delivery and stability of our product end to end. Since Finix serves as the complete payment platform of our customers’, our engineering team owns our customers’ ability to capture revenue. The Sr. Software Engineer role centers around envisioning superior technical solutions to our customers’ payment needs, leading its implementation and continuously ensuring reliable service to our customers. You will have broad autonomy and responsibility for formulating the best solution possible and working with your peers to deliver your vision. Finix is looking for a team member to join our engineering team who brings exceptional technical acumen, attention to detail, interest to grow and an obsession with building excellent, performing and scalable software.
You will
Deep dive into our customers’ needs, and work with product management to define new services
Own the technical vision, implementation, best practices and infrastructure within your domain
Develop close relationships with product management and peer engineers
Become an expert in your payments domain and mentor junior software engineers
Proactively improve our architecture, frameworks, tooling, automation, and best practices
You are
Experienced in designing, implementing, and testing superior software
Comfortable continuously delivering code, infrastructure, tests and features to production
Excited about finding new and better ways to make software reliable, scale and perform
Obsessed with finding edge cases, understanding requirements and design implications
Proactive in monitoring running systems and troubleshooting production issues
Always looking for ways to grow, opportunities to mentor and collaborate with peers
You have
Have 4+ years of experience building and designing systems with several lifecycles
Extensive experience implementing secure APIs, highly available and observable services
Led and mentored more junior software engineers
Kept tight control on multiple competing priorities and have strong ability to multitask
Raised the bar on every project you were involved in
